This is an outstanding barbecue location. The first thing you will notice is how polite and welcoming everybody is the moment that you walk in. The one thing that you will notice right off the start when you get your food is it is far superior to Lucille's. Many people kind of use that as their standard gauge. They aren't even in the same ballpark. Blakes has an excellent assortment of barbecue options. This last visit I got brisket, baked beans and apple cobbler. The brisket was juicy had a nice smoke taste, but not overwhelming and a cursory smoke ring. The baked beans were excellent. And it all went down. Great with some apple cobbler. If you're ever cruising around this area, it's a little bit out of the way, but well worth the stop. read more

Smells so good inside. Ordered one smoked meat and rib plate. Came with beans. They were sweet . I don't like it sweet. Subbed the coleslaw with mac and cheese and I thought it was ok. My girlfriend liked it though. The fries were good. Came with two slices of toast. I used them to make a pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was so good. The ribs were also good. Got two ribs. First time here and I have to say service was great. I wish the food was the same... I cook a lot of brisket and I could tell you one thing there's on a scale from one to 10 would be more like a 4 ... they're trimming is too lean.. I would say it's almost like it's prep too fast because there's no flavor and there's definitely no moisture in the meat. If you don't know brisket, you might like it, but I just happen to be a brisket connoisseur. I did give them three stars because of the service... but the food is nowhere in the same category. Our workplace had an event and they catered thickly sliced SMOKED TURKEY SANDWICHES. -- dab of sauce with extra sauce available -- single slice of dill pickle -- good smoke sniff and flavor on the turkey -- turkey not as dry as expected -- brought it home and added sharp cheddar cheese and reheated it in the air fryer for 5 minutes and it got much better Rating as is = 3 stars Rating with my modifications at home = 3.75 stars I would not know for sure how good they are at smoking or BBQ until I try their brisket and beef or spare/St. Louis ribs. read more

Tried Blake's since it was recommended by friends. The BBQ ribs were okay but the sauce was too sweet for us and there wasn't as much meat on the ribs as we are used to having -- pretty thick bones so that was a bit disappointing as they looked a lot meatier than they actually were. We love a good Philly sandwich so we were excited about this upgraded version. We actually enjoyed the meat on this sandwich better than the ribs, however the onions and bell pepper were almost raw and not the caramelized goodness that makes Philly sandwiches so good. The onions and bell peppers were both very crunchy and lacked that tasty grilled or caramelized flavor. The roll was also greasy either from butter or oil. The French dip also had tender meat, however the rest of the sandwich and the jus were too salty which masked the flavor of the rest of the sandwich. The roll for this was also just okay. The onion rings were very oily and greasy, as though they weren't drained after cooking. The fries were okay. Also got sides of beans, coleslaw, and garlic bread. They were just okay. Overall the predominant flavors were salt and sugar, and the predominant textures were soft bread and greasiness. Was hoping the BBQ meat would be the star. It wasn't busy as we arrived early to avoid the dinner rush so we are not sure how the food turned out like this. For ribs between $20-30 and $15 per sandwich we anticipated a different dinner than what we got. read more

Wow, my family already loved this place for food but add friendliness as well! I ordered a sandwich by accident thinking it was a meat plate so I walked back in and after reading the menu realizing I was wrong. i have been eating from Blake's for over a decade but I have never reviewed it. Nor have I been in the building because our company has always ordered and brought the food in for our meetings. I guess catering is a huge part of their business and I can understand why. I have tried almost everything here: the beef brisket sandwich, the Dip, BBQ chicken sandwich and this last order I tried Blake's BBQ Salad. I chose the chopped beef brisket. It comes with some garlic bread and I must say it was very good. I have never had anything here I didn't like and as I write this I realized that there are so many things I have not tried here so that is my next challenge, try more of the dishes. Blake's could not have delivered a better experience on our first visit yesterday. For starters, we were received a genuinely friendly greeting by the staff right off the bat when we walked in Next, we immediately noticed how clean and comfortable the dining area is maintained with TV screens and the volume set just right, loud enough to hear the call of the CWS game, but still able to chat without having to yell across the table. Then there's the menu and the reasonable prices. We opted for a pulled BBQ chicken pile sandwich and a Southwestern chicken salad, both were very delicious. We'll step up to the more serious BBQ entrees next time for sure, and there absolutely will be a next time. Why will there be next time? Besides everything mentioned so far, this morning my wife realized that she was missing her wallet. Long story short, I called Blake's and explained the situation and sure enough, they had secured it for safe keeping after discovering she had left it behind. Im pregnant and was craving some BBQ. This morning lace popped up on google and I went for it because it has so many different options. I got the 2 meat plate for beef, brisket and barbecue chicken. My sides were mac & cheese and potato salad. I added a side of Cole slaw to see what it tastes like. We also got banana pudding didn't get a picture. The service was good very nice. The place was clean we took our food to go. The potato salad, garlic bread, and coleslaw were delicious. The Mac and cheese really needed to be elevated. Some seasoning and some real cheese would take that Mac and cheese to the next level. You can tell It's made of a pre made liquid can cheese. It is ok but not the best. The banana pudding was pretty good. It was very heavy on the pudding and lacked the banana and cookies. In the whole container it was about 4-5 bananas pieces and 4-5 cookies. Again adding more to it would really elevate the dish. As for the meat. The meat was A1. The smoke on the Chicken was perfect, super juicy and delicious. The brisket so soft and juicy as well. Been working with Blake's for years now. They cater our Company picnic with several thousand fellow colleagues. Today we stopped by for our annual menu sampling. The service is great on both occasions. Lots of smiling people on a rainy day that's gotta tell you something. The brisket was tender moist and super good. The bottled sauce is awesome so if you want to step a bit. The baked beans wonderful. The location is in an industrial complex, you may need to seek for a spot. We threw the rest out. I like the flavors of both their regular and spicy BBQ sauces. I saw that on the catering section of their paper menu, they have a lot more sides, so I wondered if I could have ordered a pint or quart size of any of those. I also would have ordered their lemon bar instead of peach cobbler, which only seemed to be printed in the catering section. My hubs got the brisket, BBQ chicken, and pulled pork along with the same sides I had. We did a to-go order. When we got home we tore into that BBQ like rabid beasts off the leash. It was fabulous!
