The Mueller area has grown so much and the restaurant scene has improved greatly so we were hopeful about this new restaurant, especially as an alternative option to classic breakfast fare. Unfortunately, there were many service and food issues. You could clearly see the cook staff and wait staff get into many arguments about food not being delivered and placed correctly. You could also see other tables get visibly irritated about how long food took to come out. (However, I usually give the benefit of the doubt in case the kitchen is under-staffed) In addition, we had to flag down wait staff for simple items like refills and to pay the bill. In terms of the food, there was a huge potential for it to be good, but our food was placed under the heat lamp for so long that the tops were over cooked and even burned. On top of that, the food that wasn't placed under the heat lamp was cold and gummy. We ordered some of the Blue Lacy classics (notated by the picture of a dog on their menu) and it was incredibly disappointing. Pancakes were dense and chewy, monte cristo was bland, chili was oily and over-salted (and burnt). Our guests were so horribly disappointed with the service and food that we were absolutely mortified to have dined here. There is so much potential for this restaurant and the location is fantastic for foot-traffic. In addition, the general ambience was clean and inviting. However, even as a local I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to anyone until the food and service issues are resolved. It would take a significant improvement for us to dine here again. read more

I really enjoyed the food! I had the Breakfast Bagel (I think that's what it was called), and it was soooo good. I was a little surprised about how empty it was. I've gone a few times and I've only ever seen 1-2 other customers there. A downside of Blue Lacy is that there is no internet. Every time I eat there my phone goes on SOS (along with the people I've eaten with). It immediately starts working when I leave the building. We're staying at The Origin hotel over night and we chose to come to Blue Lacy for dinner. They have great happy hour specials. The food was delicious. We had the bear battered cauliflower as an appetizer and it was the best part of the whole meal! Thaw was our server and she was amazing. Super sweet and accommodating. Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is my friend's onion rings were very greasy. Other than that, everything was great! read more

So this place totally outshines the adjacent hotel that hosts it Blue Lacy became my Oasis in my crazy two days of judging in Austin. Thank you, thank you, thank you Blue Lacy. The cocktails and the food are amazing the service makes it second to none in Austin. The atmosphere is very hipster boutique embracing the retro you'd expect. This chef doesn't miss. I've tried several dishes, both breakfast and dinner have loved everything I've ordered. Highly recommend the cocktail, Lavender Lemon drops(tastes as good as it looks in my photos) for starters, Hummus. The apps are to die for especially the hummus with olive relish. So good. The curry with added chicken was wonderful but even better was the gnocchi with added salmon(it was the biggest serving of salmon I've ever received in any restaurant, that's right the portions are also Texas sized. Went a couple of days ago for lunch. Only 2 other tables besides us. Took over 25 minutes for our food to come out and when it did....gross. My partners "melt" was cold! Cheese not melted and the side of chili fries were mushy. My club was basic and the Turkey tasted like packaged lunch meat. When we complained about the "melt" they were indifferent. We live in the neighborhood and we've tried this place 4 times now over a period of 6 months. Each time hoping that it would be better. Pros: They make a good burger and the fries are fantastic. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. Cons: Where do I begin? For starters, they have a staffing problem. Twice we have been when the place was only half full and still waited for 20-30 mins to be sat. Today's experience was as follows: We were told to sit anywhere we liked (only 1 other table was occupied) so no wait. We were served room temperature water which is fine, but it would have been nice to have been offered ice. I asked what the Blue Plate Special of the day was (listed prominently on the menu) and the server said he didn't know. He left to go ask and returned to tell us there was not one. My sister in law asked what the "sliders of the day" were and he looked confused and said "cheeseburgers". Fine. We were looking for a small meal before going to a movie so my wife and I ordered the Meatloaf Patty Melt to split and my sister-in law ordered the Texas Fries (an appetizer she was just going to have as her entree). 5-10 mins passed and the waiter returned to apologize. They were out of chili and couldn't make the Texas Fries (I should mention here that this is the 3rd time out of 4 visits that we attempted to order something that they turned out not to have). She ordered the burger which we have had before and knew to be decent. Tick tock, tick tock..... 10 mins later, her burger arrives. The fries were fantastic and the burger was good. Nothing to write home about, but good. As she sat eating her burger, the waiter again apologized for the wait and said our meatloaf sandwich would be out in 5 mins or so. 10 mins later we began to contemplate leaving cash on the table for the burger (which she had finished by now) and simply leaving, but at this point, we were starving so we waited it out. 5 or so minutes later, he arrives with our sandwich. One look and I was already not impressed, but as he went on to explain the delay, I was even LESS impressed. As he described it "it took longer because the meatloaf is frozen and had to be warmed in the oven". Yes. He actually told us, in no uncertain terms, that the meatloaf they were serving us took forever because it was frozen. I guess I should be thankful they warmed it in an oven and not a microwave? We ate a few bites, it was fine, but not what I would expect with for $22. I've had far better pattymelts at fast food establishments (read "Whataburger") Long/short, we have never had a good experience and we've tried to give them every opportunity. If it weren't for the hotel they are in, I don't see any way this place could keep their doors open. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Took us 4 times to learn our lesson. I was super excited to sample this restaurant and just get a little dessert, but I was pretty disappointed with this. I want to first point out that the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. I hadn't been over to Mueller in a while, but the area is really growing and it looks great. It was cool to have this restaurant right below a hotel. The server her was great. Very cool dude and helped us out very quickly. My problem was with the pecan pie I ordered. It was the tiniest slice of pie I had ever seen served and for $10!!! Not only this, but it was probably the worst pie I ever had. Now again, I only came for a quick dessert to try it out and the pie was recommend, so I can't speak for the quality of the rest of the food items. We visited here twice. And we had two very different experiences. The bartender just had a very disgusting interaction with a fellow new bartender (4 days to be exact). While trying to enjoy my drink she continued to harass this young man about his hiring credentials (based on the convo she had no part in that). Eventually she asked him to leave. Mind you this all occurred behind the bar, not even off to the side or in some kind of privacy. It was so bad I am actually mad at myself for not defending him. The drink was the only good thing about this place. I came by here for brunch on Sunday with my neighbor as I live right next door. I was sorely disappointed with the service and the food. The food took over an hour to come out and they forgot the extra egg I had requested on my hash. You would think after waiting an hour they would've got something as simple as an extra egg right. My side of bacon was in a small container (crumbled bacon which I wasn't expecting) and it came out when I was almost done with my meal. Blue Lacy was highly anticipated when it opened because the neighborhood needed a new restaurant. They have a very nice courtyard with a fire and couches. The menu is basic diner-type food, and the interior is mid-century modern diner-like. Unfortunately for them, I guess, they are in an Internet hole, one of many in Mueller. So it doesn't function as a place to get any work done with a drink or coffee. What they do have is a Frose machine! So on a hot night, it is a nice place to get a glass of frose--if you can get there before 9pm! I'm not sure why they want to close so early when the bars around them stay open until 2am every night. Those places have devoted crowds. Blue Lacy hasn't cultivated the same devotion. read more

Yes it is dog friendly but the service outside was horrible, waited an hour and 30 min for food when it was not busy at all (maybe 3 tables inside). When the server finally came out to take our order, he mentioned there was no more waffles possibly... he went inside to check and didn't come out for another 30 minutes. Burgers came out cold, vanilla latte with coconut milk was very very bitter. Server came to check in us 3 maybe 4 times. Tables were dirty so I had to go in and ask for a rag and bartender kindly came out to clean and brought some whip cream for our pups! Didn't see our own server much this whole time. We let them know of our experience and was given vouchers for cocktails, 1 meal for next time and continued to charge us a 20% gratuity knowing we weren't happy with the experience. We only had 6 people but charged us the 8 people gratuity as 2 family members joined us but didn't order anything due to our experience! read more

I've given Blue Lacy more than a couple tries hoping the service would improve, but unfortunately it was another bad experience. We were a table of 6, and it was not crowded. We waited 10 mins just for water. The server would disappear and we'd have to flag her down (she may have been the only waitress even though there were workers there that weren't busy but weren't paying attention). It was also the second time I had to take the credit card to the front because no one was coming by. The menu and food is hit or miss, with some very tasty dishes and others bland or overcooked. They forgot the appetizer we'd ordered and we had to ask or remind them about our drink orders multiple times. It's a great location that could be a nice alternative to other restaurants around, but management needs to reassess and make needed improvements. read more

This place is fine but really not good. It's a cute setting, lots of potential. Hostess was friendly but extremely casual. The onion rings (appetizer) were the saddest onion rings I've had in my life, and my heart ached seeing onion rings being delivered to another table, knowing they were also going to be disappointed. The onion hadn't been peeled properly so my first onion ring was inedible, and the others were floppy, totally wrong breading and frying technique. Ordered meatloaf as my main. Mashed potatoes were way too soupy, like a boxed/powdered version. The meatloaf was fine but flavorless. And the beans literally smelled like garbage but I was so hungry I still ate half of them - they were edible but not even remotely fresh. Service was relatively speedy since there was only one other party. Nobody got food poisoning. That's kind of our only win. Chili's is more reliable than Blue Lacy. We will never be back here ... the basics were totally missed here. There are so many other good places within a stones throw of this restaurant... needs a real overhaul if it's gonna succeed. read more

What a nice surprise to find this very reasonably-priced eatery in the middle of Austin's Mueller development. Sunday seemed to be a breakfast-all-day affair, and there were several appetizing breakfast options, good coffee and a full cocktail and drinks selection on offer. Service was swiftly and efficiently provided by the delightful staff. I ordered tacos and expected one or two little ones -- what came was three very generous tacos with a bowl of good mixed fruit. The booth where we were seated was pleasantly quiet -- a nice spot for proper conversation without having to shout, which can be an issue at other Mueller venues. We'll be back! read more

Had to cancel a second of drinks ( a beer and a tea ) because it took 20+ minutes. A girl was in training and was the one to close us out because our waiter was nowhere to be found. Food was sub par. Ordered the burger and waiter asked if I wanted pink or no pink I said pink. Burger came out severely over cooked and charred.
