Took out all the ice, this is all I got ‍

Finally got a chance to try Black Dot that is near my work. This is my first time and might be my last. I ordered a large Matcha latte. It tasted good, but it was a full cup of ice. All I got was less than half cup of matcha with milk. This is very disappointing and discouraging to spend $7 on it

First time trying Black Coffee. Recommendation of staff was great. Service was so helpful. The sitting area was very nice. Plenty of seating inside and out. I really enjoyed the Spanish latte. I ordered it half sweet and it was perfect! I'll definitely go back!

This BlkDot Coffee spot is tucked away in a industrial/furniture store zone area in Fountain Valley - far enough away to not get overcrowded - but still, relatively easy to get to if you know where to look. I stopped by on a weekend to get some work done, and to try their Matcha - which everyone seems to rave about. I picked up a Large Iced VTMatcha - which has a base of Blkdot's version of Vietnamese Iced Coffee, topped with matcha, and then your milk base. The drink came out layered - and I sipped it for a bit before mixing it up with a straw halfway through the drink, since I wasn't getting much of the coffee otherwise. The matcha is great - rich, flavorful - very good quality matcha. The coffee is a nice touch, gives you a boost of energy and caffeine, and while I got my drink with whole milk, I'll probably try it with Oat milk next time since that tends to bring out flavors too. There's plenty of seating throughout the cafe - the decor is great, bright and airy. There's one restroom, but it is kept clean, so that's a plus. Outlets are far and few - but I usually carry a portable power bank with me anyway, so no issues there. Service is prompt - a small line in front of me when I stepped in, but my drink only took a few minutes after ordering. Lots of parking in front and on the side - as mentioned, this is in an industrial park/furniture zone - so there's not as much traffic here. It is on the way to the 405 freeway, so if traffic looks bad, you can always stop by here to wait things out. I'll have to come back to check out their pastries. The avocado toast looks yummy, but I already had lunch at the time of my visit.

3/22/26, First time at this coffee shop. Actually the cafe mocha that I ordered wasn't bad; a bit better tasting than the overly sweet cafe mocha from Starbucks; although for nearly $7 for this tall size which actually looks at a medium cup is a bit steep in price. Not sure if it's really worth it, but it was fairly good tasting.

Found this new favorite through uber eats this morning and I am impressed! Happy that I discovered it because I'm not in fountain Valley very often even though it's just a few miles from home I got the iced sea salt cold brew and it is absolutely delicious! I don't like my coffee too sweet, but I also don't like it black and this was just perfect! The cold foam offered just enough creaminess and sweetness that it made the perfect drink. And the sea salt component is something that will keep me coming back. I also got the hot honey avocado toast with bacon, and it was equally delicious! I would've liked just a little bit more avocado ratio to the thick cut toast, but I will definitely re-order both of these on a regular basis!

I've tried the Irvine location and know this place makes great drinks with a variety of options! I got the Regular Uji Matcha Latte Einspanner. It was a bit more watered down than I expected T-T I ordered from doordash and I'm hoping that's the case. Aside from that, you can taste the flavor of the matcha and its creaminess! I gotta give it another chance without doing a delivery system.

I normally like the VTMatcha. But this time it was just very disappointing. The coffee tasted burnt and was not good. Staff was friendly. Small spot to come hang and have coffee.

Darcy gave me great customer service and helped me pick a tasty drink!

I treated myself to three shots of espresso with coconut milk, and listen... I could not be happier to finally have my Christmas cup. I swear, out of all the coffee shops, this is hands-down the best holiday cup. On the back it says "'tis the season for a latte love," and the front has this little black dot that looks like an ornament -- adorable. The quality is so nice, and honestly? The coffee is unmatched.

Cute interior and merch! The Iced Dulce VTM Latte with oat milk was good but it had a lot of ice so the drink didn't last too long.

I ordered a large hot latte from this location and was really disappointed. When I went to take a sip, I found a piece of plastic inside my drink. This is a serious safety and hygiene issue. For a place serving hot beverages, something like this shouldn't happen. I expected better quality control, especially for a simple latte. I hope management addresses this, because it definitely makes me hesitate to come back. I reached out to them in IG direct message, but no response.

Stopped by as we started a road trip and this place got us off to a great start. Plenty of parking in the lot. I got a Spanish Latte, less sweet, and it was soo good. Would definitely order again. Also got a sausage cheese bagel sandwich. There was a bit too much chipotle mayo sauce for me but it was still delicious. Very filling, very tasty. Highly recommend. But it's a messy sandwich, especially because of the sauce, so be prepared. Overall excellent first time here. Great coffee and food.

Blk Dot is my all-time favorite coffee shop because of their LVTM, VTM, matcha, etc. The inside of this location is beautiful, light, airy, and expansive compared to the other locations. It's a great place to get your coffee and study/work. It's located very close to the 405 fwy, so it's convenient to grab and go as well. There are a lot of furniture stores nearby, so you won't be distracted to go somewhere else; you'll stay put and study/work. The service is always friendly and kind. The decor is so cute for Christmas--not too much, not too little--just right. It's got that clean-line, modern, minimalistic vibe which is perfect to keep my mind clear of clutter and distractions. There's lots of merch, coffee, and coffee-related items to buy as well. Parking was easy. The only down side is that the food can be pricey.

Iced Tea and Iced Matcha with Berries

Indeed, "Sleep is Overrated." This place ain't for the faint of heart or the casual caffeine consumer. It's a battleground for the true coffee connoisseur, where only those with the most refined palates (like myself) dare to enter. The coffee? Let's just say, one sip and you'll feel like you've just powered up for your next marathon--whether or not you even run (and I can't). "Coffee, I need you" and it's becoming an obsession. The matcha? Oh, it's not just matcha, it's CEREMONIAL GRADE matcha. If you're the type who enjoys that sweet fake matcha from grocery store canisters, just do yourself a favor and rewire your entire taste bud system. Blk Dot isn't here for your sweet tooth; it's here to get your bootie outta bed and racing toward your dreams. Go ahead, take a sip, and feel the transformation. You're not just drinking coffee; you're forging your next cup of ambition. 10/10! Blk Dot definitely deserves a text back unlike the last guy I met on Hinge.....

The other challenge was in the picture you'll see that it's not very big and the ingredients are on one side and the other almost half of the burrito is folded tortilla. The staff was very nice and accommodating, but the value just simply isn't there. There are a lot of places that have a really good burrito that have much more in the way of ingredients inside it and cost the same. If he looks at the picture of the breakfast burrito on this Yelp and compare to my burrito, you'll see that the one in the Yelp pictures got twice as many ingredients not mostly tortilla as you could see on the left of my picture. I was deciding on where to snag lunch on my way to another store doing my rounds and I really wanted a sandwich. I decided to get the Turkado, some dirty Maui chips and drink. The total came to $17 and some change, not bad about the avg for the area and any lunch. The service was great, the woman who helped me was nice, and efficient, she helped me select what chips to get. Not much bantering but I do enough of that at work, so all good here. The store was clean, nice vibe, music. My order was ready in the time it took me to fill my soda cup and sit down to scroll 1 scroll thru outlook emails. Maybe 5-7 mins the woman who gave me my order asked if I wanted some secret sauce on the side, and put it in the bag. The bag felt heavy! The sub was huge! Probably 8inches bread was nice and springy, there was enough lettuce, tomato and sauces on it. I love the sunflower seeds, gives it a nice little crunch. The meat is more of a very thin piled high but there is a lot of it! I like how the sub is assembled meat, cheese, toppings sauce, it seems to hold together nicely.

This review covers my experience across multiple locations, including Harbor Boulevard in Costa…read moreMesa and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. When I first started coming to Board and Brew, I would have given it a solid five stars, but my perspective has shifted after six years of exploring other local options in the county. The Evolution of the Experience: * Ingredients: While the food is definitely better than a pre-made deli sandwich from a grocery store, it isn't exactly top-tier. The bread and meat are good, but as you try more specialized places, you realize these are fairly standard. * The Famous Sauce: Their signature sauce is tasty, but it feels like it contains a high amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG). MSG is a neuro-exciter that can make people feel overstimulated or unwell after eating it, and it feels particularly intense in this recipe. * Consistency: Both the Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa locations were great initially, but they now feel more like a solid, middle-of-the-road option. The Best Use Case: * Catering & Events: Even with a three-star rating, this is absolutely the place I would go if I needed catering for a birthday party or a large event. Their pricing and preparation for bulk orders are hard to beat. Final Thoughts: If Yelp allowed half-stars, I'd probably give this a 3.5. It's a reliable, solid sandwich shop, but the ingredient quality and the intensity of the MSG in the sauce keep it from being a five-star favorite for me anymore. Edit: The owner replied to my comment about how their food is high quality, but 6 years of taste testing says otherwise. While you may not add pure MSG crystals to your sauce, it still contains MSG.It is misleading to claim "No MSG" or "High Quality" when the sauce relies on ingredients that are chemically identical to it. For instance: Tomatoes and Tomato Paste: These are among the highest natural sources of free glutamate. If the recipe uses tomato paste--as many copycats do--it will test positive for MSG. Soy Sauce & Worcestershire Sauce: Both frequently cited in recipes for this sauce, these contain naturally occurring MSG through fermentation or hydrolysis. Nutritional Yeast: Often used to provide a savory flavor, it naturally contains high levels of glutamate.Hydrolyzed Proteins: Ingredients like "hydrolyzed vegetable protein" (HVP) or "yeast extract" are processed specifically to release glutamates. Legally, a company might say they "don't use MSG" if they don't add the pure additive, but that is a technicality. MSG is linked to various health issues for sensitive individuals, and just because many consider it "safe" doesn't mean it's healthy or non-harmful. If the food is truly "high quality," why rely on these additives to create flavor? Best Wishes
