The food was as bad as the service. The lobster bisque came out luke warm and contained no lobster. The bread bowl was a sad oversized hamburger bun. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy which he would not recommend. The server never gave me the water I had asked for. I would go spend your money elsewhere. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat by myself. Simple order of just bacon and potatoes--expensive as the two items ended up costing $15-but I expect to pay more as it is a touristy place. Food was good enough, service was lackluster. Didn't get a refill on the water--asked if I wanted change for my $20 bill...yes, yes I do. Brought back a five instead of ones--clearly I didn't want to give a $5 tip on a $15 meal as I said I wanted my change. Decision to give eh five dollar bill cut into the tip as I only had two ones with me. Oh well--maybe if you had come back to see if I wanted water (not hard as I was right by the kitchen and you passed by three times) I would have asked for change for the five. We loved our lunch!!! The food was so flavorful, we both loved it. I got the Chipotle Free Range Chicken... a wonderful sandwich on sourdough bread with chicken, provolone, avocado with chipotle h honey mustard dressing. My husband had the blue sky burger. We had a yummy lunch. The big surprise was the view. You can see Morro Rock. You can hear the seals and see them once in a while ( if you are lucky ) We were so surprised to see an otter in the water in front of the tables. read more

The food was quite good; however, 2 sandwiches, a shrimp cocktail and 3 cups of soup was almost $100 with tip and that was with no drinks. Way too pricey for a bistro. Guess you are paying for the view. I was also disappointed that they had no gluten free pasta or bread options. Although, I made it work for a sandwich with corn tortillas. We came here for our second visit to get the clams and mahi mahi again. Very delicious. We were not disappointed. Service was friendly and enthusiastic. Worst service ever! They were so disorganized! We ordered 2 meals and they only brought one! How do you do that with two people sitting there?! And it wasn't just our table... everyone around us was having problems with getting their drinks and someone to take their order! This place has gone downhill since we came 2 years ago. The food is good but the place is dirty. None of the cooks were wearing masks properly. They were in the kitchen munching and cooking customers food. It was pretty gross. I know they changed ownership and wonder if this is the reason for the place falling apart. Def not coming back. Five stars for service! I'm giving five stars mostly do to the nice, hard working young man who waited on us tonight. My husband and I wandered in and explained we were just looking for a beer and a snack. The waiter couldn't have been more welcoming. He was the only one serving and we observed that he didn't slow down once. He was polite and friendly to every passerby, making me once again appreciate living in this wonderful community.They have seating right next to the water, and though we sat inside, the sunset view was still beautiful. This is a nice lil place on the embarcadero to have lunch with an amazing view of the rock. The atmosphere is quaint the staff is friendly yet professional. I ordered the mahi sandwich with the lobster bisque the combination complimented each other. The bisque was creamy and had chucks of bread in it, nice compliment. the mahi sandwich had a generous portion with lettuce, tomatoe, onions and tartar sauce. The restaurant and tables were clean it all looked well maintained. They have out door seating for a beauty day. I'll return to have other items on their menu. read more

I dislike writing bad reviews, and rarely do so, but my meal was awful. Fish tacos, large fried, dried out, overcooked, tasteless mahi, tasteless beans, salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. No cabbage, white sauce, no flavor at all. So disappointing. We were going to go to the Dutchman, and at the last minute decided to try something new. Bad decision. I just want to share this is the worst customer service I've experienced at Morro. I came in with my family and I had brought in food for my son since he has a lot of food allergies. Walking out the waitress raised her voice at me saying I can't bring in food from other restaurants. But meanwhile I was eating no one had a problem. There's no fryer and no liquor license. I asked for some accommodations on my burger and the waitress just decided to bring it plain so I had to ask for everything she missed (mayo, lettuce, and EVEN CHEESE). Came across this restaurant. We thought maybe the wait would be long being a Sunday morning. To our surprise we were seating right away. This past Sunday my family chose to eat here for a late lunch/early dinner. It was our first time to eat here and we visit Morro Bay regularly. My husband and daughter chose hamburgers with potatoes and I chose their grilled cheese and potatoes. We all loved our food and were very impressed. The grilled cheese, despite it being on the Kid's menu, was quite literally the best I've ever had. I consider myself a connoisseur of grilled cheeses. Always choose it from restaurants when they are on the menu. But in the past I've ordered from other restaurants "gourmet grilled cheeses" from the main menu and this grilled cheese for KIDS blew all of them out the water. It was served on a garlic sourdough bread, it was a little greasy, sure, but that's how you know they used real cheese, literally the best I've ever had. Amazing flavor, and my family said they felt similarly about the cheeseburgers. The ambiance was great, of course, it's on the water!! Great service too! All in all we would recommend and will visit again when we come back on vacation again. read more

Was close to my hotel, and one of the places serving breakfast. I live the atmosphere. I took a table right on the walkway...in front of me were several boats tied up at the harbor, with the Motto "Rock" right in front of me. They had a menu item called "The Rock"...I thought "why not" and gave it a try. Ahhhhh...sitting in the edge of the ocean, enjoying a steaming cup of coffee with a bacon and egg break feast dish piled high...so relaxing!! Definitely will return!! read more

We've been coming here for years and love to sit and have a beer, often food. Have had many great breakfasts here. I checked my phone for happy hour and saw that yes, they had one at 3 p.m. We drove over, walked to the back and sat at an outside table. There was one other person sitting outside, thus 95% empty tables, my husband stepped away to the bathroom. Waiter comes over with a menu and I say "has happy hour started?" "We don't have a happy hour". I'm disappointed and said I'd seen something and it must have been old. "Yeah, don't believe everything you see on the internet". We got up to leave and I said "please ask the boss to reinstate it since we can't afford it otherwise". He then rudely said "we have a sign you know that says please wait to be seated!" While spending the weekend in Morro Bay we enjoyed both a breakfast and a dinner at the Blue Sky Bistro. The waterfront location across from Morro Rock is perfect as you can watch the otters, the kayakers and paddle boarders make their way around and past you in the bay. Both the breakfast menu and the dinner menu offer a great selection and everyone in our family enjoyed their meals. Being that they have an extensive patio they were a popular eatery. Though they were very busy, the staff was energetic and positive. Their food was served quickly and we really enjoyed the experiences. Fun fact: Blue Sky Bistro's official name is: Blue Sky Bistro "On the Bay". I'm not sure why 'on the bay' is in quotations, since it's sitting square by the water, but it gave me the same vibes of seeing "crab" in quotations on a menu. We went to Blue Sky for lunch on Sunday, and were able to get seats by the water immediately, with a great view of the rock and the bay. We ordered the lobster bisque and spicy John montage (spice lovers, it's not spicy at all). The lobster bisque was good, but the bread bowl was much more bread than soup -- it held only slightly more than a cupful of actual bisque. Meanwhile, the sandwich was, well, a sandwich -- nothing too special or standout about it. Tldr: three star food, but would give four for the fantastic bay location. You'd probably be better off going to another location "on the bay" for a meal. read more

This was our first visit to the bistro and we selected it because it was dog friendly and also had very good reviews. It was super windy that day so we chose to eat inside but they do have a protected plexiglass dining area which was very nice as well as an open air area. It is in a spectacular location looking out it Morro rock with all of The fishing boats and yachts in the foreground. Perfect for pictures! We selected a variety of dishes and everyone really loved everything. They had numerous handles of local beers and our favorite was the marbled hot pastrami sandwich. My niece really loved her enchiladas and my sister also enjoyed her chimichanga. We started with a clam in white wine sauce with some yummy garlic bread, I highly recommend that if you enjoy that dish elsewhere. I also appreciated that the dish was served hot. Can't claim that about every place these days. The service was super friendly and we will definitely return. Why not five stars? I wish the Cole slaw had some zip-or something with more flavor, it was just okay. On the clam dish, they also sprinkled it with fresh tomatoes so it looked great but tiny tweak to not put them in cold, Again I'm picky about temperature and didn't like cold tomatoes with the warmth of the warm clam dish. I know tomatoes can fade but it would have been great if they were simply room temperature. 4 stars well deserved as it overall was very good!! read more

Great breakfast place. Terrific service and all of our ordered items were hot and fresh. I had a ham and cheese omelet that was outstanding and my wife's two egg breakfast with poached eggs was perfect. We ate outside with our well behaved English Cocker at our feet who layed down at my feet. Extra point for dog friendly. Morro Bay has my business- dog friendly lodging and restaurants. Great place.
