I had the worst experience here. I was told we could only do online orders so I did. I came back 10 minutes later and people was ordering at the register. 30 minutes later and all the people who ordered at the register, door dash, etc received their pizza before me even though I ordered before them. Although at this location, many of the employees seem pained to be there, I was happily surprised by the service of this girl with black lipstick. I've had Pieology countless times because there is a location in Berkeley, but this was my first time trying Blaze! I brought my little cousins and they loved it. One of them mentioned the stress of ordering in a line and not knowing if the flavors would mesh well together. I think that's totally legitimate but just keep in mind that you can take your time even if there's someone staring at you waiting for your order! Nobody wants you to feel stressed! It would probably be a good idea to take a good look at the ingredient list first though. Everyone's going to have their own preferences, but I especially love adding the minced garlic to my pizza. The garlic gives it a great kick that you don't normally get on pizzas. I also like to ask for pesto, ranch, or BBQ sauce on the side to dip my crust in. I was so excited when the Blaze Pizza sign went up at this former American Apparel location. I love this location. It's my favorite one of all the Blaze Pizzas I've been. I sit. I eat. I drink. And I watch all the people run the red lights on Indian Hill. It's what I do. The most important thing about Blaze, to me, is that they serve gluten free pizza. My (adult) kids have celiac and so this is what I have to do in order to enjoy a meal with them. They do love Blaze and how you can have them make that gluten free pie any way you like. The staff is completely lacking on interpersonal customer skills and seem to have no structure in the way they perform their work. The flow of the restaurant is completely off the rails and to be honest, if someone doesn't change this soon, this store is going to go out of business. The workers do not prepare the orders in the order that they are placed. If the restaurant is busy, they purposefully ignore all online and food delivery app orders. I am a delivery driver and have noticed this phenomenon take place not once, not twice, but 5 times I have come to pick up orders from this store. It is not only unfair, but unprofessional to ignore online orders just because the store is busy. The workers ignore the people who come in to pick up online orders. I was ignored for 10 minutes when finally someone asked for the name I was picking up for. Once I told them the name, they said "Oh its a DoorDash order? It's going to a be while, we haven't even started making the pizza." I proceeded to watch the workers ignore the receipt of the person who I was picking up for. They continuously added receipts in front of it and attempted to complete all in store orders before even looking at online orders. Managers- this is unacceptable. Something needs to change. The organizational structure of this store is garbage. There was food all over the kitchen floor, burnt vegetables in the oven, and workers having full on conversations instead of helping workers. Think about creating a cleaning schedule so that workers are keeping busy and attending to the mess being made as the day goes on. I understand this is a minimum wage job but come on, have a little pride. The workers on the oven need to be trained and reminded to attend to customers quickly and kindly. I wanted to support National Pizza Day today but my order took the fun out of it. My order was delayed and pushed back somehow. I repeatedly ask for an update and each time was told it was in the oven. Even though I ordered online, several people who walked in while I was standing there waiting for my order, their orders were prepared well before mine. If someone would have said, sorry your order got delayed because .....what ever reason, would have been acceptable. But since there doesn't seem to be a way to talk with anyone about my situation, it was frustrating. It would be helpful to speak with a manager but couldn't identify who that was. Build your own pizza with whatever toppings you like for less than $10! Obviously this is not gourmet pizza but it's pretty darn good for a casual pizza joint. They have great selection for their toppings and it's thin crust unless you pay extra for the thicker high-rise dough. The pizzas are a pretty decent size so they're easily shareable or great for next-day leftovers. There's plenty of street parking as well as a parking structure a block away. The pizzas are delicious and the toppings are very fresh. They didn't know who they were dealing with when they let me choose any toppings I wanted. I literally covered the pizza with almost all the toppings they had. They have a large selection of veggie toppings and I especially enjoyed the Artichoke Hearts, Mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and onions. They also have a good selection of meats with pepperoni and sausage topping my list. I always get the thin crust with the red sauce which gives the perfect crunch melded with the sweetness of the sauce. I have not dined in, and always order using the app for pickup and just walk right in and pull my order from the pickup shelf. When I was ordering, the employee Dez, didn't seem to be listening to what I had to say just trying to rush me along. We ordered the meat lovers which I saw included onions. The first thing I asked for on my pizza was no onions because I am extremely allergic. Dez rushes us along and kept asking "anything else, anything else?" I saw she was putting onions and my friend and I both saw her putting them on there. When we mentioned it she seemed to get annoyed with us saying "you never said anything!". My friend and I both knew I had mentioned it more than once so I didn't know where she was coming from. After she finished throwing the onions off the pizza she continued to rush and charge us.
