My girlfriend absolutely loves Blue Barn, so when we were bar-hopping around the area before the 49ers game, I knew I had to get her something from here. We got the Thai Chicken Salad, an order of the tomato basil soup, and that came out to around $40 after tax and tip. The Thai chicken salad is really good. Lots of good flavors and textures and for someone like me who doesn't love salads, this one is really good. We got the dressing on the side and in retrospect we should've asked for an additional side of dressing because one wasn't enough. It's a large salad so definitely get an extra side of dressing. The tomato basil soup was really good as well, we ate it with some leftover pizza we had at home, and it definitely hit the spot. Blue Barn is a healthy splurge, because the salads are mostly tasty (but can be hit or miss on quality) while also being some of the most expensive in SF. My personal favorites are the Spring Salad which is seasonal, the Caesar Salad, Tostada Salad, and Waldorf Salad. They also do great meat sides that you can add to your salad, like grilled steak, salmon, or shrimp. These add-ons cost an extra $8-$12, so when all is said and done you could be paying close to $40 for your salad after tax, which is a little bananas. Still, I can tell they put a lot of care into their ingredient selection, and it's a good option if you don't mind lighting some cash on fire. I do wish they had some more convenient locations closer to the Financial District or Mission Bay, but maybe one day! read more

Yes, their salads are always on the pricier side but their portions are big so I usually get two servings out of it. I called, placed my order and it was ready within 20 minutes. I noticed that it wasn't that busy inside even though I ordered around noon. I decided to order the Tostada and it was fresh and delicious. Loved the romaine mixed in with some ingredients including jicama, toasted corn, tortilla strips, cherry tomato.
