Drove by this drive through boba place so many times and I finally decided to give it a try. There were 5-6 cars ahead of us. After waiting for 5 minutes we decided to just park and order by the window. I ordered Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea, 50% less sweet and less ice. I find 50% less sweet is still very sweet for my liking. Milk tea is just average and as for the boba didn't pass my liking test. Some of the boba is harder and some softer. The girl did tell me if I dont like my boba I can always change it. warning: you will be waiting in a long line for mediocre boba! There is always a line here, so normally I would park my car and order in person to skip the wait (they use to have this option). However they got rid of the ability to order in person completely around 2 months ago so now it's exclusively a drive through. I didn't know about this, so I went recently when I was craving popcorn, chicken and Boba, so I went here, and after waiting in the drive-through line for about 20 minutes, I finally get to the ordering window only to be told that popcorn chicken will take an additional 25 minutes How insane. So I had to go somewhere and couldn't wait for popcorn chicken but in total I would've waited almost 1 hour if I did get that. There's so many other better boba spots + popcorn chicken around. They forgot our order and we ended up waiting 45 minutes until we said something, but the drinks were so good I'm still willing to come back lol. I tried their jasmine green tea 75% sweetness and their strawberry mango fruit tea 75% sweetness with brown sugar boba. I love their milk teas but WOW it is NOT an express drive through. I've been here 4 times and each time I've waited for 15+ min, even when it was a Wednesday at 2pm. This last time, I had 4 cars in front and it took over 30min before I got to the window to get my one drink. Heading south on Baldwin late one night, we saw what appeared to be a car accident just south of Naomi. Traffic was backed up, and a paramedic was up in front of all the cars, damn near lined up all the way to the light. As I quickly got over to the left to turn out of it, I realized the flashing lights were a little further down the street at the old folks home; and the traffic snarl was no fewer than 30 cars stopped in the right lane to access... an oil change place-turned-Boba-joint??? Yes friends, the novelty of tapioca tea drinks served to you in your car for the price of fast food meal seemed to be quite the attraction. I had my first "boba nai cha" about 20 years ago, when I got a job working at a community bank largely serving the Chinese American community... one that bridged East & West, as it were. While working there, my coworkers loved taking me to all sorts of awesome Asian restaurants, dessert/crepe places, shaved ice joints, and of course-- establishments that insisted on serving drinks with semi-solid things in them like boba and grass jelly and lychee and ... you get the idea. So while I'm old and cynical enough to be put off by inconsiderate drivers causing traffic nuisances, I suppose I was intrigued why anyone would wait in a line that looked more like a Friday night In N Out queue. I resigned myself to give it a shot... when it was less busy. Many months later (days beget weeks beget months in my life) I was flying home from work on a long Tuesday, my homeward travel on south Baldwin proving adventitious with regard to my timing. Indeed, nary a Prius nor a slammed four banger bearing a glued on spoiler was in line at this Boba place, and I damn near two-wheeled my turn at the last minute. Pulled right up and was not shocked to see 17,458 different choices and combinations. I stuck with my tried and true black milk tea with boba, easy on the ice, Robert Peary (look it up.) Within moments, I was navigating the turn out of the place, the mildly expensive (for a drink) milk tea balanced between my legs on the truck seat, the oversized boba straw rolling around on the center console, dangerously close to falling down in the crack between the car seats, never to be seen again and rendering my drink utterly worthless. Autobahn-speeds on Baldwin gave me pause to put in my straw and take a long draught... warm... oh yeah, shake it next time, dummy. It'd been a while, I guess. And it was a great drink: good tea flavor peeking through the semi-sweet milk, and a nice chew to the tapioca balls that were cooked through with just that perfect little sweetness. I had to finish it quickly-- you can't walk into a house of three kids with a half empty boba cup and not get harassed... but I enjoyed it a lot. Not quite "wait in line idling for 25 minutes" good... but good. Maybe some lazy, sittin-in-traffic day in the future, I'll head back here and block safe exit from the CVS parking lot... maybe bring the kids as a surprise. But since I don't tend to have many of those moments these days, I'll just have to wait for that next perfect-timing moment for my next sweet, albeit sneaky, boba treat. read more

I would say this is your average, quick-service boba shop that probably uses powdered everything, which isn't a bad thing necessarily! This reminds me of your typical "TapEx" quality milk teas, which is something I crave once in a while. So no hate here! If you want your basic milk teas with nothing fancy added on, this may be your place. I got an almond milk tea and it was pretty good. What an epic disaster, 30 minutes later and 17 dollars less for 2 incorrect drinks. My local boba spot. Good drinks for sure but I'll just say my favorite boba places are boba guys in La and bofo mofo in sgv , but this place is good also just not my fave, the hokkaido drinks are good, but what I like here is their popcorn chicken and fries lol. The service is nice, if you don't like your drink they will remake it for you, I always get 25% sweetness because I'm sweet already but I've tried their higher levels of sweetness and I have friends who like it . The wall paintings are aesthetically pleasing . It's cool also because sometimes you see some nice cars parked. I bring my car out here sometimes. Seems to usually have some car enthusiast. Only thing is sometimes the drive thru which is cool they even have one but it just adds traffic on Baldwin ave and since I live in Arcadia sometimes it does block a lane which can be in inconvenience. I had good experience the first two times as the drink was 50% less sugar. Today was different. I forgot to ask 50% less sugar at the window. As I came around the window,l (about 2 minutes later) I apologized and immediately asked to make my drink 50% less sugar. I was told the drink was made 50% less sugar but it tastes very sweet. I don't think I understand this place at all. It seems to be extremely popular but I'm just wondering at what cost. I see all these pictures on yelp that there's an option to walk in here but I did not see that when I went; it's strictly drive thru, and you wait for like 30 mins minimum haha no joke. Even if you're not going here there's a line that spans out onto the street that causes traffic problems on Baldwin haha it's kinda lame. The funniest part is they have a huge ass parking lot in the back that would probably be way more conducive to use and not have like 10+ cars jammed up in a little spot waiting for boba. That's the other thing that confuses me. I'm like waiting in line for 30 mins and I'm like, man it's going to be so good, and don't get me wrong it's good, but not so good I would go back and sit in line for half an hour. Especially since you get the boba and by time you reach your home that's like a couple blocks away you're done with your boba. So now I waited in line for 30mins to get a boba drink that I finish in like less than 5 mins, seems worth it to me man, I'll be here every day! Haha get real. Also the dipping sauce they give with the chicken is kinda sweet? It literally tastes like vanilla frosting on a cake...Idk how I feel about that. Also the popcorn chicken is spicy, and I had no idea it was spicy, so when they asked for spice level I couldn't hear them over the noise of my car and all the other cars and the street behind me full of cars so I assumed they were asking what size popcorn chicken I wanted so I said "small". I think this place would probably be bomb if you could just park, run in, wait in a normal human line, take your time looking at the menu, talk to someone at a counter, ask questions if you need to, not yell over car engines, and get out of there, like a normal boba place. After years of driving by seeing lines onto the street & constantly saying "wow how cool a drive thru boba place", I finally went. We got here during a super empty/slow time so that alone made me happy. We pulled up and scanned the menu. I got something messy, it was like boba & pudding. My husband got something with almond milk I think. Once you order & pay, they have you move up to the next window and from here - is where I understand the busy part. It took them quite some time to make our drinks & I mean, as a drive-thru, I thought it would've been quicker. The drinks were delicious nonetheless though.
