Got 2 vege omelettes... it was more of an egg wrap where the veges were all loose inside which made it hard to eat because everything (red bell pepper, white onion and canned mushrooms) fell off your fork... potatoes looked good but tasted like nothing, no seasoning. Wheat toast were basic and small. The jelly on the table looked good but had hard chewy berries in it. $7 was a good price but there are other places in town with better food for the same price. read more

Quaint little place just outside of CDA. Got there just before 11:00 and the waitress told us they were about to stop serving breakfast. So we ordered quickly and I am glad we did. I got the biscuits and gravy with sausage links. Great pick. The B&G were pretty good, and the sausage was Great. Wife just got the fried potatoes and they were fantastic. Once again, found another five star in town! The word that comes to mind is simple, simple, simple. Simple menu, simple concept, and most importantly, simple schedule, unlike the ugly G______ Cafe which is now struggling because of my scathing review. And the prices are unheard of, not typical of this tourist town! Restaurant was over half full, and our breakfast came within 5 minutes of ordering, exactly as ordered. Fast food is not even that quick! Nothing frilly or exotic, what you would expect if you asked a local where they eat, pre- Yelp era. Side note, they had the presence of mind to wave down my hearing impaired wife who was searching for the bathroom, exactly what it's called for from the deaf community. My brother and I LOVE this place for breakfast. The only thing I have to warn about is that you WILL leave smelling like breakfast food grease.. not sure if the ventilation is not working or what but the smell sticks to you heavily, in your hair, on your clothes haha. Good thing this place came up on my gps as I was traveling thru northbound. Parked the rv on the street the parking lot was pretty full. When in and ordered a Denver omelette with sourdough bread. Had it in no time. Took it out to the rig and dove in. Delicious omelette and crunchy potatoes. Could only eat 1/2 so the other was for lunch once I arrived at my campsite on the lake. I love this place. I almost hate to write a review because I don't want them to get any busier. They do get busy, but the turnover is pretty quick. Even with 5 parties waiting in front of us, I don't think we've ever waited more than 15 minutes. My Dad, my brother, my son, and I hit up Blue Plate almost every weekend. It's our Saturday morning tradition. The staff is fantastic, they know our orders by heart and call us by name. The food is really good and their prices are reasonable. I recommend my standby, Big Blue- eggs scrambled, potatoes well done, sourdough toast. I get this every week. It's rare that I can't finish a plate, but I take some to go every time we eat here. Hubby and I were looking for a good breakfast and were not disappointed. The chicken fried steak was fork tender and the gravy was amazing. My Denver scramble was full of ham and other goodies. Okay, love this place. Kim and crew do a fantastic job. Generous portions, friendly family atmosphere. Be ready, if you come on a weekend they are always busy! That's because it is so good. Haven't had a bad thing on the menu yet. They are Detroit Redwing friendly...the only drawback if you love hockey! :) With regards to the negative reviews read between the lines. Many negative reviewers have relatively few reviews at all. They are the types that only leave a review when they have a poor experience. They rarely take time to send a compliment. I too am fairly new to the area and we as a family come here often BECAUSE of the personal attention and good customer service. I seriously doubt menus were "thrown at people". It's not in their nature. I can say they are ALWAYS BUSY (because it's that good). So can staff get a little edgy? Sure, be realistic. So read between the lines, not a perfect place but none are! So we are New and off to check out Farragut state park. But we were hungry. So we checked yelp and found this place had high reviews and was on the way. Don't let the drive in off the 95 detour you. It's a nice cute building just beyond the highway off of government way. Parking lot has some cars (they were closing soon). We go inside and are greeted by wonderful staff. We pick our own table, and are promptly given waters. I ordered the sluggo chicken sandwich. Amazing juicy chicken, fresh avocado, and the bacon was perfectly crisp. It's served on house made buns, as are all of their burgers and sandwiches, and was amazing. My wife ordered the sloppy joe special for 5.50 home made sloppy joe, absolute heaven on a bun. I ate more of hers than she did :) We will absolutely come back and try this place for breakfast and will come back often for lunch. read more

But once your in- is super cool and stands out from the others by adding homemade jams on the tables, salt & pepper shakers are just like Grandma had, they bring your own flavored creamer for your coffee and have homemade desserts. I have eaten breakfast here half a dozen times and a couple of the times the breakfast was great and at other times it was decent and appeared to be thrown together. From what my friends said, the chicken friend steak and the blue plate special were consistently delicious. Overall I would give the food 3ish stars. Service could be hit or miss as well, on occasion my coffee never made it to the last drop for fill but other times it would sit empty. The group I eat breakfast with are big ice tea drinkers (obnoxiously so) and after years of serving I know that can be annoying to a server. The tea refills started to come more and more infrequent and a couple times we were told they had ran out but they were still serving it to other tables. This was their way of hinting that we had over stayed out welcome and drank too much tea. This cracks me up a bit because the cost to make 5 gallons is less than the profit they make off selling a glass of tea. Eventually the staff stopped beating around the bush and pretty much told us we were no longer welcome... The truth of it is, they gave us stipulations and told us we could dine there certain days and at certain times. I know that it can be a bit much for one table to be consumed for a long period of time by the same party but most of these guys are over 60 and veterans. These men fought for our country over and over again and instead of being treated with respect they are asked to leave. Writing this makes me angry for them all over again. I know that as a business you want a high turnover rate and as a server you want the same because it means more money. However, one should pick their battles and realize that respect and patience is of better virtue than being money hungry. read more

I travel to Hayden fairly regularly for work and this has become one of my go to places to eat breakfast. If I am in town for the week I usually manage to stop in here once or twice. The food is your usual 'Greasy Spoon' diner fare but way better. Last time I was here they had gingerbread pancakes for the morning special..and the win. Portions are healthy and will fill you up without being wasteful. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient. Definitely worth stopping in for a try. read more
