I was recently at the Blaze at the Del Amo mall and ordered something similar as a comparison between the two locations. The Meat Eater Pizza is one of their signature pizzas, with pre-defined ingredients. Optionally, one can order a pizza with very specific ingredients if one wants. Last time I had the regular thin crust - this time I went with the High-Rise Dough which was noticeably thicker than the thin crust. There was a good proportion of pepperoni and sausage both of which turned out good. There was plenty of red onion and mozzarella cheese. Combined with the thicker crust dough it made for a very nice pizza. The only knock I have is that the crust was not cut all the way through so I had to use a plastic knife to cut the pizza into separate pieces. Compared to the Del Amo location this Blaze location is much superior. The inside has a little bit of an industrial look, with concrete floors and simple tables and chairs. Service was very good and everything was very clean. There was plenty of parking on the south side of the building. read more

This is the worst Blaze location. I've always had multiple issues, but today's was even worse. I showed up at 6:25pm, and the place was locked. There was a sign out front that said "online orders only from 12-7pm". So, I started an online order. When I went to pay (at 6:30pm), it wouldn't let me set the pickup for that day. Apparently, the system stopped taking orders, even though the sign said 7pm outside. So, I went inside to see what the problem was, and they said they stop taking orders at 6:45pm (even though the sign outside said 7pm). And, here's the kicker, it was only 6:35! The manager came out, said they were having a plumbing problem. If I wanted to place my order in store, and "risk my pizza getting contaminated", I could. It all seemed very strange. I mean, they were still making pizzas for other orders. I guess there was no worries about contaminating those pizzas? Anyway, I asked the in-store manager Phyllis if there was a number I could call to complain, and she said there wasn't. I would have to call the corporate offices (really?). And anyway, I've tried them in the past with other issues...no one ever picks up or calls back. It's the worst. Even if you call the location because your pizza was made incorrectly (or in some cases, someone else's pizza), they never answer. I really don't think any employee in there cares about their customers. There has been good management here in the past every now and then. But, whoever owns or manages this location really needs to get this place in better shape. It's disgraceful. read more

There seems to be a lot of new workers and one female worker with curly hair was just straight up rude. I asked for artichoke and she was taking her sweet ass time peeling leaf by leaf so I just asked her to give me a whole chunks but less. She just rudely says "that's not how we do it in our training". Bro, I'm paying for this pizza! I understand working at a restaurant sucks and customers can be rude, but don't give attitude to the customers who aren't trying to be a Karen. Workers were nice enough and the product is still good but the management of this branch is horrendous. Understaffed so online orders only. Which would be fine except the app only shows 1/3 of the ingredients actually available in the restaurant. So I still had to basically walk them through the adding of missing toppings just like an in person order anyways after paying online! I was very disappointed with my order today. The Customer service is lacking. The people working here don't care anything about the customers. The area holding the toppings was disgusting. There was pizza sauce all over the glass and on the outside. All of the little signs were dirty, broken and falling over. They were also out of a lot of toppings. The girls working in there do not have their hair covered. The girl making the pizza was playing with her hair and phone while moving the pizzas around. I don't know what happened because when they first started, they were a great place to go for some yummy pizzas. However, their customer service just went out the door recently. This was an awful experience. Went in at lunch time and was the only person in line. I stood infront of 2 people working for minutes and was not greeted. Finally one made a pizza for me and the prep area was a mess. Girls were complaining about co- workers while making my pizza. Once pizza was done there were now 3 people working and the guy wouldn't cut pizzas coming out of oven. Located in the Rolling Hills Plaza off PCH and Crenshaw near by the Whole Foods and Bed Bath and Beyond. Lots of parking. This place is not that big they have a fair amount if tables. Similar to Pieology you can choose from the signature pizzas or you can create your own. We got one pizza and halved it I got pepperoni and spinach. We also got the 4 dough knots which were yummy. They are addicting. Overall I like Blaze as equally to Pieology. I'd come back if in the area and craving pizza. For first timers I'd recommend this place as well. read more

I just ordered a Chicken BBQ pizza. I asked for sea salt on it. The pizza had so much mozerella cheese it was so greasy. I counted 6 small cubes of chicken on entire pizza. Two slices had such a high amount of sea salt those pieces were not edible. There was almost NO a red onion on the pizza. And four skinny lines of BBQ sauce. Haven't been to Blaze in a long time and I guess I remember why. Disappointed. It's pizza. Shouldn't be too hard to get it right. read more

While the food is decent the cleanliness of this place is severely lacking today The glass and counters were very dirty , the signs were old and crusted with food , the glass shield was full of dust . There were old dried up spills and who knows what bacteria was growing in there . The stainless steel shelves near drink and napkins area was also very dirty with trash lying on floors near there. I am truly surprised that this restaurant has the health code rating of A. There is food all over the floor. At least when I was there, it obviously had not been swept in a very long time. I guess they just clean it up really good before the health inspector arrives. This being said, this is a popular, fast-paced predominately to-go pizza restaurant. Though they do have a large number of tables inside the establishment if you want to eat there. The high point of this restaurant is that you get to create your own pizza. Meaning, you get to choose the ingredients that they put on your pizza. But, as far as I am concerned, the low points of this restaurant out weights the high points. For me, the dough is just not very good and the vegetables just do not seem to be all that fresh. For example, I had (among other things) spinach put on my pizza but I came to find it was very dry. I believe they should really either find better vegetables or keep their vegetables in a more controlled environment. With this, they may remain fresher for a longer period of time. In addition, on their menu they state they have beer and wine but when I inquired about this they said they do not serve any alcoholic beverages. Thus, you are limited to drinking their soft drinks out of a machine or bottled water. So, why do they have beer and wine on their permanent menu? Overall, at least by my appraisal, this is not a bad pizza joint it is just not a very good one. read more

With $7.45, you can get all the toppings on your pizza that you want! First up at the counter for creating your own pizza is picking your sauces. They have classic red sauce, spicy red sauce and white cream sauce. I chose to get the white cream sauce. Next up is choosing your cheese. They have shredded mozzarella, ovalini mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, gorgonzola and feta. I chose to get the shredded mozzarella. They also have vegan cheese After the sauces and the cheese comes the time to pick the meats. They have ground chicken, salame, goat, pepperoni and meatballs. I chose to get the ground chicken. If there are lots of meat, there are also veggies and other goodies! They have a quite variety of veggies and toppings with roasted red peppers, sauteed onions, artichoke, spinach, fresh basil, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, green bell peppers, red onions, chopped garlic, roasted garlic, zuchhini, pineapple, black olives, kalamata olives, jalapenos and pepperoncini. I piled my pizza up with spinach, fresh basil, mushrooms, chopped garlic and zuchhini! Last but no least you can top your pizza with arugula, ground pepper, sea salt and oregano. I got some oregano on mine! Once all the toppings are chosen, the friendly folks here go off and bake your pizza! It comes out in a jiffy and you are treated with a nice, warm, freshly baked pizza! My friends and I had a great time at Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza! Morale and customer has dropped here significantly. They mope around and take no pride in their work. Specially this young Hispanic guy with blond streaks in his hair. Rarely makes eye contact. I notice he also works for nektar which is in the same plaza. They burn pizza and offer no apologies doing so. Not sure where management is and why can't they be a little upbeat. This place used to be my go-to spot. Not anymore. More than bad food for me is BAD customer service. They score an A for that! Horrible experience. I absolutely love the idea of being able to custom order my pizza while watching it being assembled. Subway or Quiznos does it for my quick sandwich needs, Chipotle does it for my quick burrito needs, and now Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza does it for my quick pizza needs. It costs $7.45 to create your own 11" pizza and you can choose as many toppings as you want. Let me repeat that last part in case you didn't catch it...(ahem!) you can choose AS MANY TOPPINGS AS YOU WANT!!! That's right, no limit and they won't charge extra for most toppings. Pile on the veggies...ALL of the veggies!!! :) One exception is the Daiya vegan cheese for an extra $2. Yes it sounds pricy and I agree with the one reviewer who said that someone who orders Daiya on their pizza would probably offset the costs considering they are not getting any meat. On the other hand, I consider that for about $4.50, I could walk a few doors down to Whole Foods and buy an entire package of Daiya. At least they weren't stingy with the portion. They used a scoop that's about half a cup and he topped my pizza with at least three generous scoopfuls which is about half a package of Daiya. So I am very grateful that they have this option. As for the rest of my toppings, I went with sautéed onions, roasted garlic, basil, artichokes, zucchini, mushrooms, kalamata onions, and arugula. I also went with Classic Red Sauce on half of the pizza and Spicy Red Sauce on the other half. I'm glad that they went with a thin crust because the portion was more than enough for me. My only gripe is that I would have preferred the roasted garlic to be cut into chucks rather than biting into whole cloves. But I suppose you can't properly roast garlic if it were cut into chunks, could you? The Blood Orange Lemonade sounds like a good idea but it just tasted like a super sweetened beverage to me. Service was awesome! Everyone on the staff was so friendly and helpful. The line was fairly long when we got there at 6pm or 7pm on a Saturday. It even went out the door by the time we got in line. It moves at a medium pace. This is a fairly new restaurant so I'm hoping over time they will figure out how to speed things up. Tonight I noted they have a HEALTH DEPT. 'B' ON THE WINDOW!!! Here's why, because I witnessed it tonight. Not only do the employees not change their gloves frequently but the Manager with the Go-T walked in and out of the kitchen at least 4 times while I was waiting for my food and he kept rubbing his hand up his nose like a little kid whiping away snot on the playground, then he would run his hands all over the Go-T. I was so disgusted i threw the pizza away. I almost asked for a refund but it was busy and I didn't want to make a scene. You started out a great place to eat, but this was the worst. I have seen photos of good looking Blaze pizzas that friends on various social media have posted. They have emphatically raved about how good the Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizzas are. The concept of building your own pizzas is great. However, my partner in dine and I were left disappointed. As you order at the counter, you choose the type of sauce. We went with the white cream sauce. For the vegans out there, they do have a soy cheese option as well as a gluten free crust option for those that require gluten free. There are plenty of fresh topping choices from the meats, vegetables, and spices. The staff fires up your pizza and your pizza is done in lightning speed. The toppings, cheese, and spices all were delicious. However, the crust was a bit chewy. The crust would have had a better, crispy texture had they baked it a little longer. The pizza makers and cashiers are very courteous. The eating areas and restrooms are clean. On the wall there are some inspirational quotes. Parking options are plentiful in the busy shopping center. If Blaze steps up their game, they can be quite competitive in the sea of pizza establishments in the South Bay. read more

Yay! Torrance finally has a Build-Your-Own-Pizza place! Similar concept as Pieology in the OC. Imagine Chipotle or Subway but instead of burritos and sandwiches, it's PIZZA! For $7.45, you can build your own pizza with unlimited toppings! And customize it however you want! They also have predetermined combos such as BBQ Chicken, etc. but if you're going to come to Blaze, I highly recommend customizing your own! I got a pizza with spicy red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, grilled chicken, basil, roasted garlic, sea salt, and oregano. The pizza was ready within 5 min. So fast! My pizza was delicioussss and I loved how it wasn't too greasy either--all the higher quality ingredients made it more of a gourmet pizza experience. I especially LOVED the roasted garlic pieces! The crust was also amazing! It was thin and had a perfect chewy texture (not too crispy, not too bland). It was just right! I was only able to finish half the pizza. It's definitely bigger than a personal pan, a good size for 2 girls to share. But if you're a guy, or just starvin' like a Marvin, then definitely get a whole pizza for yourself. I picked the regular thin crust, then added spicy tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, chicken, artichoke, spinach, mushrooms, black olives, tomatoes, roasted red bell peppers, garlic, and oregano. This customized pizza is then put in the blazing open flame to cook, and after a mere three minutes I was ready to enjoy my own creation. I loved it. It's about $8 for a pizza, and the standard size pizza is filling for one adult person, and I think it's big enough for 2 to share or bring home leftovers as a 2nd meal for later The concept of an unlimited toppings bar to build your own pizza that doesn't charge by the item or by weight (and they'll stack up anything you want on your pizza and as many items, so don't be shy, but also don't be gaudy either) is one of the appealing factors. The pizza is made fresh to order and only takes about 3 minutes to make in their ultra hot oven, it doesn't go through any microwaving conveyor belt quick heating system like other places, this is a real fresh oven baked pizza with a crisp thin crust. This location here seemed a bit understaffed or overwhelmed when I visited, but the service was friendly. It's refreshing to see these types of places hire young students as their "1st jobs" to build the youth to become responsible adults. This used to be I think the Posuito Mas Mexican restaurant, one of my favorites, so it's nice to see it's been replaced by another favorite, Blaze.
