The service is great, the employees are fantastic. But the food? It's good except for...The ash! I don't know what happened to this Blaze. They used to be really fantastic. But the past 4 different times I've been there the bottom of the pizzas are so covered in ash that it's just gross. I don't know if they need to clean up more frequently in the oven or if there's an issue with it, but when the bottom of my pizza tastes burnt despite not being burnt and the texture is gritty and powdery from all the ash, there's gotta be something going on. Blaze Pizza is not your typical pizza restaurant. You build your own pizza, choose any toppings and sauces, all for one price for $8.45 or pick their signature pizza for the same price. However 1 topping pizza is only $6.75 and simple pie pizza is $5.55. They do serve side salad like Caesar salad and entrees salad as well. The only desserts they have are S'more Pie which I haven't tried yet, but will next time. All pizzas are served on a thin crust and oven baked which is amazing. I always ask for extra sauces if I choose the 1 topping pizza and it's not extra for asking. So how this work is like a Chipotle, but for pizza! You tell them your name and basically choose which sauces and topping you want on your pizza and it goes to an oven brick and your done! The reason why they don't get a full 5 stars is because on busy days with long lines, they sometimes burn my pizza at the bottom because they kept it too long or rushing to get the pizza in and out. I recently visited this location of Blaze during the Friday night dinner rush and was impressed with their efficiency. They had all hands on deck and made sure we were taken care of as quickly as possible. Sahara was working at the counter during our visit and she was a stand out employee! She was so friendly and I was really impressed by the warm welcome she provided despite being so busy. The other workers I encountered were also really great. Everyone worked efficiently while remaining really friendly. The menu has options for everyone (gluten free and keto crusts, plant based chorizo plus standard offerings) and everything is customized to your tastes. The prices are also really reasonable. There is a decent amount of seating inside and if the weather is nice you can enjoy your meal on the patio. It does get loud during the dinner rush. The only thing that seemed a little silly to me was that they have discontinued straws for the sake of the environment, but still provide only plastic disposable silverware and cups. It would be nice to have a reusable option for folks dining in. read more

So I finally had a chance to visit the restaurant itself as opposed to getting take out. The pizza seriously is 10 times better at the restaurant than taking it to go. My husband ordered a BBQ Chicken with spinach and basil which was tasty and I got the Green Stripe with sausage instead of chicken and it was so good! We also got a simple pie for my daughter! One thing we didn't realize when we ordered carryout was that all the pizzas are the same price and you can add unlimited toppings. This probably explains why our orders were messed up when we got carryout last time since they could've grabbed the wrong pizzas for us to go. The simple pie is the only pizza that costs less. There was a line when we got there but it goes pretty quick. I would say from being in line to getting our pizzas it probably took 10 minutes which is pretty good considering the line was pretty long. The atmosphere is definitely low key so good for kids. They also had a really expansive drink selection... I had some type of vitamin water and my husband had some type of key line drink. All in all we will definitely be back as we found it a very enjoyable experience... great place to take the kids if we want a quick and easy meal! read more

The attention, professionalism, appearance, and friendliness of the staff can range from impressively pleasant and serviceable at times all the way to "I'm on my phone (or listening to music through my one AirPod) and focused more on flirting with my coworker than realizing I need to ring-up this customer" though typically I'd say the average employee is well into the friendly and acceptable range. With a selection of doughs and crusts, a good number of options for sauces, cheeses, and toppings - all baked for you fresh with a quick turnaround from ordering to eating, Blaze has served me well more times than I can count. I love any place with a loyalty program as well. Every now and then we find ourselves with a free treat or even a discounted pizza with a long enough timeline. When I load my pizza with every single meat topping they have plus a few veggies, and the major flavor on the pie was the red onion? That's a problem. I should taste the pepperoni. I should taste the salami. The meatballs need to be yanking my tongue out of my mouth and slapping my tonsils with oregano and basil. Maybe even a little red pepper. But that wasn't there. I could taste the ham more than the pepperoni. Now maybe this is just Richmond, who's primary flavor profile seems to be "sugar", but I need more. If you're just ordering a veggie-centric pizza pie, then that should be no problem. But in no case should the red onion be the major flavor in a meat-centric pie. So for that, I give it three stars. While you wait, you can fill your drink and look for a seat inside or outside on the patio. Once your pizza is down, they will call your name for pickup. Dining room area is very big & clean. We worked out way up to the front and when we got to the counter we realized they had an army working back there!! Honestly they must have had 12 employees who were moving, hustlin, and bustlin back there to keep the line moving! You order much like you would at Chipotle or Subway - make as you go! Which was great and at the end they stick your pizza in a huge oven and in seconds it is ready! You can add drinks, salads, or cookies to your meal but if you are getting just a pizza it is between $6-$9 which is reasonable for how large the pizzas are. This place is very modern and sleek - we got our pizza to go but we would have enjoyed staying to eat as well. It was as delicious as the first time I had it. I will say that their customer service is laaaaacking! The staff pick and choose who they want to speak to and when. So, I've been waiting for this place to open. I've passed by there several times since it's close to my job. Finally, I stopped in for lunch. I was not disappointed. I must point out and say that I am really impressed with all the recycled material they used. They get major points from me for that. They have several options...it's fast pizza. I think the default crust is the thin, but you can choose a pan/high rise crust or a gluten free crust. They have signature pies or you can build your own. All the pies are personal size and have 6 slices. I only ate half, but I'm sure my boyfriend would devour the whole thing. The ingredients are fresh and even if you order a custom pie, you can make changes along the way. It's all cooked in giant open oven (I think in 180 secs or so). I really liked the taste of my pizza. The crust was perfect for me (high rise) bc that's what I like. All the employees were happy and helpful. No one seem to be in a bad mood. Is this the best pizza in town? No. But is it fast, convenient, relatively cheap, delicious and full of options for all sorts of eaters? Yes. We order here about once a week since it is one of the few handful of places that have soy free and dairy free options. There are delivery, takeout AND curbside options, and often there are online deals if you order online or through the app. I really like the crust- not too thick, not too thin. Their vegan cheese is much better than all the others I've tried, and unlike most places, soy use is limited to a few ingredients, so I can feel like a normal person again.
