This is a review of customer service only. I spent 39 minutes trying to substitute one gift canister of tea for another because the one that I ordered was backlogged. The person asked me for my name and address five times, the recipient's details three times, argued with me about whether the recipient resided in Sarasota (she does ) or Orlando (because he had heard of it ). Then he said that my credit card was declined. I gave him another and he said it was declined. I asked if he used my zip or the Florida one and he told me to order it online! I'd wasted enough of his day. Good grief. I know that the holiday season is stressful and especially during the pandemic, but don't blame the customer who is being kind. read more

I absolutely love Bloomingdale's! It's gift giving time, also time to sneak in a few presents to myself. To Me, from me, with love. If I'm shopping for fragrances - Bloomingdale's is my favorite spot. They won me over a couple years ago during "Perfume Week", I bought a gift set of John Varvatos for Women. It came with a blue Bloomingdale's duffel bag stuffed with trial samples of almost everything that was "hot" then. Now every year around Christmas, Valentines and Mothers Day, I go check out the Fragrance Gift Sets. This year I'm asking Santa for the following perfumes: Balenciaga Paris Collection, Viktor & Rolf: Flower Bomb, Lola by Marc Jacobs and Dior Addict 2 (I'm out). I LOVE playing with makeup and these counters are awesome, I'm a fan of Benefit and come for touch ups at the Brow Bar. I was there a few days ago and peeped the new gift sets and fun products. The lip gloss sampler is a perfect present, who doesn't love gloss. The makeup artist working that day, did me over a little and left me glowing and ready for my party. Bloomie's and I go way back, my first credit card with Bloomingdale's. Back then we didn't have one in SF so it was fairly safe for me to go splurge in Palo Alto. We no longer use credit, but I'm still a big fan of Bloomingdale's. Always brings back memories. read more

Service at this Bloomies is fantastic. I usually head up to the 4th floor at the Men's dept. and hit up the clearance rack! LOL I got a set of scarf from Paul Smith on clearance for only $60. Regular price was like $300. I also bought a John Varvatos T-shirt for only $4, and regular price was like $75, and a tie from Hermes for only $30, regular was $180. Oh... I almost forgot to share, don't forget to head down to the first floor. They have a huge clearance and sales rack for kids too. I have a lot of niece and nephews, and so I just buy a bunch since their birthdays are usually months apart from each other, all year round. This saves me the hassle having to go back and forth. The sales staff here will even box them up, wrap them like Nordstrom, and off you go, with your "Mary way" ...along with your "Big Brown Bag!!" :p Before you leave, I suggest browsing their crystals at the main floor (behind the perfume dept), and check out their Lalique Crystals. I purchased Christmas gifts and had them shipped to my family in Florida. Two weeks pasted and no tracking number at all. I thought my gifts were lost for good. I didn't know what to do because I did not have my receipt. I went down to Bloomingdales SF and expecting to be there for hours trying to track my gifts. As you can imagine, I was stressed!!!! Then Business Manager, Sandra Alvarenga located my receipt. With her quick thinking, she introduced me to Kandy Wong in Fine Jewelry Department. Sandra explained that Kandy is good at tracking packages. Less then 20 minutes, Kandy found my package. She fixed my package label and shipped it out. Days before Christmas, they provided me an awesome service! It was such a relief and I could not believe they fixed it just like that!!!! Thank you Sandra and Kathy for your awesome customer service! Because of your customer service, my favorite department store is now Bloomingdale's. read more

I went to Bloomingdale's for a pair of Chanel sunglasses and almost left the store empty handed after I had already paid for my merchandise. The SA who helped me reeked of marijuana. She was definitely out of it. After I chose my sunglasses, the SA went in the back to grab me a new pair. The case she gave me was an ugly puke green so I asked for a different one. She went in the back again, put my case in the bag and handed it to me after I had paid. Luckily, I decided to admire my new shades as I was putting my credit card away. When I opened up the case, it was empty! Apparently the SA forgot to put my sunglasses in the new case when I requested a different one. I could have left Bloomingdale's with just an empty case. I'm just glad I discovered this while I was there. Who knew if they would even believe me and give me my sunglasses once I left the store. Also, I don't live near this area so it would've been such a hassle to come back here to sort it all out if I discovered it at home. I went to Macy's first, and the cold service matched it uncanny, so.. I left. While at Bloomingdale's, an Angel dropped out heaven named Holly. Kind, genuine, down to earth, she listened, supported me, and slayed the job. I felt valued, encouraged, and she completely changed my mood. It's rare as a minority to feel like that in a big city while shopping especially in high end stores. It really felt like one of those Christmas movies when you see people shopping and they seem so happy. I will encourage whoever reads this to promote her, build her up like she did me. Mixed feelings about this place. They have a HUGE selection of designers. It's non-stop...Major brands to small "getting started" brands. They usually are well stocked as well. The layout of the store is pretty basic. The bathrooms are clean and pretty big. Why the 3 stars? Some of the sales reps are WONDERFUL!!! Super helpful and patient. While some are very pushy...almost too pushy in where I don't want to buy what I have in my hand. I get to a point where I just want to go to a different store or even shop online. read more

Had a negative experience with a sales associate in the Max Mara area today. I was having difficulty navigating the store due to the lack of signs / store map. The associate did not bother to look at me or try to point me in the right direction, while saying "it's on that side". Seems like I'm not alone in having an experience like this (see below). I was considering adding to my Max Mara collection from this Bloomingdale's next. Really did not want to write this review but my negative experience today makes me hesitant to come back. I am visiting San Francisco this weekend from LA on a business/pleasure trip and have always wanted to check out a Bloomingdales store. This location is around the corner from the hotel I'm staying at, so I visited this store for the first time today and received wonderful service from every associate I encountered. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and very welcoming. I went in looking for some cashmere scarves in the men's section and the gentleman informed me that most of the winter fashions were not available anymore, yet he went to take a second look in the back for me. Unfortunately, there weren't any left, but he was very gracious. Then I went to the Bedding section and kept looking at these light throw blankets, when a sweet female associate (I believe her name was Lily) came over and showed me more designs at a nearby display table. I kept going back to those blankets and by the third time, I finally gave in and she joked with me how I fell to the temptation and that it was meant to be. I also visited the Men's Accessories department and fell in love with a gorgeous bag and Robert was an absolute rock star. He helped me out so much with the purchase and was very professional; really going above and beyond with his services. The two ladies at the Visitor Center were also delightful and they provided me with a 10% courtesy discount voucher from my hotel and gave me a small travel accessory bag as a gift. I was in the store for well over an hour and found the layout to be exceptional. There are 4 or 5 levels, all presenting luxurious items as pieces of art you can't ignore. All time favorite place to shop for my kid. But this time it was beyond the worst shopping experience in quite some time. First, the "sale" person looked like she was a customer waiting in front of the register...with a jacket,phone and I believe a purse. After few moments I asked if she is also waiting for someone to assist her, but surprisingly she answered no ..."I work here". Ohhh...great ...I'm here to get some shoes for my son from MIKI HOUSE( the most expensive brand they have in the store) , he loves them and I want to surprise him. I asked for assistance and she told me that I need to look on my own and whatever is there is there .... She can't help in that department...she is in kids polo and she doesn't know much about that brand ( MIKI HOUSE) My answer to her was that she is definitely a great "help". Since I specifically come in to buy shoes and shocks I looked on my own ...pulled all the bags with socks till I found my size and cashed out. This review is more for my experience with Kathy Ausano down in the Home Dept .. more than it is for the whole store ... Last week I was in need of an OONI 16 inch pizza oven for an event I was cooking at .. I called around SF , and most stores were sold out of it ... when I called Bloomingdales , Kathy answered the phone . She assured me she would set one aside , even though they were closing in 45 mins . When I got to the store 15 mins later , She was waiting for me with the oven out and on a cart ready to go . When I went to pay , I asked if they priced matched . It was cheaper at William Sonoma at the time , but WS was sold out . Kathy was happy to match the price , and I was super happy w that. After the sale , She offered to help wheel the cart with the oven all the way across the street to the parking garage where my car was parked . all in all it was a great experience , and I wished there were more sales associates like Kathy ! They had a really cool promo going that day...if you have a Bloomie's card, they give you a token...you put the token into a crane machine and try to pick up a box....then you get whatever is in the box...any thing for a $25 GC or $500 GC. We got 2 $25 GC...so that was really cool...such a generous promo! A lady got 2 boxes while I was there and when we went to redeem our boxes, the concierge told us that the lady had 2 $500 GCs!!! There was three employees for that area i asked them if they had a Donna from valontino a lady asked her ( Manager) and the manager said : we don't have it . I visited the shoe department looking for a specific brand (Nicholas Kirkwood). I asked a store associate if Bloomingdale's carried this brand, and she looked me up and down and responded skeptically with "hmm..is this an EXPENSIVE brand?" I informed her that in fact Saks and Neiman carried this brand. I used to love stopping by here on my way home after work. But after my most recent experience in the Home section, I am no longer a fan. I came into the store looking for a nice, modern wine decanter and couldn't seem to find anything in the wine section of the Home area. A sales associate came up and asked if I needed anything and I asked him if they had any wine decanters. He seemed confused and then recommended that I go to somewhere like Wal-Green's to find a decanter. At first I thought nothing of it, and just assumed he was clueless... but the more I think about it, I wonder if he just assumed I should be shopping at Wal-green's? Either way, a terrible experience. The men's shoe area is pretty dirty and they don't have common projects or GGDB. I don't know maybe Bloomingdale's is just in a different taste cluster. Being a New Yorker in so many ways, the Holy Trinity of shopping destinations starting with "B" has always been: Bergdorf, Bendel and Barney's. But I found myself here, post-facial, yesterday with the Cadet in tow and a hankerin' for some "Skinny Jeans". Which is quite an ambitious proposition, since I weighed 96 pounds before I got knocked up... and 220 the week before I birthed the micro-Cadet (8.8 lbs; back labor; no drugs). The main fashion conflict with me and even the idea of "Skinny Jeans" is that while I weight in at 101 pounds right now (Thanks Festivus Stress Diet!) my skeletal structure has not changed. Meaning: I got me some [relatively] wide childbearing hips from cradling all that preggo weight. I did seriously consider begging a plastic surgeon to give me a Pelvis Reduction. The surgical principle is basically the same as orthognathic [oral] surgery (to correct severe over and/or under bites). The bone is transected with an S-shaped approach, and then advanced or reduced to correct the malocclusion, then screwed back together with titanium hardware. I'm not neurotic, but as a general rule, will never be photographed without the Red Carpet 3/4 turn. Okay, I am a tad neurotic. Plus, I'll be 35 next month... and is it too... "Stacy's Mom" (Fountains of Wayne) for a gal my age to be investing in "Skinny Jeans"? The Festivus Stress diet caused me to loose some much needed curvature in the booty region, and my existing jeans were *literally* hanging off my hips; I could pants myself. Gaunt is not a hot look. So... Skinny Jeans to the rescue? Until I can fill my regular jeans out? I felt nervous and awkward... like I was doing something inappropriate, like a non-celebrity asking, "So - who do I gotta talk to around here to adopt me one of those babies from Malawi?" Wil Lawas on the 3rd Floor is a DENIM DEITY. He is hip, fab, and I will trust him to dress me ANYTIME. He understood my plight, and set me up with a selection of J Brands. We started at size 26 but I ended up in a 25 and didn't feel like I was dressing out of my age or body type range at all. I also happily picked up a pair of Hudson jeans, which have the Union Jack detailing on them, so this appealed to my raging Crumpet Fever. Trust Wil Lawas to take care of all you - he totally gets the Kim D. Seal of Approval, which as y'all know, don't get handed out frivolously. I love the new look, which I'm still trying to figure out, but I'm prancing around to the classic SNL "Jewess Jeans" commercial by the late, great Gilda Radner. read more

Compared to other Bloomingdale's this one is easy to nagivate around. I liked how things are organized within the same areas; young or stylish or upscale or designer-labels, you name it. You can make a bee-line to wherever or whatever looking for. Their walkways are straight and not obstructed with kiosks. Things are at eye-level and not blocked by pseudo-walls. When can afford it, this is my go-to store. When splurging for gifts, any Bloomie's has been a good choice. Even if thinking you cannot afford it (charge it, it's the American way, yo, lol), you will discover some finds (clearance rack, holla!) that costs as much as the thriftier stores. This is a fine department store that bridges the gap between mid-range and higher end luxury standalone stores. Everything in one place is great for this time-conscious yelper. read more

There are mini-stores from Burberry, Jimmy Choo, and the like, and a wall of female sunglasses (from all the brands that matter!) that practically glows. The women's jeans department is cute and made me smile, as did the children's department. Mark my words, if there was a little Nish Jr. around, he and I would be decked out in matching Marc Jacobs sweatsuits from here. In terms of men's clothing, I used to consider Saks an essential stop. Bloomie's, however, seems ready to blow them away. I used to think San Francisco didn't need another department store, but I was wrong. read more

I set my alarm extra early this morning, anticipating the 9am opening of preview day at Bloomies. When I arrived at 9:00, there was already a line of people wrapped around the building. I almost turned back, but then I ran into Nish and Jessica near the front of the line (thanks again, guys!!). We herded into the store and received our complimentary $25 gift cards. Like giddy children in a FAO Schwartz, we looked around bright eyed going OOOH & AHHHH at everything. We took a tour of each floor, each with specialty designer boutiques, while carrying our uber cool graphic Bloomies shopping totes (it's even got a zipper). 1st floor: home accessories (I'm going to register here) & childrens (Polo, Burberry, Juicy, Diesel, Seven, True Religion for moms and their mini me's) 2nd floor: handbags, shoes (Thank you for giving us a Jimmy Choo boutique), accessories (check out the great sunglass wall), cosmetics 3rd floor: designer womens (St. John, Elie Tahari, evening gowns etc) 4th floor: contemporary womens with a huge denim department (Miss Sixty, Theory, Vince, DVF, Marc, etc) 5th floor: mens (Energie, Paul Smith, DSquared, Theory, John Varvatos etc. Sorry guys, only 1 floor dedicated to you, but it's really cool.) Everything was perfectly merchandised, sales associates peppy and attentive, and the layout of each floor was made so shopper friendly. It's so great to see that the US has finally caught up with Asia and Europe and are incorporating the concept of designer boutiques inside a department store. It definitely creates ease of shopping, and you receive the type of customer service you expect in boutiques but not in department stores. It's been several years since the SF Shopping Center expanded w the added luxury of The Westfield, but it still feels like the luxury upgrade that it is. And, Bloomys, of course, is the crown jewel. Laid back. High end, but laid back. What's not to love? The Tom Ford counter in particular is a pleasure; they've happily spent much time walking me through many scents & lipstick shades. Usually at such times I have a bestie w me, but when I don't, it makes no difference here. Right at home. They do fantastic events. I just happened to stumble upon a private makeup event one day, & it was majorly impressive. Tented, champagne glasses full & laid out...it could have been a wedding reception for chrisakes. The Links of London section is also noteworthy. So many beautiful baubles, so little time. The only negative is the sometimes wait there is for assistance. Oh how I love thee! When I start making that scrilla full time, it's just you & me. When I was in middle school & high school I loved going to the Bloomingdale's in Palo Alto & thought it was the best department store ever. This Bloomie's makes the Palo Alto location look like a shunned stepsister. It's five levels of designer goodness..my shopping playground! I've been here several times for the past couple years, and I never really get acknowledged..this is one of my pet peeves, maybe also because I used to work at Nordstrom where you're supposed to greet a customer within 30 seconds of them walking into your department. One shopping trip though, one girl was super sweet & took the last pink Primp thermal off the mannequin for me (her suggestion). And on my last trip in the little LV boutique part of the handbag section, the saleswoman was nice by greeting my bf and I in the first minute of looking around, but seemed like she got confused when I said "Speedy 25." The selection definitely beats Nordstrom any day, which can make up sometimes for the staff they may be around somewhere or non-acknowledging. My darling Bloomie's, I can't wait to see you soon. Where I like to go to stock up on perfume (Bright Crystal). The staff are usually pretty helpful and I love that their Bright Crystal perfume -usually comes with an adorable miniature size, as well as some lotion and bath gel. I'm a big one for getting the most value for my buck. I also appreciate that they house great lines such as Benefit (the Benefit girls truly rock). I don't think I've ever really purchased anything else here besides perfume and makeup - since I do find most of their other merchandise to be very pricey and high end. But good customer service goes a long way and for the most part - Bloomingdales staff are what's up. Trust. read more

It is shameful for a large department store to not carry women's plus size clothing in this day and age. Not only do they not have a dedicated plus size/ women's department, but when pressed for details about whether or not there were actually plus sized garments in the store, several salespeople admitted that they weren't aware of any. I also frequently experience a lack of expertise or service in this store. On multiple visits, I've found myself unable to locate someone to assist me in the fine china and designer housewares departments. One time, there WAS a gentleman working there at the register, but when I asked for assistance, he dismissively mumbled, "One minute," and then kept me waiting while he continued to read some paperwork in front of him. After waiting over 10 minutes, I finally just left. I guess he wasn't working on commission? But my Number One Pet Peeve with this store? How they handle WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBILITY: They turn off the elevators about 10-15 minutes prior to closing, without any warning via intercom or posted notices to customers with disabilities who cannot use stairs or escalators. This means that if you aren't on the lower level and able to exit into the food court of the mall, you are out of luck, because they shut the other front gates, and there is no WHEELCHAIR exit to the street without using the elevators. So then you have to hunt for a security officer to assist you, and they may or may not have the keys to help you, know how to reboot the elevators, or decide they have the time to open the gate to let you out into the mall. Even if they DO assist you, this means you'll be stuck waiting for their help for another 15-30 minutes after closing, which is beyond insulting to customers who already deal with the many other frustrations of using a wheelchair or other mobility-assistance device. This is an unnecessary inconvenience. If you are an able-bodied woman sized 0-12 who doesn't care about customer service, you may not find your trip to this store objectionable. read more
