I've been here about 4 times. I've been for their brunch and happy hour. I think they have one of the best brunches in the area. The Adobe pie is to die for! It's a mix between cornbread or stuffing and bread pudding with spices, but it's not sweet of course. The buffet is roughly $18 for all you can eat. You will not be disappointed in their offerings. Waffles with whipped cream, sausages, chicken enchiladas, peach cobbler and apple cobbler, street tacos, and mimosas! Yum! I always have brunch here for a big gathering with my girlfriends. i think the price is very good for what you get. Blue Mesa is very eclectic with the flavors they experiment with, which i totally appreciate! Not your traditional Mexican cuisine. The happy hour is equally good because it goes through the weekend which several restaurants don't do. I recommend the Blue Frozen Margarita and the Sangria Blue Swirl Margarita. Just be aware, that the weekend happy hour is BAR AREA ONLY. A great perk for the weekday happy hour is free Quesadillas! You can pretty much eat there free on these days ...LOL. Cheap date? I've been to the location in Addison (the old one) for happy hour and it's been pretty good. But this review is specifically for the brunch on Sundays at the Frisco location. Hands down best brunch I've had in Dallas that is not overpriced. They have so much to choose from. It's $17.95 with unlimited mimosas! You can't beat that, especially with all the choices. They have the taco bar, the omelette station, carved meats, lots of desserts, of course the main breakfast items and also ice cream! They also have salads and fruit. I've gone here several times over the past few months and have even taken out of town visitors there and everyone LOVES it. Such good food and the service is always dynamite. One tip, it's VERY busy on Sundays (duh, it's a popular place because it's SO good!) so you will definitely want to make reservations. Otherwise, you'll be standing in line for quite some time. All I can say is that I LOVE Blue Mesa Grill, but not for their regular dining. This is purely a review for their brunch and happy hour, which are as good as it gets. First off, the brunch. $20 all you can eat and man do they have a spread. But I will be honest, when all you can drink mimosas and champagne are included, I cannot say I remember the food after glass number 5. If you have a Sunday without much on your plate, I'd definitely recommending coming by with some great friends to spend the day drinking and eating tacos! Secondly their happy hour. It is hands down my favorite happy hour in DFW! $4 drinks, almost anything you can dream of, my favorite is the mango moijito. They also have FREE chicken and vegetable quesadillas, that's right, FREE! I'd definitely recommend going early because happy hour is only available in the bar area and there's not the most ample seating. But once you claim a table, then this happy hour will be worth it! The restaurant is very clean and well decorated and the menu had offerings that I hadn't seen at any other Mexican restaurant I'd been to. When our food came, I was disappointed to find that the serving sizes didn't live up to the price. I got the churascaritas (skewered meat) which only came with one skewered steak and one skewered chicken, served with taquitos, adobe pie, their corn dish, and a huge tortilla. The seasoning on the skewers were spot on but everything else left much to be desired. Needless to say, I was still hungry afterward. I definitely wasn't a fan of shelling out $30 for two people with both diners still hungry after "eating" their lackluster food. Don't be impressed by the exterior and interior of this restaurant: it looks much better than its food tastes. There will not be a return visit here if I can help it. read more

Well, it was definitely a different type of fare than we typically would go for. We started off with the toothpicks which are three kinds of meat on skewers with queso, guacamole, corn, and bread I would compare to naan. This was a really good dish. I think I would get the larger version of this as a meal if I were to go back. I got the their frozen blue drink (nothing special). For the meal I got their chicken tortillas soup which was actually pretty good. Lots of veggies but the big globs of unmelting cheese were a pain in the arse. My husband got three street tacos, one if which was disgusting, one if which was meh, and a third that was pretty good. As a side he got their masa bowl which was basically like a big ol' dome-like tamale. He also got rice. Was it good? Mine was. My husband's? I don't get the impression that he was too happy in the end. Which sucked because it was his birthday dinner =( We definitely won't be back. Our waiter was kind, the restaurant itself was beautiful, and their chips and salsas (complimentary...forgot to mention them up there) were pretty good. I've been going to the Blue Mesa in Addison for many years but haven't been to the Plano location but once before. My wife and I decided to go again tonight. We got seated and noticed there was only one other table seated in the restaurant. There were also some in the bar but no more than a dozen customers at 5:30pm. We noticed the table was dirty upon seating in the booth. We waited for 15 minutes with no server in sight. We finally just left as we figured it was a sign of what kind of service we'd receive if we actually found a server. Then when we left, the hostess (who seated us 15 mins prior) just said goodbye to us. No asking about why we were leaving. I can honestly say I'll never be back to this location and maybe not any other Blue Mesa again. read more

Went Thursday after the lunch rush. Took some time to get our orders taken. The chips were corn chips and sweet potato chips, with 2 types of salsas. The corn chips weren't fresh, and were going stale. The Most of the sweet potato chips were crispy and kinda a good different chip to have with the salsas. Some of the sweet potato chips were soggy and undercooked. Our food came out after a bit of a wait, and was not hot, but was warm. The ginger rice didn't seem to work with my dish. I literally LIVE for the perfectly made blue corn enchiladas and the spicy (sriracha?) chicken! Sitting by the window makes for a relaxing brunch. I love this place and the variety of foods they serve. I'll continue to recommend it to everyone I know. The chicken is always moist and easy to cut without a knife, even. The blue corn enchiladas are always seasoned perfectly and have the right amount of cheese. The waffles/French toast is always fluffy and the eggs are always made puffy and moist. I met a friend here last week for happy hour. While sitting at the bar the bartender made a premix for margaritas on the rocks. To taste her concotion she used a straw to dip and sample which is perfectly acceptable. However, she then used the same straw to taste the second container she had made. Next, she leaned on the bar, straw in hand, talking with other employees. She then tasted the concoctions a third and fourth time with the same straw. She threw that straw away and got a new straw repeating the use of the straws. And if that was not disgusting enough she gave the straw to the other bartender who then tasted the concoctions with the same straw. They put the lids in the containers, put them behind the bar and then five minutes later made a drink for a customer with the mix. When I spoke to the manager he just made the bartender throw the drink in the glass away, not the entire mixtures. Disgusting beyond belief! read more

We had our rehearsal dinner at this location and have not stopped getting wonderful feedback from all our guests. First, this was the only place that didn't have a minimum, which made it affordable (most places had at least a $5,000 minimum for not even 50 people!). The food is AMAZING, and we had quite a few people new to Texas and thought this Tex mex was one of the best things they had tasted. Their large party room was already booked for the date we wanted so we had a smaller one, but it still fit our group of fifty well. Went to their Sunday brunch. It's very crowded, and all the food is all open and exposed, no screen guards at all. The big pot of soup is on top of a low table with no lid. I am very surprised, people do sneeze, and cough, they're human. Just can't believe it, nothing is guarded from people touching and sneezing. People are no longer required to wear masks, and most don't. Not everything was great tasting. Some of the main entrees, like the brisket and salmon were overly dry and no staf cuts and serves the roast to you. Knife and thongs left out for customers to cut their own. Very surprised!!!! Un-gloved hands are touching the knife. Very long wait for a waiter to come to your table, and then very long wait for the check. They aren't organized. The person who goes around seating everyone is doing a better job then all the other employees. Looked like the only one working. Won't be coming back till they clean up their act and do something about the slightly warm, 5 gallon pot of soup uncovered for all to sneeze and cough on. That's unheard of!!!!! You are taking chances here. I'm just glad I didn't get sick. Too many people for me and I won't do that again. I went here with a few co-workers for after work drinks. Our focus was on drinks and the quesadilla bar (free and unlimited if you purchase a drink). The bar layout was kind of weird, in my opinion as there is the main bar, a big table in the middle (which is way too big), and some booth seating. It is kind of weird to mingle around the big table. Along with my co-workers, I had some beer and stood in the short line for quesadillas, which are made to order. They don't put a lot of cheese, which is good for me, and you get a choice of either veggies or chicken to be included in your quesadilla. I put both, haha. Also included are chips, salsa, and sour cream. Make sure to leave a tip in the jar! Overall, I had a good time with my co-workers here. I think I mainly liked it cuz of the quesadilla bar, haha.
