We went during LBFSW and got the 3 course meal. We all picked the Clam Chowder and it was really delicious. I had the Chorizo Empanada which came with 2 yummy sauces. Again - delicious. The Entree was a short Rib with mashed potatoes. Beef was incredibly tender. Food was 5 stars. Service was also great. Order at counter and food was brought to us. Funky little location, but a great LB find. I forgot to mention , they have a fun selection of Ice Teas - peach/ginger was bomb. Parking was easy on the street.
I finally tried Black Pork yesterday for lunch with my friend. The whole experience was wonderful. We had the guacamole with puerco, an Asada taco, a chicken empanada, a black salad and a beet salad. That would've been enough by itself, but I also got a cheeseburger with mashed potatoes. All of the food was fantastic. I also had a latte which was very good as well. The owners, Veronica and Luis, could not have been nicer. I originally wanted to try the spinach salad, but they were short on ingredients. Luis made a tiny spinach salad for me so I could taste it. It had caramelized pears and cranberries, and a delicious dressing. I will let the photos of the food speak for themselves. At the end of the meal, Veronica brought us each empanada. They were banana and dulce de Leche. They were heavenly and a great end to a wonderful meal.
Not what you would expect for the location. I was looking up burgers in Long Beach when I came upon Black Pork. I actually didn't even look at where it was located, and I assumed it was closer to the dtlb area. I wanted to try the burger with the black bun, but there were out of the bread and were currently making some more. Instead, I tried the chicken sandwich, and it was so good. First of all, it's HUGE. And gorgeous. It's truly Instagram worthy. That and the fries in the gold bowl. They really have their presentation down. I wasn't even that hungry, but I ended up eating every last bit of it. Now I want to go back and try something else.
A small neighborhood restaurant with limited space but food packed with flavor! Love their cute restaurant front and decor inside. Ordering is simple and service feels like you're getting a home cooked meal. The wait for food wasn't long but you know that your food is being cooked fresh since you kinda have an open view of the kitchen. I always gravitate towards chilaquiles when available on the menu, especially empanadas and tacos. Everything we ordered had good flavor and by the end of our meal, we were pretty stuffed. Give this spot a try!
Today I tried Black Pork's food week tasting menu and omg. The service was great and everyone was so kind. Now this menu felt like I was eating at a Michelin star restaurant. The portions were perfect and everything tasted so good. If you can come this week and try this menu I would 100% recommend it. (I took a bite of the rib and ate half the empanada which was too good.)
This was my first time at Black Pork (I've been wanting to go for a while) and finally got to try them out during Long Beach Food Scene Week. They had an affordable three course meal that really gives you the chance to experience their food & service. If you've never been (like me), you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. I arrived around 5:30 for a later lunch/early dinner and by about 10-15 minutes later all the indoor tables were full. I tried the mango & spice iced tea and fell in love. That's saying something because I usually don't like flavored iced tea but this one doesn't fall into the pitfalls so many do. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't have that fake fruit flavor to it. Whatever the "spice" was also added a nice depth to the flavor. I honestly started googling mango spiced ice tea at my table to see if I could find a recipe to recreate this at home. The mussel starter was quite good. I found them a little overly salted but not to the point where it impinged upon my enjoyment of them. Empanada: The outside was perfectly crisp and bubbly without tasting/feeling oily. I had the chicken and liked both of the sauces with it. Korean BBQ & Mashed Potatoes: So good. The person at the table next to me was complaining to his dining companion that the mashed potatoes weren't smooth but I enjoy a good chunky mashed potato and these were so flavorful. Scoop up a bit with each bite of meat and you have a winning combination. Service was very friendly and quick. Super happy to have finally experienced Black Pork.
Fantastic food and excellent service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. We'll definitely be back!
The food here was incredible. Great flavor, quality, and presentation while being affordable. We had the beet salad, mussels, pork belly skewers with mashed potatoes, and criollo shrimp. My favorite was the criollo shrimp and beet salad but they were all hits. The establishment is small and casual which is in itself an appeal since you can enjoy a high class meal in flip flops. It's an order at the counter set up but they bring out the food to you. The woman (I believe she is the owner) who took our order was SO patient, helpful, and attentive. She mentioned they make all of their teas and syrups in house so will definitely need to try it out next time I go.
This place is amazing! The food quality is for fining dining, but it's affordable and you don't have to dress up for it since the place is simple and chill. The owner gave us a free dessert, too. Delicious and savory food! I went in last week for take out and phone ordered 3 empanadas.. to my surprise they gave me 3 extra as Veronica said they had a BOGO deal on empanadas that day. They were all flavorful but my favorite were the pork and papas con chorizo. Then the sauces they give you to go along are just chefs kiss! I previously dined in with my husband during LBFS week and I still haven't gotten over the curry mussels, so tasty and full of flavor! In addition to the BOGO deal on the empanadas Veronica and I had a heartwarming conversation. It felt as I was talking to a comadre I had known for years! Good vibes and delicious food.. what more can you ask for? Can't wait to return. Thank you for your hospitality Vero!
My best friend and weekly lunch buddy was very excited to bring me here for lunch on Wednesday. He raved about the food, particularly the chowder, and the Cuban sandwich. This is not in the best neighborhood in Long Beach. It is not a fancy-pants kind of place. The bar next door was being pressure washed inside and out when we slid by to the front door of Black Pork! The menu was intriguing, the beef sandwich grabbed my attention at once. The gal behind the counter was very nice about explaining the options. The steak sandwich which I had ordered, turned out to be fantastic. The steak was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned perfectly presented and I ate every single bite. The French fries were exceptional! Very crispy, hot fresh seasoned, even crave-able. I am still remembering them 5 days later, they were that good! My friend got the chowder, he let me try it and it was 10 out of 10! So creamy, filled with yummy clams, potatoes, and dreams! You Must get the chowder! He also had the Cuban Sandwich and it was also THE BEST! I could go on but this is our kind of place. Humble, mom and pop turning out awesome delicious food in a clean cozy unassuming venue!

Black Pork is a true hidden gem nestled in the heart of Long Beach. From the moment I entered this charming and fragrant restaurant, I was embraced by a sense of warmth--both from the cozy ambiance and the wonderful people who run it. It's not fancy, but it's incredibly inviting, relaxed, spotlessly clean, and, most importantly, friendly and welcoming. The chic industrial decor is softened by a wall of greenery, with large windows that bathe the space in natural light. The adorable black pigs scattered throughout, some even with wings, add a whimsical touch that made me smile. The whole atmosphere feels like a comforting embrace--a perfect spot for a memorable meal. Now, onto the food, which was nothing short of divine. I started with a glass of their mango passionfruit iced tea, which was refreshing and the perfect companion to the feast that followed. We began with guacamole, served with crispy pork rinds. I requested tortilla chips instead, and they brought out warm, freshly fried chips that were absolutely delicious. For my main course, I had the grilled chicken sandwich on a brioche bun with avocado, coleslaw, and aioli, paired with perfectly crispy French fries. The sandwich was a masterpiece--the chicken was juicy, the avocado added a creamy richness, and the coleslaw and aioli brought everything together in a burst of flavors. My husband had the special of the day, a rib eye steak, and he absolutely loved it. The steak was HUGE and grilled to perfection, with a flavorful crust on the outside and tender, juicy meat on the inside. He couldn't stop raving about it! We couldn't resist trying the cheesecake for dessert, and it was a true work of art. The cheesecake came with a variety of toppings on a gorgeous artist palette-shaped plate, making it as beautiful as it was delicious. Each bite was a sweet, creamy indulgence. But what made my afternoon truly unforgettable was the kindness of the hardworking owners, Veronica and Luis. Their warmth and hospitality turned a simple meal into a cherished memory. Luis, who is also the chef, prepared every dish with such care, and Veronica's service was impeccable, with a kindness that touched my heart. If you're in Long Beach and looking for a place that offers not just incredible food but an experience that feeds the soul, Black Pork is it. If you enjoy eating Pork in different variations and enjoy the smell of deliciousness, the taste of their items are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! I highly recommend this location for YOUR fix on flavors! My brother yelped this spot on Tuesday and I'm back again today, Friday! I can't get enough of their deliciousness! And I usually cook at home and rarely eat out! First timer here, and I pretty much second what most of the other happy reviewers have said...sketchy neighborhood, street parking, and this AMAZING little eatery is right between 2 dive bars, so just be aware. BUT THE FOOD THO. Soooo good! It's an order-at-the-counter place, small and nicely decorated, not fancy. The owner came to out table several times to check on us, which was appreciated. We ordered the mussels (omg the broth has so many herbal flavors and a curry kick that we loved...the wife said I annihilated them, as in she's never seen me eat that fast), Cuban Pork Sandwich, which is their take on the classic, but elevated and smoky and huge...very tasty and I had leftovers, and the Braised Short Rib...also cooked perfectly, a savory sauce on top and chunky mashed potatoes yumm. New spot just opened up on the West side. Customer service is excellent. Food is excellent. We stopped in after our daughter's game and had the beef empanadas, Mac and cheese bomb, an asada taco and the Mollejas. To wash this down my wife enjoyed the berry hibiscus tea. Mac and cheese bomb: a perfect golden brown Mac and cheese ball on top of cheese sauce. The flavor was spot on and texture of the macaroni was perfect. Asada taco with salsa: beef was marinated perfectly and cubed into very manageable sizes garnished with just the right amount of salsa. Nothing overpowered anything else. Perfect mix. Mollejas: I have no idea what this is but it was so delicious! A must try. This was topped with chimichurri. Empanada (beef): deep fried pockets of delicious beef mixture. read more

10/10 spot. Absolutely delicious all around. Everything from the coffee to the house made iced teas and smoothies were all delicious. Today, wifey and I decided to do lunch at this brand new hotspot in Long Beach. Right off the bat, parking was a royal pain, but we managed to snag the one available spot on the street and went inside. They have an open kitchen with both inside and outside seating. At the counter, we ordered the Guacamole con Puerco, Crispy Seafood, Beef Empanada, and Pork Belly Skewers. As all the reviews claimed, the Guacamole was excellent. The pork belly and chicharron made great substitutes for chips in this low carb app. The beef empanada was pretty hefty and seasoned well. The crispy seafood was supposedly a mixture of several different items, but I could only identify the calamari and fish. It was topped with aioli, and overall, it was just okay. For us, however, the pork belly skewers were the stars of the show. Big, meaty and drenched in an Asian tasting sauce, we enjoyed every bite. My wife also had the Sabroso smoothie which was packed with fruit flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. In general, the food was very good, but I'm hoping that they add more veggie options in the future (I'm trying to pretend to be healthy). The service was casual and friendly. Recommended! read more

The place is small and parking isn't the best but the food and service were good. The host at the front is very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Mac cheese ball and it was ok. Some bits on the inside were still pretty cold. I'm assuming from it being frozen in order to fry it into a ball. The salmon and mushroom dish was really good! The burger is huge and very flavorful. Next time I'll try the guag and bacon app. The table next to us had it and it looked bomb! lol read more

Everything was so good!! We had the Cuban sandwich, pork skewers, Korean BBQ,salmon and smoked chicken. We came with the family and saw other plates we want to come in to try again.
