Black Walnut Cake is spicy cake with vanilla ice-cream. Wish there was more fruit.

Smack in the middle of Deep Deuce, sandwiched between Downtown, Bricktown and Automobile Alley, the ambience is clean modern, fancy casual. Last time we came in from the front and had to find parking, but this time we used their parking in the back and took the elevator up, which was quite convenient. Last time we came we got the Tomahawk, which was pricy at $150, but it was still pretty good, so we decided to come back and try their other dishes. Everything was okay, maybe not quite worth the price they charge. The Chargrilled Oyster had this mustard sauce that was tasteless. If you're going to add a sauce, it should bring out the bold flavors of the oyster. The Brussels Caesar was not bad. They give you a lot even though it's a "salad". We ate half and then ate the other half with our entrees kinda of like a side, which worked really well. We ordered both entrees, the Cast Iron Strip and the Beef Ribs, with the mushroom sauce that comes with it, which made everything very brown. Even though both meats were cooked perfectly, the taste was just meh. The Black Walnut Cake was pretty good though. It was spicy cake with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream on top. The hubs didn't care for the sprinkled oats that kept getting stuck on his teeth, but I didn't mind the added crunch to the dish. With fine dining prices, we wanted to like/love the food, but everything was just okay. Our waitress was friendly enough.

BW is a cute spot in Brick Town. Parking was easy in a garage. Hostesses were smiley. Decor was a mix of a few aesthetics; lighting fixtures over the bar were my fav. Service was slow. We had to ask a couple times about what was going on in the kitchen. Apps were ok: jerk chix, crab puppies. Cocktails were well done: paper planes on a menu was something I hadn't seen before. Entrees were just ok. We got some of everything. My fish was prepared well; the lima bean mush served next to it- nah. Folks who got the spice cake were nodding their head in approval. Two word review: paper plane.

We came a little later in a Saturday night and got seated immediately. We started off with some drinks which were super good. They didn't have a lot of items available but I think it was because it was a little later. We got the pork belly, brussel sprouts and ponzu steak. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. Loved the variety of items they had on the menu. It's a cute spot for dinner!

What a thoughtful and well executed menu. We tried a bit of everything, but if you even kinda-like Brussels sprouts, the Brussels Caesar was the clear winner of the evening. Everything else was varying degrees of delicious, but hands down this is the dish to get every time. Everyone was friendly, the atmosphere is very intimate and I will most certainly be going back to try more of the menu. Only ding on the experience was how little the server really knew about the menu, asked about a dish's ingredients and guy was pretty well clueless. He was very nice but just expected a bit more polish from a restaurant of this caliber. Certainly still a 5 star review, he may have just be a new employee. In any event, what a neat little gem of a restaurant and honestly felt like the prices were a great value for the taste and execution the kitchen sends out.

My work came here for a group dinner. I heard there was lots of prep involved in committing to a dinner for 16 people. We were instructed that there is a parking garage on the west-facing side of the building on Oklahoma Ave, so we found it, drove in, and found parking with no problem. Remember to ask for the code to get out when you leave. Walk to the elevators and go up to floor 1. There is signage that will take you to the hostess stand, where they walked us to our table. We were in a corner of the restaurant that was pretty secluded from the rest of the venue, meaning you couldn't see any other guests. It included a huge TV screen that simulated a fireplace. The staff, Chloe and (I think) Kayla were very kind and accommodating to us all night. They took out drink orders and instructed us that the bar around the corner held all of our hors d'oeuvres (pre-decided by our point of contact). The best one was the smoked mac & cheese bites. The bruschetta was pretty tasty. I personally didn't enjoy the fried green tomato bites but half of my colleagues did. We were provided with a limited menu and before placing our order, the waitress announced a change, one additional entree and one dessert replaced. I ordered a caesar salad, the veggie scampi, and the spice cake. The caesar salad was alright; they served it with a long, almost stringy type of lettuce I didn't enjoy. Not lots of flavor there nor did it make it easy to eat. My husband had a butternut squash soup that he enjoyed, but I did not. It was rather nutty, haha, but honestly, it was more of a bisque than a soup. I did not enjoy my veggie scampi. It was described as a white wine sauce with veggies, but the sauce was odd. Each time I took a bite - you know that feeling in the back of your tongue when you eat a sour patch kid? - those taste buds fired off. I can still feel it now as I type this, two days later. I tried to get acclimated to it but it kept getting worse. I do not recommend this dish. Thank the Lord that my husband ordered the English beef ribs and he was kind enough to allow me a few bites. Those ribs were delicious. The downside is that the menu advertised the dish as coming with four hush puppies and each rib dish I saw only had two. That was disappointing only because the hush puppies were so good. My colleagues loved their salmon dishes and the coconut curry dishes. I just had a bad luck night with my dishes. The great news is that I was able to finish the night with a super good spice cake. The cake alone was dense which is why I assume it's served with vanilla ice cream. Very decadent and enjoyable. Looking at the rest of their menu online, I am unsure if I would like to come back. If I do, I'm playing it safe and getting those ribs again!

Return visit. Loved our last experience here (for dinner and apps--it was a totally five star visit)! Our biggest disappointment is that they've discontinue their happy hour (which we specifically went for). We each dropped about $30 bucks a piece on one drink and and an app a piece. Still love those burgundy mushrooms and the mac and cheese bites were better this time. The shrimp and grits bites were good but one of our party did not like the sauce. At. All. Jerked chicken lollipops had a good kick. Please take the happy hour specials off your website though.

Honey roasted lavender chicken is so delicious and juicy. Definitely recommend it as an entree. I will be back due to the great customer service and ambience.

Came here for a Christmas dinner and it was so nice! It took place in their private dining room, we had our own bartender and they created a menu that we could choose from. The servers were very kind. The restaurant is gorgeous, definitely new, clean and crisp on the inside. My favorite items were the tomahawk steak, the mac and cheese and vegetables paired with it were exquisite! I also LOVED the Mexican firing squad drink, delicious! The food coming out was a bit slow but I think it was mostly due to how large our party was. I definitely plan to return because I've heard their happy hour is great!

Service was great. It's a neat little place that is a must if you are up on the hill. Good was out of this world I just love it.

I loved this so much the first time, so my colleagues and I came back for happy hour, and were quite disappointed that they discontinued happy hour! But it's still on the website. No big deal, we still split several appetizers and had cocktails. I must admit that the cocktail nor the appetizer I ordered were as good as I had hoped. The shrimp and grits bites had this strangely bitter sauce that was not pleasant. And the cocktail was pretty, but tasted just okay. Service was good, but it was dead. Very empty inside compared to the last Thursday I had it. Plenty of open seating though. I'm still a fan, but was a tad disappointed overall.

Thoroughly impressed with most everything at Black walnut. You're greeted upon entry and and my only feedback would be how long we had to wait for our table despite have a reservation for a long time. I believe we waited almost 45 mins before being seated. It seemed like the place was overbooked and bigger tables weren't leaving that quick. Nevertheless, the ambiance was great filled with local art and good lighting. Once we got sat the service was impeccable and we were treated well as a big table. The food was pretty amazing top to bottom. I don't have recollection of many dish names but we all shared appetizers that were killer. I really enjoyed the English steak that had plenty leftover with tasty, honey-glazed hush puppies. Highly recommend in OKC.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant so did for our monthly dinner with friends. The drinks were good and the beet salad was delicious. I arrived early enough so could park out front but friends parked in the connected garage. My favorite was the Mac and cheese balls.

We were from out of town so decided to go to this restaurant. The place seemed cute and trendy! Service was pretty good especially given the group size we went with. There were some tasty items, but I wouldn't say they were jaw-dropping must-haves. I probably wouldn't come back if I was in OKC but good to try at least once. The lavender chicken seemed a little sweet for my liking. I did like the jerk chicken!

Is this restaurant kid-friendly? Couldn't find a separate kids menu online.

    Yes! it's kid-friendly.

Are reservations recommended and or needed? Never mind we waited an hour for an answer! couldn't get anyone to answer the phone! We made reservations elsewhere! On a time…

We walked in and were seated within a few minutes for a party of 4. It probably depends on the day and time but I would definitely recommend reservations as there is limited space.
