My first visit here was made special by Angela, my waitress. Even though I was a party of one, she gave excellent service by visiting my table several times! I complimented her to the manager. I had the chicken fried steak with gravy, which was very tasty. I had mashed potatoes and cole slaw as my sides. I had a choice of banana bread or regular bread. I chose the banana bread and saved it for breakfast the next day. The best thing was the price! They emailed me a coupon. It was $6.35 for all that food! Terrible service as I sat at the counter expecting to be able to get a breakfast in a reasonable time. The staff had more focus on their agenda than helping a customer. I've eaten there before and the service is starting to falter. Not going back I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Plenty of others near by. read more

The servers are always very helpful. It's one of are favorite places to eat. Food is great. I like the baked fillet of sole.

I am a die hard Bob Evans fan, I love their breakfast food, and I am a sucker for comfort food, and frankly the food is usually quite good. Also you can now get Mimosa's there for breakfast too which is a plus. This particular location has some issues. I have been going to this location for the past 3 years as it is only about a mile from my home. Most of the time the servers are very friendly and efficient, although currently they have a young lady working as a hostess/cashier who has absolutely no personality, she doesn't talk, she doesn't smile, and the manager really should be coaching her. I have had some very good experiences here and some very bad experiences here. I contacted the corporate office after one very bad experience a few years ago, and they never followed up, even though they said they said would be contacting me, so I stayed away for a while but like I said I am a die hard fan. It's not gourmet food, but it's pretty good satisfying comfort food. I usually get the feeling that the management there is sub-par due to some of the staff performance/behavior, cleanliness issues, and poor customer service. I highly recommend the turkey and dressing dinner as well as the pot roast and pot roast sandwich. read more

Wow. Can't believe I've never experienced the wonders of Bob Evans before. Of course, I've heard the name many times, but had never stepped foot into this famous chain. Although this was a great breakfast experience for me and the BF overall, I have to add - this place is why Americans are F-A-T! Very meat heavy menu (aside from all the pancake & waffle goodness, which I can no longer have :(), but I went with eggs and hash browns. Lots of oh-so-fattening and tempting, delicious-sounding menu items...and the portions. Good lord. Our waiter was SOOOOO freaking nice, like, amazingly nice. How rare! He was also a fabulous upseller, asking us if we wanted onions, cheese, etc. with our eggs & hash browns. Of course, we did. :) Everything was very yummy. The BF enjoyed his as well, and he ordered a blueberry crepe on the side that I had a baby bite of. Delicious. So, while this place is super unhealthy chain food - I dug it, and would go back if in the mood for a hearty breakfast and a little indulgence. read more

I don't often write about "chain-stores", but this is one exception. We're what you might call "weekend-regulars", which is not an easy accomplishment in my book. As with all places, you'll run into 'on' days and 'off' days, but this one in particular is pretty consistently 'on'. Management and staff will go out of their way to ensure that you're happy with your service and the food you order. If there is ever a problem, it gets fixed in a timely manner. There's a reason they won the 'best B.E. franchise store' award. As has been said, the food is 'common fare' Americana, but there are some really good finds - and it can be very tasty. You can substitute almost anything for a like thing (pancake for a muffin, etc.) There are a few items that are for the calorie conscious, including yogurt and egg beaters, etc. Remember, ultimately it's YOU who chooses the item you're going to eat!!! Ask your server for a recommendation if you're looking for something specific. Saturday and Sunday mornings are typically busy, so plan on a 10-15-20 minute wait to be seated. Turnover is pretty brisk, so it's really not that long. If I have any complaints, it's sometimes with the other patrons - yes, you, your friends and your family (I'm included in this too). Remember, this is a service industry and they're people too. Treat them with respect and you'll get it returned in kind. As with ANY restaurant, plan on a reasonable tip for your food and service. (HINT: 5% in NOT reasonable for good service.. it's 15% nowadays.) And I'm happy to do so. If it's not good service, then politely tell either the server OR the management - that's what they are there for! read more

DISCUSTING! I ordered a hamburger and it is obviousely frozen and then thawed to which leaves a sour taste when cooked. I sent it back and decided to order something that I knew would be fresh, breakfast! WRONG AGAIN! I ordered soft scrambled eggs and they were cooked on a very hot flat top in seconds. The hash browns were hash whites, however they got the sausage and toast right! While I would rate their colonial dressing, Chef's salad and navy bean soup with a 4-5 star rating, I would caution anyone about ordering their hot foods. Maybe it was a bad day for Jose the line cook and will give the restaurant another chance to redeem them-selves. read more

Usually love Bob Evans, and who wouldn't? So many possibilities. But as far as my last experience goes, I don't plan on going back anytime. The waitress seemed like she was there just because she had to be. She wasn't friendly at all and it somewhat ruined the meal. She also messed up my meal and forgot parts. And I was with my sister and mother. As for my sister's meal, she ordered steak and it looked very weird and was not cooked how she asked. read more

horrible experience overall. while waiting outside for our table to be ready there was a giant dead rat behind their lounge chair, I notified management and they seemed to brush it off as not a big deal. when we finally got to our table we placed our order right way it took a hour and a half for us to question where our food was and we found out that our order was just placed 13 min before we asked over all we spent 2 hours there and didn't eat anything with no explanation from manager. Used to be great, now it really sucks. Lots of corners being cut. Obviously corporate influences. When a breakfast restaurant makes you ask for jelly it tells you something. Servers hours obviously cut too. Too many tables in a section makes for poor service. Food used to be very good with a great variety, now mediocre with some of the favorites missing. HORRIBLE restaurant. If you sit close to the kitchen, you will see the managers Jeff and Paul sit back talking and laughing, as they belittle their employees. The waitresses and waiters are horrible. They will make you sit at your table for 10+ minutes before even taking your drink order. I was like seriously? The food is disgusting. If you attempt to send something back, you will have to break up the gossipy waitress's conversations, and they will be visibly annoyed. I asked to speak with one of the managers (Paul) and he acted like an immature 5 year old and kept making annoyed faces and loud sighs. No wonder he has the prestigious title of a Bob Evan's manager :) I know at least 5 families who have had the same awful experience at this Sarasota "restaurant". Wife and I ate there with our three boys. Not a good experience. Sent back creamer twice due to something floating in it. Settled for sealed half n half. Fruit plate for kids was not fresh. Spoiled grapes, brown mushy apples, and the banana was soft, mushy, and brown. Complained to manager and she didn't even offer to take anything off the bill. Cashier gave us a coupon and apologized. You can tell I corporate company has taken over. Have to wait to get a second cup of coffee. No jams or jelly on the tables, you have to ask for it. The food was as expected, not bad. The service was less. our table was ignored, then held prisoner for the bill. I really dislike when any restaurant does this. They never checked back with us, refilled our water, and then made us wait...and wait some more. I live close by, and eat at restaurants frequently for breakfast and lunch when I am commuting between appointments. Bob Evans just made it to the bottom of my list of places to stop. I found a dead fruit fly inside my chicken pot pie. I picked it out and examined it to make sure it was a bug before I said something to the waitress. After I told her about the fly I pointed to it and she said oh is that a bug? Il take care of it. She walks away and comes back with the check and says just bring it up to the register. She took the pot pie off the bill but nobody apologized or anything. If I were a waitress I'd be embarrassed. I'm not saying it's her fault but it really seemed to me like they didn't care about the bug in my meal. It really ruined bob evans for me. read more
