I love coming here when I'm early for work to grab either the cold brew or Blackout. Today was the cold brew with coconut milk and honey. I added a coffee cake (warmed up) to try for the first time. I thought the cake was really soft but still moist. It fell apart in my hand, not a bad thing to me. The service was quick and helpful. I spilled my first drink and they remade it no questions. The music was a bit loud while I was waiting for my order. I only mention that because another had trouble hearing the cashier and she mentioned the music is loud. read more

I've honestly had it with this Black Rock location. Every single time I come here, something is messed up with my order. Today I ordered a medium iced strawberry, watermelon, and lime Fuel, which is what I usually get. When I got to the window, they were charging me for a small, so I had to correct them. After waiting about five more minutes, they handed me a drink that I could immediately tell was wrong just by the color. I tasted it, and it was clearly a Starburst Fuel instead, which I know because I've had it before and it tastes like medicine to me. It's always a frustrating experience waiting in a 15-minute line, having to repeat my order multiple times, and then still ending up paying around seven dollars for a drink I didn't even order. What happens next when they get more power, they push people around creating grandeur for themselves, and showing the other children employees how to ruin busibess by disrespecting a customer in front of the other children employees. Then, those children employees follow suit. They don't know how to help customers who had a bad experience. The supervisor child might of had a fight with mommy or daddy at home, so now you have that child district manager wanting to take out their frustrations, and who do they pick on, an adult that reminds them of mommy or daddy because they're alittle angry at their parents. Deescalating a problem is one of the life experiences I was talking about. Kids in important roles use their no found power to push older adults around. They're children working in adult roles. That's why McDonald's is going downhill, no experience, other than treating customers poorly. There's a question below of when was my bad experience...well, the date of the bad experience, everytime I went to blackrock and dealt with the children employees. I get better respect at a children's lemon stand, than the children working at blackrock. The children at the lemon stand appreciates the money I'm spending because after I give them the small amount of money, the children at the lemon stand says...thank you! See if that happens at black rock. Maybe they should work at a lemon stand before working at blackrock, they're close to the same age. You might be lucky and see snot running down from their nose before they say thank you. Well, it might be a booger, but it's snot. Here's the important thing to remember if you have a complaint. Forget about calling a complaint line. They'll direct you to one of the kids that work in the store location where you had a problem. More importantly, don't ask for a district manager, it's a kid who got promoted. E.g., I met one of the kids who was a district manager, with her mother, or should I say, her mommy at a Mesa location. Mommy was so proud of her baby girl. The mother said, my child district manager's first words in her position was...goo goo. Let's come to a conclusion, shall we. This is a fact, in any business, the power trip is worse with kids put into important roles because of no proper training or life experience. The children that work at black rock don't understand that "me" not going to blackrock doesn't cause a financial loss for "me," but it does for blackrock. Every micro fraction of loss for their company, brings blackrock closer to bankruptcy. Even more importantly, "me" who knows many people can cause a negitive impact on black rock, and even what's worse, writing a negitive review...oh crap...like this one. So if kid is reading this, by all means, go see your classmates, and sit at the kiddy table with your friends, but if your an adult, drink your coffee at the big table, not the kiddy table, which is in black rock. Don't forget your bibs kids. Oh one more thing, I have to say, at least Starbucks wants to have better customer service. Starbucks has a complaint phone number, and a experienced district manager will call you because they care about their customers experience in Starbucks. I only went to the drive thru but the line was extremely long which sort of turned me away but then I was pleasantly surprised at how fast they were. So don't let the long drive thru deter you like it almost did me. I ordered an iced matcha with oatmilk. It was delicious. Next time I will go inside to check out the atmosphere. read more

really bad wait times, I put my mobile order in at 7:21 and did not walk out of the store with my drink until 7:45, Many people were walking out with drinks that were likely placed after me and they were just picking random people waiting to make their drinks thinking that that was the most efficient way to minimize the wait. It is constantly like that. Things need to change at some point because it's been like this for YEARS. The Starbucks in the heart of fashion square is faster than this drive through/store. People are making a slot in their day to enjoy coffee or a refreshing drink to start their morning before heading off to work or school and this store is making people late with 25 minute wait times. When I returned to the counter to request a cup of ice water, they were friendly and prompt. I can never go wrong with the warmed up banana bread and my go-to coffee drink. Don't let the Dutch Bros comparisons fool you- Black Rock Coffee is legit. Similar in concept, model and design, Black Rock offers higher quality, more coffee based drinks vs it's counterpart. I ordered a "black out" as I was on hot boy mode on a warm 80 degree day- blended coffee with mocha and hazelnut. Definitely not as sugary and sweet as Dutch Bros and Starbucks, which is why I enjoyed it. I've had Americano's at other BLK rock locations which are strong, bold, and will definitely give you a boost. This location is great because it has nice indoor seating making it a great place to hang out or read as well. read more

Great little spot for coffee on the go! My brother and I swung through the drive through for an afternoon pick me up. There was no wait, the staff was friendly, and drinks were made promptly! I ordered a Mexican mocha blended. It's a combination of cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, espresso, and milk. Having it blended made it creamy and refreshing, almost like a milkshake! For more than two years the Black Rock just off 7000 E. Shea was our go to after workouts at the adjacent MountainSide Fitness. Over the last several months service has declined significantly; yes the staff is very nice and enthusiastic, but they prioritize the drive-thru business so there is quite a wait for just a simple cup of hot coffee. And invariably that coffee has been lukewarm to cold. They apologized profusely, and after about 20 minutes remade our coffee- cold again!? The final insult was rap music at volumes loud enough to deter conversation. Sorry Black Rock, we are now taking our business elsewhere. read more

I love going to black rock and this location I got to a good amount since it is by my work. Last few times I have gotten a bagel which I don't get it every time I go I always ask for it to be toasted. They have been toasting it half cut unopened so just the very top of the bagel and bottom of bagel is toasted. I get the bagels because I like them but can guys toast the bagel right it's not worth the price when you don't get it the way you want. New BRC on Shea a few blocks west of Scottsdale road. The interior is really nice. The Staff, Manager Nicole, did a fine job. I had a "Blackout"(chocolate, Hazelnut coffee)which was delicious. I subtract a star for music selection. I think Starbucks plays better tracks with more new, less mainstream artists. The other negative is their lack of sandwiches, snack selection. This Black Rock is awesome. Every time we go through the drive thru, the employees are friendly and fast, and our coffee drinks are always pipin' hot and made to order. From the Americano to the White Chocolate Mocha to the Matcha latte (when I'm feeling the need to have some antioxidants with my caffeine), each and every drink is delish. We waited patiently for this location to open up and loved it. The barristas were friendly, attentive and real people persons. We met a multitude of great new friends there who came from as far away as Chandler. The twins and David were the mainstay of the location right up until they all left for better jobs! Yes, better jobs. Management turned these locations into ice boxes where it is colder inside than outside in the dead of winter, The barristas (for the most part) now greet the customers with "Whats your problem" instead of how can we help! The temperature should be no less than 76 degreees summer or winter but it is seldom above 68-70 degrees. All the people we met now go to their competition as do we! Their intent clearly shows they do NOT want customers to stay - barrisitas wear sweat shirts and coats -- that alone should say enough! The management clearly wants this establishment and the rest of them to fail - and they are doing a great job of making it happen! What a waste! read more
