This is for the Louis Vuitton salon at Bloomie's...amazing!! I was on a retail fondling (Thanks Cara Y for that gem) mission while my watch was at the Cartier spa for the day. I am very dedicated to this process...and take it very seriously. I tried on many shoes and did a clothing and handbag sweep of Bloomie's...nothing really grabbed me. I poked my head in Louis....and there she was...my heart's desire!! I am not a fan of brown, so normally Louis Vuitton does not resonate for me...but I do admire the workmanship. She is a very dark burgundy patent leather satchel...simple, except for the Louis embossed design. Justine was wonderful, patient, not pushy at all. It is so interesting that this bag was designed by Marc Jacobs...I have a great handbag by him in my collection already. In the end I adopted her...and she rode home in her carrier on BART with me. She will be treated with the respect she deserves!! read more

For whatever reason, there is no Bloomingdale's in San Jose. So given the opportunity I did a little shopping in their SF location. It's just like any other "luxury" department stores. (Nordstroms, Macy's, etc) Everything looks nice and smells nice, but don't expect to find any real bargains. You're paying for the name. I normally buy my cologne around the day after Thanksgiving, but since I was already here, I went for it. Freddy was fantastic and should be given some sort of promotion. Sure I didn't buy any of the cologne's he suggested, but he his service was vastly superior to what I normally expect from the cologne section. Overall, a nice place, but busy as you would expect seeing as how it's right in the middle of the heart of San Francisco. read more

A trip to Union Square is not complete without a stop into Bloomingdale's. Since I was there to exchange some jeans we headed up the escalators straight to the 3rd floor where I met a sales associate who knew exactly what I needed. I love these kind of sales people- all of you women out there know what I'm talking about.. These are the kinds of sales associates that know their merchandise well. And just by looking at your figure, they can determine which jeans will look like they were made just for you. She was able to look at my pear shape (umm yes that means my big derriere) and recommend the exact names of the jeans that would look good on me. And, she was spot on. Usually won't write complaints, but this one is a must... Very bad experience at Bloomingdales in Westfield San Francisco Center today. (2018/09/01) The women with accent who is in charge of the CPB makeup counter around 4pm called me rude twice when another kind salesman walked by kindly offered to help me try on several different foundations on my face and I said yes. Am I supposed to just stick around and wait for her while she went away when there was no other customers at the counter and she didn't offer to help me try on the foundation? Not professional at all. She even yelled at the salesman who offered to help in front of me which shocked me totally. I have not seen anything like that in any department store what so ever. Decide to leave without purchase anything. Super disappointed and won't come back to this Bloomingdales ever. read more

When I have to use the restroom in the Union Square area, I look no further than Bloomingdale's in the Westfield center. Individual stalls that small of rich mahogany, stocked toiletries, Toto porcelain urinals and sinks (Superior to Kohler) and a small lounge area for waiting (perhaps for a loved one having lengthy bowel movements)-all create a superior public bathroom experience. Why I'm not giving this shining example of human waste management a 5 start rating, is rooted in the the rather curious placard placed at eye level when seated on the toilet, asking in a rather Orwellian fashion, to report large bowel movements to management. To be clear, it does not ask, in fact, it states an individual MUST report said bowel movement to management. I took a photo of said placard and posted it on Flickr. What I'm even more curious about, is the senior management that need to speak with the violators of said bowel regulatory requirements. What customers, outside of merry pranksters, would approach an already overworked floor manager to report their waste violation? How can they anticipate the size and girth of said bowel movement? All in all it seemed a rather myopic approach at human waste management and do hope they remedy the situation going forward with greater tact. read more

"Are you high maintenance?" a fellow asked me the other day. I thought about it, and boy did that question burn me like the sun. I never considered myself to be high maintenance- heck, I can't even spell the word without my autocorrect. Anyway, why I mention this is because I think there is a common misconception to people who want quality and those who want expensive things. Of course, I have always identified myself by the former, but I suppose those who are high maintenance could do the same. That's why I'm here today to defend my case, by writing a Yelp review. I believe that everyone (or most people) have something or things that they place a higher value on, whether it be art pieces, art supplies, cars, housing property, clothing, dining, electronics, limited-edition action figures, etc. I believe everyone is entitled to do so. Who is anybody to preach limits on your passions, interests, or indulgences? Pish posh. Why is shelling out $3,000,000 for a painting praised while spending $150 on a pair of jeans looked down upon? Somebody took the time to design their perfect piece of art to flatter and shelter our bodies (with fine Italian cotton and higher knee breaks to make the vertically challenged look taller!). ---- Onto the actual Bloomingdales review..... I got my favorite pair or Meg-washed Joe's Jeans Provocateur here. Never have I had such a pair of jeans that made my legs look the way Meg did- never. Unfortunately, my inability to treat Meg properly (take her to the dry cleaners) led her to be torn. We've had four good years together, Meg, and you will always hold a special place in my heart. You are my splurge of choice, and I heart you. Now, there are a few reasons why I prefer Bloomingdales over Saks: 1. I can't afford to shop at Saks. 2. Everyone who shops at Saks is an upper-class White person. 3. Bloomingdales has nice and helpful employees, the complete opposite of the workers at Saks look at me as if I was some sort of hoodlum. 4. Haha, well. It's every girl's dream to shop at Bloomingdales, right? What I could afford is a Christmas ornament, and that was about it. I did buy stocking stuffer candy, as the store had an interesting assortment of various, unique choices for the season -a really fun and singular experience. There was absolutely no staff to be seen except who could be found behind the checkout stations-I wouldn't be a regular here because customer service was non existent-there was just no one around. Being in SFO and in Bloomingdales was a fun experience-I'd recommend going, but more to experience the entire Westfield mall than Bloomingdales itself. read more

I love bloomies. I think, because it's new, it's finally having the kind of sales i was used to from a bloomies...like when you find something for $30 that you just can't believe. At first, I was a bit put off by the swankiness, but it has grown on me, MOSTLY due to the rad sales they have had (they're starting to loosen up!). The frequently run 40% off shoes, and most recently I got a marc bag for 50% off! I'm never that thrilled at the men's section here, though my husband loves that they carry paul smith. I tend to do better at the impulse section of Macy's, but for those high-end items Macy's doesn't have, i'll take this bloomies over the sf nordstrom anyday! read more

I will give zero stars if I could. Terrible terrible customer service, in store or online but online orders suck big time! I ordered a theory pant and they sent a shirt instead not once but 3 times! This was after calling each time and making sure they knew difference between a shirt and a pant. I literally had to educate them for full 30 minutes about what is wrong with my order on third instance, even after they did the same mistake 3 times! And then they tell me that the right time is out of stock. Well , if it was out of stock why does it show on your online shopping portal? And why send the wrong times three times , not just the right kind of pant but a shirt in place of a pant??? Bunch of scammers. Any experimental AI project in place of bunch of incompetent people will do better in this store. Also they charge your card 3-4 times for the same item , so make sure you check your credit card statements repetitively when dealing with this hugely incompetent company. Yes ladies ~ as of 8/15/2008 I got my very first Louis Vuitton bag courtesy of Bloomingdales. I am no longer a Virgin ~ Louis Virgin that is. This Bloomies is a shopper's paradise! And being that I command excellent customer service - these guys deliver. I am a denim junkie and they have a whole side of designer jeans dedicated to filling this need. After a stressful week, a dear friend and I jetted to Bloomies and satisfied our shopping needs! Not only did I find the best black cigarette denim jeans but I found a classy Louis Vuitton purse to go with it! I also signed up for a bloomies credit card so I can get points towards Bloomie's certificates, thus getting more $ for my shopping sprees. Love this place! It gets me HIGH. And since I baptized myself as SFSHOPGIRL this place allows me to live up to my name. BTW - if you're looking for parking, there's parking right across the street at the Mission Parking garage. Not a big Bloomingdale's fan generally. I don't really love department stores. The deals never seem as impressive as other sources of goods, the salespeople who work on commission can be a bit aggressive, and it's just not as specialized as going to a boutique or a specific store for a specific need. That being said, in fairness... my friend found three things he liked, the salesperson was helpful and polite, and he was happy with his purchase. There was a big Labor Day "sale" event with discounts of 40% and over. Throughout the store were signs hawking a 75% markdown. So I excitedly fingered a blouse--don't remember the label, but probably from some gay manorexic designer--thinking that I would be able to walk out of here with a smartly purchased bargain, a reasonably priced item. The tag read $799. At first I thought, "Wow! Joc! Deal! Score! (I lose the ability to use verbs when I find a good deal) 8 bucks for a blouse!" Suffering from obvious delusion and temporary disorientation I suddenly remember that I was not, in fact, at my regular haunts TJ Maxx or Ross. That blouse was $800, but marked down to $200. I would like to update my review for Bloomingdales in general first. It's a pity that Bloomingdales is sort of merged with this unrefined thing called Macy's, but I see that Bloomingdales stays to it's true colours and stays classy and upscale;so kudos for that. I prefer Bloomingdales all the way. Anyways, in general Bloomingdales sales associates know their stuff at least from my experience in the fragrance department along with the vendors. Currently the only downside is that this location really lacks many fragrances it used to have, what happened? Bloomingdales in Southern California is beyond great and in general Bloomingdales treats me like a values customers and makes me want to come back for more. I really admire their burberry and Ralph Lauren. I always have a good experience conning here for the most part, other times some associated just want you out the way but I know who to go for when I come here. NOW, this particular Bloomingdales lacks customer service somewhat but way better than Macy's. Give me bloomies anytime with it's classy and upscale atmosphere. Bloomingdale's has EVERYTHING and I'm in love with everything here! I'm not from San Francisco, so when I do come to SF, I have to stop here! I can't wait for the one they are going to build closer to my home in San Jose! I've gone to this Bloomindale's for their great and wide selection in purses and shoes, their great sales they have all the time, their great selection of denim and a lot more. The customer service can be a hit or miss though. They have a great reward point system as well. If you are not part of the reward program, enroll! They just sent me a $50 credit to spend there for accumulating how ever many points! Keep in mind that sometimes they have double and triple points days :) P.S. I recently bought a Chloe purse that was more than 50% off!! One time Nordstrom had their anniversary sale and put some Chloe purses on sale and they were all gone within the first hour! While walking on level 2 looking for women's pea coats I spotted the Women's lounge. I turned and told my boyfriend I am going to use the bathroom and dashed in. Bloomingdale's has the best bathrooms in the entire Westfield Mall! The women's lounge is awesome. There are couches where you can rest your feet and the stalls are luxurious. I am in love! Anyway, on to the actual store itself. They offer a wide variety of selections. The staff is really friendly and attentive. Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars is that their fitting room areas are really unorganized. There needs to be one person that manages this area. The girls there goes in and out so they do not know who is in line and whatnot. I was sitting there waiting and these sales ladies just walk in with a customer to find a dressing room without addressing those who are already in line. read more

Being a 'typical guy shopper' - I have to say I go rarely, usually am a few seasons (or few years) out of date, and generally hate dealing with picking out new clothes. Today, however, I had a really great experience & thought it worth the review... I was browsing about aimlessly, knowing I needed some clothes, but not sure what. A few sales people did the perfunctory 'need any help' - though I must admit they muster more enthusiasm in Bloomingdale's than in most stores - but when I followed up with a question the first guy was kind of so/so on helping. Then I got a bit of help finding a pair of jeans from Jackie - she helped me figure out what I liked/didn't like by looking through 4 different brands of jeans - and when I was trying them on pulled a number of shirts for me that were very well suited to what I was going for (which I described). She was patient with my amateur questions, provided opinions and wasn't snotty at all, etc. Basically turned the shopping experience from 3 stars to 5 stars. I rarely give out my phone #/email while shopping, but gladly offered it to her so that she could let me know about sales and/or help me out next time. So, Bloomingdale's, keep employees as helpful as that and you'll have satisfied customers (plus I went from spending $200 to ~$1,000 because of her). read more

I was in Bloomingdales in San Francisco on Friday when a young man asked me if I had dropped some money on the floor. He reached down and picked up a large sum of money. I told him it was not mine but he needed to turn it into the store. He refused and said that he was keeping it. It was close to $2,000. I called security, they came, and they let him walk out of the store. What if you had mistakenly dropped this money out of your purse or wallet and the store security did nothing?? I called the store on Saturday afternoon hoping to talk to a manager to express my concern, as one of their customers may have lost these funds. I called 9 times but only got referred to voicemails. It is so disappointing that as a customer of Bloomingdales, no one from the manager on down did not contact me from the time I called just before 4:00 PM until they closed at 9:00 PM. The management demonstrated a total disregard for the fact that one of their customers lost close to $2,000 in cash and disregarded my concern about this issue. read more

I'm not much of a shopper, but this Bloomingdale's is huge and super conveniently located. If you're coming by car you can stay at Fifth & Mission right across from the back entrance. If coming by transit, the Powell Station connects to the mall on the bottom floor. I'm usually a Neiman Marcus shopper but I happened to be in a San Francisco for a work trip this was near my hotel... and I wanted to shop for some makeup products! When I entered from the 3rd floor there was a small makeup (looked like a pop up counter with RMS beauty products?) area. I asked the girl where the Chanel and other makeup counters would be and she wasn't very friendly. I made my way to the first floor- and found the Chanel! I asked the girl about a powder foundation and a bronzer. It looked good in the mirror so I went ahead and bought them... but when I arrived back at the hotel and looked in the mirror with natural lighting, I looked like a clown!! The bronzer was orange on my face (I looked like Donald trump lol) and the powder just sat on my skin and enlarged my pores and didn't look good at all. I had to wash my face and redo my whole face before heading out to dinner. The next day I took the unused products back to the store for a refund. The same group of Latina girls at the Chanel counter were there. I explained what happened and that I just wanted a refund for the unissued product, and they made it very difficult. They told me "maybe you don't know how to put on powder foundation? Do you even know what moisturizer is?" The Latina girls working the Chanel counter are bullies! I have used Chanel products (and a Mac powder foundation that blends in smoothly) for over 15 years, and they were criticizing me just so I would buy more stuff and not return the product I was unhappy with! I finally asked "am I not allowed to return an unused product?" Since I'm pretty sure Bloomingdale's return policy states that I can return an unused beauty product of it doesn't meet a customer's satisfaction. Finally they stepped down and pretended to be nice and eventually gave me a refund. After this horrible experience, I will never bother shopping at Bloomingdales again! read more

This place is soooo picture worthy. If you enter on the "correct" level, you can see their wonderful holiday display... complete with lights lights lights trees trees trees and CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND. the sales associate and manager were grossly misinformed/untrained but overall doing the bare minimum (overworked underpaid I imagine). my experience today with Bloomingdales was horrific. I purchased a pair of Birkenstocks this morning, $150, full price (not on the F&F) and with tax the price came out to about $162,163. I promptly arrived at this location around 4pm, after getting the notification that my item was ready. upon inspection, after my card is charged--I noticed that the toe (the Birkenstock is fur lined) had yellow gunk on it and the suede seems a bit dirty. I asked if there was another pair I can swap it out for. Nope, ok. So I decided to return it. That's when shiet hit the fan, so to speak. The total that was going to be returned to my card was $138. I didn't understand why--if I paid $162/163. The sales lady said that it is most likely the loyalist points--that I had returns that basically ate into the loyalist points and so I end up owing. Even AFTER I told her I rarely make returns and just recently spent a little over one hundred on spoons/forks/knives...so I don't understand...I rarely purchase from Bloomingdales (why would I since inception of netaporter and the likes). she kept saying, it doesn't matter--the points were deducted...ok...even though I never used any loyalist points off towards a purchase? 'Yes' she says. She later on brought the manager who was just as dense, and couldn't "review" my history to see why $24.44 was deducted from the return. I called the # they gave me and after 5 minutes of navigating the stupid phone tree branches...I finally got a live rep who was confused by the explanation I repeated verbatim from the sales lady...Donna..had no idea why the sales lady said what she said. I didn't have a negative loyalist balance (duh). the reason for the deduction? APPARENTLY THEY ISSUED A $25 GIFT CARD TO ME RIGHT AFTER THAT PURCHASE (which I wasn't informed of via email or anything so I didn't know and clearly those two didn't know either) and because it COULDN'T be voided and was "on its way" to me, they deducted THAT $25 from the return I did. RIDICULOUS. I don't want the card, and the card is just essentially another marketing gimmick. Let's face it. Nothing in that store rings up to an even $25 with tax included. Either I have to spend more, or I forfeit some of that $ of the $25 if I'm under. Basically it's another way of getting me to spend more $$ with them. and they were going to penalize me for returning an item that earned a reward I wasn't even aware of or care for? I haven't shopped much in Bloomingdales--my history just shows three online purchases--and I tell you I won't ever spend a penny here again. Not a fan of Macys either--and with netaporter, modaoperandi, totokaelo, and yes--even anthropologie/urban outfitters (that carries Birkenstock thank you)... I have no need for this corporate ridiculousness. I'd advise you to shop elsewhere too instead of putting up with this BS. read more

I was not impressed with Bloomingdales. The clothes selection wasn't eye opening. The lighting was too white. The clothes were hung on plastic hangers. It seemed more like an outlet mall than upscale shopping. The items on sale looked horrible and the items not on sale looked unflattering. The cologne section looked like an empty hospital emergency room. I don't even think there were ghosts shopping. After many floors of exporation, I concluded that this place was just another shopping experience. I actually prefer Nordstrum over Bloomingdales. The Facade of the place was wonderful though. Came in to browse the shoe section this weekend and scored! I went straight for the women's shoe department, which was busy and made my way to the hidden sale section. I immediately found a pair of black leather 3 inch cowboy style booties for $96, which was a fair price for that type of boot. I was helped by a really polite sales lady who was very apologetic for not helping me sooner. This was a very pleasant shopping experience and I'm glad I came. On Wednesday August 18th I was visiting San Francisco from Chicago, a girlfriend of mine went to the Louis Vuitton boutique inside of Bloomingdales at around 5pm with every intention to purchase items. I personally have never bought anything like that for myself but my friend is a huge Louis lover and collector, she convinced me that this is the day that I splurge on myself while she purchased 3 jewelry items that she was excited to add to her collection. Those plans were abruptly stopped when we walked past an empty podium with not only no attendant but no signs. A man quickly approached us and blurted out "who let you in here???" I gave him a weird look and joined my friend at the jewelry case where 2 other employees looked to be sorting something with their backs turned, the male employee followed us over there and questioned us again "did someone let you in here or not?" I replied "excuse me??? No no one has helped us yet thank you for asking" with a forced smile on my face. The two female employees quickly turned around and apologized for not seeing us sooner and explained that there could only be one customer per employee in the boutique since there was a man in there first and my friend came in for very specific items I offered to wait outside. As soon as I turned around to head out the rude employee returned with SECURITY!!! I was so mind blown and offended I immediately asked if he just called security on us and he at first denied it before proudly puffing his chest out and saying "Yes!" One of the female employees quickly replied with "No of course not! You're both welcome to shop here!" My friend quickly went from excited about her next purchase to insulted. We quickly shared our disbelief in the way we were being treated and quickly exited while the male employee looked accompanied and the female employees looked confused the security apologized for the confusion and asked if we wanted to come back and shop. We declined and my friend pointed out that there was no attendant and no sign and and that we would absolutely NOT spend a dime there. The male employee followed us a little way making some smug remarks and I told him not to worry about it I'd make sure to follow up with a review. After such horrible treatment we instead purchased Louboutin and Versace shoes from Neiman Marcus where we received EXCELLENT service and felt valued. I've been called a "clothes horse" to my face. I do dress well but never pay retail. The Joseph Aboud brand men's suit made in Montreal Canada (This is Bloomie's lowest cost suit label) is priced $795. I bought the exact same suit for $279 at the Nordstrom Rack. Sure the Bloomie's has lots of open floor space and pretty marble floors. That ain't sufficient reason for me to pay more than double for any clothing article. Bloomies . . . it's the shiniest store that I've ever seen! The slick urban decor makes me feel like I'm on the set of a fashion magazine. Though it's predominantly out of my shopping range, I managed to site a few clearance racks that made me smile. A entire row of St. John's items were on sale at an additional 50% off. On a side note, they have the most beautiful restrooms, a welcome destination for a tired shopper. I was even able to convince my husband to use the men's room, he who NEVER uses a public restroom. As we spent nearly 4 hours in the area, he felt comfortable enough to use the restrooms twice . . . enough said! read more

Bad bad BAD experience!!! Bloomingdale's shame on you!!! Came here today to return $569 worth of Zanella pants bought on line. This location had a return/exchange counter near the entrance. Great!!! This saved us time looking for someone to help us. So good job! Unfortunately the positive experience ended here. The person at this counter greeted us & asked how he could help. We explained that the 3 pairs of Zanella pants were double creased & were not acceptable. Adolfo proceeded to examine the pants & wondered out loud "oh I can't believe Bloomingdale's would send you something like this". Now, is he wondering if we're lying because "Bloomingdale's would never send out something like this" or is he shocked & felt bad we received defective products? Well, let me tell you how it made us feel... it made us feel scrutinized just because my husband who bought the pants is African American. To make matters worse, Adolfo now must step away from the counter to get the "manager"... WTF??? We've made returns at Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Macy's, Nieman Marcus, among other stores & never has anyone say to us that they need a manager to approve a return, & my husband's name & our address is on the original receipt. So I asked Adolfo after being gone for what seemed like an eternity, "does a manager need to approve our return?" He replied "no" but wanted the manager to see the condition of the pants. I asked him to please start the process of the return & his manager can look at the pants on his or her time, not on our time. Luckily for him, the manager arrive just at the nick of time & hastily looked at the pants & said "yes, do the return" but never entered an approval code on the handheld device, scanned a manager's badge of override, or even said "abracadabra" to unlock the "hold" on the return. If my husband was "white", would he be treated in this manner? I think not. Again, shame on you Bloomingdales. You've lost a very good customer.
