There is a reason this full-service salon gets 5 star reviews, and is the best in Santa Cruz County. Ben Rush, the owner and head stylist, is a great person who truly loves the business he has created. This is obvious when you walk into the doors of Bliss. It is clean, offers quality product at good prices, and is covered with Ben's beautiful artwork. He has worked so hard over the last couple years getting Bliss to where it is today, and he is constantly improving things. He has selected a top notch staff, because Ben is a man of perfection and wouldn't have it any other way. He is an amazing hair stylist, and this comes from first hand experience. I am a guy, but I am well kept and like to look nice for the ladies. I have always had trouble finding a place that would cut my hair correctly. My hair is straight, and I like simple cuts, but they are hard to come by these days for some strange reason. I have paid $12 to $50 from Santa Cruz to San Francisco (literally), and have never had better results than when going to see Ben. I first went to Bliss in the summer of 2007, and since then not one person has touched my hair. I referred numerous people to Ben at Bliss, including my sister and my girlfriend, and they have loved what he has done to their hair. I have also had the privilege of experiencing two facials by Lori, and they were amazing. She is so kind, and professional. My face has never felt so clean and healthy. I have also treated myself to a manicure by Karla as well, and that was nothing short of a great experience and a fun conversation. I will say again, that I am a guy, and I would have NEVER done any of these things at any other salon. Their friendly attitude, and great customer service welcomed me, and made me feel comfortable in a place where a lot of guys wouldn't. Plus I have had AMAZING results. The staff at BLISS is a handful of QUALITY people, that also happen to be great at what they do. This full-service salon is nothing short of 5 stars. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Everyone there is loved by there clients, and if YOU love your hairdresser, and you are so confident that they are great (which they very well could be).... go sit in Ben Rush's chair and I can guarantee you will not be going back to your old hair dresser anytime soon! After hearing about Bliss for quite some time now, I decided to take a trip down to Aptos about a months ago. The place is so nice! The owner introduced me to all of the staff that was working that day, and they were all super friendly and upbeat. The salon itself is not like your typical salon. The lighting is ambient and the products are spread throughout the salon. Every chair is in a different area of the salon, in a different room, so there is plenty of privacy when getting your hair done. The art on the walls is really nice, too! The owner of the salon, Ben, did an awesome job cutting my hair. And I am sure glad the chairs were spaced away from each other, because we were laughing like maniacs... He is so funny, our personalities clicked right away. It was a very positive experience. Even one of the other employees walked in and asked what the laughing was about. I asked him to just do whatever he wanted to my hair, and I walked out of my chair looking like a new me! I recommend Bliss to anybody who is looking for a great haircut in a more upscale atmosphere, yet wants the chill vibe of the employees. Bliss Salon is the absolute best place to have your hair done. Ben, the other employees, and the atmosphere are always upbeat and friendly!. I have been seeing Ben for my hair for several years, and even though I have moved 3 hours away, I still drive down every 6-7 weeks to have my hair cut and colored!!! My husband thinks I am crazy, but I won't go to anyone else!!! Ben always has a vision for my "look", and I always leave the salon more than satisfied. Bliss has a lot of great products to offer, but they never try and push anything on you, like a lot of places try to do. Also the massages by Yolanda, are the best I have ever had. I am a dental hygienist, and I am constantly having neck and back problems, she makes me feel relaxed, and also gives me tips for better posture and exercises I can do at home. Straight up amazing service. I recently moved out to Santa Cruz from the Midwest and have been in search of a great salon/stylist for the past few months. I was desperate to find a hair stylist when I went to see Mia at Bliss. I had been going to the same hair stylist in San Jose for a few years but got tired of paying a lot of money and not getting what I used to get as far as service. So I started looking around in the Santa Cruz area. Bliss was down the street from a salon and stylist who had pretty much ruined my hair. Very bad cut, very bad color. I saw Mia at Bliss the next week because it was so bad. Since then I've seen her about 4 times. She's gotten my hair healthy and the color is perfect! I also took a good friend of mine there when she was visiting from Hawaii. She had many issues with her hair due to health issues. Mia made her hair look fabulous. It was literally life changing for my friend. I would recommend Mia to anyone. I've also started going there for waxing and nails. Overall a great salon! read more

I love Bliss Salon! Not only is Ben entertaining and a great hairstylist, Bliss offers amazing makeup, hair and skin products as well. I can spend hours going through all of the products. I went in to get my hair cut and colored, and ended up staying for a facial done by Lori. She used Eminence Organic Skin Products, which was shockingly refreshing, smelled great, and made my skin so soft. Lori had soft music on, and a water fountain in the room, candles lit, which gave off an amazing aroma, and she was super friendly. Not only was my facial amazing, Lori gave me a neck and arm massage as well. By the time it was over, I was so relaxed that I didn't want to get off the table. I recently had an appointment with my stylist "Laura". This was my first time seeing her at Bliss Salon. I had heard about this salon before but never had reason to come in until Laura became part of the Bliss family. Needless to say "Ben" was so welcoming when I first walked through the door. It's a very cozy atmosphere decorated in "Ben's" amazing art work. Laura as usual gave me a banging color and cut. I came back the very next day for my three year old daughter's first salon experience. Once again Ben and Laura were so nice and welcoming, and very sensitive to my daughters feelings as a "first timer". My daughter walked out of that salon with a huge smile on her face with the great little bob that Laura gave her along with her much deserved "Princess" treatment. Thanks to the reviews on yelp I started going to Ben for cut and color. He is amazing and very passionate about what he does. Ben uses the top of the line Italian color and always does a fantastic job. He really wants you to be satisfied with what he does. I used to walk out of other salons feeling terrible about my hair and almost in tears every time, I always thought it was normal to feel that way after I got my hair done, I thought I just needed to get used to it. That was until I started going to see Ben. When I walk out of Bliss salon I am always very happy with my hair. I noticed someones great hair cut at the capitola mall and asked them which salon they go to. I called and made an appointment with Ben Rush who I was told worked miracles with damaged hair. My hair had been over processed and looked lifeless and dull. I was greeted by Ben who was funny and friendly and immediately took control and told me what he would do to bring my hair back to life. He also suggested that I shorten the length and bring some hair forward around my face to soften the look. WOW! I just kept looking in the mirror... My hair color has never looked so natural. I've been having my hair cut by the owner Ben for a three years. He is a fantastic stylist and a real sweet heart too. He had cut and styled a friend's long hair and made it look so beautiful that I had to find out who she went too. I was surpassed to find out that he was a former student of my husbands from SLV High. He has just cut my hair in stylish short cut. I've never gotten so many compliments on a hair style before. I just, "Gave it up to him", and said do whatever you want. It is probably the first time I've ever had such trust in a stylist. Customer service - they do not have! I went to Laura at this salon and loved the way she cut my hair. Today I called to make another appointment and left a message. Ben called me back and left a voice mail. He said Laura would not make an appointment for me because I had missed too many appointments. I called back and got the answering machine. I told them I had been to Laura once on a certificate I purchased through a school fund raiser and I had never cancelled an appointed on her. I was very unhappy! He called back and left another voice mail that maybe I wasn't the person she though I was, but hey, no hard feelings. Bliss salon is a must! I've been coming her for 15+years and can't find anywhere else that compares. I've lived in Los Angeles for the last 8 years and continue to make the trip to see Ben. Something that takes 4+ hours in LA only takes Ben 2, with much better results. Blonde is tricky, but not for Ben! The salon also offers a great collection of product. It's my go to when I need to stock up on haircare and skincare. Bliss carries a huge collection of Eminence, which is the best skincare I've ever used. 10/10 recommend. I have been to several salons and I can tell you that Bliss in Aptos is far and away the best... and for several reasons. The atmosphere and decor is amazing...very relaxing, tranquil, and clean. The salon is light, bright, and has an elegant touch to it. Another reason I have had such great experiences at Bliss is because the service is impeccable. Ben Rush is an amazing artist! When he first cut my hair short , I was instantly thrilled with the style and almost got in an accident on the way home because I could not stop looking at my hair in the rear view mirror. Love Heidi! I will follow her anywhere. Best Brazilian hands down. She uses a hard wax that is painless and doesn't cause gross ingrown hairs. Plus she is nice, funny and super thorough. She makes the whole experience so easy you forget you are half naked and getting your hair ripped off. Parking is awesome. Easy to get to and right off the freeway. Also this salon is beautiful!
