Overall, slow, unimpressive service and it took 15 mins before we could place that appetizer order. Just sat there waiting most of the time. Manager was really nice, but we had the absolute worst service. It was bad. Food was ok. Tasted good and the main dishes were nice and had a nice kick. (Descriptions from menu); For an appetizer we had Black and White Nachos -Shrimp / Lobster / Chipotle Cream / Black Bean Puree / Monterey Jack / Asadero Cheese / Corn Pico / Guacamole ($13.49). We weren't given any plates for the appetizer, so we just ate off the serving tray. We were so hungry at this point. For dinner, my partner had the Adobo Pork Burrito- Braised Pork Shoulder / Cilantro Rice / Habanero Cream / Pork Green Chili / Monterey Jack / Crema / Corn Pico ($15.99). I had the Pork Carnitas- Slow Roasted and Crispy-Fried / Roasted Tomatillo Sauce / Red Onion / Cilantro / Black Beans / Flour Tortillas ($13.99). We had to ask for refills and people were served faster in larger parties that were seated after us. I just don't think anyone really cared. Food was good but this place could honestly use some improvement. It's a pretty restaurant but I was not impressed with the quality and speed of service at all. Unfortunately, this place ended up being completely horrible. I ordered Uber Eats and spent a lot for my mom and I to have a nice dinner. She wasn't feeling too well, so we decided not to dine in. She ordered the steak, which was overcooked (asked for medium). - the meat was absolutely disgusting. The enchilada that came with it was dry and gross. I will say not all the food was bad- my meal was quite tasty and satisfying. However, the most expensive meal was $42 (steak) and so I decided to call the restaurant to have them reimburse us. The girl that answered the phone was so rude and it actually took me by surprise how unkind and rude she was for no reason. Did she make the meal? No. She treated me like I was trash, and it was completely uncalled for and unpleasant. Because of her attitude alone, I'm leaving this review for the lack of customer service for a meal that was semi-expensive and disappointing. I would like to be reimbursed for my steak. After attending a show at the clocktower cabaret, we came here to eat dinner. I made a reservation for 7:15 and we showed up at 7 and were seated right away. It didn't look like we needed the reservation, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Our waitress was nice and attentive. She came around multiple times asking if we needed anything. The food came out quick and the complimentary chips and salsa was great! Everyone except me seemed to really like their entrees. I, on the other hand, didn't really like mine. I got the spicy fettuccine and added chicken, but didn't find it spicy at all. The Japanese chilli spice that they used made it taste weird and off. Also, it would've been nice to have the chicken cut up into strips. When it was time to pay, I did like the option of using a QR code to pay the bill. I got the signature asada based on reviews I saw here and I was not disappointed the steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The enchilada that came with the meal was packed with protein. Loved the corn salsa that was on the side too. My husband got the steak burrito and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. To start we had the cheese dip for free by checking in on Yelp. It was less thick than I anticipated, but full of flavor and chorizo. Would definitely get it again. The loaded chips had cheese, seafood, and corn on top. It came with guacamole in the middle. Let's set the stage for this one: we are starving after our flight and happen to get in at the perfect time to make Blue Agave's happy hour. Thank God we did. We did some damage as you can tell. All of the tacos were street-style tacos and were just great. They were each like $5 a plate so no shit we went ape on them. They were each so different too. The fish ones came with a fruity salsa, the chicken ones had a special guacamole salsa, and the carne asada was marinated to perfection (also, I am a SUCKER for cotija cheese). The margaritas were great. The blue agave marg was their classic marg. It was a pretty big glass honestly. The gin drink was wack but drinkable. We were trying to figure out what to order next and our waitress said she could just make us something and it sucked. It's alright though. She was a great waitress. The jalapeno marg was insane. It was so good but actually so spicy, it took us a while to finish it. This was the first meal we had in Denver and we talked about it for the rest of the trip. For lunch we ordered Tequila Lime Chicken, Grilled Salmon, Blue Agave Fish Tacos and for desert we ordered Tres Chocolate Brownie Cake. Our server first bought the drinks which was margarita along with chips, salsa and queso sauce. The drink was amazing and it was what I needed it. Chips Salsa and queso was also delicious. Lunch at the Blue Agave Grill near the 16th Street Mall Area in Denver. Place has a southwest vibe and the food has been described as seafood, mexican, and asian fusion. Sounds like an identity crisis, however seems to work well here. Three people in our party, one had fish tacos, another had scalllops, and I had the green chili burger. All were happy campers. The burger was served open face on a half brioche bun, smothered in a green chili sauce with onion, white cheddar, onion, crema and french fries. The burger and chili was a good combination. Bun gets soggy but that's ok. It all seems to work. Fries were nothing special, a bit salty but a compliment with the sweet ketchup. Asian slaw would have knocked it out of the park. Service was good. Yelpers get half off the second entree which was a pleasant surprise. Saw the pumpkin expresso bisque at a nearby table and that looked amazing. Wow, this is now one of my new favorite spots in Denver. In town for Labor Day weekend, and we wanted some happy hour action - this place delivers like crazy. It runs from 3-6 Monday through Friday, all day Tuesday. They have $5 margaritas that are out of this world, and a great menu of happy hour street tacos. Tons of other food and drink, too. We ordered the Pesto Carnita tacos - these are amazing. I mean, really, they're insanely good. They have delicious sauce, a crisp layer of cheese on the tortilla, and perfectly cooked meat. Get them! We had the Muy Macho Margarita, which is a spicy jalapeño tequila, as well as the Spicy Cucumber, which has this amazing spice added on top. It's actually spicier! Here is the thing, Blue Agave isn't bad necessarily, it is just blah...boring... tourist type Mexican food. Colorado has, in my opinion, some of the best Mexican food around, and this place just doesn't show that deliciously wonderful side of our state. I will say that the service here was phenomenal and our waitress was a 10/10 and a great example of the hospitality much of Colorado has to offer. The food is more for looks than taste and everything is oddly sweet. Like there is a light dusting of sugar over everything served. We ordered spicy margs that had a dusting of tajin but there was no spice to be found beyond that. I will give them a plus on their tequila offerings, they have something for everyone when it comes to tequila. The tacos aren't bad, like I said before, they are just... kind of forgettable. Like you will shrug and be like "yeah this is fine, I will eat it" but you aren't going to go tell all your friends about the bomb tacos you just had at blue agave. I also had the bison chili which again was just kind of fine, nothing to write home about. My entree totally different story the only note worthy item in this picture was the mash potato's. Everything else was extremely sub par the braised short ribs were simply put "sauced covered fat." They were delicious! We then ordered chips with the fire roasted salsa and the mango salsa. Both were very good. My boyfriend who doesnt usually like fruit salsas really enjoyed the mango one, to our surprise. For an entree I ordered the top shelf enchilada and they were very good. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the lobster in the enchilada was fresh you could tell it wasnt imitation which is amazing. My boyfriend got the gigantic blue agave tacos. We came here for dinner on St. Patrick's day. It was busy but we had great service. Our drinks did take a while to come but the server knocked off $5 a person off our bills to apologize. A little high end and quite a delicious spot to eat in Denver! Came off a recommendation from a friend who visited, truly loved our margaritas and loved app of grilled octopus. I was able to make a same day reservation for 3 people. We met on Tuesday and they have a Happy Hour special all day. The tilapia tacos were amazing. I actually got two orders of them. A tip is to look at prices on the regular menu because it may not be worth it to get the happy hour size for the food. We were silly to go tonight because it was the 1st night of the Denver Nuggets finals.
