This quaint little bistro is absolutely delicious! I can't say enough good things about this place. From start to finish everything was top notch. We had the goat cheese croquettes to start which were so fresh and tasty and then for the main course we ordered the wagu bistro burger and my god, there's a reason they won best burger!! Still enjoy sitting at the bar and eating a meal. Tom greeted us warmly and later in the evening Mike made a point to say hello. They have updated the back of the bar, added wine fridges. It changes the vibe a bit, but I do like the added lighting as it was a bit dark before. Truffle fries are excellent as always, as was the gazpacho and carbonara. The prices have gone up. In 2020 a glass of Sonoma cutter, screw cap version, was $15. It is now $18. Average pour. I understand increases, 20% seems on the steep side to me for this wine. read more

Great restaurant we came across during our day trip to Key West. There's metered parking on the street with both foot traffic and cars on the street. A thriving small business community. We walked in and someone was sitting at the bar and the rest of the restaurant was empty. It didn't deter us. A waitress came out and took our order. It's small with a bar almost as long as the length of the restaurant. There's a clear view of the street. You walk on the back patio and open a door and there is a single toilet. Our food was delicious. While we waited to order, another couple sat down. We ordered a burger and fries, a fish sandwich, fries and a side of green beans - not pictured. As a part time Key West local, I've been to Black Fin Bistro several times before..... however based on last nights experience I doubt I'll be back. The food when it did arrive correctly was pretty good. However 2 of the 4 dishes when they initially came out were wrong and resulted in 2 of our 4 person party eating without others and when the other two dishes did come, we were basically finished with our meals, so we basically ate separately. Not a massive deal.... but the attitude and inattentiveness of the waiter was unacceptable.... he seemed agitated that we sent the food back even though they brought the wrong dishes out. Perhaps he should have written things down vs trying to recall our order from memory. Very disappointed as I genuinely liked this place. Management needs to teach this waiter that he is in the service business. Judging by some other recent reviews it appears this is a pattern. read more

We made reservations and were seated on the patio, which had a lovely ambiance. It was also naturally decorated with local plants and flowers. Our server was attentive and very informative. All the food was excellent! We ordered a goat cheese salad to start (not pictured) which was delicious. It was enough for two people to share! All food came out as expected and was excellent! While this was not an issue for us, they do not have a liquor license, so if looking to drink with dinner, be advised it is wine and beer only! read more

Stopped in for a quick bite. It was a little "nicer" than some of the other places in key west. Very small inside - small enough that one guy runs the bar and is the server on a Sunday afternoon. He was very nice. Tuna burger was delicious. Fries with it were also delicious. Mini lobster rolls were okay - B was disappointed that the lobster was more of a minced lobster than big chunks. The chips needed some salt but were yummy. Conch cakes were just meh. Same complaint that it wasn't any chunks of conch. read more

Intimate spot with a nice fenced deck for dining out back. Reserved on Yelp. The place was dimly lit after sunset, in fact we saw several young diners use flashlight apps in order to see their menus. No cocktails on offer but wine and beer were available. We stuck to soft drinks. My yellowtail tuna was rather tough and hard to cut, soba noodles on the side were oily but green bean tempura was very yum. This was an overpriced entree at $47 even by Key West standards. Hubbie said his wagyu burger was good but he didn't much care for the sauce/topping on it. (Would specify no sauce in future). Service was prompt at first but slowed down as several large groups arrived later on. We skipped dessert and called it a night. read more

We made it here on our recent trip to Key West and what a gem! Good was fantastic, flavors spot on and the most incredible service! Started off with the Goat Cheese croquettes so crispy and yummy! I had thé Carbonara which was so delicious, the pasta and flavors just popped. My hubby ordered the Shrimp and it was one of the best meals we had on our whole trip to Key West! Fantastic experience - easily 4.5 stars. For our last day in Key West, we popped into this adorable gem for lunch. As luck would have it, we were one of the only people here, so we got awesome, top of the line service. The inside is super cute, as is the back patio - and the weather was on our side, so we decided to sit outside. It was very Earnest Hemmingway - the perfect little sanctuary for some inner peace and serenity. We started with a glass of wine, and I had their soup (shrimp bisque I believe). We then split their steamed mussels in a blue cheese sauce. This dish is the reason I'm giving it 4/5 not 5/5. Dish was good, but mussels were a little over cooked and the sauce could have been a little thicker with a stronger blue cheese flavor (maybe include some Sherry). My own personal recommendations here - the dish was still very good. After this we had their fish of the day special, which was local tile fish (highly recommend) over mashed potatoes with asparagus. This dish was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were great. For dessert we split their key lime tart, which was a twist from the usual key lime piece. It was shaped like a quiche and had a cookie dough like crust. It was excellent. Service was spectacular - our waiter was really nice, and very hospitable. Excellent choice if you're in town! read more

Mixed review... Outdoor patio was relaxing and inviting. Nice music playing. Mussels were great, but so odd they were served with fries and ketchup. Yellowfin tartar was decent, but Yellowfin snapper was bland. Wine was way overpriced and bathroom looked like a dive bar. This spot was on Duval and I never knew until a friend recommended it. The inside is tiny, so even though we had a reservation we had to sit outside. The atmosphere outside was very pleasant so we didn't mind. They have burgers, pasta, steaks, and seafood, so it's a good choice for everyone, including vegetarians. I had the shrimp bisque special and wasn't impressed as it was too watery. But the red snapper special made up for it. It was so perfectly cooked and buttery, served atop a delicious curry sauce. Tom at the bar will make your experience here. His service was warm and inviting. I always love the vibe in here, it's cozy and intimate and they have outdoor seating as well. We got the Key West Shrimp cocktail, which was fantastic as well as the truffle fries. Split the Blackfin burger with egg which is always good. Dessert of carrot cake and brownie was the perfect end to the night. Great beer and wine also! read more

We had a wonderful meal here a few days ago. I wish I would have gotten our server's name (he shared it but I have an awful memory.) it was dark but I think he had reddish hair and a small frame. He was incredible! We made reservations for two but after we arrived and saw it wasn't super busy (it was late Sunday night) we asked if we could add four more to our reservation. They were accommodating though in the end we didn't need it. The service and grace they offered was wonderful. The patio was beautiful! The menu perfect. I had the grouper and it was a 10/10 and the mashed potatoes were divine. My partner had the bolognese and they too were happy. Would absolutely return! read more

I used to love this place, the the food and the service had always been very consistent. As of late, what has not been consistent is the pricing and the portions. I understand that food prices have gone up and a business must adjust to maintain their profitability. But if you are going to increase pricing, do not reduce portions. Case in point, the grilled tuna with the soba noodles, what was a $38 plate is now a $52 plate with a smaller portion. I don't understand the logic. This restaurant is on a busy tourist thoroughfare and they can afford to lose customers. It's just unfortunate, this was one of my top 5 restaurants in Key West. read more

We celebrated my wife's 50th birthday here and it was one of the best experiences we've ever had. We had a reservation for 7:15, but arrived way early and were sat immediately at a small table for two, in the center of the courtyard. It was absolutely amazing! We started with water and I had an Elvis Juice by Brewdogs. The scallop appetizer was exemplary. The best diver scallops we have ever tasted. The sear was perfect and the roast corn salad underneath married well with the buttery sweetness-saltiness of the scallops. We also split the Lobster Rolls, which were divine. The perfect marriage of lobster, mayonnaise, lemon, and herbs. We also split the Beet Salad. Perfection! The golden and red beets with goat cheese and honey. Yum. For entrees, my wife got the Pork Chop and I had the Shrimp Provençal. Both were executed perfectly. Coffee and dessert was the crème brûlée. It was an experience and a memory we will never forget. Very good, ate here twice outside. The outside seating is in back in a nice area. I had the ahi both nights and my wife had the tile fish one night and a salad with ahi on it the other. The staff were very nice, and the first night we got some good travel advice about dry tortuga. The first time we tried, we couldnt get in, reservations are a good idea, but not always needed, and this is one of three great restaurants across the street from each other. read more

Small but very nice restaurant in old town Key West, FL servers were very kind and respectful and tastings were allowed for wines by the glass which is a huge plus in my books! So simple but can change the course of a dinner. If you have a smaller stomach I recommend sharing a meal or keep the expectation of bringing back leftovers. Fantastic meal! Sit in the garden patio. Service excellent and food amazing! We started with the mini Maine lobster rolls that were the perfect size and perfect taste. Also had the grilled octopus that was perfectly cooked and not chewy served with a tempura avocado that was amazing! Followed by entrees of the yellowfin grilled tuna cooked perfectly rare with black soba noodles and awesome tempura green beans ... delicious! My husband had the snapper entree over coconut yellow rice with veggies that was also amazing! We followed with tiramisu. It was all wonderful and would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I was surprised by the ratings versus the food we received. I ordered the mussels, and these were the worst I've ever had, tough, flavorless, and dried out. The yellowfin tuna burger was also flavorless served with a tomato on top that was a slice of light pink mush. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. The prices at this restaurant do not reflect the quality of food. read more

We made an early dinner reservation and we were so impressed, we cancelled our final 2 nights worth of reservations to come back. Wow, atmosphere, service, food, location. 5/5 all the way. We were very impressed to their attentiveness. We ate outside and the ambiance was so lovely. Classy, quiet and tropical, and it's on Duval! we had the escargot, French onion soup, yellow tail snapper and New York strip steak. Everything was cooked perfectly & flavor combinations were impeccable. They even have a fresh herb garden. The service was the best we've received, even after spending over $500 (for just 2 of us) on previous nights dinners. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and even better, they are opening for lunch later this summer! (We had to ask if they were open, because I had to try to figure out how to try everything on the menu before leaving!) read more
