Stopped here right after getting off the plane, and we were hungry! Which was perfect for the amazing homemade tortilla chips they bring out. I'm not even a big fan of sweet potatoes, but I liked the sweet potatos chips they brought out. The food was actually very very good. I like they have a spa menu with entrees under 400 calories. Went to order a drink, but half the stuff on their drink menu they were out of. So booo to that. Probably would have gotten a better rating if I could have found a drink that they were able to even make. read more

My review is specific to Blue Mesa's catering option! After a couple of locals recommended Blue Mesa, I have to admit I was still skeptical that the food would be tired old Tex-Mex fare. Brenda put together a great menu for our catered team event. The menu options did sound good.. but I figured they had a good copy writer and I was only hoping it would not be too typical for my event. When Blue Mesa catering brought our food out to a dinner cruise and it not only looked spectacular-- as it was laid out with various levels and colorful cloths -- it all was VERY appetizing, our mouths were drooling over the spread! Throughout the event the burners kept the food perfectly hot with out scorching it and it all tasted GREAT!! Blue Mesa had some yummy fiery smoked salsa varieties! Other Items that stood out were the black bean and roasted corn salad with cilantro and the house guacamole was incredible! The Blue corn and cheese enchiladas were also amazing, as well as the seasoning for the beef and chicken Skewers & the Fajitas were top quality, no weird gristle, it was all top notch! If I have to hold a event in Dallas again, I'd use this catering in a heartbeat (yep and again and again!) Yum! read more

This was an awesome experience! Came with some work friends and had a blast with wonderful food. When we arrived I was a bit skeptical. The floor plan was crazy. To the left of the door were large rooms for private parties, in the middle was an empty bar with a huge empty area behind it (my friends said it was used for the weekend buffet which was empty on a Thursday noon). Then in the right corner were all the customers in the absolute loudest room I have encountered. We were going for 2 stars at that point. Something about jamming everyone together and the acoustics was losing it. The normal chips and dip came out and we started going up hill. It was a mix of sweet potato chips, normal tortilla and blue chips. The salsa was either chunky or smoky. They all worked great. I ordered the taco and enchilada lunch. I subbed the rice with the black bean adobe pie for a two sides of black beans. The taco was good but the soft tortilla seemed stale. I was wondering if it was going down hill. Then the enchilada with blue corn tortilla rocketed. The corn fritters, superb black beans and out of this world black bean adobe pie totally turned it around. Would I go again? Yes mam! Or Yes sir! Did it deserve 5 stars? The waitress was great, but the cacophony of noise (add some textiles to absorb the sound!) and the stale taco tortillas kept it down. I'll try it again next time I come to Plano and see if I can kick it up a notch. read more

Overall, it felt less like an all you can eat experience and more like "a you should have gotten there an hour earlier experience." Perhaps my least favorite part of the evening was the relentless ringing of bellhop bells behind both the hot food and sushi counters. They clanged nonstop to summon servers, turning the entire dining experience into an 80s montage where the "Better Off Dead" paperboy keeps circling your table on his bike, dead-eyed, ringing his bell, demanding his two dollars. This is a very generous three stars, given with kindness and lowered expectations.

All 3 were perfect, and we were told by I presume the manager to focus on the passion fruit one, which was stellar. If I returned, I'd be interested in trying a fun drink. They have several non alcoholic options that caught my eye. We were very well waited on, and never were left wanting or waiting. The manager himself came around several times and chatted with us a bit. I wish the water glasses were larger so I wasn't pouring constantly, but that's a small gripe. Overall, we enjoyed it here and are already thinking of friends and family to bring next time!

I have been to this location four times this year and each time the food and experience gets worse. I was there a couple of weeks back and ordered the Chicken Fajitas for $20. I sat at the bar and that was my first mistake. The bartender was busy making drinks and basically ignored me the entire time. I went about fifteen minutes with my Coke glass empty--him repeatedly seeing it and passing by me without any action. I finally had to ask for a refill of a small glass of a $3.50 soft drink. Next, the chicken came out with a little seasoning sprinkled on top--which was bland in taste--and a small portion at that. I got a plate full of onions and one single strip of a bell pepper--One! The plate full of beans had cheese sprinkled on top that never melted because the beans and rice was not even lukewarm warm; not cold but not warm at all. I got a small chicken breast, four tiny tortillas, a pile of onions, one bell pepper strip and cold rice and beans for $20. The weekend brunch for $30 use to be all the rave in decades past but not anymore. A lot of the food was barely warm on the line when I tried it in the spring. In closing, I won't keep going back in hopes of different results. New ownership and management is desperately required and new cooks in the kitchn. read more

I recently visited Blue Mesa for a birthday brunch and, judging by the number of other birthday celebrants, it's a popular spot for special occasions. Unfortunately, despite having made a reservation, we still had to wait 45 minutes past our reserve time to be seated, and this was after arriving 15 minutes early. The seating situation was less than ideal, with the space feeling cramped, and overcrowded. If you're not a fan of big crowds, I would suggest going after 1 PM when it starts to clear out a bit. The brunch buffet offered a wide variety of options, but everything was just OK. The tacos, waffles, and prepared dishes were nothing to write home about. I did not try the omelette bar, which might have been a missed opportunity. The highlight of the meal was the flan; everything else was merely satisfactory. The mimosas came in a few flavors - orange, pineapple, and cranberry - but like the rest of the brunch, they were just OK. Service was decent but be aware that they automatically add gratuity around 18 to 20%. Despite Blue Mesa's reputation as one of the best brunch spots around, my experience was underwhelming.
