I was deeply disappointed in this location. The service was horrible and my food was served luke-warm. I had to send my food back and instead of getting me a new bowl, they heated in the microwave until it was scorching hot. You can tell it was heated in the microwave, how disappointed. I ordered the all you can eat fajitas and it took so long to get my food, that I was only able to order a second plate. You kidding me!!! The location has lack lustered service. I am sad to leave a one star review but it is almost a public service announcement. The worst service I have ever experienced. Ordered queso appetizer- didn't get it- ordered a margarita that tasted like stale tonic water and had to go back- requested additional chips& salsa - didn't get it- table of 4 and we had 2 menus- asked for 2 more- didn't get them. Had to ask the server to take our food order. God bless the people that have to work there- evidently there is NO management on site to be sure everything runs smoothly- we would have been happy if anything had gone smoothly. Returned to Blue Mesa recently in response to an email promotion I received offering "Spa" enchiladas. I took that to mean lower calories than the usual enchiladas and since they were being offered for $6.95 I THOUGHT IT WOULD FILL MY MEXICAN FOOD CRAVING WHILE LOWERING MY 2019 CALORIC INTAKE. We arrived and were seated in the pleasant restaurant quickly. Both my companion and I ordered happy hour drinks. Mine was a little weak and instead of the $5 the sign offering it stated I was charged $8? The "Spa" enchiladas were two chicken and spinach with mushroom and minimal sauce no cheese. Served with a couple of dry slices of grilled squash. I wasn't impressed and wouldn't order again. My companion liked them more than I. Overall, I think Blue Mesa puts on a wonderful weekend brunch with a multitude of wonderful and satisfying choices. My husband and I went to Blue Mesa after 2 years since Pandemic Sept. 4. We both were very disappointed. It was not as good as it used to be and has gone up from $22. per person to $26 per person. Coffee was served cold at first. Had to wait for second cup. There wasn't as many items to choose from. very little desserts. Like most of the restaurants prices gone up and quality has gone down. We used to LOVE coming here. Where every visit went wonderfully and the food was always amazing. After 10+ years of that being the case, our visit today for my birthday was rough. We hadn't been here since Winter, so I'm not sure if the issues are due to a change in management or what. The good - 1. Chips, especially sweet potato chips, and salsas. 2. Enchiladas, salad with tequila vinaigrette, painted desert soup 3. Iced tea The bad - 1. Apparently we're putting sour cream in guacamole now? That was disgusting, surprising, and disappointing. We've always got the guac and said "yes we'd like everything!" And the everything has never included sour cream nor has it ended up so bland. 2. The service wasnt great. I shouldn't have to ask for the bill and a dessert after we've been there for an hour. 3. The tres flan at least USED to be three flavors of flan. Just went to lunch today at Blue Mesa at the Frisco location and was so disappointed with the food and service. I have been a loyal customer to Blue Mesa for 20 years and after today I will never return. It took almost 15 minutes before our server acknowledged us at the table. We ordered ice tea and queso and it took another 10 minutes before we received our drinks. The queso was luke warm at best. Then we had to wait another few minutes for the chips and salsa!! In the meantime, our lukewarm queso is getting cooler as we wait for the chips. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and they were okay. However, the rice and black beans were barely warm. I attended the Sunday brunch with 30 people for a birthday celebration. Our waiter Nick did an excellent job. He was very attentive and quick to respond to our needs. The food was great as well. There are many options to choose from during brunch. I decided against breakfast food baded on do many options. The brunch included many vegan and healthy options as well. Stopped in today for lunch and they had their Wednesday lunch buffet going on. It's not often you see a Mexican food buffet so we had to give it a try. I'm glad we did. The selection was nice , not extravagant, but nice. My only complaint was that the food was a little dry and not very hot. I did, in all fairness, arrive with only an hour left in the buffet. Two words...happy hour! What sets this happy hour apart from others? The free quesadilla bar, that includes meat (chicken) and veggies. They are custom made for you and they even give you jalepenos and sour cream. There are also self service chips and salsa. Now onto the drinks. They have a $4 menu that covers the gamut. There is something for everyone, from beer to margaritas, to sangría. Happy hour is from 4pm to 7:30pm and the times I have been there it has not been very crowded. You may have to wait a few minutes for a custom made quesadilla, but it is well worth it. The staff is friendly and this is good for groups as well. The happy hour is in the bar area only, but I have seen kids there. Parking is easy and this location is right off the freeway. No complaints here! read more

My review is specific to Blue Mesa's catering option! After a couple of locals recommended Blue Mesa, I have to admit I was still skeptical that the food would be tired old Tex-Mex fare. Brenda put together a great menu for our catered team event. The menu options did sound good.. but I figured they had a good copy writer and I was only hoping it would not be too typical for my event. When Blue Mesa catering brought our food out to a dinner cruise and it not only looked spectacular-- as it was laid out with various levels and colorful cloths -- it all was VERY appetizing, our mouths were drooling over the spread! Throughout the event the burners kept the food perfectly hot with out scorching it and it all tasted GREAT!! Blue Mesa had some yummy fiery smoked salsa varieties! Other Items that stood out were the black bean and roasted corn salad with cilantro and the house guacamole was incredible! The Blue corn and cheese enchiladas were also amazing, as well as the seasoning for the beef and chicken Skewers & the Fajitas were top quality, no weird gristle, it was all top notch! This was an awesome experience! Came with some work friends and had a blast with wonderful food. When we arrived I was a bit skeptical. The floor plan was crazy. To the left of the door were large rooms for private parties, in the middle was an empty bar with a huge empty area behind it (my friends said it was used for the weekend buffet which was empty on a Thursday noon). Then in the right corner were all the customers in the absolute loudest room I have encountered. We were going for 2 stars at that point. Something about jamming everyone together and the acoustics was losing it. The normal chips and dip came out and we started going up hill. It was a mix of sweet potato chips, normal tortilla and blue chips. The salsa was either chunky or smoky. They all worked great. I ordered the taco and enchilada lunch. I subbed the rice with the black bean adobe pie for a two sides of black beans. The taco was good but the soft tortilla seemed stale. I was wondering if it was going down hill. Then the enchilada with blue corn tortilla rocketed. The corn fritters, superb black beans and out of this world black bean adobe pie totally turned it around. Would I go again? Yes mam! Or Yes sir! Did it deserve 5 stars? The waitress was great, but the cacophony of noise (add some textiles to absorb the sound!) and the stale taco tortillas kept it down. I'll try it again next time I come to Plano and see if I can kick it up a notch. read more

The price includes mimosas, and poinsettias and or champagne. It's very popular, so by 11:15, it's crowded, and gets very noisy; lots of families. Hard to have a conversation. The food is good; not outstanding, but good. You should be able to find something you like. Service was attentive; they did a great job considering the number of people there. So, overall... it's OK. A lot of food for about $20 per person. If you don't mind the hassle of a buffet, then you should be OK with this place. read more
