Big fan of BLK Dot coffee. Espresso is bold and shines through in each of their drinks. The flavors of the speciality drinks don't overpower the coffee flavor. The pumpkin spice was delicious when it was in season but my go to is the Spanish latte. I've also had the brekkie bowl and it is a solid breakfast choice. Packed with flavor and very filling. I am a huge Blk Dot fan already to begin with, so when I stumbled upon their grand opening in Fountain Valley - I was so excited Such a good study spot - they have good wifi, seating, outlets, and space! Parking was chill too - it's near a few furniture warehouses/stores so parking isn't too hard to find. All the baristas there were super sweet and just looked really happy to be there lol and they were really fast with making my drink! I of course got an iced chai latte, because they have one of the best I've ever had here. I tried the matcha eispanner here, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. When I asked the barista why it had cocoa powder (which seemed odd), he didn't know either. I thought maybe it was part of their unique spin, but when the drink arrived, it just looked like a regular matcha latte. It tasted overly sweet and had too much milk, with only a faint matcha flavor--not the bold, grassy taste I was hoping for. Honestly, it reminded me of a Starbucks matcha drink, but not in a good way. On the positive side, the parking here is great, but after all the hype I saw on Instagram, I was pretty disappointed. This coffee place is definitely trendy, they have such a huge variety of coffee drinks that sometimes it is overwhelming trying to figure out what to order. They have einspanners, they have viet coffees, etc. Sometimes I can stand in the line for a good 5-10 mins and can't figure out what to order. I recently tried their einspanner series and got their matcha one, since that one was so popular. I ordered a little less sweet because I am overly conservative when it comes to sweetness. Unfortunately the match drink fell short and the sweetness did not pull through the matcha taste. Was kind of disappointed at that, and I only got it 75% sweet. Lesson learned, not sure if I would come back, I'm not sure what their speciality is since they're kind of all over the place. I hope they can just feature a few really great drinks to highlight their space, otherwise, there are plenty of other coffee spots in the OC that are better tasting. read more

I was served by two sweet humans. Both of them gorgeous (you know who you are.) The coffee was delicious. I tried the honey spice latte -- my lady barista explained that it has a bit of a cinnamon kick, which intrigued me and enticed me, as I am quite a fan of the spice. I opted for "hot" instead of iced since the weather has gotten what Californian's call "chilly." The music playing in the cafe was nice. It was slightly loud, but there weren't too many people inside to balance it out so I didn't mind. The lid to the hot drink is very well made which is a huge plus while consuming hot drinks. I definitely avoided the terrible "spill all over my chest" mishap that has happened at other coffee joints due to their flimsy products. 5 stars for many reasons. Underground cafe for studying or catching up with friends! I live close by and never knew they opened a Blk Dot in Fountain Valley, so I will definitely come back for more. Drinks: I tried their iced Ugi Matcha Latte and Very Berry Matcha and they passed my expectations considering they used culinary grade matcha! I loved the color of the Very Berry drink and it kind of reminds me of the Starbucks dragonfruit refresher. The berry flavor blends so well with the matcha as it's not too overpowering. The ugi matcha had the right amount of sweetness and I know it would taste so good with oat milk. Ambience: Plenty tables to sit at as it's really spacious. I love the decor and aesthetic signs, they sell merch and other coffee related items as well. Service: The baristas were really kind and chill, and they helped make the ordering process easier! Others: There is free WiFi with the password at the front counter where they give you your drinks. They also have mobile orders that you can pick up right away! Incredible matcha. My order (I like my matcha strong and not super sweet) : 16 oz half sweet matcha with 1 oz extra matcha nonfat milk. FIRE. It was so good. High quality. Brewed coffee is no big deal Americana a little stronger not by much. They did not pour a whole cup of coffee 3/4 should have been fuller we'd like it black we've been asked before if we want to leave room for cream, should have filled it up. First time here no big deal. I don't like coffee with fillers so if I'm going to come in for a cup of Vietnamese coffee I want just the coffee nothing else in it and you don't have a choice. This is my boyfriend and i's go to coffee spot!! My boyfriend only orders their iced VTM (Vietnamese iced coffee) and loves it everytime- taste and quality are always consistent. I usually ordered an iced VTM einspanner (only difference is this sweet foam they put on top- it compliments the bitter creamy coffee notes perfectly). Once in awhile I order their lattes. I recommend their Spanish iced latte. Today I ordered their seasonal iced maple walnut latte. The walnut flavor tastes unique. It isn't overpowering and is a perfect ratio of sweetness for a latte. I've never tried anything like it and I love it. Ived tried one of their iced teas before as well that had little jelly pieces at the bottom which was yummy. I crave it once in awhile but I'm a coffee person for sure. The interior has some seating, and some comfy seats as well. Very berry matcha is made with houseware berry jam muddled with real berries. They also sweetened the jam with strawberry syrup. They use cane syrup on the matcha. To make my order slightly less sweet they offered not to use syrup on the matcha just the strawberry jam and strawberry syrup. A great stop for matcha because they have several locations read more

I really love this place but today nothing about your staff was positive today whatsoever. I understand when you order thru a third party some drinks tend to take longer depending how busy it is . I walk in 5 mins before my estimated time my drink would be ready, which is understandable I'm early . I communicate to your staff member I have arrived for my drink and proceeds to tell me it will be ready in 5 minutes . I end up waiting 10 minutes for my drink. As a restaurant manager I totally I understand. My problem is the employee with blonde hair who I told I was here for my drink is making drinks and for other customers starts sucking his finger in the middle of a drink due to getting some syrup on his finger . Ummm ewwwww! Instead of washing his hands I guess it became easier to lick it off . Please show your employees a food handlers video and show them the proper hand washing method.
