I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday and we picked it up it looked bad. The design was completely off, but I thought I'm sure it's gonna taste really good. We got it home sang happy birthday to my daughter, we cut the cake and it tasted like crap. It was drier than a desert. Yay! Another bakery in O'Side, you can never have enough bakeries IMO. The place is very cute and comfortable to hang out on a lazy morning. Our first time there we ordered a cinnamon roll, sticky bun, raspberry chocolate scone and two Americanos. The dough on the roll and bun was soft and tender. Toppings not too sweet, just right. The scone however was rubbery, the dough was obviously over worked. The coffee was nice and strong but not bitter. I want to go back and try their Dutch Crunch bread loaf and almond croissant. Blackmarket was under construction for a while but it was totally worth the wait. I had the brioche cinnamon roll and my wife had the pop tart - both were delicious. I am really picky about my coffee and the dark roast paired really well with our baked goods. It wasn't burnt or bitter - just right. Recommend. read more

The baked goods here are always amazing, our favorites are the raspberry chocolate chip scone and berry poppins but honestly everything we've had there tastes amazing. I was not impressed with their breakfast sandwich. Too greasy and messy. The location needs better ventilation. The smoke in the location makes it difficult to breathe. Gooeie gooey fun city time is BEST way to describe this absolutely amazing place. A in-house bakery are rare enough to find in the first place in Southern California but they take it to another place by the amount of essence of that r&b kinda of love they put in their creations. I swear the bakers/artists (grand masters) have Sabrina Claudio, Daniel Caesar and Silk playing as they create their artwork. The amount of love they put in this.. it's like they're making love to the dough. I was so excited to try Blackmarket Bakery and then instantly disappointed with the $12. sandwich that was nothing more than cheese, fig spread and basic sandwich bread. The Gobbler was equally unimpressive. The photos online looked nothing like the sandwiches that we were served. read more

Popped in here today to explore this new bakery and we weren't disappointed! The owner was so lovely and shared some information on the bakes. My husband is a huge cookie guy and I'm not, but I have fallen in love with the lemon cookies - they're AMAZING!! We came at 1pm and they had sold out of fresh bread unfortunately so I'm looking forward to trying that and some of the lunch items. You've got to try this place! If you long for authentic, buttery, crispy, perfectly baked croissants, you will find them here!!! They are indeed more expensive than most, but absolutely worth it. Memories of Paris came flooding back. It took me three sittings to finish the almond one, with almond paste, shaved almonds and powdered sugar. Just divine!!!! Will have to try other offerings. This bakery is amazing! Starting off with the staff! So so friendly! I had no idea what I wanted and really took my time ordering, I didn't feel rushed at all! The sandwiches were simple and personally I love simple! The desserts were so yummy, I got a Girl Scout cookie (Samoa) style cheesecake which was literal perfection! Whomever thought of that idea is so creative! Also got a snickerdoodle cookie which was super soft! I'm sorry to the business owner for not taking pictures!! I just had to eat them right away! I used to love this place until I received disappointing service last week. Firstly, the quality of baked goods is superior. If I was rating this place solely on the food, I would give it 6/5 stars but because of the service, I won't be returning. They used to have happy hour from 1pm to closing which meant 50% off all their baked goods including bread. I showed up last Tuesday at around 130pm and a lady with a pierced lip ring rang me up at regular price. I respectfully questioned her and stated that I thought it was happy hour. She told me that they had changed the happy hour times and my two items would be full price. Please keep in mind that the menu right in front of her stated happy hour was from 1pm- closing, Monday through Thursday. I gently asked when this had changed given that the signage implies that this deal was still active. The barista boldly blurted that this was new since last week. I didn't want to argue with her and after paying, I stated to the person ringing me up that it may be helpful if they removed the advertisement for happy hour off the menu to avoid causing confusion for other customers to which the barista scoffed at me and gave me a death stare. I am a big proponent of supporting small businesses but not if I shall be treated with condescension and sass. I don't mind paying full price if I receive good service and great food but paying $7 for a pastry only to be chastised by staff is beyond my tolerance threshold, read more

Great coffee & breakfast sandwiches! Homemade loaves of bread for sale as well. The owner is so nice and the staff are all very friendly. I ordered an iced coffee americano and they made me a hot one. It was no big deal, easy mistake. They went above & beyond in making up for it. Love everything I've had from here. My favorites are the tomato provolone croissant and the lemon blueberry pop tart. The berry poppins is also good, though I wish they would mix in the blueberry lemon option more regularly. My only complaint - counter service is soooo slow. I have never seen two people working at the counter despite there being two registers. It seems like the barista will jump over to help when not making drinks but they are, understandably, generally too busy with drink orders. Definitely need a second counter person especially on the busy weekend mornings. I arrived with 2 people in front if me and by time it was my turn (after waiting almost 15 mins to order), the line was to door. Efficiency is the name of the game. read more

Black Market Bakery finally opened in Oceanside. The workers were nice, the decor was clean and modern. Plentiful seating both inside and out. The powered by butter theme was great, made me laugh! I enjoyed my iced matcha for the most part. Not the best I have ever had, but not bad. The three stars is for the extra taxes I was charged. Retail tax I get, but I I was charged a food preparation charge and an Oceanside charge. All three taxes combined came to an extra $5 (approximately) combined. Plus, I tipped because the worker was sweet. 2 cookies and a drink shouldn't come out to almost thirty dollars. I wanted to support this store, but won't be going back. I know going out is expensive and I expect that, but this was over the top in my opinion. read more

Obsessed is an understatement. Absolutely everything we have tried here has been phenomenal! The bacon/jalapeño croissants, the scones, pretzels, breakfast sandwiches and deli sandwiches... I have always been the type of person to stick with my regular order at places because they tend to be tried and true for me but I have no problem branching out here because I know the next pastry will be as good as any! The staff here is incredibly sweet and welcoming. I read about the triple tax on here which would make sense for my visit over their soft opening weekend when it somehow cost $60+ for two coffees, two pastries and a breakfast sandwich but I really appreciate reading about how they refunded customers who were accidentally charged such. Soft opening weekends can be chaotic! It's when businesses get a chance to work out the kinks before officially opening. We're really looking forward to buying their freshly baked loaves of bread & even more so towards their extended hours whenever that may come!
