Their margaritas list is awesome! You want a fancy marg? This is the spot. Their happy hour specials are great for downtown. I was able to get a reservation day-of downtown which saved the day. Pro tip: Get their Warm Chorizo Corn Dip. Hands down, best part of our meal. I was not super impressed with their entrees. They were a little expensive for the quality and I had a hard time finding something I'd like on the menu. They have a lot of fish options all over the menu if you like fish. First things first, Great service! The host staff, our server Robbie was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and all smiles- it was infectious! The food was no disappointment, in fact it kept the smiles going! We ordered the Chorizo Corn dip and it's delicious. The dip is packed with ingredients so you are always enjoying each bite and it's packed with flavor. The main courses did not disappoint either! My husband ordered the Tilapia tacos and I went with the Creamy chicken breast. They were amazing portions and it was filling. However, the most important thing was the taste and they both were yummy. The only thing is a little more dab of that habanero cream sauce would of been perfect! This place is one of the best at mixing Southwestern dishes with a focus on seafood. That black and white nachos appetizer were amazing! The mix of shrimp and lobster topped with cheese and beans and chipotle cream makes for a mouth full of flavor with every bite. I also got the chorizo dip which was also amazing! Sort of a fondue of cheese, it was fun to dip the nachos as well as regular chips with this! Finally I got the top shelf enchiladas. I would go as far to say this is the best restaurant in the Downtown Denver area. You do not want to overlook this place. Very interesting how they split their menu into two sides- The land and the water. If you are looking at an appetizer, the Queso Fundido is so good. There are a few grilled flour tortillas that come with it to dip in the fundido sauce. For entrees, I've never tasted every person's meal and thought that I could order any one of them and absolutely LOVE it, but that was before I ate here. Each entree was so great!!! My two favorites were the Adobo Pork Burrito and the Spicy Fettuccine with grilled chicken. There was a great kick to the fettuccine that provided a spice that wasn't too overpowering for the average person. I think if you have to get one thing though, I would go with that burrito. The corn pico and green chili was a nice addition to the perfectly cooked pork shoulder. The atmosphere and servers were outstanding and everyone was so helpful. One complaint was I wish you could have options with what margaritas you wanted a flight of. They have a set 4 that come with the flight of margaritas. Still good, especially the Sangria Swirl. Came in on a Thursday night with 2 friends. Was fairly crowded but we had reservations and did fine. The chorizo corn dip was definitely on point and a highlight of the trip. Also had a steak burrito that was very tasty, and a margarita flight that I mostly enjoyed (jalapeño one wasn't my fave and I couldn't make it through drinking all of it). Two very small things weren't so good: One, our waitress was super great at checking on us until she disappeared. Two, the space itself wasn't super conducive to visiting. Great experience here on a recent visit. We opted for two apps, the seafood nachos and the pork carnitas tacos. Both were really tasty and between the two there was plenty of food for the two of us. Excellent house margaritas added to the enjoyment. Even though we were full-ish, we op-ed to share a sopapilla stuffed with ice cream and topped with chocolate and strawberry sauces, just plain yummy. Taco and Tequila Tuesdays! If you are anywhere in the vicinity of 16th Street Mall on a Tuesday, put this on your list of places to visit. This is not your average taco joint. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and has curb appeal for gays. It's dimly lit and sophisticated: perfect for date night or an intimate dinner. The swirl Margaritas are fantastic, and they are deceptively strong. Two of them, and you will definitely start to feel it. Sip responsibly. I started with the cheese and corn dip. When it arrives at my table, it looked like a cup of soup, but hidden just under the soupy surface was a glorious glob of cheesy amazingness. Oh my wow! The only downside is that the chips were rarely strong enough to support the weight of the cheese, so often I would have to bring another chips as reinforcement. #Teamwork For dinner I ordered the lobster and crab tacos. They can teach you an order, but after the cheese dip they were more than enough. The seafood was sweet, and it was complemented by a simple variety of fresh and delicious ingredients. Very well done. For dessert I had the sopapilla. I was expecting a small one on a plate, but instead they brought me a serving that was enough for three people. It was sliced, stuffed with ice cream and strawberry sauce, and then topped with chocolate sauce. Although I tried to will myself to finish it, I could barely get through half. My server was amazing, I had a fantastic see outdoors, and everything I enjoyed was simply delicious. Stopped in here for a quick meal and some drinks with friends the other day. Wait staff was very nice (Abby in particular!), food was tasty and drinks were good also. Unfortunately, this is a one star review because of management. Specifically the female manager, I believe I overheard her name as Christy, she was extremely unpleasant and spoke rudely and harshly to the employees. The man + I visited here prior to date night at the theatre. The atmosphere is casual so we were a bit overdressed, but that was to be expected. I'm guessing their margs, mimosas, + sangria are good given what I'd heard from others, but we didn't partake. We stuck with water and started our dining experience with the coconut shrimp appetizer, which was quite tasty. The coconut breading was light and the accompanying sauce and grilled pineapple were spot on. For dinner, I had the chicken tortilla soup which was way more hearty than expected. It comes with all of the fixings already piled high in the bowl and then they pour the piping hot broth over the top at the table. I thought the soup would be a light meal, but halfway through I was full. Did that stop me? Unfortunately not. It was quite yummy and I ate every last bite. My man wasn't quite as fortunate with his Tequila Lime Chicken, which was thin and dry. Our server was attentive, yet distracted. I'm guessing she had too many tables as she didn't make eye contact at all. While checking on us she was always scanning her other tables rather than paying attention to the one in front of her and we joked about how she would ask a question and then walk off before we could open our mouths to respond. It's nice to find wonderful food during the CoVID season. Going out is a risk, but finding a place that both mitigates the risk and provides a wonderful experience on top of it is special. From socially distant tables, everyone friendly even through masks, and the QR code menus - the restaurant did it's job. But having had BBQ chicken at a number of places over the years and having a version that completely blew my mind was completely unexpected. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection, as was the jalapeno cornbread. The avocado salsa and Mexican corn has such amazingly bright flavors that it brought joy to my face. For dessert we shared an apple bacon empenada, which had a flakiness almost like a croissant, and the applesauce and bacon flavors matched delightfully. The ladies in our party enjoyed the margaritas, and I enjoyed their ample menu of local CO draft craft beers. Service was very pleasant and responsive. They have QR codes for the menus, which seems like a good idea during a pandemic. The location on 16th Street Mall is convenient. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. The on-street live entertainment outside the restaurant (some sort of dancing / singing cowboy with a microphone) was a little much. So we opted to dine indoors. (Of course , I assume the street performance was outside the restaurant's control.) It is very nicely appointed inside and is tastefully decorated. One suggestion is to opt to a different music playlist. The 90s alternative playlist did not seem fitting for an upscale southwestern restaurant! I decided to try this restaurant out while I was in town. I booked my reservation on open table which is always easy for me. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the host stand and immediately sat in a booth. From what I could see, all staff were following covid protocols. My booth was very far from everybody which was a plus! To my surprise, it was happy hour! I love a good happy hour and they had $5 select margaritas. I ordered an original and a spicy jalapeño and cucumber infused margarita. Let me tell you that the spicy jalapeño Margarita was to die for!! It was delicious and not overly spicy which can happen sometimes. My server recommended it and she was so right! For food, I order the mango fish tacos which was fried tilapia( which is not a good fish for tacos). The fish was very fishy which over- powered the entire taco. I couldn't really enjoy it because of that. The rice and beans were really tasty!! This place was pretty affordable with all of this coming out to around $30. I just had one of the worst meals at Blue Agave Grill where I tried one of their breakfast burritos which was an oily mess of a meal. Bacon was not cooked, it was served in a runny plate and complete uneditable. I ate a single bite and I was done. The worst meal I have ever had period at a restaurant. It is really too bad because I have really enjoyed their tacos en fuego in the past but I will never come back to this restaurant. They still charged me for my meal. Avoid this dump of a restaurant. I honestly don't expect to find really, really good food on 16th Street Mall, but here we are. It's mostly the usual chain restaurants, which are fine I guess, but Blue Agave was surprisingly tasty. Pro tip: Make a reservation with Open Table and you'll get a free appetizer up to $15. Even if you make the reservation 5 minutes prior to getting there it works. The first visit was spectacular. Elevated this place to a different level. Our server (Nicole?) was super nice and enthusiastic; made some excellent recommendations. We used our free appetizer on the Chorizo Mango Nachos (sounds weird, really isn't) and we nearly ordered another plate of it. There's only about a dozen blue corn chips but they're absolutely loaded. The Chorizon & Mango & Asadero cheese each hit your palate a little differently and make your taste buds want to fiesta. I also can't recommend enough the Coconut Shrimp Tacos and the Tacos En Fuego. Shoutout to the Margarita flight. Great idea and each of the margaritas we tried were uniquely tasty. Muy Macho & the Spicy Cucumber are definite repeat options. The second visit wasn't nearly as impressive and with a less friendly, less attentive server. We decided not to go with 'real' food and just dabble with our own tapas menu - trying 4 or 5 appetizers. Of course we used our free appetizer to try the Lobster Street Tacos - which were delicious but really tiny. Happy we didn't pay out of pocked for these. The guac was good and the salsa was pretty tasty as well. We were really excited for the Warm Chorizo Corn dip but were pretty disappointed when it came out and had a very loose consistency of a cream soup with a little corn and little to no chorizo. Is that a pound and a half of Pork Carnitas? No it's got to be at least 2 pounds! Wow this is one of the best family bundles I've seen around town. It's an incredible amount of food plenty for five people. And lots of variety. The pork Carnitas meat, buffalo green chili, chips and salsa, rice, black beans and plenty of flour tortillas! wOw! Everything was really tasty you've got to try the buffalo green chili just the right amount of spice to kick things up. I think this will probably make two family meals! Blue Agave impresses on all levels. Lexi was a fantastic server - attentive, got our order perfect without writing it down, and she was knowledgeable about dairy free options on the menu. She even brought us a free dessert with writing on it congratulating us on our anniversary! Next time we're there we'll ask for Lexi. The food always pops with flavor, it's so well balanced and fresh. They have really creative dishes too - you must try the pumpkin espresso bisque. The price is more than worth the quality of food you get. We haven't had a bad dish there yet (or even an average dish - they're all great.) The music is pumping but it's still good for conversation.
