Do they now allow take out orders? I used to come here to get take out of their split pea soup but then a while back, I was told it is their policy to NOT do takeout - BTW it was a weekday.

First time experience here after hearing great reviews about the food here! The food and wait service did not disappoint. I chose this place to reconnect with a friend I havn't seen in a few years and thought this be a nice brunch in to meet up with her. I had the French Pressed coffee which was potent and aromatically enjoyable. My dish was the Brunch Carbonara suggested by the kind and attentive waiter. Absolutely delicious! The two poached eggs were the crowing jewel of the dish. As you sliced into one the yolk just dripped down over the melted cheese and crispy bacon coating the whole rice dish with golden goodness! Highly recommend this one! My friend had the Crispy French Toast and it was also beautifully plated with the perfect crunch while not being too heavy since it comes with fresh diced strawberries and blueberries and a milky vanilla sauce instead of heavy syrup! It's the infamous Ventura Blvd so whenever I venture out to it, I park on the calm side streets with no problem. Unfortunately I must ding this place one star for a little bit of rudeness from hostess staff. I arrived 15 minutes early to place my name down since they do not accept reservations. The one taking down the names was fine but this is about the girl who was doing the seating. They said it would be about a 30 minute wait while I was waiting for my friend to arrive. They asked where my other guest was and I said she's walking from around the corner to meet me right now. The seating hostess told me she does not sit "incomplete" parties ( which I never heard of a restaurant doing; there was only one other in my party) with a straight almost non-emotive face. She turned around and walked back in the cafe as my friend arrived so we went in to claim our called table. The hostess told us to wait on the side while she sat two later 3 person parties. I politely asked if we could be sat next since I came early to put my name down on the list, and she told she will seat other guests who came after me first who had more than two people. Note: most of the tables there seat about 3-4 people even though parties of two and three were dining at them. The whole time I communicated with her she did not crack one smile. I observed her interacting the same way to everyone else. The hostess is the face of the cafe that shows how inviting and welcoming a place's first impression will be. However, the one that was doing the seating came off as the complete opposite with a not so cheery attitude. No matter how busy or chaotic a place is, having the right attitude towards guests is very important. I don't mind waiting a few minutes for good food and service, but it would go a long way to use right tone when communicating and welcoming guests. After waiting an additional 15 minutes we were finally seated and proceeded to have a great brunch! read more

12/10 Experience at Blu Jam Café - Sherman Oaks We've now been to Blu Jam Café on Ventura Boulevard twice, and both experiences have been amazing. A huge part of that is the manager, Wilson, who took care of us last week during our first-ever visit and again this week. His customer service and attentiveness are genuinely 12 out of 10. Wilson is incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and welcoming. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, and even made our dog feel like a guest--bringing her water and a pup cup without us having to ask. Those little touches really stand out and are a big reason we came back for a second visit so quickly. And the food absolutely lives up to the service! On our first visit, we had the Benedict, which was delicious, and the Burgundy Omelette, which was extremely tasty. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes were great. For our second visit--the food pictured--we tried the Shakshuka and the Tuscany omelette/scramble, and both were unbelievably good. The combination of flavors was fantastic, especially paired with Blu Jam's iconic potatoes. Great portions, amazing flavor, fresh ingredients, and everything cooked exactly how it should be. No complaints for the chef--only full and happy bellies! Between the food, generous portions, and especially Wilson's outstanding hospitality, Blu Jam Sherman Oaks has quickly become a place we'll happily keep coming back to. Highly recommend! read more

In the past, I have visited their other location on Melrose Ave and I was pleasantly pleased. I was praying for a repeat performance, however each location tends to have their own identity. Well, I will say Blu Jam in Sherman Oaks is certainly good, however they're not up to the caliber of their Melrose Ave location, nevertheless it was pretty good. The line was long of course, but the helpful hostess had us in our seat within 15 minutes (5 minutes earlier than what she told us). I know their crunchy french toast and benedicts are the favorite dishes here, but I'd like to tell you about their muscle beach breakfast dish. It is 6 egg whites scrambled with fresh thyme, ground turkey, onions, spinach and chopped tomatoes, served with a cup of low fat cottage cheese and toast. It was excellent! What I like about Blu Jam is their vegan and gluten-free choices. Their menu is laid out nicely and it delineates what dishes are vegan to gluten-free, etc. Their menu also tells you the calorie count for each dish, whether breakfast or lunch. I didn't see anyone with their calculators out, but they were definitely adding and subtracting numbers in their heads. The service was pretty good too and this location wasn't as cramped as Melrose Ave, which I liked. They offer valet and there's also parking on Ventura Blvd. Please do not forget their delicious desserts too. My only complaint was the weak coffee. I'll be back though! read more

Blu Jam Cafe is a great place to hang out with friends and eat some great food. I reccommend sitting out on the patio because the decor is so cute and you think you are in a little garden instead of in the middle of Sherman Oaks. The service is great, and Marty (who was our server the last time we went) was very friendly and will answer any question that you have! The food is amazing, and Chef Kamil does classic breakfast dishes with some Southern California infusion. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because they took my favorite thing, the Chicken Schnitzel, off the menu!! Hopefully this review will bring it back, and we can #savetheSchnitzel Blu Jam Cafe offers a variety of food, from breakfast foods like pancakes and French Toast (get the crunchy French Toast, please.) to lunch foods like soups, salads, chicken dishes, and everything in between. For an entree, I would get the Herb Chicken, because it is served on the same bed of flavorful potatoes that the Schnitzel was served on, and it has a very yummy sun dried tomato sauce! One thing though: It does get really crowded at 10-1:30ish on the weekends, so plan accordingly! Also, they don't serve incomplete parties! I hate having to write this review because my wife & i love Blu Jam we've been going to all the locations over the last 5 years & today was only our second try at this location & we remembered exactly why we don't go to this location. The food was ready fast and it was packed efficiently so that's good but our food was lacking. We both ordered the eggs, Benedict with salmon and I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen, but it's supposed to have hollandaise sauce and there was literally no sauce whatsoever. It was just dry eggs. Secondly, most of the potatoes were raw or it was old burnt pieces you can tell have been in the fryer all morning. And finally, our coffees tasted like it was a overly fake powder full of sugar nothing like a latte at all. The last time we came to this location was probably 3 years ago and we did not have a good experience as far as the food went - ( the employees are all super friendly btw ) so we didn't go back for a while but today we decided to give it a try and we're still 6 hours later so bummed about our food lol. I'm not sure if it's because our order was a to go order and some restaurants don't really prioritize to go orders but regardless not good. read more

We took our friends here who were visiting from out of town and we had an amazing dining experience at this cozy and rustic spot. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The service was top-notch from start to finish, with attentive staff making sure everything was just right. The food? Absolutely delicious! The Crunchy French Toast was everything I hoped for - crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The Avocado Toast was not only beautiful but also packed with flavor, truly satisfying. The Chilaquiles were a standout, especially when paired with poached eggs, which added a rich touch to the dish. One thing I really appreciated was the easy ordering with the QR code at the table, making the process smooth and efficient. The complimentary crepes before our order arrived were a lovely touch, adding a little extra sweetness to the experience. For the kids, they even received complimentary chopped fruits and potatoes when seated, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. We sat in a booth and the table was sticky and the window sill had a thick layer of dust along with someones old straw wrapper that looked like it had been there awhile. Because it was so hot, we all ordered iced tea. At 12p in the afternoon they had run out of iced tea. That is really strange - how does that happen? Where do I start with my review - Growing up in the restaurant business you get good at knowing the dog's from the leaders - I am by far a new Blu Jam Cafe fan! I met the owner today, or shall I say , one of three. These guys are running a tight ship, is this good? You better believe it is! I want to know that my bacon isn't cooked two hours before I ate it and it sat in grease. They have a Health & Fitness menu that Ashley the waitress pointed out, clearly they train the staff that are knowledgeable and provide great service. And I really don't have to go to a fancy hotel or Europe to get that french press coffee..OMG It take s the experience to a different level. In todays day who knows what restaurants are truly doing ''behind the line'' I think Ramsey has taken this to a whole new level of thinking by exposing the dogs, from the leaders! The food came out perfectly, my poached eggs didn't sit in water, the toast was yummy and good quality, sorry to the trainer, I ordered a second piece. Terrible experience! Very disappointing! The front desk staff was extremely rude. We will never come back! My daughter, who is 10years old, was the first in line. However, the front desk ignored her and chose to help someone behind her instead. This felt discriminatory, especially toward children. She is perfectly capable of asking for a table, and we--her parents--were right behind her! When I asked the waiter why we weren't let in, she said it was because my daughter didn't specifically ask for a table. That doesn't make sense! People go to the front desk to request a table. What else would they be asking for? The front desk even told us to "wait here for seats." That clearly implies we were waiting for a table. Even after I followed up directly, and ask the staff, the staff still ignored us to giving service to others who is back of us(white) !! Completely rude and unprofessional behavior.My daughter looked frustrated and hesitant to continue talking to the waiter, who clearly didn't want to talk to her. Terrible service! Run, Don't Walk to this place! Blu Jam Cafe is one my favorite brunch spots and will probably be yours too! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The food is absolutely amazing - I highly recommend the eggs benedict, which is hands down the best I've ever had. (Seriously, I've travelled far and wide and no where comes close) And if you're looking for something sweet, you have to try their crunchy french toast, which is out of this world! The coffee is also fantastic and pairs perfectly with the delicious brunch options. Overall, I highly recommend Blu Jam Cafe as a must-visit brunch spot. Just a couple of tips: 1) Be sure to check in on the Yelp waitlist when you're nearing the restaurant, to get seated faster. 2)Keep in mind that parking can be a hassle. Too many red flags here. Hostess status at a table that has a scannable code on it, apparently you must scan for the menu and must pay online using their Wi-Fi, plus provide a tip for food and service not yet rendered. Oh wow...Blu Jam is awesome! You'll probably spot some celebs here, but come for the food. And come early on the weekends, because the line is out the door early! The ambiance is nothing super special, but the waitstaff is immaculate, friendly, and totally on point. And the food- wow. LA has high standards, obviously, with so much variety. This place stands out! Order the crunchy French toast for sure; the vanilla sauce is awesome, and the dish is everything you want out of Sunday morning brunch. As other reviewers mention, there are many healthy options (try the chicken sausage!) and the ingredients are definitely fresh. There is also a lovely covered patio out back, if you're lucky enough to get a table outside. Another highlight is the freshly squeezed juices. The apple juice is excellent! The original on Melrose is, hands-down, best breakfast in LA, so I couldn't wait to try the new location in Sherman Oaks with my buddy who lives in the neighborhood. The food is just as amazing at the new location! My buddy Mike and I had the Crunchy French Toast, the Morning Hash, and Blueberry Pancakes. All spot-on! The decor is beautiful, too. More modern than the Melrose Hipster vibe, with it's floor-to-ceiling windows and plush booths, the new venue offers a bright, fresh atmosphere that makes it feel more upscale. Little details, however, pay homage to the original spot, with it's brick accent wall and a few amazing and iconic Rock-and-Roll prints by photographer Alec Byrne. The Sherman Oaks installation is a great modern contrast to the original location, and THANK GOODNESS (And Chef Kamil), the food is still as awesome as it ever was!! read more

Just want to say the service here is great. Sometimes it can seem slow but it gets ridiculously busy during brunch hours. I came for my sister's birthday and we didn't mention it was her birthday (partly because we were on a time crunch to get to Disneyland ASAP). When the manager found out, he made a big deal on how birthdays are important and next time she came in she could get a dessert for her birthday. Also, I never understood why people ordered the french toast since french toast is fairly simple to make. I was mistaken. This is the best french toast I have ever had. It is amazing, especially with the granola on top. The sauce is also not overly sweet and the fruit makes you less guilty about dipping it in the sauce! read more

Came here for a power breakfast, left with a full stomach. I thought the staff was great, the setting was nice. I don't live in the valley but this is the kind of place you wouldn't expect to find there. I was here for a couple hours and it was busy throughout so it must be good! I ordered the crispy french toast and it was splendid. No complaints at all. Good portion size fresh fruit vanilla cream. Delicious!! They have healthy, low carb options. Seems like a place with something for everyone. The coffee was good and free refills. I enjoyed my meal for sure. Only thing keeping from 5 star rating is the "value". Woohoo! Blu Jam Cafe is bringing "The Crunchy" to the Valley! As I drove down Ventura Blvd. this morning I saw their sign. Just to make sure it's the same place I went in and ordered a latte to-go (unfortunately I didn't have time to sit down and eat *sad face*). The menu is exactly the same as in their Hollywood location. My favorites include the Crunchy French toast, Eggwich and Chilaquiles. I also enjoy their fresh squeezed juices and yummy lattes. There are few differences between the two locations. This one has plenty of parking, no wait to get seated (yet) and the space is brighter with more outdoor seating. This place is kind of over-hyped. All I ever hear is people raving about the corn flake French toast. I finally stopped in after the 45-minute wait and tried the sucker. It wasn't great! Honestly, I would prefer just regular French toast that was made from quality materials. Unfortunately, the cornflakes tasted stale, the bread was skimpy, and there wasn't enough egg used. I felt like calling the manager over and complaining, but my waiter seemed like she was having a tough day and I didn't want her to get in trouble just because the chef had a weak palate. I love BREAKFAST. Well, I should clarify I love breakfast later in the day, definitely not 6 am. So I found this place by accident just looking for somewhere fun to go in Sherman Oaks. The ambience was cool, lots of energy and people. We sat out front and people watched while chomping down a super yummy breakfast. I went for the mildly healthy Florentine Benedict and the poached eggs were perfect with super fresh spinach, brie, and hollandaise sauce... yum.
