Our group of friends came to this location because it was open late. They have ample seating inside and there is even a public parking lot about one block away. Why the low stars? Many of us ordered jasmine milk tea with less sugar - but it was lacking on tea and heavy on the sugar. Someone from our group asked to have their tea re-made with no sugar and it was still very sweet. Definitely a three star, if not 2.5-ish star place. Stopped in on my family's last night in LA before they flew out and eh, we weren't really blown away or disgusted. They've got a decent sized shop with a bit of seating and an ample menu full of options. Price wise it's okay, nothing ridiculously high or low in my honest opinion. But I also don't remember how much we paid exactly, it was under ten bucks. They use powders here so it won't be anything authentic if that's what you're looking for, but the boba is pretty good, at least I enjoyed the texture. We had a coconut smoothie with boba and an oreo 'shake' with boba. Both of the consistencies of the drinks definitely leaned more towards slush than they did smoothie or shake for that matter. That's a big reason for the meh review. They were probably left in the blender too long because it was almost a liquid and not a thick consistency which threw me off since I figured a shake would be a bit thicker. Regardless, the flavors were not bad. They just weren't great, ya know? Still this was the only option on this street and we settled. I do tend to like Boba Loca tapioca pearls for whatever reason and wouldn't be opposed to coming back. Just don't have high expectations. Parking could be a hassle, this is a busy little area. Fun to walk around, but potentially difficult to park in. If you go near the Holiday Inn that's just a few blocks down there's actually street parking over there that's free, no meters. If your ever in downtown Burbank you have to try this place out, its family owned and operated. But if you couldn't figure that out after seeing the name, then you might want to skip reading this review and hone in on your basic communication skills instead. This place was so great! I went with a guest and we were helped by a guy that seemed to be the owner. He was SUPER nice, friendly, helpful. Overall he was very welcoming. He told us about some items on the menu he recommended that we hadn't heard of before. There were also a few milk teas that were already made and he graciously offered us samples of all of them which really impressed me. I settled on the regular earl grey boba (I think here it was called boba milk tea). This was one of the milk teas already made and it was really good! At every other boba place I've gone to they are a bit stingy on the boba but at this place, the boba amount was NO JOKE! He filled our cup HALF way with boba alone. I was in boba heaven. It's located in such a cute, little area. There were other little things nearby; restaurants and shops. It was a nice area to take a walk in. There are many parking spots, however, it seems to be a rather crowded area (vehicle-wise). I did notice that people were frequently leaving so I was able to find parking right away. He kept calling me "ma'am" and when I said he didn't have to call me ma'am (it is just a boba shop...and I don't look that much older than him) he looked personally affronted lol. Anyways, I ordered a taro milk tea with boba and a churro. The boba came out and it was very syrupy tasting. There was hardly any ice and the boba pearls was very soft and small as if they'd been left in the boiler too long. I had to wait for the churro which was fine cause they let me know beforehand there would be a wait. It was a decent churro, nothing spectacular. The drink was super shaken up and had a weird foamy consistency and did not taste like tea at all, wasn't really that cold, the pudding was straight up mush and didn't properly harden into pudding?? Do not get the pudding!! This is the only place that I've gotten a bad pudding and it doesn't make any sense. I don't get it. Parking around this area is a pain. It's usually super crowded, but I can not fault them for that. I came in on a Sunday afternoon when it was maybe 95 degrees outside. Luckily, I somehow was the second person in line and when I turned around, the line was out the door! They literally had 2 people working, one to take orders/money, and the other to make the drinks. I waited about 10 minutes for the couple in front of me to finish ordering, and then after I ordered my drink, I literally waiting in the store for an additional 15-20 minutes for a milk tea with boba! The milk tea is literally already prepared and sitting behind the counter, but because they were so understaffed, it took me 25 in and out of the store for one drink. The boba is fine, nothing special, but I was floored that they were so understaffed on such a hot day. They have lots of options of milk teas, smoothies, and slushies. I would have given more stars for the drinks if the service wasn't so sub -par. read more

And this isn't just based off of one visit, I always give boba houses the benefit of the doubt in case they had an off day where their boba just happened to be inconsistent. Nope. Every time I give this place another chance, I become more disappointed. Their drinks taste way too sugary and artifical [Lollipop and TapX uses syrup/powders for their drinks too but at least those taste edible]. The boba isn't soft/chewy either, it tastes like you're biting into a tasteless hard substance. I love this place. Most of their drinks are vegan since they make their drinks with rice milk (which is the way all boba drinks should be made) instead of dairy milk. They have A LOT of different flavors, and even some you can ask them to make. I usually get a strawberry coconut smoothie with boba. It's not on the menu, but if they have the flavors there they cab do whatever you want! HOT HOT HOT! Maybe there's no air conditioning? I mean there was 5 massive industrial sized fans blowing inside. Loud, and they charge you for using plastic if your total is under $10. Everything is under $5 so if you are ordering more than at least 3 drinks/food items be prepared to be charge the $0.35. I didn't care, but that's just me. My friend and I's drinks were amazing, which made up for the no air-conditioning-anxiety-driven-heat, and the poor parking of the Burbank in general. I was killing some time before my Book Club, however, on one of the hottest freaking days in early Sept and the air in there was rather close. The ceiling fans were on full blast, and their positioning underneath the lighting was giving me a strobe headache while I was trying to read my book. I never used to like boba - they werid little black chewy balls that had no flavor. But, after giving it another shot again here, I'm in love with the stuff! Boba Loca has a very extensive list of flavors and types of drinks to try, as well as yogurt and food if you're hungry. They also have a frequent buyer card, and after buying 9 drinks, your 10th is free which is awesome! I usually always opt to order a slush because it usually lasts me longer (I can't drink it as fast or - brainfreeze!) I have tried so many different flavors (my goal is to try them all), but I must say that the traditional Milk Tea is by far my favorite with Taro Tea a close second (for now).
