We are staying at the Trump hotel and decided to try this restaurant. It was the day after Thanksgiving and the lobby was decorated beautifully with Christmas decor. Dinner was amazing. We started with the oysters, they were excellent (great flavor). The bread with butter and salt was delicious. My husband and I both had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. We split the Caesar salad and the Red Hen mushrooms which were excellent. The mushrooms were served in an iron skillet. We shared them so the picture shows half of the portion on my plate. We ended our meal by sharing a piece of key lime pie. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Maria and crew did a wonderful job & praises to the chefs. Amazing service from beginning to end, but that's expected at the Trump. Came here to celebrate our president's win and had a great experience. The staff was attentive and nice, offering suggestions and quick with their service. They didn't have the Australian Wagyu skirt steak I wanted so I supplemented with the filet mignon and they brought us courtesy appetizers as an apology. The menu was. Very limited and offered all delicious choices for those who eat anything and everything with absolutely no dietary restrictions or food quarks. They did and will however accommodate you. For example the gluten free pizza wasn't on the menu but it was possible to order for the little one. Thumbs up for that. Ambiance is great. There are televisions all over and you can entertain yourself with whatever they have on. Usually golf or current sports. Guests are always pleasant and the ambiance is always relaxed. You can enjoy your meal in peace. Located on the bottom floor. Restrooms are outside of the restaurant in the hall. You can purchase cigars and the cocktail menu is extensive. Friends and I had a delightful dinner at BLT Prime. To start, the setting is beautiful; whether sitting inside or outside, the golf course views at The Doral are awesome. The service is excellent - our server was attentive, and made several great suggestions, about the food and our wines. Our meals were outstanding. We had two different steaks plus the lamb. Everything was perfectly cooked. The steaks were served on hot metal bowls, keeping them at a good temperature. I cut my filet in half, and the second half held perfectly. Tender and flavorful. The Wagyu steak was outstanding; the extra marbling is noticeable. Our only negative on the food is the portion size of the side dishes; other than the onion ring stack, the portions are quite small. That's unfortunate, as they were all tasty. Not surprisingly, the wine list is broad and deep. Although the menu prices are quite high, the wine prices were within the realm of "high, but not outrageous." Overall, we had a delightful dinner and will return. read more

I came here with my friend for my introductory Miami Spice experience. It is in the lobby of the hotel, but has its own well appointed space with bar, inside, and outside verandah seating. The verandah overlooks the well-appointed golf course and on a gorgeous day like the day we came, it seemed criminal to not sit outside in a half-crescent booth with an unobstructed view. However, after sitting outside for about 30mins we instantly regretted our decision as the heat was almost overwhelming and the ceiling fans they had seemed to be merely for decoration. We asked for the Spice menu when we were sat and perused the main menu for apps & drinks as well. I was not at all impressed w/their wine offerings as they were not only grossly overpriced for the wines offered, but the selection was lacking as well. This really surprised me as they seemed to have a very impressive open-view wine cellar when we walked in. I ordered a $13 prosecco to help offset the impending heatstroke. At least they gave a fair/full pour. They brought out these complementary popovers that I think were some kind of sourdough. They were surprisingly delicious and I appreciated that they came with real butter and the sea salt was a nice touch as well. We ordered the bacon and the tuna tartare outside of the Miami Spice menu and both were delicious! The tuna tartare especially as it was served chilled and with just enough flavor. Their spice menu started us off w/a "Lobster Bisque Cappuccino", which would have been deliciously eccentric on any other day than one that was teetering on 100 degrees w/humidity. I could not finish most of mine as I wanted nothing to do with a hot beverage at that point. I think this offering would have been better served on their dinner menu or maybe later in September. A nice light salad or some other light and cool dish would be better matched w/the seasonal temp of a lunch menu in Doral, FL. I defnitely should have gone w/the heirloom tomato carpaccio! My friend ordered the short rib grilled cheese and I ordered the chicken and waffle. The short rib left a lot to be desired, though the truffled fries that came with it were tasty. The chicken waffles were pretty tasty and served with chicken ice cream, which for the first few seconds until it melted was delightful. We each had one of the two desserts offered and the chocolate pot de creme was excellent and the tres leches cake with fresh fruit was a nice finish. The waitstaff was actually pretty decent and attentive, so no complaints on the service. Now on to why the two-stars. My friend and I were grossly overcharged here. We were charged for the dinner Miami Spice menu and did not catch the error until it clicked with us that we should have paid $23/pp for a Miami Spice lunch. Seriously, this bill was what a very nice dinner would cost with full courses and wine! Needless to say, we sorted it out and apologies were made (how we were charged for the dinner price at lunch is still a mystery to me, though maybe I shouldn't be that surprised considering the location?) with assurances that the charges originally made to our credit cards would be corrected. They stated that the charges that were originally made would just not be closed out and that the new charges would be the ones processed through. That was over a week ago. I finally had to call my CC company to dispute the charge as the corrected one never posted 5 days later and lo and behold all of a sudden the corrected amt (which was still a bit too pricey for what we had) posted to my card the next day. That kinda stuff (overcharging and then still not fixing when you say you will) always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I will never come back here despite (other than making the mistake of sitting on the verandah) what was an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. read more

Undercooked bacon, food poisoning and inconsistencies with management all led to me writing this review which should really be NO stars, but Yelp won't allow anything below one. On a stay at Trump Doral to celebrate birthdays and Father's Day, I decided to make a reservation for my family of 4 given the great reviews found her for BLT Prime. We ordered the bacon to start and immediately questioned whether it was cooked correctly, but after being reassured more than once we decided we should trust the experts who serve it daily. BAD IDEA My husband and I became violently ill with food poisoning to the point that we had to file a report with security the following morning. After being told by the director of food and beverage and two managers on duty that the restaurant directly would be reaching out to me to rectify the situation promptly on Tuesday, I waited until Thursday before reaching out having heard absolutely nothing. The manager finally called me after I texted the guest line to follow up to offer me 20% off our $350 bill for the "inconvenience". He told me the secret service investigated the food poisoning and we were the only ones to report being sick from the hundreds of bacon appetizers sold that evening. Really? The secret service called every single patron who purchased the item to check their symptoms? Okay, Sergio. Currently I am waiting to hear back from the director of food and beverage because not only is being lied to adding insult to injury, but this is entirely unacceptable at an establishment that prides themselves on quality and fine dining. Do yourself a huge favor- go literally anywhere else. The headache (and stomach ache) is not at all worth it. read more

We are fans of great steaks, and since we had a beautiful Florida 80F free evening we decided to try BLT at the Trump National in Doral. We used to be members of the club before Trump bought it (it was called the Doral Golf Resort) and enjoyed frequently (restaurants, tennis, shows, swimming pools, bars, etc.), it was a chance to see the "upgraded" version. It definitively looks very luxurious, everything upscale. But let's move on to BLT.... We got seated immediately by a hostess that was stern and did not smile, not even a welcome greeting... I just can't figure out service staff that do not make you feel welcome and a valuable guest/customer. Unfortunately this is the experience we get at most upscale restaurants (they should learn from Chick-fil-A!). Our waitress was also "cold", did not ask us if it was our first time at BLT, quickly mentioned the "special", left (i.e. disappeared), than came back to get the drinks order (after a fairly long time). Then a long wait again... no sign of the waitress, another waiter shows up with the bread (Popovers, Delicious!), we asked him about our drinks, he left to find out and we got hem 1 minute after our complaint. But plates were missing, had to request them... wow... We started with the Burrata Salad, it was fresh and tasty (and those Popovers, excellent!) We ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steaks (with Chimichury sauce), the Filet Mignon (12 oz, with 3 mustard sauces), Onion rings and the Potatoes Au Gratin. All meats were excellent, the potatoes were very good but the portion is very small, just enough for one person (in contrast at Fleming's the Potatoes au Gratin side order is enough for 3 people). Onion rings were perfect. We finished with the Chocolate Tart desert, which was unique and intense. So why not 5 stars? The main culprit is service, if you spend $100 per person to eat steak the service must be top notch (examples: Fleming's, Capital Grille). Maybe because BLT got a captive audience (hotel guests) they don't feel compelled to excel, since most tourists probably will never return anyway, they just do the basics, like at Longhorn. Another opportunity to stand out with the dishes are the way they are served: all meats came in skillets that were "warm", not sizzling. If you go through the trouble of using skillets than make them piping hot and bring the meats sizzling to the table... this is a great censorial experience (like the 500F plates at Ruth&Chris, and fajitas at Chili's), add in the aromas and crackling sounds, and presto! #MiamiSpice2016 After loving D.C.'s BLT years ago, I returned determined to try their Miami outpost (read: must have the popovers again), but never got around to it...until now. As expected, there's grandeur everywhere you look at this location. Upscale stones and gilded everything surround you at every turn. I don't remember what it looked like before the renovation, so I can't compare. Perhaps some of it was already in place before? Even the napkins and toilet paper in the bathrooms had the Trump insignia one way or another. My party and I were happily greeted by the hostess and shown to our table right away. Several waiters and (what appeared to be) managers/floor captains hovered over our table helping us settle in. Menus, water, and bread came all at once. Throughout the night, I did notice some of the "men in suits" lingering near our table. Odd. I had to request the Miami Spice menu and was given only one. Um, party of 4? Four menus please. Other than that glitch, service was good the rest of the night; not overly personable, but instead more on the proper side. WHAT I TRIED: Toast and pate Gruyere Popovers Rock Shrimp Risotto Short Rib Steamed Buns 1855 Grand Island Angus Flat Iron Pan Seared Grouper Shrimp Alfredo Bison Short Ribs Potato Croquettes Sticky Toffee Pudding Peanut Butter & Jelly Truffles HIT: How can I choose a favorite when a dinner starts with the very addicting gruyere popovers and ends with a PB&J dessert? OK, here's the truth; please know that I will always be biased when there's peanut butter or guava anything on a menu. That's my disclosure and I'm sticking to it. With that said, of course I have to go with the PB&J truffles. When I saw the plate, I wondered just how much peanut butter the truffles would have; they looked rather chocolate heavy. One bite in, I knew. SO. MUCH. PEANUT BUTTER. Rich and sweetened with strawberry and Concord grape jelly, there was no other way to end the night than with these babies. MISS: Not enough truffles? I kid. Nothing to say in this category. I liked it all. The last of the BLT restaurants remaining in South Florida, this location is a bit of an unsung hero. Hidden away inside the Trump National Doral, I think it's worth the drive. Some of the entrees on the Miami Spice menu weren't as imaginative or refined as I would have liked (Shrimp Alfredo & Pan Seared Grouper), but they were still flavorful and executed right. All of the meats were nicely cooked and full of flavor. The Sticky Toffee was also very good; I would not hesitate to order it again. The curt hostess refused to seat either couple at the front of the house with the windows so we could see the golf course. Instead we were seated in the back at a little table for two. Incredibly expensive. Upon arrival we were directed to self park by the valet. Note, parking is in the back ($14) and a long walk back to the main building with no signage to the restaurant. We were almost run down by a staff member driving a golf cart. This is based off of three visits to BLT Prime. First and foremost, the service here is (often) outstandingly professional - like what my late father used to describe "back in his day". You don't come across that often in Miami, and much less at some of the better known steakhouse (chains) we have here, but this review is not about them. This latest visit was on Father's Day and we were looked after by Ana, who is excellent and juggles all the nuisances of service in the most amicable way. She came across as authentic and attentive in just the right ratio. We always felt taken care of and never "pushed" into anything. Onto the food, when you dine at BLT Prime, you are first greeted with their famous Gruyere Popovers. These are phenomenal and even a bit exciting, since they're atypical. The crust is crunchy and salty and the inside is a heavenly airy fluff of tenderness and warmth. This is a far cry from the yeast blobs and sorry things that Morton's or Ruth Chris serve. A complimentary chicken pate is included, but I am not a great appreciator of it (or of liver in general). My grandfather had ordered a Filet Mignon which came overcooked like a shoe - he said it was fine, but Ana insisted that they take it back. They had to butterfly the steak so that he could enjoy his meal in a reasonable amount of time along with the rest of us, but it came back far superior and he said it was the best steak he's ever had - I actually don't think that had anything to do with the fact he's been off of meat for a year due to medical reasons. Anyway, I wouldn't expect anything less than top service and insistence on quality from such an establishment. Been combing my way through some of the appetizers and salads, here are my thoughts: the Burrata is phenomenal, and is one of the better "salads". The Beet and Cesar salad are both good, but not as decadent. The Ahi Tuna is also enjoyable, although I personally prefer more fat to compliment the tuna, so it was not my favorite. The real show stopper is their new Grilled Bacon appetizer, which comes on a miniature clothing hanger set up and is down right theatrical. Every other table had to have it when they saw ours. So yeah, order it, it's tasty AND fun. I shared the Porterhouse steak and had ordered medium rare. To be honest, it was not the most evenly cooked steak. Some parts were down right charred and crispy, others were raw, and some parts were actually medium rare. It comes topped with herb-butter and a head of roasted garlic on the side. Overall, it was still pretty good, I could have complained, but I was honestly not that demanding at that point. It was still a fine steak. My previous visit, I had had the Branzino, and it came out quite perfectly. For the accompaniments, they are on the small side (portion wise), not exactly "family style". I've tried both mushroom sides and think the Hen of the Woods mushrooms are more interesting and delicious than the stuffed caps. The creamed spinach is nothing short of wonderful and the grilled asparagus is monumental and impressive. BLT Prime also gives you a complimentary dessert, which is a small brownie (?), I think most people will like it. For me, it's a bit sweet. The Key Lime Pie, however, was remarkably good. Our family (in part) is from Key West, and it got the stamp approval. The pie was just tarte enough, the crust in perfect proportion, and the meringue artfully executed. They should keep it on their permanent menu - especially since this is South Florida. We tried some other deserts, but I have to say that the Key Lime Pie was the most notable by far. Alas, the conclusion is that this is a great place for fine dining and you can keep your expectations high - they will ensure you will have a delightful experience, whether the party is big or small. read more

I was surprised to find it rather empty on a Saturday evening. Food: Popover house bread is unique and fun to eat. It comes with the recipe! I was very disappointed with the raw tuna appetizer, which was not fresh as it smelled fishy, and horribly combined with a bland tortilla. It was so bad I only had one bite and left the dish. I couldn't believe it, and I made sure to let the server know. He did not offer any accommodations to make up for it with another dish, but he did ask me if I wanted to call the manager, but I declined. For my entree I tried the ribeye and it was amazing! Perfectly tender and flavorful. The mac and cheese that accompanied it was ok, they can make that better. Service: It was average. I think it could be a lot better. I love BLT Prime. I eat at the Trump International Old Post Office location every time I'm in DC. I had not thought to Yelp them until today because of my exceptional experience at this Doral experience. Mauro the manager hangs right in front meeting everyone and personally making sure everyone is having a good time. So as game time arrived and I asked him to change the one TV from NFL coverage to the playoff baseball game featuring the heroic efforts of Tampa Bay (not even my team) against the World Series favorite Astros. Mauro took care of me immediately. My friend and I enjoyed the Popovers, which are the most amazing play on bread that I have found. I have never had a steak that was not exceptional. I had the hanger steak for the first time and it was really good. The creamed spinach is always amazing. Later in the evening someone switched the TV to NFL, Thursday night football. What even is that? You have Sunday and Monday night, now someone wants to watch an early season game between two teams, neither of which is from Florida! Please. So I looked for Mauro. How, in a Trump property, can you pick a game from athletes who disrespect the flag and disrespect our President over a playoff baseball game? He took the amazing step of switching the only TV in the bar back to baseball. I noticed a woman in a football t-shirt from one of the teams and how she huffed out of the place obviously irritated. She must be the one who smeared BLT. Smearing dedicated, professional restaurant staff to express your frustration over a TV battle is a shocking way to express one's displeasure. read more

I have been here multiple times, but never had it been bad. I will say the staff is amazing! We were 3 adults and 2 children. Now as for the meal itself, it was horrible, it was super bland and all the steaks were overcooked. It's really bad when you buy a $55.00 Filet Mignon and a $115.00 Poter house Steak and the chef overcooks it and sends it to your table like a crappy cheap steak house. We asked for med rare and everything was well done. This also explains why all the sides and my children's food were hard as a rock and freezing, clearly spent extra time cooking those steaks. Also, the half chicken was so over cooked it was like eating a crouton. To top it off, all of the side dishes were very bland. I would never recommend this place to any one and difenitely would not come back. You could have a better meal at Flannigans and save a lot of money, about $400 worth give or take. read more

Ok management, you have to praise Vladimir and Adner! These two guys are of the best I've seen in Miami! Great service, care and looking at detail.... as always, when I come to a steak house, 50% is the waiter and 50% is the chef.... if the waiter does not know to tell the chef, the chef cannot do what we want!! So they took good note of what we ordered and magic... the chef delivered... so both did a great job!!! Congrats!!! Management... after my first review several years ago when I alerted that something was wrong, good actions were taken... so high 5 for you too!! All the meat we ordered today was very good... the hanger, VERY good... even though the cheapest, very good... we had the new york, very good as well, the filet mignon... also very good... the skirt well prepared but beware it comes with chimichurri.... my daughters branzino also very good.... i had my signature cowboy bone in ribeye... rare Pittsburgh style... very well made!!! As sides, all were good but the hen of the woods mushrooms were top notch!! Crisp, a touch of citrus, and al dente... delicious!!! For desert we had the crepe which was ok... the cofee ice cream was VERY good.... thought i was eating a subtle espresso.... brought my bottle and good surprise, they have Riedell Cab glasses... again, service very good, the place is impeccable and a nice atmosphere... not the cheapest, but worth every cent!!
