five spice chicken banh mi
Michelle Z.

Great banh mi! Super flavorful and tender chicken, yummy veggies, and also has a nice mayo sauce. I liked the crunchiness of the bread which didn't (!) hurt the roof of my mouth to eat. Also not too expensive for the Marina area. I also tried the chicken pho and while the soup was delicious, I didn't love the chicken (slightly dry) and the noodles (very al dente). Would come back to try other banh mi options though!

Crunchy Saigon Chicken Salad

I was craving a really good chicken salad, and this place delivered! The Saigon Chicken Salad is a must-try! the chicken is so tender and juicy, and the dressing is perfectly balanced: tangy, not too sweet or sour. I noticed a lot of people ordering pho, but I'm so glad I went with the salad (they also have healthy Asian bowls). Everything just tasted right. Definitely adding this spot to my go-back list! There's only one person at the check out counter, and he's super friendly and helpful when I asked a ton of questions about the menu. The space is also a nice place to chill with a book while eating a good meal or hang out with friends.

I'm a big fan of bun mee. I've been going to the location on Fillmore Street and figured it would be the same. Yum. We went there today to pick up sandwiches to take to Moscone. It's the first weekend of spring! The sandwiches are so good. They ask if you want jalapeños and of course, we do! I got the tofu bun mee because it's the only vegetarian option. He got the first item on the sandwich menu which was the five spice chicken. The bread is crunchy and fresh. Yum! I love the ratio of carrots and cilantro. I'm taking one star off my delicious experience because they have beer and wine on their menu, but don't have their liquor license apparently to serve. They should just cover up that part of their menu to be transparent. If you do want beer or wine, go to Marina Deli otherwise, get Vietnamese New Orleans style coffee.

I am soooo happy a bun mee opened in the marina. There bun mee sandos are the best I have had in the city and its location near chestnut is ideal for marina bites. I have also tried the noodles but the sand which is far superior imo. Friends staff and wait times for food was short. PLEASE DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND GO HERE!

Chicken Banh Mi and Crispy Egg Rolls

I was excited to see another Banh Mi spot open up in the Marina. I got a chicken banh mi and crispy egg rolls. I used to go to Asian Box nearby for Banh Mi in the area and this one was a lot better -- it was packed with veggies but still didn't feel like too much, the chicken was tender, and the bread was a good texture. The crispy egg rolls and sauce it came with were rich in flavor as well! My friend got a lemongrass tofu and enjoyed it as well, and mentioned this would become a go to spot for her. The service was good as well and prices were reasonable. This is a good spot for affordable, quick, high quality food!

Bun Mee opened last week in the Marina but I discovered this location yesterday while walking the dog. I stopped by for takeaway lunch & ordered the classic combo sandwich without jalapeño or onions & a golden milk tea boba. The dining room is a decent size for a quick meal if you're planning on dining in & neat & clean. My sandwich was ready in less than 10 minutes. The baguette was nice & crispy & the filling was a generous amount of pate, mortadella & lemongrass pork. The cucumbers & pickled daikon & carrots added brightness & additional flavor. It's a pretty big sandwich so I only ate half. The golden milk boba tea is actually black tea with milk, boba & sugar. It runs on the sweet side. Service is quick, friendly & helpful. Welcome to the Marina neighborhood Bun Mee! I'm glad that I don't have to go to the Tenderloin for a good Vietnamese sandwich & will return to try other menu items soon,

Crispy Fried Chicken Bun

Bun Mee nailed their crispy fried chicken bun! The chicken contained all the crispy and juicy goodness you expect from fried chicken and was elevated with the fluffy bun, slaw and sauce! SOO GOOD! The young man who took our order on 11/2, midday was very welcoming and helpful, proving that good customer service elevates any dining experience. We also had another person (perhaps the manager) come out and check on us which was more than what I would expect from a order at the register restaurant. Restaurant was clean with plenty of indoor seating. Bun Mee definitely won me over today!

Classic combo

I came in on a Saturday at lunch time and I was the only one there. I got a Classic Combo sandwich and some sort of strawberry lemonade type drink that I think they make themselves. They have a good amount of seating (inside only) if you want to eat there. The bread was nice and crispy, but I was underwhelmed by the pork- it was kind of chewy. The mortadella was sliced so thin and there wasn't much so you could hardly taste it. Pate was good but I would have liked more. Pickled veggies were nice and crisp. Drink was good and not too sweet! Staff was very nice.

Top notch service. They had really friendly counter staff people that remembered your name, which was appreciated. Food came out fast, and food was yummy! Good portion size too. Plenty of seating indoors that I enjoyed. I will likely be back

Five spice chicken banh mi

Banh mi in the Marina? Much needed! I ordered the five spice chicken and it was super tender, with good flavor. They give a decent amount of meat. The bread I enjoyed since it wasn't too toasted, a bit softer than a baguette. Overall, ingredients tasted fresh and high quality.

Chicken pho

Came across this place near my hotel and got their chicken pho and a lychee vanilla tea. Chicken pho definitely needs more flavor and wish they didn't cook the bean sprouts in my pho. My lychee vanilla tea had short brown hair in it also which is disgusting. Service was fast and the tables outside are clean. Definitely have to try out their chicken sandwich and salad next time.

I ordered bun mee take out for delivery. I got the 5 spiced chicken banh mi and it was better than I expected! The chicken was well seasoned and tender. I chose to get japalenos on the side bc I wasn't sure how much spice I wanted. Overall, I would definitely get this again!

Rainbow Salad with Tofu
Matt J.

Bun Mee was solid and likely a repeater, albeit not a total slam dunk. It's important to note that the people there were super friendly and accommodating with making recommendations, guiding me toward vegetarian options and hooking us up with extra dressing and sauce. The Rainbow Salad was fresh and appealing but could use some help in the flavor department. The green goddess dressing was nice but could use more salt and a greater quantity to better coat the salad fixings. Plus, it wouldn't hurt for them to mix it in for you even if it might hamper the titular "rainbow" presentation. The tofu was really well seasoned but the overall salad suffered from a bolus of cabbage that overwhelmed the flavor of the tofu and the dressing. Overall, I think it's just tweaks away from a really good dish but needs some massaging.

Inside Golden Gate Market you will see refrigerators filled with cherry and lemon flavored drinks along with soda and beers. One thing to note is you cannot customize the sandwich, not sure about the pizzas, which smelled delicious. It's consistently good, and you always know what you're going to get. One of the biggest standouts for me is the service. Every member of the staff is incredibly professional and genuinely seems to care about the restaurant. It honestly feels like everyone has an owner's mentality. They're attentive without being overbearing, and the experience always feels polished from start to finish. Food wise, I definitely have my favorites. The buffalo wings are an absolute must. I'm not usually someone who loves spicy food, but these are so good that I order them every single time. I always ask for them tossed instead of having the sauce on the side, and they've never disappointed. The fries are another staple. Whenever I bring friends or family here, they're always one of the first things we order. They're beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and one of those dishes that everyone at the table ends up reaching for. I've also had the carpaccio a few times and have always enjoyed it. The one thing that wasn't for me was the shaved Brussels sprouts salad. I know it's one of their signature dishes and plenty of people absolutely love it, but it just wasn't my personal favorite. That's completely a matter of taste rather than execution. I haven't really explored the pizza or pasta menu because those just aren't dishes I typically order, so I can't really comment on them. If I had one critique, it's that I do think the restaurant is a little overhyped. There's almost always a line out the door, and while I definitely think it's a great restaurant, I personally don't think it's worth waiting forever if you have other good options nearby. That said, it's consistently reliable, which is probably why it's always so busy. For lunch, this is honestly one of my go to spots, especially when I'm hosting people. If some of my other favorites like Mama Noko or Tia aren't open, this is almost always where we end up. In the evenings, I sometimes lean toward those places because I tend to prefer lighter meals and salads for dinner, whereas this menu is definitely a little richer and more indulgent. Overall, though, I've had consistently great experiences here over the years. Great service, consistently good food, a lively atmosphere, and a restaurant I'd happily continue recommending to both locals and visitors.

Great value and great flavor and enough for two meals. So good that we went back a few weeks later and they added a special southwestern wrap, and somehow this one was even better! I hope they make this a staple on their menu because honestly I think I like the flavor profile better than the traditional cesar wrap. Crust is light. The third slice helps break up the richness of the filling, and by being so thin (but not too thin), it keeps the overall bread:filling ratio in a good spot. It also helps give some friction, lessening the amount of filling that oozes out the back and sides when you take a bite. The filling is creamy, rich, and well seasoned. A pinch of something something to zhuz it up might be a nice option (maybe relish? Japanese curry powder? Furikake?), but as is it's a very solid basic egg sando. Besides the culinary side, at the current $10, it's reasonably priced. Chicken Caesar wrap: The salad tastes notably fresher than most other CCWs I've had and it's not too stem-y. It's close to what you'd get at a nice sit down restaurant, as opposed to some overdressed slop at a buffet table. Mine was a smidge light on the chicken, could've used a few more of the nicely seasoned croutons, and could've been rolled a bit tighter, but I would (and will) order it again. Service was friendly, feeling like a nice little neighborhood spot.
