Ordered a coffee with no ice and was given a cup that was less than half full. When I asked if it could be filled to the size I actually purchased, I was told I'd need to pay for the next size up. I understand recipes and measurements exist, but it's frustrating to pay $10-15 for a drink and realize a large portion of what you're buying is apparently ice. If removing the ice leaves the cup half empty, that doesn't feel like a customization--it feels like you're paying the same price for less product. I'm sure I'm not the only customer who finds this frustrating. Most people ordering "no ice" aren't expecting extra product; they're expecting the drink size they paid for. Their matcha drink is described as online as an organic green tea with fresh, earthy flavor notes. Available hot, iced and blended. I got mine iced with a strawberry cold foam. The matcha did taste fresh and earthy. The strawberry cold foam tasted a bit oat like to me at first. I like it best with the matcha and the strawberry cold foam blended together. Service was wonderful. Not too many people in line at the time, which was great. Not a loud ambiance either. Did not sit inside. I have tried many Black Rock drinks. I might get the iced matcha with strawberry cold foam again. I would get the pumpkin chai flavor again. I would like to try the pumpkin chai against their basic chai at the same time to compare. I also had their chai with vanilla and lavender cold foam in the past, but having had it not the same day, it's hard to really compare. The Oreo Chiller is a blended mocha with oreos. Black Rock is one of my favorite coffee places. If they had more protein and sugar free options like their competitors, it would be my number one. I haven't been in a couple months so I decided to go. I was a bit shocked when my drink was $6.16 but came out to +$8. I ordered a latte and when asked if I wanted flavor, I told her to surprise me. I come here every single day for a reason. The STAFF! Yes the ambiance is great (always clean lobby) and yes the food and drinks are delicious, but the staff is definitely the highlight of my review :) Sydney, Iris, Noah, Andrew, Emma, Alyssa, Jade, Faith, Chris, Peter, Lindsey, Lucy (before she was transferred to a new stand), and Delaney have all gone above and beyond for me. They ALWAYS are so kind, on top of everything, communicative, and genuine. They have even learned the names of my pups Tulip & Poppy, so when I go it feels like seeing friends who take an interest in my life :) Truly out of every Black Rock stand I've been to in my entire life (after going every day for years in different states) this stand is the best!! I checked out Black Rock Coffee Bar for the first time after my hike this past Sunday. I have never been here before but friends say it's good. My dog and I went through the drive through and I ordered an iced americano and a pup cup. I didn't wait in line for very long at all and the person taking my order and the person at the window were friendly, prompt and polite. My dog loved his pup cup which came with lots of whipped cream AND a wishbone on top. I've had to stop going to DD's because they stopped serving pup cups so I am excited to know Black Rock still cares about its canine customers. The americano was delicious and I really enjoyed my visit. I'll be making this a routine stop when out for coffee! read more

Review #100 for 2023! I believe this is the first Black Rock Coffee I visited in AZ, I had previously been to one in Portland OR. It's close to one of my favorite hiking trails so I've stopped by a few times when I'm in the mood for caffeine. Today I wanted to try one of their seasonal flavors since it was the last day offering them (December 31). Their peppermint bark blondie sounded good, and I asked if it could be made into a hot mocha. I ordered that and both the barista taking my order and ringing me up were cheery and friendly. I've only ever gone through their drive-thru so not sure what it's like inside, but their service has been quick and easy every time I've visited. My drink was good, not too strong of a peppermint flavor and I'm not sure if it was supposed to have whipped cream and peppermint bark pieces on top, but mine did not. I'm glad I was able to try this seasonal drink and I would recommend Black Rock for drinks, caffeinated or not. I like their rewards program and it's been easy to earn and redeem points for free drinks. Here's to a 2024 filled with liberation and joy! read more

That said... this morning at 8:00 a.m. felt less like a coffee shop and more like a full-blown dance club rave. I met a client here expecting a professional, reasonably calm environment. Instead, we were shouting over music so loud it could've powered a spin class. I'm all for good music and energy, truly, but there is a time and place. Early morning + business meeting does not equal nightclub volume. Yes, there's a high school nearby. But there are also professionals who work, meet clients, and expect to hear complete sentences before noon. Turning the music down a few notches would go a long way toward making this space usable for more than just teenagers hyped on caffeine. Love the vibe. Love the coffee. I have been going through a very difficult period in my life currently. I was able to get out of bed looking forward to trying a new black rock drink, and as silly as it sounds it was my only motivation to get out of bed in the morning. I had a free drink that I was excited to use, and wanted to try this location. When i pulled to the window, i realized i had forgot to ask for an extra shot in my drink. I couldn't get any of the baristas attention as i wanted to ask them before they made my drink. When a blonde girl came to the window, i asked her if i could add an extra shot and she said "I'll remake your drink" with a clearly irritated tone. When i was getting checked out, the blonde girl came by again and said "i didn't add the charge for the extra shot just saying" to the girl ringing me up and another barista laughed. I had a free drink which is why i wanted the extra shot added. It felt like very mean girl behavior. I left this location feeling horrible, and will not be back.
