This is an awesome hole in the wall bar with tasty food. We shared the fried asparagus and squirrl nachos for apps. They were all delicious! We also got a variety of burgers. The Amish blue cheese burger had a creamy blue cheese topping that was delicious. The Artery clogger was also a big hit literally... It was HUGE! This burger has ham, bacon and a hotdog on a hamburger patty. Lastly I shared the Squirrel burger which had 4 pieces of cheese, 2 patties and a half a pound of bacon on it. It was good but I would try a different burger next time. The fries are nothing to brag about the onion rings would be a must next time. Overall this is place to stop at if you are in the area and craving some bar food :) read more

We stop in here every year for the friendly staff and amazing peanut butter burgers!! They blind squirrel nachos are also a must have when we are in town(squirrel sauce is amazing!). We had the daily pasta special which was a basil buffalo chicken which was delicious, a friend of ours had the chicken kabobs and said they were delicious, tender, and juicy! And two orders of the FAMOUS peanut butter burgers which were amazing as usual! Our waitress was fantastic and consistent! Thank you for always being a great spot for dinner! read more

Very cool little joint! Options to sit at high tops in the bar area or more casual tables and booths in a dining area. For drinks there were several draft options. My favorite was the Founders Rubeaus Nitro (omg if you havent tried the nitro version you're missing out! ) I liked the unique food menu. Believe it or not the PBB&J burger was really good! My wife and I agreed that this was probably some of the worst food we have had in recent years. However, in all fairness, it was bar food. (Of which I am not a big fan.) That aside, when we asked the wait person why the fried food was so dark and overly greasy. She said it was late (7:00pm) and that it was Sunday. Poor excuse for very poor quality. The fried pickle chips were not crunchy but instead slimy on the inside with a dark crunchy oily fried breading on the outside. Fortunately they served it with ranch dressing. (Which by the way was the best tasting thing that showed up at our table for dinner.) The Mac and Cheese the 6 year old granddaughters had was tasteless. One of them described the taste as watery flavored cheese. The lettuce in my side salad had more than an acceptable amount of brown wilted leaves. The all pork sandwich was mostly cheese with very limited amount of ham, pulled pork, and bacon, and like everything else very greasy. The positive for all of this horrible food was that I had a very healthy BM this morning. I believe every bit of what I ingested last night is gone from my system, thankfully. The atmosphere/interior is what it is...a tavern with video games and sports playing on the tvs. The food though is a whole different story. I ordered a burger with cajun fries and both were so delicious! The fries had a perfect amount of spice and the burger was cooked to (my) perfection. The specials there are great as well. Now you wouldn't think a tavern would have any dessert to write home about. However, this place proves that theory wrong. Their dessert was so darn good, I still daydream about it. The gooey cinnamon piece of heaven topped with a giant mound of creamy icecream...it was beautiful. And it tasted so darn amazing! I'd travel back to fremont just for that alone. read more

I stopped in on a Tuesday night about 6:15. It wasn't very crowded but soon started to fill up for trivia night. I had the cowboy burger with onion rings. Both were awesome!!! The burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. The BBQ sauce was proportional......slightly messy but not terribly so. The o-rings were light and crispy with a tempura like breading. read more

The food is good but could be better. Portions are never the same. I can order and appetizer one time, get a lot... the next time it's half the size. For the amount of waitresses, seem to always be waiting longer than I should. They do have a great deal on burgers on Mondays. But like I mentioned, food could be better. read more

If you are in the mood for a burger this is the place to go! Tater tots are out of the park too! Get them with a side of squirrel sauce! They have a very yummy play in nachos with potato slices, the American Nachos are very tasty. Lots of beer on tap. It can get noisy and crowded on the weekends. read more

I am local, and I go to the Blind Squirrel 2-3 times a month. There is nothing special about the atmosphere except the staff...very friendly and attentive. Great burgers and they also offer tator tots. I usually get the shrimp salad. It's a large portion with lots of shrimp and it's amazing!! The food is very good, prices are reasonable. Ate here with my sister. We had hummus and chicken kebobs, a healthy alternative to the traditional burger, wings, fries, etc. that you find at bars. (They have those as well) Not alot of beers on tap, but a good representation of some Michigan microbrews from Grand Rapids and Mt. Pleasant. This is a bar/restaurant, very informal. There is little else to do on a Saturday night in Fremont or Newaygo County for that matter so if your looking for night life you are in trouble. But I would recommend this place for beer and food. (Could use a better wine menu, but maybe it's not a big seller here.) read more

Just moved to the area from Cali. Heard about this restaurant, and stopped in today. Had the "Original Popper Dip". It was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to bring in the rest of the family to try the rest of the menu. The service was great too. Loved Brenda and got to meet the owner as well. They both were making sure to say hello to all of the customers and make sure everyone was happy with service, atmosphere and food. Love when you really get quality food with quality people. What to say!!! Not good stopped saturday evening with friends for a couple drinks I had a beer kinda hard to mess up my wife and her friend had margaritas NOT GOOD!!! Not sure what they where going for but it was not even close to a margarita it actually had a yellow orange color not a green lime color. The Blind Squirrel- A good sign this was a place people come to eat because the parking lot was full! We found a spot and inside the smell of steak made your mouth water! We we're given a table quickly, which was a surprise because the back dinning area was full. Didn't really matter because sitting in the bar area was just as comfortable, and we got the last table. Service was excellent! But the food! Oh, so yummy. Watching the plates coming to the other tables made our eyes big!! We wondered if we should have ordered what they had. But first bite told us, we could order anything here and it would meet our expectations. Just as we were leaving, the ball game crowd starting piling in. Can't wait to come back!!! Week after we they are consistently the best restaurant in Fremont Michigan hands down. We do take out 5 times a week and then depending on their Saturday night special we generally do that as well grilled salmon, beef and chicken kababs, the best burgers here in Fremont and hand held flat bread sandwiches they are phenomenal!! They have the best portobello mushroom appetizers as well as their cheese curd puffs they rock. End of story. read more

I wasn't sure about this place when we walked in but I am soooo glad we sat down and had dinner. Good choices and the food was very good. Don't order takeout....apparently this is the opportunity to rack up the profit margins. After we had a few drinks we decided to take home some food- should have looked in the boxes before we paid for it. Serving sizes were a joke- a third of what you would get in house. Called to complain - manager suggested I bring it back they would remake it for us. What a gyp. Generally speaking, this is a great place to dine! The menu has lots of tasty and creative items, and the cooks are good at what they do. Of course there's an occasional mishap when it's crazy packed, but being packed is usually a good sign in my opinion. The trivia nights are always a big hit, though I'm sure stressful for the staff! A few dishes are lackluster, but overall I love coming to the Blind Squirrel and always have a positive experience. read more
