I always like going downstairs and shopping for Nespresso machines, or at least looking at them enough to get offered a free Nespresso! Seriously, when you're shopping and you're not sure what you want there's nothing like a classic department store. It's a very nice place to buy gifts. Occasionally I'd go there for fashionable clothes and, if there was a big enough sale, even linens and towels. So sad they're closing their doors on April 13th! read more

It is sad to see SF Bloomingdale's departure. Like loosing a pillar. Everything must go as high as 80% off. I see quite a lot of handcrafted rugs left, some were as pricey as a car $10K now deep discounted and more affordable. Beddings and pillow cases are going. Cosmetics (Mac, Estee L, Lancome, Sisley) are 20% off on top of 70% off. Fine chinas sets (for bridal registry- made in Germany). Gowns (blue mostly). Men performance trousers (Ralph Lauren). This review is specifically for Juling Wang, business manager at the Maison Francis Kurkdijan. Yesterday, my wife and I must've spent an hour and half with her. She educated us and kept us entertained with the products. She is humble and very knowledgeable. We cannot say enough about her work ethic and professionalism. I wish this review can somehow reach to her. We bought the Baccarat Candle ($110) and a La Perla perfume ($108). We will be back for more fragrances again. Juling takes her time and doesn't rush the process. We haven't gotten this type of sale in a long time; my wife and I were so captivated by Juling's past experiences with perfume/cologne and the industry. Please look for ANA A. @ Clarins and she will give you such insightful tips and recommendations for your skin to flourish with the products that best suits YOU! She gave me a consultation as I went inside the store without any knowledge of what to purchase... My skin was suffering. We both went around the department store and Ana recommended me several products that weren't just from CLARINS. I wanted something light, good for sensitive skin.. etc. I went home with such an amazing sunscreen (Clarins) and the Santal Treatment Oil (Clarins as well), and a HANDFUL of samples of the Clarins Double Serum & Dr. BARBARA STURM - the Face Cream (Rich) -- all thanks to Ana. Everything is meant to be lightweight, simple, and nutrient-filled to soothe & protect my sensitive skin that would flare up from other products that were doing me no favors. Her expertise is incredible, and she has SO much knowledge to SHARE with you... Even if you are not shopping for any CLARINS, do yourself a FAVOR and look for Ana and ask for her help and advice. The BEST customer service! I've been a shopper here for years and one thing I love is how the staff make it an experience each time. The sales people are not pushy, they help you find the best item/few for you and the registry services are the best I've experienced. From the various brands available to their own branded items, things are always readily available and surprisingly competitively priced. I don't feel like I'm being over charged just because of the store name. When I got engaged registering with Bloomingdale's was a no brainer. I received wonderful, thoughtful and personal care by Ms. Gregory, throughout the process. Especially post event. Ensuring I was able to complete my registry and make any exchanges needed. This has to be one of the biggest and nicest Bloomingdale's we have ever shopped at. Also the biggest selection of their own brand Aqua, it's one of my personal favorite brands! Hubby actually came in the previous day to pick up our online orders. They prepared the same day pickup fast enough. Hubby got a spring down jacket at Moncler store inside the Bloomingdale's. The experience was flawless. I found a pair of Burberry sneakers and an Aqua blazer. Sales people were very friendly and helpful. Bloomingdales charged me over $126 total over the list price (at Matouk, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, etc) of Matouk towels and told me I had $124 in savings. When I called for a price check, they kept me on the phone for over an hour. Then they required that I come into the store in person because the credit card I bought them with had expired. This is so unethical and I only even noticed because one of the bath mats was damaged and I was checking how much it was to decide if it was worth trying to exchange it. They also took over a week to ship these to me after I bought them in the store, which I also find bizarre. read more

Bloomie is closing! Not surprised. Yes locaton is like a ghost town and bigger problem is always merchandising. Since Federated stores merged with Macys, took on Macys name and the purchased May Co., everything has been going down hill. Macy's becomes Kohl's 2.0 and Bloomingdale's becomes the new Macys. In the last 40 years, Bloomingdale's just keep lowering the bar. You will never find highest brands any longer. You will need to go to Neiman Marcus to find true couture. The sad thing is Bloomingdale's used to be great. I am not saying because from a customer point of view, but from my background in both wholesale and retail. All the sassy buyers I used to work with are long gone. The trend in retail is buyers are getting younger and younger and less and less experienced. Well, the reason is volume is shrinking and if u r a great buyer, u r recruited to Target, Walmart and Amazon because responsibility requires experience. This goes true w Nordstroms which used to promoted sales people to the buying office, Yikes. These buyers are so young and so clueless. Bloomingdale's at Westfield probably had 12 people in it today-- 8 of them were passing through to the Westfield mall. I had long been one of the last Mohegan's to shop at the store. I had purchased To Boots shoes there(as well as many other shoes), and they'd sent me home with an 11 and a size 9. It took me a bit too figure this out-- as even after wearing them uncomfortably, I put them on my shelf. Maybe I need to break them in. I was thinking about getting a new oair, so I looked in the bottom for the size and saw one was a size 9. I took them back once I realized. I endured 30 minutes of several Bloomingdale's employees trying various ways of getting out from under their mistake "Oh, you don't have a receipt" "no, but I have the credit card". "You wore them outside" "it didn't occur to me you would send me home with two different sized". "You should have tried them out in the store" "I did,". In the end they wouldn't even give me a partial credit. Well now I'm an online shopper-- I bought the latest Too Boots direct. Great move Bloomingdale's. You lost the margin on my newest pairs of shoes and lost a customer for life. No more dodging fentanyl dealers on my way into the store (see pictures below taken on my way in). Ordered a watch 3+ months ago. Was supposed to be picked up "next week". My contact person failed to answer my calls or texts. They are not answering my emails, customer support doesn't follow up. I'm down $1500 and no one bothers to help me find my watch OR can issue a refund. Bloomingdales is so deep in shit they can't even maintain their customer base. Worst service I've ever had. We spent $1,150 at your store and asked to have our parking validated. However, the customer service representatives, Alexis and Lorna, were rude and unhelpful. With no smile and a dismissive attitude, they told us that parking validation wasn't possible for our $10 parking bill. They said validation is only offered for purchases over $1,500, and they refused to make an exception. We came to this city hoping to support local businesses, passing through areas with homeless encampments, and wanted to keep brick-and-mortar stores alive. Additionally, we had planned to return to purchase an $8,400 bracelet that we had asked to be put on hold. But after this experience, there's no way we'll be buying it here. I'll take my business to another store or shop online, perhaps through Amazon. It's hard to see how businesses like this can survive with such poor customer service and a rude attitude. read more

I shop at Bloomingdale's all over US, it's typically my first destination when I travel domestically and I buy everything there in LA, where I live. Daniel Gutierrez, in the men's department assisted me while I was browsing. Got me in a fitting room and made my time I spent in the store very special. I work in luxury retail in Beverly Hills and have shopped all over the world and this was one of my best shopping experiences. When I shop, I like to do my own thing and peruse at my own speed and the associates at this store were nothing short of a great experience. They all let me shop at my own pace while checking on me and respecting my boundaries. I work at Saks with a very generous employee discount and I still choose to shop here paying full price for the same merchandise because of the elevated shopping experience and the benefits of using my Bloomingdale's credit card. Five stars to the whole men's department and especially Daniel. I look forward to my next visit to this store next time I'm in town. read more

Beautiful department store with many high-end designers labels available. Bloomingdale's in San Francisco downtown is a very beautiful store in the middle of the financial and shopping district. The decorations and layout of the store are nobles. The employees are super nice and helpful. They are very polite and providing excellent customer services. I have no problem with parking. Many parking garages are available in the area with a short walk. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time shopping in the store. read more

Humiliated by "personal stylist" I booked a personal styling appointment to buy a new wardrobe. Was probably going to spend $2-5k on all new clothes to celebrate moving and starting my professional career. I was very up front with all of this to show I'm not going to be wasting anyone's time. I did the online questions and the "stylist" clearly did not look at anything because she pulled me matronly clothing. I'm in my early 30s and an attorney, lounge pants aren't going to cut it and I was pretty clear I was looking at a professional wardrobe. I'm also not 65. Stylist then gets frustrated because I'm a size 16-18. Yep, covid was rough on me which is why I wanted some help. She pulls a ton of clothing for me that's not professional, not complimentary to my body shape/colors. Finally in a huff of frustration tells me that's everything in the store that's my size. I left the store crying. Nordstrom's isn't much better, but their people were at least kind to me. read more

I had an appt with Tyler Hutchison at the Westfield Center Charlotte Tilbury counter for help with learning / using their contouring product. Tyler immediately went to the place where I needed to start and showed a rare combination of childlike passion for his trade, solid active listening, extreme deep product knowledge and experience, confidence, and a genuine desire to apply those skills in the perfect way. He exuded that confidence and as much as he rubbed and brushed lotions and makeup into my face; he rubbed and brushed that confidence onto me! It was such an uplifting experience working with him as a relatively new transitioning person presenting female that I felt like Tyler would be equally at home selling or teaching makeup or staffing a gender affirmation clinic. For me, these kinds of affirming experiences at this stage of my life are so so valuable and meaningful to me as I explore navigating human interactions anew with an aim of acceptance from those important to me for who I am. I had a couple recent encounters with makeup salespeople that left me unhappy. Salespeople made me feel as though I had to already know what I wanted before I got there; and who, when they learned I wasn't sure and that I needed help, left me there with open hands unable to sell me things because the help I seemed to need didn't seem to fit with the job they punched the clock to do. They wanted to just offer opinions about products and throw out jargon because possibly that is all they believed they were being paid to do. They considered that the totality of their job. Imagine the frustration of walking into a store with money and wanting to buy the things I needed, seeing those things all around, and having no one able and willing to walk through with any detail how those things fit in with the larger picture of what I wanted to accomplish from being there, to create a look. Finally, I set an appt with Tyler. He was prompt, respectful, courteous, humorous, helpful beyond measure; appeared to thrive in helping me create the best expression of myself that I can take home and recreate for myself every day from now on. Tyler was there to do his job; but more than that, he was there to help. In just an hour or two he made a big difference for me at a very important pivotal moment in my life. I came home in the late afternoon after showing my face around town, and my partner was there who is not even close to adjusted to my presentation. He had not been able to look at me yet! I booked an appointment with a stylist at 5am on a Sunday and heard back from the amazing Christy right away. I couldn't believe it! She texted me a few questions like height, size, budget, and which brands I normally shop. Literally hours later when the store opened she had several beautiful items waiting for me to try on. She was a life-saver as I walked in with two kids in tow we were in and out in 45 minutes and within budget. Not only that but I loved the clothes she styled me in. She is a professional and extremely good at her job taking into account my body type and never pushing for a higher budget. What do you get for a wedding on the east coast? Bloomingdale's has you covered, locations in New York and New Jersey in case the couple wants to return the item. No gift receipt required, they simply affix a bar code on the bottom making it easy for the newly weds. They even gift wrapped and shipped it for us, so we don't have to carry anything on the plane. On the lower level, they have a large crystal selection with Baccarat, Lalique, and Waterford. I looked online, but you really have to see the crystal in person and hold it in your hands to get a feel for what you're getting. When in doubt, ask a specialist. I've mostly done shopping in the athleisure section, and the vibe is super off... no sales associates anywhere in that area, all clustered in the next section over making it difficult to try on clothes in the section I'm shopping in. They also have kind of weird attitudes where multiple people are clearly standing around but refuse to help more than one person at a time in check out. Also, I prefer e-receipts but more than once they've reached over and clicked print-only before I can ask (and for some reason say they can't go back and email - seems unlikely). That being said, the customer service desk/e-pick up area is always fast and efficient. I've never had issues with returns and they're accommodating for refund/credit requests when there have been product issues. read more
