We stopped here with our kids. The place was busy and the kids were tired. A very nice woman - Lisa asked us if we had been there before, and we replied no. She was very helpful and explained how to order and helped us find a table that could accommodate a high chair ( that she brought to us immediately) She did give us a couple of recommendations on what to order. She was right, smash burger with bacon, the beer queso, and dipping the fries in the queso was great. She even took my son for a ride in the elevator. ( the highlight of his trip) . The BEST smash burgers and brick oven pizza. It's casual and in the busy summer you may need to wait a bit, but the atmosphere is great, and the kids there work hard. Shout out to Liam who was friendly and running around clearly working hard. Our favorite thing to get is to split a smash burger to start and then by the time we've had the burger, our pizza is out and we share that. So good! We love both the margarita and the bbq. The space is amazing and the staff were super friendly. Beer is ok. Don't bother ordering food, unless you're desperate. The chicken burger was not good. Not even average. It was gross. It took 40 minutes to get the other half of our order. I'll come back to have a beer on the roof top deck, and the staff are great. Nive view and the patio. Good food but it was expensive for "bar food" and didnt come with sides or fries. Ordered guacamole and chips but it didn't come with salsa. Thr restaurant didn't even have salsa as an option. $15 burgers but they don't come with fries. Bummer. They were sold out of both ciders on the menu. Bummer. Slow service. Visited Whitefish for the first time last week where we popped into Blackstar for a tasty meal and great beers. We met Cheyenne who was extremely nice and helpful! Gave us good brewery recs as well as some fun things to do around town while on our visit. Will definitely be back! read more

OMG! The chicken sandwich.. so delicious!! You do have to seat yourself and order at the bar, but totally worth it! Awesome beer as well!

Really, truly enjoyed the food and beverages here. I was happy with my hazy IPAs and my girlfriend was very happy they had her "cougar juice" a.k.a. Rombauer white wine on the menu. I didn't see any option to order via phone with a QR code so we ordered at the bar which makes it a not Five Star rating and Found it strange the french fries came before the Smashburger, but according to my gf, both were delicious. I had a Caesar, which was more than plentiful and yummy! We went back a couple nights later with our husbands to try the pizza which was, to be honest, fabulous. We ordered a few of the salads and a white pizza as well as a margarita one and I'm hard-pressed to say which was better. Next time I'm having a carb anxiety attack I'm going there for their huge Bavarian pretzel that looked fun. read more

Nice open atmosphere, lots of windows overlooking downtown and park. The pizza and smash burger were very good. The table service was non existent. We had to wait in line at the bar to order food and drink, go across the room to get our own water, wait in line again for another round, clear our table when we were done eating (while the bartender was checking his phone), wait in line again for another round then wait in line one last time to pay the bill. The experience would have been a 5 star if there were servers or if the bartenders would help with the room while not making drinks. read more

I understand that for a tourist town, food will be pricey. However $13 for a meager mediocre burger the size of a mini tea plate is ridiculous. Not only that but the servers are evidently illiterate as they dropped the food off at the wrong table without reading the placard placed on each table. To be fair, the customer lied and said that was her food when it clearly wasn't. Excellent customers. But if you are going to hire food runners, at least let them be the kind to know where the tables are and can read the table numbers. The air inside was damp and surely smelled of a brewery, making the burger smell like the chum bucket. Grease oozed out and I nearly yakked as I scarfed down this poor excuse of a smash burger. I somehow left more disgruntled than when I came in. Being desperate for any food, that was the first place we went. saw this place was highly recommend so we decided to stop by and was not disappointed. the vanilla porter was hands down one of the best beers i've had in a while since i've been in montana. definitely recommend the chicken pesto sandwich and smash burger, you will not regret it! one thing we didn't like we called and were told the kitchen closes at 8 but they close the kitchen at 9 and it's not open till 11 like it says on the sites. read more

Came in on a Thursday for Trivia during the "shoulder season" in October. Was honestly surprised at how busy it was for a weekday, even with Trivia starting in an hour. Even though it was busy, we didn't have a problem finding a table and the service was attentive. Ordered pizza, burger, pretzel, and fries to go with our drinks. All were delicious and were brought to the table quickly. Our server, Savannah was very friendly and was able to answer our questions about the local area. I came in after looking at the menu out front... while I was disappointed that they didn't have fried pickles and was reassured by the bartenders that I would find something I liked. Tess gave me a few samples of beers and I settled on the Mountain Man Scotch Ale. It was great and I was thrilled that I received her guidance. When it came time for food I was confused... because of the aforementioned frickle fiasco. Sophie took the helm and reassured me that the smash burger and "scratch" fries wouldn't disappoint. We have traveled and been to many breweries/pubs all over our country since we retired five years ago. No business we have visited can match this brewery's customer service for humans and dogs. Besides our pizza being perfect, I could not believe the attentiveness of their employees to our needs and our dog. Without us asking, one server asked if our dog wanted water as we were having a beer, and later a different server asked if our dog wanted more water. We have never been there before and they kindly showed how to efficiently get everything we wanted. If I could rate higher than five stars I would. We are from upstate New York, and no, we don't know who the owner is. Oh, I forgot, the beer was great. On our way back to our Airbnb I stopped at a store and bought two of their six packs, both excellent IPA's!! Fantastic beer and customer service, who could want more!' read more

I highly recommend not coming here if you have children or someone who wouldn't want to wait in a restaurant for two hours. We ordered burgers and a chicken strips for the kids to split. The chicken strips came out super fast which we appreciate but that is where it ends. We then waited 1.5 hours for two burgers. I know it was busy but that amount of wait is inexcusable. They blamed it on short staffing but there was four food runners standing around most of the night talking. We will make sure not to come back here again if we find ourselves back up in Whitefish. read more
