I understand that for a tourist town, food will be pricey. However $13 for a meager mediocre burger the size of a mini tea plate is ridiculous. Not only that but the servers are evidently illiterate as they dropped the food off at the wrong table without reading the placard placed on each table. To be fair, the customer lied and said that was her food when it clearly wasn't. Excellent customers. But if you are going to hire food runners, at least let them be the kind to know where the tables are and can read the table numbers. The air inside was damp and surely smelled of a brewery, making the burger smell like the chum bucket. Grease oozed out and I nearly yakked as I scarfed down this poor excuse of a smash burger. I somehow left more disgruntled than when I came in. Being desperate for any food, that was the first place we went. I guess you really do gotta look out for what you eat and not let the hunger get the best of your judgement, RIP my stomach read more

Came in on a Thursday for Trivia during the "shoulder season" in October. Was honestly surprised at how busy it was for a weekday, even with Trivia starting in an hour. Even though it was busy, we didn't have a problem finding a table and the service was attentive. Ordered pizza, burger, pretzel, and fries to go with our drinks. All were delicious and were brought to the table quickly. Our server, Savannah was very friendly and was able to answer our questions about the local area. I came in after looking at the menu out front... while I was disappointed that they didn't have fried pickles and was reassured by the bartenders that I would find something I liked. Tess gave me a few samples of beers and I settled on the Mountain Man Scotch Ale. It was great and I was thrilled that I received her guidance. When it came time for food I was confused... because of the aforementioned frickle fiasco. Sophie took the helm and reassured me that the smash burger and "scratch" fries wouldn't disappoint. We are camping outside whitefish. I wanted to come to the Great Northern Brewing Company. I loved their beer while living in CA. Unfortunately they closed about 5 years ago. Found Blackstar in its place. Place was packed. My wife and I got 2 seats near the bar. Had to order and pay for drinks through an app. It was very easy and the bar service was quick. To order from the menu, my wife had to walk to a counter and order and pay for food. 4 minutes after ordering, our food arrived. She ordered the Smash Burger. I had the fried chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. The beer is Jeremiah Johnson's and is brewed in house. The beer I ordered was not really that great. That caused the loss of a star. I was sad that Great Northern was gone. Blackstar will do very well in Whitefish. read more

We have traveled and been to many breweries/pubs all over our country since we retired five years ago. No business we have visited can match this brewery's customer service for humans and dogs. Besides our pizza being perfect, I could not believe the attentiveness of their employees to our needs and our dog. Without us asking, one server asked if our dog wanted water as we were having a beer, and later a different server asked if our dog wanted more water. We have never been there before and they kindly showed how to efficiently get everything we wanted. If I could rate higher than five stars I would. We are from upstate New York, and no, we don't know who the owner is. Oh, I forgot, the beer was great. On our way back to our Airbnb I stopped at a store and bought two of their six packs, both excellent IPA's!! Fantastic beer and customer service, who could want more!' read more

I highly recommend not coming here if you have children or someone who wouldn't want to wait in a restaurant for two hours. We ordered burgers and a chicken strips for the kids to split. The chicken strips came out super fast which we appreciate but that is where it ends. We then waited 1.5 hours for two burgers. I know it was busy but that amount of wait is inexcusable. They blamed it on short staffing but there was four food runners standing around most of the night talking. We will make sure not to come back here again if we find ourselves back up in Whitefish. read more

Great distillery/bar. Owner is a great person, who also is the distiller. Their Cinnamon whiskey is the very best I've ever had. Not like the crap sold in stores. The gin is also certificate. Bartenders are all the bomb. Great place a must to visit. read more

One of the best restaurants in Whitefish, and certainly the best lunch option. It can take a little long, but the ambiance is fabulous. The staff is so kind and accommodating, though once again sometimes can take a little long. You cannot go wrong with any of the food options especially the pesto pizza, smash burger and Caesar salad. First off- the food was good, the bartenders were great we all enjoyed our beer choices. The issue for us was this was a seat yourself place and upon doing so, we were directed (by signage) to use the website or go to the bar to order your food and drinks. We tried the online ordering but our cellphone service was not working so I went in hunt for a menu. I found one (and only one) for our party of four to share. The menu had the Wi-Fi code that was not provided at the table so we started an online order but it did not go through so we ended up at the bar to order. The other couple got their food first and my sandwich came after but not my husband's. Any food delivered was a drop and run situation so no explanation on the delay for the last meal. My husband had to finally walk up to the food window to ask where it was and was told it was coming. We were all done eating by the time his arrived. We had no one ask how anything was and when we had a problem no assigned person to ask. In the meantime, there were numerous food runners standing at the same time and waiting for orders to come out and it would seem more helpful to have one work the floor to answer questions and check in with customers. read more

We were starving when we walked in. Place was basically full. We assumed it would be an hour before our food arrived. We ordered a couple beers. The IPA was fantastic - so good I bought the glass it came in. The Honeyweizen was amazing. My wife bought her glass too. lol. Boom. Hot food on the table. 20 minutes after ordering. We were shocked. Food was ok, service was terrible. Soda was out of carbonation, the poor girl didn't have a clue how to fix it. They brought out a burnt pizza and asked if it would be ok burnt or if we wanted them to make us a new on. Then one person in our party received their burger after we had all finished our meal and they never brought out the fries after we asked twice. While in town for a ski trip we decided to check out Blackstar for dinner and beers. The beer was great; the amber ale and the honey hefeweizen were both very tasty. Met Cheyenne and she gave us some food recs (all the different pizzas were great) and told us some other things to check out while in town.
