I came down with a massive craving for BBQ while I was hanging out at Concourse Bowling and I yelped for an emergency prescription of BBQ ribs. The closest place was Blake's Place and I immediately phoned in my order and drove way over the speed limit to get here. I know I was in a rush to satiate my craving, because I didn't even take a picture of the food! It did hit the spot and I think I ordered a full rack which meant I had BBQ for the next 5 meals. The ribs were not fall off the bone and were a little tough, but I was coming at an off peak time. I will give them another try when I'm back up in this area. The BBQ was tangy. They also have seating with a typical down home BBQ-esque ambiance. I called right when they open @ 11 a.m. Was able to make a phone order for the special offer. Heard there was a line out the door already when opened. It was a 45 min wait for the ribs. When i arrived, it was a full house inside. During lunch time. Believed i missed the lunch rush. Went to cashier, paid for my order and got my order within minutes. What we had ~ Full rack of bbq ribs. Was so tender and juicy. The ribs are so yum. ~ Blake bbq beans are full with bacon bits. Thick and yummy, I'm not a fan of baked beans. Gave it a try n it was yummy. ~ coleslaw is traditional cole slaw was good and creamy. ~ Garlic toast was good and not hard. Perfectly seasoned w garlic. Blake's has their own bbq sauce. Definitely recommended to grab a regular bottle and the spicy one. Finger lickin good for all of your BBQ's. It's a really cute bbq restaurant. Red & white table clothes covering the table. Was craving some down home bbq. Found this place located in the OC, Anaheim area. Menu described amazing sandwiches... tried 3 different sandwiches. Brisket Ortega melt, pulled pork, & the pulled pork pile. I would love to say it was amazing but it was just ok. The size of the sandwich and quantity of the meat was underwhelming. Served on these little buns, almost like a slider, with a few pieces of meat. Doesn't match the price of 1 sandwich. We bbq/smoke meat at home so I was waiting for that POW of Smokey flavor, but sadly it wasn't there. You shouldn't have to smother it with sauce for it to taste good (smoking meat 101)The Mac n cheese was plain as can be & the potato salad was egh. Onion rings were ok. Thank goodness for the service. Marci is amazing. So kind and friendly. She's great at hospitality and knows the menu well. She's definitely an asset here! I haven't been to Blake's in a while (not sure why ‍). I'd forgotten how friendly the staff is and how delicious the food is! We got here shortly after opening and as we walked to the door, the heavenly scent of meat in the smoker already had my mouth watering! This time around I ordered Tasha's BBQ Trio. So much food! Basically one and a half sandwiches: one pulled pork, one shredded beef, and one shredded chicken. SO GOOD!! The side of mac has a nice crispy top that was perfect. The day I came in it was raining, but they do have a nice covered outdoor seating area for dining al fresco. Glad I stopped back in today. I'll be back soon. read more

Heard great things about this place and wanted to take my brother in law for some good ribs! Well, we got the back rib lunch plate and I do not recommend it. The beans and fries were wonderful, Both were hot and beans very flavorful and fries crunchy. Ribs.. what a disappointment! They were cold, but the sauce was hot, the ribs themselves were dry and tough. I cook ribs in my smoker, and the meat is ready to fall apart, not like these. A lady came and offered to get us some more ribs ( which were only slightly better) On the way out we saw much better ribs on another couples plate. There is no way you can go here and not give them 5 stars for their amazing service alone. We came on a Saturday night at dinner time, and they were super busy the entire time we were there. We called ahead to ask if they had outdoor seating, which they do- but it's a gorgeous closed in patio, and they allow dogs! We got a table on the patio, and everything was clean, and even with them being so busy, they were so attentive, kind and the food came out quickly. We are huge BBQ fans. So we are pretty picky, but we really enjoyed the flavor of their original sauce. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, chopped brisket sandwich and brisket dip, as well as a side of Mac and cheese, fries and onion rings. Everything was fresh and tasty. It is all al la carte so you'll want to be mindful of that, but I feel the price point is still on par with other similar restaurants. The pulled pork was great (and lean... no giant fat chunks, which is amazing), and my son loved the brisket. We would definitely come here again. I honestly can't say enough good things about the personable service though. I didn't catch his name, but the young man that served us was so welcoming, funny and truly made it an experience for us. From the moment you walk in the door they are absolutely amazing, and this alone warrants a return visit. It's a sandwiched,I thought it was a sample plate, but it's under the sandwich items. Still delicious, I'll order it again. My man got a slab of pork ribs, they were good and Mac and cheese. It's savory and not dry. It's affordable and has generous portions, that can be easily shared or devoured all by yourself. Of course, there are other delicious items (like sandwiches) on the menu, and when it's your birthday , they will give you a free dessert too! I went to get a gift card for my son in law who is from Texas and could not find a place that had great barbecue. Let me tell you, he not only found his new favorite place but he is hooked! For me the experience was phenomenal! I was greeted by friendly staff who gave suggestions based on what we like. My husband and I had THE BEST MEAL! I ordered the Chopped Beef Brisket Pile with Mac & Cheese for him and for me, the Baby Back Ribs with Coleslaw, Fries and Beans. We shared our delicious buffet that was so flavorful and tasty. Restaurant is clean, bustling, and there are servers constantly carrying trays around. Sandwich Sampler - a lot of bread and a lot of meat. I liked the brisket the most, but they were all pretty great sandwiches. Their signature barbecue sauce added a great sweet and salty profile to the well-smoked meat. Nachos - could taste the brisket more on these and didn't need additional sauce (but I decided to add it anyways). Large portion size, but probably better for a try-once sort of thing just because the flavors do start blending together near the end of the bowl. Onion rings - great! We did a pick up order here. We visited a few time in the past. My ribs felt like they were bit overdone. Nachos my wife got decent. I will say the brisket was pretty good so I'll give them that When we came to pick up the drive up or the response from the phone, I'll get to you when I can. I know a lot of places done. Necessarily prioritize to drive up anymore, but placed a decent order for the family so like we've already put money into the business and could've gotten a different response. Didn't look like the place was that busy but it didn't look like it was staffed beyond it made the server and a few cooks. First time here and I have to say service was great. I wish the food was the same... I cook a lot of brisket and I could tell you one thing there's on a scale from one to 10 would be more like a 4 ... they're trimming is too lean.. I would say it's almost like it's prep too fast because there's no flavor and there's definitely no moisture in the meat. If you don't know brisket, you might like it, but I just happen to be a brisket connoisseur. I did give them three stars because of the service... but the food is nowhere in the same category. Our workplace had an event and they catered thickly sliced SMOKED TURKEY SANDWICHES. -- dab of sauce with extra sauce available -- single slice of dill pickle -- good smoke sniff and flavor on the turkey -- turkey not as dry as expected -- brought it home and added sharp cheddar cheese and reheated it in the air fryer for 5 minutes and it got much better Rating as is = 3 stars Rating with my modifications at home = 3.75 stars I would not know for sure how good they are at smoking or BBQ until I try their brisket and beef or spare/St. Louis ribs. read more

This is an outstanding barbecue location. The first thing you will notice is how polite and welcoming everybody is the moment that you walk in. The one thing that you will notice right off the start when you get your food is it is far superior to Lucille's. Many people kind of use that as their standard gauge. They aren't even in the same ballpark. Blakes has an excellent assortment of barbecue options. This last visit I got brisket, baked beans and apple cobbler. The brisket was juicy had a nice smoke taste, but not overwhelming and a cursory smoke ring. The baked beans were excellent. And it all went down. Great with some apple cobbler.
