There is so much variety here and a good amount of vegetarian options. I came for a sandwich, the buratta sandwich was delicious and I had it with the tomato soup it was nice a tad bit too salty. Lots of seeing and very comfortable I would love to come back next time to try the salads they are huge and there were so many Uber Eats drivers coming in and picking up to go orders so I will definitely be back. Service was really quick and they were very kind as we were there at closing, and they let us know that we could finish up eating before we leave so thoughtful!

This review is for pick up. I've been to Blue Barn a handful of time and it never disappoints. Yes, their salads are always on the pricier side but their portions are big so I usually get two servings out of it. I called, placed my order and it was ready within 20 minutes. I noticed that it wasn't that busy inside even though I ordered around noon. I decided to order the Tostada and it was fresh and delicious. Loved the romaine mixed in with some ingredients including jicama, toasted corn, tortilla strips, cherry tomato. I also really liked their chipotle-agave dressing (on the side) and a slice of the herb focaccia. I would like to try their Thai Chicken Salad next time I stop by.

I absolutely LOVE Blue Barn! All of the food is so fresh and so delicious! I've only ordered takeout, however I believe the takeout is just as good as dining in. Their steak sandwich is incredible. The service is excellent even for to go orders. All the food is treated with care and has a great presentation. Their salads are HUGE, and I mean HUGE!!! I don't think I've ever been able to finish one! Since I've never dined in, I'm not sure too much about the ambiance, but I've heard from friends it's very welcoming and enjoyable. On the down side, it is a bit expensive. The salads are $18 and sandwiches are $19. A bit pricey. They also have a kids menu for the kiddos. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad and I wished I had more dressing because there was so much salad in my to go box. By the way, their ranch is AMAZING with their tater tots or truffle fries. Highly recommend!

First off the vibes here are great. The interior is super nice and honestly thought it was kept super clean. The staff there is super nice and made me feel welcome for the first time. They also let me know their personal favorites. The truffle sandwich I got was so good. Perfect crunch from the outer layer of the bread but at the same time super fluffy. The truffle wasn't too overpowering and the ingredients were all super fresh. Overall great sandwich!

Food, service, and ambiance can be summed up by saying perfect, warm, mellow. I wandered into the Polk Gulch neighborhood by accident and found what I was looking for here: a lush green salad with tons of good stuff and a perfect amount of vinaigrette that was not overpowering. Plus they serve a few wines! I personally loved the sauv blanc. The rest of the menu looks interesting, healthy, and delicious. Music playing was perfection, and not too loud. It was actually music! Spoke at length to Annette about living in the area, some different sections/districts/neighborhoods with cool and fun vibes, and life in general. She is a delight and an asset to this community. On the first good weather day of our trip I am glad to have found this place just by taking a stroll. Win win win!

Ordered takeout for lunch. They had a lot of salad and sandwiches with build your own options. I went with their classic grilled chicken sandwich with avocado smash. Flexible customization to remove stuff you don't want. Bread is on the dryer side

This location is fantastic. Placed an order for pickup today at lunch. Ordered the Buffalo Fry and some fries. Sandwich and fries both amazing and fresh. Food was ready within 10 mins for pickup so perfect for a small lunch window. Plenty of seating inside if needed.

Wooo Jesus okay. Total was $26.51 for a U-Pick Salad. And no kidding, I know I didn't hit tip. And I look back and said I tipped. I go baby kale, ginger miso dressing, red onions, edamame, Parmesan cheese, sesame, seeds, croutons, with chicken. The take out box is about 5 inches tall with 4 inches width. And they just decided to dump the chicken at the top of the box without mixing it in. Honestly, now I see why people go poor.

    Clubber sandwich

It's not bad. The bread on the sandwich is a little hard, but it's also crisp too. The turkey "clubber" sandwich was filling as well. Nothing outstanding though, just a solid sandwich.

The salads here are all amazing - the Thai Chicken is by far my favorite! The salads are definitely ridiculously expensive but they're huge and very filling. The service is quick, but wasn't the most friendly.

Came here to try the tomato soup after seeing a Instagram video of a local for the Marina neighborhood that she was recommended by the manager to try the tomato basil soup. I was taken the order by Erin today, she was so nice; she has a great hospitality made me feel so comfortable as a first timer. The tomatoes soup were pretty delicious, I like the tartness from the tomatoes went well with a sense of pleasant taste from the basil. Definitely will come back for more of that and of course to get their salads! Thank you Erin

Loved blue barn. The perfect spot for a salad and sandwich on a hot summer day. We got the fattoush salad and the clubber sandwich and both were great.

Good wine and cocktail selection from the bar. I would pass on their burgers though which are mediocre. What makes this place 5-stars is the service and ambiance. Some of their staff have been there for several years, which is a testament to how well the restaurant is run. Since it's along the Embarcadero and close to Fisherman's Wharf, a lot of tourists tend to wander in. And this is probably why their website says there's a strict dress code. But I feel comfortable coming here in shorts and a t-shirt. The staff is always welcoming. I also go to the Los Altos Grill which is the same restaurant as Hillstone. The menu is pretty much the same, but the service at Hillstone is just excellent.

Hillstone is a nice, intimate, relaxing spot on the Embarcadero. A little further on down the road from the main hustle and bustle where the big artery streets and Embarcadero meet, so a bit calmer and a bit easier to find parking around here. In many years of patronizing this spot, I've only had good experiences. Great atmosphere, service, and food. Classic yet modern. Lovely bar area and beautiful booths. Just the right degree of dim, romantic lighting. Always an interesting mix of locals, tourists, and corporate meetings for people-watching. The drinks and food are always excellent. Full bar and a very respectable wine list. Food-wise, we've tried all kinds of things, and everything's been great, but definitely start with the artichokes. For dessert, the chocolate pot de crème is a must. Get two or three of these, don't be shy, and you can thank me later. I don't believe I've been to other Hillstone locations, but you can't go wrong with this one. Before or after, you can take a walk along the beautiful SF waterfront. Enjoy!

My friend and ai started with the blackberry slushy drink, which was divine! Like an açaí bowl of it had alcohol. We shared the Caesar salad. It was lemony salty and delicious. Perfect amount of dressing and generous with the croutons and parm! We also shared the burrata pizza. Yum! The bread was cooked perfectly, and the cheese and tomatoes were amazing. The lemon oil was soo good and all came together for a perfect pizza. We each got soft serve to finish, and I got vanilla with the brown sugar cereal topping. Wow! It was delicious and creamy and the perfect way to end the meal. The interior was very open and cute! The staff were all very friendly, including our server Brennan!
