This is my go to place for bagel sandwiches downtown, mostly due to the convenient location. Pros: -They have amazing veggie cream cheese. -The prices are reasonable. -They have a lot of different choices for bagel sandwiches, both breakfast and otherwise. -There is outside seating in warm weather. -There can be long lines, but they generally process through them quickly. Cons: -The parking area is difficult to maneuver in. Park on the street if you can. -The bagels in Winco's bread/bakery bins are actually better (seriously, check them out.) Winco has huge yummy bagels that toast up to perfection-slightly chewy inside with a nice crust. Blue Sky's bagels are smaller, stiff, dense, and pretty bland. -Sometimes they put completely unripe and downright flavorless tomatoes on my bagel sandwiches. -They don't have sausage (nope, only bacon...) so they don't offer the quintessential sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast bagel. -The young people who work the counter are sometimes on the clueless and rude side. read more

Sad day for Soup lovers.... they have changed to a weird new brand and the last three soups I have tried were basically not edible the "corn chowder" was almost electric in color and seemed like an egg drop soup consistency it was gross and tasted like a warm can of old corn... The chicken tortilla I got today is almost the same color and consistency as queso dip and has no chicken or tortilla or anything you would expect in a chicken tortilla soup. Love coming to this place for breakfast the prices aren't too bad at all and it's pretty feeling the same witches pretty large depending on what you put on it. Bagel was subpar not really toasted and the lack of schemer... was disappointing. The atmosphere here was late 90s movie meets we don't care enough about our customers to revamp our restaurant. Greasy, dusty, and the ceiling tiles... don't look up. There were streaks on the walls from moisture/grease running toward artwork for sale on the walls. I think my favorite is their Asiago bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It is fairly cheap for a bagel and cream cheese which is nice too. Man...I've been coming here for YEARS and loved it...haven't been here that much in the last few years...so was looking forward to eating here since they messed my order up last time I was there. Three of us ordered-it was the typical 5 or 6 groups waiting in line Sunday afternoon...not super busy-the order taker was friendly. I ordered a veggie bagel with cream cheese. The girls with me got turkey bagels. I waited for quite a while to pay-only one on the register and they were also doing coffee drinks. Finally got the bagel sandwiches and went to sit down...THREE turkey's...no veggie. I took the wrong one back up to the register, but the person was so busy and behind. I stood there for 10 minutes and no one even acknowledged me. I just left...hungry. This is the second time my order was incorrect in as many times as I've been there in the recent past. This was my favorite bagel place but I may have to forgo this place. 1 week ago I got a bagel and the plain cream cheese had a tangy taste. So I called and explained it and they said the next one was on them. So I went in yesterday and they explained there cream cheese they get had been changed and they had me try still tangy taste not normal flavor of cream cheese so I tried another flavor still the same tangy taste but not as much but still was not great. Growing up near New York, I'm kind of a bagel snob. We have limited options in DC so I was intrigued to try a local bagel spot in Boise while traveling for work. Blue Sky did not disappoint. Good chewiness to the bagels and lots of flavor options on both the bagels and cream cheese. I opted for a sesame bagel with sundried tomato cream cheese, bacon, and tomato (needed a vegetable, am I right??). It was very tasty! To my mind, Blue Sky has THE BEST bagels in Boise. That being said, here's a reivew of my recent visit to the downtown location. I think it's terrible that the parking lot next to the restaurant does not belong to the restaurant, and that not even a FEW spaces are open for restaurant guests. Parking in downtown Boise isn't always the greatest, and having to plug a meter if you want to sit down for lunch is a drag. However, the free 20 minutes on the meter was enough for us, even having to stand in line during the noon hour to get our to go order. BLUE SKY.. I miss the SALT bagels! Please bring them back. The sandwich ordering process went well for us and by the time we got to the cashier our order was ready. The cashier forgot to give us one of the cookies we asked for, but he didn't charge us for it so it was all good. I had a garlic bagel (I only breathe on my computer screen at work, so no worries about bad breath!) with roast beef, tomato, onion, cucumber, swiss cheese, mayo and mustard. The bagel was of fabulous texture, and the toppings were fresh, the amount applied perfect, and the dill pickle spear a wonderful compliment to the tender roast beef. I came here at 9 am on a Sunday morning. The place was empty but staff was busy putting together to-go orders. My wait was minimal though. Less than 5 min. I've been in here when there is long lines so it was nice to beat the crowds. I ordered an everything bagel toasted, with jalapeño cream cheese. The cream cheese was delicious and I love the amount they put on it, as I do not like mountains of cream cheese. Still there was plenty. The perfect amount imo. The everything bagel though, is pretty salty. I like salt but this was a bit much. I wouldn't get it next time because of this reason. Service was good but the young man who handed me my bagel at the end could have been friendlier. I thanked him and he said nothing. Watch out they'll give away your order! The food is good and prices are reasonable, but customer service is lacking. Today we completed the order process without issues, but were only handed one of our bagels. I waited more than five minutes until one of the workers looked at me and then looked at another customer and the order they had. This worker went and talked to another worker (manager?) and glanced back at me still standing waiting for my order. Both just went back to serving other customers. A few minutes passed and I realized they were not going to address the issue. So I informed the manager-like worker that I had not received my order, she immediately named my order and made a new one. She handed it to me, no explanation, no apology. Crappy service. Update 02/19/2019: Blue Sky ownership reached out and apologized. They explained their plans to address this issue and I appreciated how responsive they were. This response alone has convinced me to increase my rating to 4-Stars. read more

It's a gorgeous summer Sunday morning in Boise and I needed coffee and a bagel. So I Yelped bagels and found Blue Sky Bagels. It's in or near Old Boise. A large, sunny, modern room filled with healthy-looking people of all ages. I ordered and received a bagel and it released steam when the nice woman cut into it! She added a shmear of cream cheese. I filled my own cup of super heated Dawson Taylor coffee and sat down. The bagel was perfect and the coffee was as very good. I recommend BSB without reservations. It's not cozy and parking could be a problem, but I have rarely had a bagel - or a cup of coffee as good. read more

This review comes from someone that has always been against eating bagels, I guess I've never found a place that made bagels that met my expectations. I'm super demanding when it comes to bakeries as mass produced products always taste exactly the same. It wasn't until I tried this place that I became a firm believer and a true sucker for their products. The Poppyseed, Asiago Cheese, Blueberry and Cinnamon bagels are by far my favorites on the menu. If this options don't appeal to you, trust me, there are plenty more to choose from for every taste bud. Their cream cheese options are to die for, my favorites are the Berries, Veggie Mix, Bacon Scallion and Sun-dried tomato. Make sure you try them all, you won't be disappointed at all. The downtown location is super cozy, and with a sort of bohemian vibe which I really love. It's inviting, friendly and with a coffee shop ambiance and feeling.
