This place is full of people and they don't take reservation. We went there at 1:30pm on Wednesday and told the wait is about 40mins (they use yelp waiting system, and you can cancel it anytime), after all it's not so bad because we went to the beach nearby to kill time. We sat down and ordered mussels, chef selection Pasta with scallop and bacon, seafood chowder grill cheese for the kids, and blue mussel lager. Service is excellent, portion is great and lots of seafood considered the price is more expensive than others, but it is quite salty or rich maybe because they put a lot of spice together. 1 star is deducted from there. Steam mussel highly recommend, it's very fresh. View is gorgeous and I love deco inside the restaurant. read more

The crème de la crème of seafood from all the places I sampled during my maritime tour. This is a very cute restaurant about 30 minutes from the Anne of Green Gables museum most tourists visit during their PEI stay. My cousins and I split the seafood chowder poutine (my favorite of everything we had), 2 lobster rolls, and a half dozen oysters (the most underwhelming but is just the nature of oysters in general in my opinion). Everything was fresh, timely, and appropriately portioned. It was also a nice day and the patio seating added the touch of whimsy that made this meal memorable. read more

Fresh and oh so tasty seafood in an adorably decorated waterside restaurant. My group ordered oysters, seafood chowder poutine, the classic mussels, lobster roll, tuna, and halibut and we devoured everything. I love the focus on local ingredients. Every dish we ordered was seasoned simply but well so the seafood could really shine. Some of the nicest staff as well. Our lunch here was delightful--a bit pricey at $235 including one pint of cider and tip, but worth it for the quality of the food. read more

Four of us sat at the bar and enjoyed delicious dinners. The bartenders were helpful, patient, cheerful and energetic. We've eaten at the Blue Mussel several times, and always been very impressed with the food and service. read more

Received several unsolicited recommendations about this place when we mentioned travelling to PEI so it was the top of the must try list. Walk in or wait list only - put ourselves in wait list and got in less than 20 minutes so don't be deterred. Got raw oysters and mussels to start. Both were 4.5/5 stars. Had the pan fried haddock which was good, not great. Give it 4/5. Wife had the scallops which was good but a little overcooked to be honest. 4/5. Perhaps our expectations for "BMC" were too high. Would go back but don't think this is the best seafood restaurant in PEI as some suggest. Giving it 4/5 stars. The service was really good though and it was a good room with seaside vibe. read more

I can't say enough good things about this experience. From the greeting at the front to the dessert and coffee, everything was terrific. There is a camaraderie among the staff that was obvious. The food was well prepared and the portions were just right. We're big on sharing across the table so we get a taste of everything. The Rustico Bay oysters we delicious and the two sauces were a nice addition. The local mussels were in a perfect broth that begged for a soup spoon! We walked away tonight deeply disappointed in this restaurant's approach to seating and honesty with customers. - They do not accept reservations, only a waitlist. - Upon arrival, we were told the wait would be 30 minutes. That sounded reasonable. - We then watched as large groups came in and seemed to get priority. Smaller parties like ours were shuffled into separate queues and consistently delayed. - Locals who namedropped people already inside were promised the next available table, regardless of where they were in line. - A group that arrived late was immediately promised the next table after apologizing for missing their time. - After 45 minutes, we were told to expect another 30 minutes or more. We left. Minutes later, we received a message saying our table was ready. When we returned, people were people sitting there (at the table) ordering dessert. - Nearly 90 minutes later, while already driving away, we got a text that our table was "ready." The most frustrating part was the inconsistency. We repeatedly heard the hostess quote wait times of 30, 60, 90, even 120 minutes--back-to-back with no logic or buildup. Each explanation was blamed on "the system," but as someone who has co-owned and co-developed point-of-sale systems for hospitality, I can say with confidence that either their software is badly misconfigured or they are simply not being truthful. In contrast, we went to Chez Yvonne instead. It was far less pretentious, the staff were straightforward, and the service was prompt and friendly. I don't usually give 1-star reviews. The vast majority of mine are 5-star, some are 4-star, and only very rarely do I leave a one-star rating. Unfortunately, this experience earned it. The food may be good, but the disrespect shown to customers waiting outside is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this restaurant and am actively discouraging friends who plan to visit the area from wasting their time here. read more

We walked in on a Saturday night and got seated pretty quickly although they did ask we had a reservation or called to go on the waitlist, which we should have. We sat on on the deck which was a little chilly but they had a ladder full of blankets that we could use. Later as it did get colder they did turn on a couple of heat lamps. We started with the Caesar salad which was delicious. It had fried capers on it, bacon and was a good size. We shared it as an appetizer. We also got the seafood chowder that had more scallops in it than we have had in any of our other seafood chowder the last three nights. The taste and flavor were delicious. The biscuit was really tasty as well and the butter tasted delicious. We did have a long wait for our main course and our waitress did tell us that the kitchen was backed up. I think this was due to an order of halibut. As we saw other tables get their bowls of mussels. The muscles with lemon, garlic and rosemary were delicious. Skip the blueberry beer and lime mussels. The lime is cooked with the mussels and tasted bitter. The halibut was cooked medium and very tender and flaky. The potatoes and carrots that it was served on were tasty. We got a blueberry tart to go and it was very good as well. read more

Blue Mussel has been my favorite fir several years. Last time we went, we and our guests were horribly disappointed. The halibut was good, not the usual great. The roasted potatoes looked and tasted like they were prepared for lunch and held over for dinner. The vegetables were not much better. The waiter paid us no attention until he brought the bill and I told him my feelings. He was more attentive then, but it was too little too late. We were told there was a different chef. Not sure if it was a sub or a new chef, but we will not be rushing back. read more

There was a little wait involved re: shift change from lunch to dinner menu but we sat in the outdoor bar and had a cocktail while we waited. Very friendly there as well. We went here for the first time and it was such a great decision. They have a cute little waiting area for drinks and appetizers while you wait for your table. The food was delicious. I ordered the scallops and Alfredo. I got the mussels as an appetizer awesome taste! Will definitely be coming back next time on the island. read more
