Blaze is one of those places you pass by and sort of loop in with all of the generic fast food chains- you'll expect nothing too special, but it gets the job done. I finally visited for a BOGO deal recently and was happily surprised to be wrong! I liked that the pizzas are very customizable with a lot of options, which makes for a good place to go with others (let's be real, someone is usually compromising on the toppings). I tried the classic crust with red sauce, peppers, mushrooms, arugula, seasoning, and balsamic glaze. It hit the spot and was filling. At $11.99, I felt that the value was pretty good and they seem to offer deals somewhat regularly. It definitely has the uneventful fast food vibe and the employees were somewhat apathetic, but overall I would visit again next time there's a special and hunger strikes. read more

Certain things in life rely on trust. When I get on an airplane, I trust the airplane and airport have been appropriately made and maintained, and the pilots and ATC are qualified and current on training and certification. With restaurants, there is also an element of trust, specifically in relation to cleanliness. It's okay if a steak is overcooked, it's less okay if I encounter an unsanitary condition. It's worse if I bring this to management's attention and it's brushed off. Not as critical as a door [plug] coming off mid-flight, but still not great. In the case of Blaze, this applies to the container that holds the forks. While I am a man of high standards, I try to be reasonable. I appreciate management can't be everywhere all at once. I showed this to the manager on duty who nonchalantly replied stating she just got on shift. The issue was not corrected during my visit. Then there is the pizza itself. While it wasn't as amazing as I remember from a different Blaze location, it was alright. I love that the BYO options lets you customize to your heart's content, and the combinations are effectively unlimited. Now, when it comes to service there is some room for improvement. While the assembly of the pizza went great, but post assembly could've been better. After my pizza was taken out of the oven, the staffer first focused on slicing/boxing and preparing garlic bread for pickup orders that go on the rack. Look, I appreciate that those orders left the oven first. However, the restaurant is very quiet, and there is a customer right in front of you whose pizza is getting cold. Not great. Finally, I want to give *some* credit to the manager, for when she came in she did appear to be doing her best to help her staff. At the same time, cleanliness should be paramount. There is no excuse for not addressing the issue appropriately when it is pointed out. Thus, while the pizza wasn't the heaven I previously had at Blaze, I would still call it A-OK. Yet, mediocre service, and an uncaring attitude to sanitation does not invite a return visit from me. read more

The toppings options were plentiful and all were very tasty. Virtually any combination of toppings will lead to a mouth-watering pizza pie.Warning: the spicy pizza sauce 'green paper' hot, not 'red pepper flakes' hot. The sausage is a bit spicy. The roasted garlic really adds another level of flavor to the pie. I also liked the sauces drizzled on the pizzas once taken out of the oven. My favorite was the balsamic vinaigrette. I like this place, what's not to like, you get to see how they're making your pizza, a little more sauce please, a little extra cheese, please, etc. The pick two is perfect for lunch, salad and a half pizza. This is my go to lately. Although, every so often I get a whole one and enjoy it all. I like that it's thin crust and you're not bogged down by all that dough. Free parking in back, that is a big perk as the parking isn't that easy here. Haven't had an issue finding a spot, since this place mainly caters to the neighborhood and college students walking in. read more

Blaze Pizza gives the customer the option to "Make Your Own pizza", choose the Meat Lovers menu, decide on the regular pizza or even opt for the vegetarian pizza options. As a vegetarian, I opt for the Make Your Own Pizza. I like how Blaze places the ingredients in front. The customer can see and decide what to put on one's pizza. For my pizza, I choose grape tomatoes, pineapples, mushrooms, basil, fried broccoli, green peppers, red peppers, and vegan chorizo. It tastes fabulous! I like how the mozzarella cheese melts and sticks to the other slices. The vegetables retain their taste and aroma. I really enjoy eating this pizza. Joseph opts for the Make Your Own Pizza. Honestly, this place is our staple for pizza night. We like to dip our pizza in ranch, and Blaze's ranch is phenomenal. We like getting the white pizza with arugula & the meat lovers pizza. You don't really need any extra sides with the pizza despite the size being a little smaller than your typical chain or restaurant sized pizza. The workers here are pretty nice here and even manage to make conversation when it's busy on a Friday night. It takes roughly about 20-30 minutes to get your pizzas even if they're super busy, which is nice. Overall a good place to eat and a staple if you're looking to try a new pizza place. read more

I am loving these pizzas from Chicago to Connecticut. I am at Loyola University North Shore Campus for a two days conference. This is a pizza from Blaze Pizza fast Burn. Yes it is fast just a short 10 min wait. I had the Carnivore the closest to a west coast combo. Thin crust as are all the pizzas here. Portuguese Sausage, Pepperoni and ham? Covered with Balsamic Vinegar (New for me) but added a great flavor. I added a side of ranch. The place looked like a great hangout for college students. Did not see any beer of which I would have eaten at the location but my room was 1/2 block away. Plus I wanted to hit the gym first. I would definitely get another one on my next visit. Walking by my Old Neighborhood, I stopped by here BC this was the 1st Blaze I ever went to, to get a pizza. It was Just as Good as the other ones I've had! I ordered a CYO (GF) crust with spicy red sauce (my favorite), goat cheese, 4 meats (chorizo, meatballs, chicken, ham), banana peppers, black olives, garlic, jalapeños, red onions, arugula, and oregano. I've been to this location many times but after tonight I don't think I'll be back. I was treated rudely for what was their mistake. Very quickly after my pizza is put in the oven, they call the name I gave them. I look at it and say "that's not my pizza." The dude shows me the number on the pizza and the number on the page match. I say "that's not my pizza. I didn't get pepperoni. Mine is still in the oven." They accept that I know what my pizza looks like and I sit back down. A couple minutes later I see my pizza is out of the oven with no page. I tell the girl "that's my pizza." She says "ok" and then proceeds to do other tasks while my pizza gets cold. The key to making a good pie here is understanding not to add too many ingredients with high water content (e.g., veggies, sauces, etc.). Sure, the ingredients are not high-end Italian pizza dough, meat and cheese ingredients like the ones used at Eataly, Spacca Napoli, or Jimmy's Pizza Cafe, but for $8.75+tax/pie with unlimited and large variety of toppings, it's a great deal for tasty pizza! From the time placing my order and picking up my pizza, the total time is about 5 minutes (during dinner time), which is not terrible for pizza. Most places it takes about a good minimum of 20 minutes to get a freshly made customized pizza. read more

I'm convinced the restaurant pumps the smell out onto the streets as it does not smell the same in the restaurant and it's an incredibly strong smell. It always makes me want to stop for a little personal pizza dinner. We got a couple pizzas from Blaze on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They loaded our pizzas with all the toppings we requested, no holding back at all. They popped our pizzas in the oven and had them out to us in 5-10 minutes. If you love spicy, the jalapeños are the way to go. The peppers don't cook all the way through so they're extra spicier than they are on traditional pizzas. The spicy marinara sauce is not that spicy in comparison to the jalapeños. Drinks were super yummy, especially the strawberry Fresca. Highly refreshing and perfectly sweetened. For Christ's sake, they NEED to find some way to better manage, organize and distribute their online orders and pickups. I placed my (pre-paid) online order at 8:45, and I got to the store at 9:05 -- just after the "ready-by time" of 9:00 which I assume is when they called my name. I walked in and there was a disorganized melee of close to a dozen people waiting around the food preparation area, including at least one Doordasher/UberEats runner who apparently had three different customer orders that he is picking up. There were another 7 or 8 customers seated around the cafe, some of whom were eating and a few others still waiting for their orders/names to be called. As I was fairly certain that my order was already out, I stood there for over 20 minutes trying to get the attention of the two employees at the front (by this point I was ready to just leave the restaurant without my pizza and then call the credit card company to do a chargeback). By the time the young lady finally did hand off my order to me (which had been sitting behind the counter the entire time) the pizza was cold. Now, I realize that fast food workers can't just place completed orders in customer areas for people to pick up, because of the risk of people mistakenly taking or stealing others' orders (Potbelly discontinued this practice for the same reason). Believe me, I get it. But can't there be just ONE employee there whose job it is to hand off orders while the others can focus on food prep? Just the food delivery couriers alone (UberEats, Doordash, etc.,) present enough work for restaurants like this one. This is nothing personal against the employees -- the two whom I interacted with seemed nice enough and they both looked like they were working their asses off -- but the fact is you can't have two people making pizzas and then keeping track of who is coming and going. Jesus this is frustrating! I will be following up with a letter to the manager. read more

I don't like pizza but I like Blaze. Let me tell you my story... I never ever crave pizza, but tonight, instead of walking to Chipotle (because I was lazy LOL) I turned into BLAZE. I walk in, the person behind the counter is doing something with pizza dough (and whatever she was doing it looked so fresh and delicious in its raw form...) and she perks up to greet me. This is kind of a fast food place, so it's nice to get that extra acknowledgement and smile. I got 1/2 BBQ Chicken and 1/2 Green stripe with extra roasted garlic over the whole thing. Everybody was very friendly, greeting you through the assembly line. The pizza was crispy, and delicious... next time I will ask for extra drizzle because I would've wanted more of the BBQ and pesto flavors to come out. Expectations exceeded! By a mile! Decided to check this place out because I got a coupon in the mail. Actually, the coupon was sent to my apartment's former tenant - so shout out to Patricia Woods if you're still alive. Anyways, the staff was friendly, fun and helpful. And the pizza? Damn! It was great. I mean really great. Love the fact that you can build it anyway you like, and much like the Five Guys burger experience, they don't nickel and dime you when it comes to toppings. You pile on as much meat and other such goodies as you like without any silly up-charges. There's plenty of options. Lots. And the crew here weren't stingy with any of it. They serve beer. Which is awesome. And have plenty of Tabasco, Sriracha, crushed red pepper, parmesan, and Italian seasoning on the shelf to help further customize your pizza after it's served to you piping hot and perfectly fire-cooked. I also really like the fact that they had a ton of already assembled to-go boxes on hand so you can just back up and go with your leftovers without having to ask for a doggy bag. I've sampled plenty of pizza since moving to Chicago four months ago, and this may sound outrageous, but Blaze is my favorite. Like by a lot. Will definitely be returning. P.S.
