The coffee is smooth and tasty. The breakfast eggs were cooked to perfection. The staff are warm and welcoming. They're happy to talk to you about the products. TBH, the ambiance is cold and metallic. However, It is neat and clean which appeals to my desires. The tables are spaced comfortably so there's no need to be concerned about hearing other people's conversations over the chat you're having with your friends.The space gives one room to move freely through it so there's no need to climb around other patrons to pick up your order or go to the loo. In that sense, it's a pleasure to sit in a shop that doesn't crowd you in. However, it's particularly frustrating when someone with a computer sits in the middle of a large table or takes a desirable space and parks at it for long after their plate of food is finished. Not the fault of the business but certainly the management could put up a sign suggesting workers, writers, etc. give room to others when the shop is crowded. Just saying. I recommend trying the signature blueberry latte at least once if you're in the mood for something sweet. It's surprisingly tasty and the coffee flavor is noticeable. Well done, designers! The prices are rather high even for Beverly Hills standards. I don't go that often but it's nearby so I treat myself now and then. read more

Always welcoming of new cafes in the neighborhood, especially since Green Door closed (RIP). Unfortunately this place didn't really scratch the itch. It's good enough, coffee and pastries were decent, but the woman at the counter was not welcoming or friendly at all, even borderline standoffish. What other reviews say about the pricing does also stand true, a bit excessive. Also a side note that isn't a huge deal, but they don't allow dogs. Seems a bit strange to not allow furry friends in such a dog friendly city as LA, especially seeing as over 50% of the foot traffic in the area is people taking their pups for walks. read more

Ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Bagel was delivered in multiple pieces that amounted to less than a full bagel and was glued together like an arts-n-crafts project with cream cheese. The barista took one look at it and immediately offered to make another one - hence the two stars instead of one star review. The remade bagel had a better presentation (in that it was a full bagel cut in half), but was not worth the more than $10 for what tasted like a previously frozen bagel with a thin layer of melting cream cheese inside. read more

gosh. i have mixed feelings about this place. but i will be generous and round up to four stars because i do like the drinks. the good: the specialty drinks are fun, unique, and quite tasty! i love the blueberry maple latte and matcha, both hot and iced. wasn't so much a fan of the sour cherry cold brew or rosewater latte, but that's probably personal preference. the interior is very cute and cozy, and it's a great place to come and get some work done. the bad: the prices. i get it, it's beverly hills and things are just generally expensive these days, but a fairly small latte with oat milk comes out to $9.58 - and that's not even including tip! yeesh. yeah, it is good coffee, but it's not out of this world amazing. given the prices, i probably would only rarely if ever come here if it didn't happen to be so close by. the ugly: the customer service. clearly i am not the only who has had some unpleasant experiences here. i will say, some of the baristas are quite friendly! but some are considerably less so. and when you're paying almost $10 for a single small latte... yeah, poor customer service is pretty off-putting (and i say this as someone who has worked in customer service!). read more

Impeccable service! Amazing environment! The food was SPOT ON with incredible detail. Coffee and tea in big dark blue cappuccino cups. The flavor and crunch and even spread of Nutella in the almond Nutella croissant was perfect! The rainbow avocado toast was not smashed avocado but sliced avocado. It had the avocados sliced perfectly all the way across the bread in perfect detail. This place will help brighten your morning. Don't forget to check out their artwork with little spot lights over them and accommodating security cameras. The music is pretty great too and man oh man are they clean. This morning Black Canvas coffee in Beverly Hills denied a simple coffee remake for two cappuccino breves only to be met with the owner giving a lecture on coffee, their past and present employees, and my friend and I "assumed" lack of coffee knowledge. She then proceeds to begrudgingly hand us our food which we requested a refund for due to her aggressive and abrasive language and attitude only to be kicked out with the threat of having the police called on us. I have worked in the service industry for years and I have never once condoned such behavior from myself and from my colleagues towards "our" clients. F.y.i I requested the remakes in a calm and friendly manner with the barista who agreed in remaking the two breves. I did NOT make the request with the owner. However the barista informed the owner of the request which in turn brought about the above experience. read more

I read the reviews and it seems people either love this place or hate it! I love it! Yes, the prices are higher than you would pay at a typical or chain coffee house, but so is the quality. Perfect bagel - airy and toasted perfectly. Cream cheese tasted like they freshly churned it in the back right before bringing it out. Fruit - perfectly ripened and fresh. My latte - awesome (devoured this before taking picture). Surgery patient started late so came back for round two! Look at how the tea is presented - this is not your typical coffee house - so I'm fine with the elevated prices for an elevated, classy, modern environment and off the chart food and beverage. I interacted with three different reps here and all were above average in customer service (including who I believe people referred to as the owner). We were unfortunately very disappointed after spending $22 on two matcha lattes and both of them were not very good at all. One of them just tasted like milk, there was no taste of matcha at all. We are usually the first customers of the day and they are always ready to take my order and deliver great quality products. The ambience is very lovely modern chic. It was my first visit to Black Canvas Coffee. I saw this new coffee cafe in my neighborhood a few days ago. After researching the menu via their website. I was convinced to try a particular item on their menu in which they do not distinguish that the menu provided on the website pertains to a location in Hollywood which is not cool. In full support of local businesses, I decided with another selection on their menu at their Beverly Hills location. I went with their avocado and poached egg in which my egg was over cooked, which defeated the whole purpose of me having an avocado toast. I did mention it to the cashier, but instead of making my order right she reimbursed me $3.00 for the overcooked egg. (Just take the whole order back if you can't make a decent poached egg). I also ordered 2 lattes with honey and almond milk from their barista. ( The first one was so delicious that I ordered another. The presentation was an A The service from barista 6/10 The service from the lady cashier working cash wrap was very disappointing. I expected more with the customer service as I was not satisfied with the service provided or my order or their false advertising of the menu. 1/10 It was my first time. I dined inside. It was also the first time for the customers that ordered after me. I was given a latte in a to go container, as they were given coffee cups to dine customers to drink their coffee from, which confused me honestly. They were also given a warm welcome for being first timers as I appeared to be invisible, because I received nothing. They were catered to even. I had to flag people down or get things myself. One of the server ( looked like Buffy the vampire slayer reject) even tossed my utensils on the table. The second time I ordered a latte, the barista asked if I wanted a coffee cup or a to go cup. It was too late at that point. SMH My overall experience was beyond unmemorable. I regret tipping them as it was not deserved. I should have just returned the whole item. Just imagine being forced to eat something you don't like and paying for it on top that. I doubt they will last if they continue with the service I was given. This experience ultimately irritated me. I didn't like the how I was treated and service that was given to me especially when they were going above and beyond for people who looked more like them. read more

honestly, i hate writing a bad review for a small business but the customer service is so consistently terrible here that it's deserved. i've never had such bad customer service where i felt an employee (shockingly, i believe she's the owner or manager) was so defensive and rude. i've worked in restaurants for years and couldn't imagine responding to a customer the way i was treated. i used to go to the location on highland because it was on the same block as my house and i had to start driving elsewhere because the employees were rude almost every single day. i wanted to give this location a shot because, what are the odds the bad vibes carried over? apparently, high. i ordered toast that i didn't realize had an allergy of mine and asked if they could remake. they said no, all sales are final. i asked if it would be possible to return it, again, no. so i'm allergic to my $20 toast with no resolution. they finally agreed to remake the toast "just this once" but "the chef just left and we're not sure when they're coming back." laughable. read more

This is such a gem. I live in K town and I make the drive to this location. I've tried a lot of their menu. Their cold brew is probably one of the best cold brews I've ever had, and I used to live in both Portland and Austin. Their espresso is fruit forward (also its Onyx so it's damn good beans) I recommend it black or as a cortado. They have great ceremonial grade matcha. Now where it takes the cake for me is their food menu. Yes it's a little pricy but it's 1 In Beverly Hills 2. The quality is most certainly there. The bagels are tasty and filling, they have a couple different options when it comes to them. They have crazy good pastries, you literally can't choose a bad one. My all time favorite is the Caprese panini. This was unbelievable, don't even get me started on the sun dried tomatoes. This is a great space to take work calls, and or meet up with clients/friends. Things to note print your receipt for both the bathroom code and Wi-Fi (you have to buy an item to use the bathroom) and for the love of god tip the damn baristas! read more

Owner Nazilla is very cold.. The other baristas seem very nervous to be working around her.. She has a really dark vibe that I dont mess with. The other reviews about this place prove this. I give one star for her mean spiritedness and her drinks are inconsistant whenever she is the one making them.. The baristas at the Hollywood location are much nicer and that one is cleaner too.. Drinks are more consistant and its close to attractions in Hollywood for any tourists that want to stop for a coffee. The baristas here should get rid of her so that the vibe will be better..
