The green apple smoothie was tasty. I liked the green apple flavor. It was not too sweet and not too tart. It is an unusual flavor option. I don't see it many places. The smoothie is a blended ice so it is a bit more thick. If they don't blend the ice well, you can get little chunks of ice in your drink. Fast and easy service. Quiet inside. I have tried many Black Rock drinks. It's likely that I would get the green apple smoothie again. I might get the iced matcha with strawberry cold foam again. I would get the pumpkin chai flavor again. I would like to try the pumpkin chai against their basic chai at the same time to compare. I also had their chai with vanilla and lavender cold foam in the past, but having had it not the same day, it's hard to really compare. The Oreo Chiller is a blended mocha with oreos. I couldn't taste the Oreo as the coffee flavor was strong. Good for those who like a strong coffee flavor. read more

In the drive through, the speaker works yet they are taking orders at the window only. Wtf? I was greeted at the speaker by someone telling me to drive to the window to take my order....makes sense once I got to the window. There was only ONE employee in the ENTIRE store and she had to take orders and make drinks by herself for all the cars coming through. I am a fan. I don't go out for fancy coffee often and if I do I try to go to Mom and Pop shops. I really just like and am searching for a good regular NYC cup of diner coffee, which is hard to find here. It seems all places have gone to prepackaged bulk coffee syrup and it is just not very good to me. However, with that said, my friend introduced me to BR and I really like their Mexican Aztec fancy coffee. I like a few of their other flavors but the Aztec one is my favorite. The service is bad, the drinks are bad and they don't know how to run their own POS system. All the employees are parked in the tiny parking lot, so the customers who want to walk up have no where to park. One morning there was ONE person working and a line 5 cars deep. And the way the lot is designed, no real way to turn around. The walk up window has no shade or anywhere to sit to wait for the coffee. This is probably my favorite black rock to go to. I go right when they open at 5 and i'm on the road again in less than 5 minutes. Sometimes when I get there a little before 5 they still take my order! Even when I do go a little later in the day they are very quick and efficient. They are much faster than every other black rock I have been to and my drinks have always been right. Side note: black rock has the BEST almond milk! The only other coffee shop I know of that is open at 5 is Starbucks and I happily drive a few more minutes out of my way to go to black rock. Customer service wise, they are awesome. Even at 5 in the morning their service rocks and they're super friendly! I definitely look forward to my black rock coffee mornings during the week and I will keep coming here! read more

Although the staff is nice and the drinks are great, the wait time at this BR is off the chain. There are consistently 25-45 minute waits to get a drink; it's incredibly inconvenient and it's definitely a deterrent from patronizing this specific location. People should not be regularly waiting for a half hour to get their items. read more

I have made it a habit to get Black Rock before my 12 hr night shifts and their fuels have me coming back to try different flavors! I love the seasonal orange one and often switch it up. The baristas are so nice and have great suggestions. The coffees are great, and I love the caramel blondie. I would recommend trying a frozen fuel in the summer! read more

I LOVE black rock, however this location was terrible. We ordered through the drive through 2 first Friday fuels, one I ordered without coconut because I hate the taste and it often makes me feel sick. Whoever was on the mic was fine with this and happily took our order, I have asked for the first Friday fuel without one of the flavors multiple times at Scottsdale locations and have NEVER had an issue. We get to the window and a man with yellow/orangeish hair was so disrespectful to us and told us we have to pay full price because we took a flavor off, I explained to him that the girl who took our order said it was fine and that I have done this at many locations without an issue before (which would make sense because why would I be charged more when they are using less product!!) he was so disrespectful to me and told me that I was wrong and that i have to pay full price or I can't have my drink. I told him to just put the coconut in it and paid the discounted price (makes no sense!!). He then handed me my drink aggressively and rolled his eyes. amazing employees who always greet their customers with such a happy attitude! although every time i have been at this stand it is staffed very poorly only putting one person on shift. this causes those in line and at walk up window to wait much longer than they should and putting the incredible employees through chaos in the stand! having to take orders at the window making us wait a whole hour in the line with only four cars in front of us. would love to see a change in this area for the greater good of the employees and the community they serve! read more

First time we went to this location, it wasn't busy (no cars in line, no cars in the parking lot). They told us to drive up to the window to order. No one was in front of us, so we pulled up and sat at the window for 10 mins and no one ever came to take our order. So we left. Second time we visited this location to try and give it another chance, the same exact thing happened. We were told to drive up to the window and we waited and waited and waited. No one ever came. So we left without coffee again. Other black rock coffee locations have had superior service, you'll just waste your time here. read more
