A slow Monday night and they can't get it right. The service is terrible at this location. They made my order wrong which happens but how they handle is just pathetic. This place has really gone down hill and the company has extremely poor customer service so there's no way to get any resolution to problems. (The franchise location doesn't seem to have the ability to rectify any mistakes.) Over the past several months, I've had random but tolerable things wrong with orders (garlic instead of basil, banana peppers instead of roasted red peppers). But this last order...it's the last one I'll make. I ordered two 11-inch pizzas, one with vegan cheese, at 6:05 pm for delivery. The driver texted at 6:25 telling me they spoke with Blaze staff and the order would be ready in 5-10 minutes. Almost 50 minutes later, the driver arrived. As soon as I got the order inside I realized it was wrong and when I looked at the invoice, I confirmed that I was given someone else's order. My name was nowhere on the invoice and neither pizza was remotely close to what I ordered. I caught the driver before he left and told him he brought the wrong order. He just kind of shrugged. I called the location and after being transferred to 3 different people, I was told there was nothing they could do. They confirmed that my order was sitting there on the counter but they couldn't deliver it since they use a third-party. So I contacted the corporate office as suggested to request a refund since I never received an order. Instead, I received a canned response and a coupon for a free pizza. I don't want a free pizza. I want to be refunded for the two pizzas that I paid for but never received. There's no phone number to call and the only way to reach corporate is to use their feedback link on the website. I'm less mad about not receiving my order than I am about the refusal to refund it. I get that the franchise owner's hands are somewhat tied but I'm not taking another chance. Came on a Sunday for lunch, quickly ordered and received my pizza in ~5 minutes. The only hiccup in service was that I was not asked if I wanted any of the Finishes (which I did). The pizza itself was delicious. With the Make-Your-Own pizza it is possible to get all the toppings you want and none of those you don't. So if you don't like the taste that is on you then. I try to make it relatively healthy and get the Basil, Spinach, and Arugula finish. This review is strictly for the ToGo service. I have been to the store like twice since it opened and everything was great. I ordered online and it was everything BUT great. I believe the problem with the order being absolutely wrong, is from the placement of the order instructions on the paper, UNDER the pizza. The people preparing it are basically blindly making the pizza because the sticker is placed completely out of sight. I ordered two signature pizzas with very minimal adjustments and an added finishing sauce on each. A third pizza was a 1 topping with a drizzle. Every single pizza was made wrong. One was made completely wrong, and it was one of the signature ones! All in all the pizzas are always good but the execution of the online orders was terrible this time out. Not the staffs fault at all. I assume it's the management/company's issue but they are very understaffed and the online orders back up the in-person ordering process like crazy. I was the only person in line but had to wait for 6 pizzas to be made in front of me because of online orders. I know the staff is struggling with that balance. I've seen other customers get angry because of the wait. Super encourage the staff or the company to have a dedicated online order employee. With nobody in the restaurant I was still waiting 20 minutes before I was able to put my order in and had to ask to be put ahead of the online orders coming in. This place always disappoints. Please please train your people, this is ridiculous. I usually pick up to minimize the damage, but my wife loves to other through postmates. But this one is not on posrmates, they did not cook this pizza. This time at least they tried to cut out the burnt crust, but the whole pizza was dry and burnt. What's the point in calling them, when they don't care. I know they are busy, actually they are not that busy these days, last time I picked it up, and I was the only one there and they still took a few minutes to even take my order, because they were occupied doing nothing, then when I asked if I could order, they told me they had a managers meeting, which made no sense. I'm not even sure if there is a manager here, they owe me like 5 pizzas from all the low quality ones I've gotten, my kids love simple cheese, that's why I make the mistake of going back. 8/9/20 update, again I got another burnt pizza, when I pick it up I checked it this time and guess what burnt. I showed it the kid who's in charge because there is no manger he told me, but he said that it was not burnt, because the bottom was ok, but that it was just the top and the crust, this place is the worse. I ordered a pizza online and arrived 10 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready, for curbside pick up. When I called they told me my pizza was getting cooked next and it would be out in three minutes. 15 minutes later I called again. They came out and said they didn't have my order and they would check with the manager. I waited another 20 minutes. Nobody came to check on me, nor ask for my order number nor offer to make the order that wasn't there. I called again asking to speak with the manager. The manager never bothered to come on the phone. Another employee pretended to be the manager and later admitted he wasn't. They never offered me the food nor a refund. I left empty-handed and having paid for an order I never got after waiting for 45 minutes. They honestly should have taken my order and provided it on the house. When it comes to chain pizza restaurants, I've always been a fan of build-your-own pizza places. In that category, I prefer Blaze hands-down over the lies of Mod or Pieology. I've tried quite a number of their signature pies, but my current favorite has white sauce with both shredded mozzarella and ovalini mozzarella - just thinking of that particular combo makes my mouth water :-) The prices are reasonable given how tasty the pizzas are and the quality of the ingredients they use - highly recommended! read more

Great pizza. Other than the fact that I bit into this shard of something in the middle of my pizza slice (see photo). I think it's plastic. How do you get a shard of plastic into a pizza?? What utensil did the shard break off of? And if you have a broken utensil with missing shard/s, wouldn't you (a) notice and (b) want to look in your nearby pizzas to make sure a shard didn't fall into one of them? These are rhetorical questions. The important take-away from this situation is that I will hesitate before eating at Shard Pizza again. But let's be honest, I probably will. read more

This location is hands down the best customer service I've had from Blaze pizza. I went to the Alhambra location today and they did not honor our Pi Day Coupon. I had two kids with me and they decided to disappoint them by not letting us have our Pi Day even though we had the coupon in writing. I called South Pasadena location and the gentleman here was so nice. He said he would honor it and understood how we felt. We drove over and the people who work here were so accommodating. Generous with the toppings and patient with our girls and us. We loved the ambience as well. Very clean and lots of room. This will be our new Blaze location. This is what I call customer service. I decided to go there to get a pizza an hour before they closed. I wasn't sure how this was going to be done with the new regulations. I was surprised how clean and efficient they were. All the workers had mask on and gloves when handling food. They were aware of each other spacing. They had some barstools to comply with the 6 feet regulation between the customer and the worker. Everything was done efficiently and they were cleaning between customer downtime. I would definitely recommend them. There's an app you can use to pre-order your food so you can grab and go. I like my pizza a certain way and I can't do that on the app. I've been using Apple Pay to avoid touching my wallet. I didn't realize it doesn't allow you to tip with Apple Pay, and I had no cash. Felt really bad, I couldn't tip them. Next time I'm bringing a few bucks in cash. read more

I parked nearby and saw this place was in construction. Now it's open! They have a private lot with 1 direction parking, and it isn't full. That's most likely because the business next door hasn't opened yet. I went into the new location, and it is clean. There is a lot of staff, and I was greeted. A person helping me with my pizza was super friendly and put a bit more sauce than I'm used to but it made my pizza taste so much better. We shared a few laughs, and I saw coupons for BOGO later on if I went to a website and input my email. The only critique is that my pizza was a little undercooked, but I did order a lot of veggies. Maybe at this location I'll ask or "extra crispy." I love that they have huge glass windows next to booth seats. It was a very serene, tasty, and enjoyable experience. I usually get the "build your own." You can do gluten free crust, double crust for more charge. There are also salads (ask for a sample!), smores, and brownies. If you get a 1 or 2 topping pie/pizza, it's a bit cheaper. Vegan cheese is no extra charge. Their agua frescas are good as well. read more

This is a few months late. My husband's pizza gave him diarrhea. He was sure it was the pizza as he had not eaten anything else. I had food from Chipotle that night. We were wondering what went into the process of it being made, but it was the worst diarrhea he's ever had in his life! Rude, incompetent, and incredibly poor customer service. I ordered 2 pies, a simple and a high rise. The simple was made and rushed to the oven before the high rise dough was even made. Which means the pizzas will be done at 2 different times. I was not asked about the simple pie at all which I wanted with extra sauce, and no parm. I told them to remake it. Got attitude for it. No apologies, just attitude all the way down the line. The simple pie was ready and I had to wait another 5 minutes for the high rise. Hey Blaze, when a customer orders multiple pies, make them in sequence so the customer doesn't have to wait and gets one hot and one cold pie. The least friendly and inept staff I have encountered. Usually my reviews tend to be humorous and fun.... not overly critical or a rant about some issue that annoyed me. This will be a first. I'll qualify this by saying we've gone to several Blaze Pizzas numerous times and never had a significant issue. I say significant because there is one particular location that seems to struggle more than the others.... and this time, the issue was significant. South Pasadena, CA. We ordered our pizzas online for pick-up in the store. The pizzas were waiting when we arrived, so we grabbed them and took them home. It was when I took a bite that the issue was IMMEDIATELY evident... WAY TOO MUCH SALT!! I'm not talking about a tiny bit... it was so much I couldn't make it through the first slice!! I had NEVER been so compelled to immediately complain... and that leads to the second part of this adventure. I'm not sure how many of you have ever tried to call a Blaze store about an issue other than ordering food, but it is (I'm still trying as I type this) a virtual nightmare. The number takes you to numerous voice prompts which ultimately tell you the store crew members don't regularly answer the phone if they are busy. It then directs you to a website which requires you to search for the pages that allows you to effectively complain or give detailed feedback. I've tried numerous times and after typing a comment and hitting the "next" button, found myself inexplicitly re-directed back to some random page under the "contact us" section. Everything I typed, just disappeared! If I wasn't already frustrated, that very rapidly pushed me over the edge! I am aware of the fact you should never type angry since whatever is said lasts forever on the internet. I guess it's too late to stop, and I actually hope this last forever! But I digress. Some of you are probably thinking, "all this over too much salt?" Yes... enough salt to destroy the taste of the pizza, combined with no effective way to make the issue known to the store management! Add to this, the fact this always seems to happen at this particular store! Breathe..... Okay, I feel better now. Guess I'll waste more time on their website and see if I can figure it out enough to submit my complaint. If not, I'll make a TikTok of myself tossing their over-salted pizza in the trash! Good location. I've had about 6-8 individual, build your own pizzas here over the last couple pandemic years. They've all been well-made and satisfying. It's a very good pizza value. Not great pizza, but always very good for the money and I've been very happy with the customer service at the SoPas location. Update: On 3/14, I ordered a build your own for Pi day. But when I arrived, they said my order had been canceled. I didn't cancel it. I had canceled my first try because the discount reward didn't show up. The app has always given us problems. Before they have a promo like this, corporate needs to make sure the app is functioning properly. It took about 40 minutes to get my pizza. I was trying to avoid the crowds. I was not pleased. I contacted corporate but got this annoyingly vague response. Can you be any more vague? "Thank you for the feedback. We'll keep that in mind as we continue to grow and make improvements to our business." Thoughts and prayers. This isn't the first Pi day promo they've had. You think they could do it in a way that wouldn't overwhelm the stores. The workers are the ones who have to suffer because corporate can't get its s**t together. The worst customer service experience ever! Zero star on this restaurant. I've had enough of bad experiences with this restaurant, I'm not going back, which is too bad, because I like their pizzas. I placed order online and they simply didn't have the record at all due to their internet issue. This lady, probably a manager of the store (if not, she acts like one) all she wanted to say to me was not her fault. She didn't apologize for inconvenience that I'm experiencing, or try to help me to get this problem right. All she care was to prove me that it is NOT her fault. If you order online, it is likely to mess up with your order and have to deal with this manager who only cares about herself, does not care about customers, or restaurant reputation at all. I have read other reviews about this manager, I guess other people are experiencing her similar very rude and selfish attitudes. Pizza was good, no complaints. I feel for the employees during the pandemic, especially because customers have shown how mindless they can be during a global crisis. The woman that was putting the finishing touches and cutting/boxing outcoming pizzas, was a flipping MACHINE. She was simultaneously handling that, helping online/orders for pickup, and trying to monitor the flow of incoming customers (and half of the time they wouldn't acknowledge her requests to wait until capacity went down). Can the rest of the team behind the counter do the same though, and keep an eye on the flow of traffic and speak up? I don't think it's fair to have one human have to do that, because it's hard to keep up + it's socially stressful and perhaps it'll help the customers notice more promptly that they're being asked to wait. read more

Stopped by this Blaze location 2x now -- both on my way home. This place is great for quick personal sized pizzas to-go. Both times I've been splitting half and half -- green stripe and art lovers. Green stripe [grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella, arugula and drizzled pesto] used to be my favorite but now I don't think it is (based off my last pizza - I just didn't feel like it was how I remembered it to be and some of the chicken pieces later creeped me out). I've been meaning to mix it up so next time I'll order something diff! Art lovers is nice -- mozzarella, garlic, artichoke pieces with dallops of ricotta and marinara. Other specialty pizzas I'd be willing to try: Hot Link, Meat Eater, and Red Vine. Employees are attentive and friendly. Seems like a very chill place to work. Lots of open seating inside and a few outside (alcoholic beverages must be enjoyed inside). Noise level was low/mellow -- I've never actually been inside when its been busy. There was one beverage that sparked an interest -- I believe it was mango flavored beer from a brand I was unfamiliar with and there was only one bottle left! Stopped by here to pick up pizzas to go. When we got home, my pizza was completely burned at the bottom of the crust. I couldn't even eat the crust because the burned flavor was so strong. I was starving so I ate all the cheese and toppings, but without the crust, a pizza is just not the same. The bf's pizza crust was burned on the bottom too but not as bad as mine, so he was able to eat his. I've been to other Blaze pizzas, and haven't had any issues. I brought my children here after a long day to a surprise while we were placing our pizza order there was a particular employee with a rude attitude his coworker noticed abs said it's crazy in here that is not an excuse for him to come across rude to customers especially first time customers.
