I went to Boba Loca for the first time and upon walking in he kindly greeted me and went through options and samplings of what id like and put together a drink for me. Non dairy and sweet. It was 95 degrees outside and about 90 in the store :-( I'm not sure what happened to their AC. The sesame slush was great! The strawberry and banana slushes were ok. I also tried their house special shaved ice. It was huge for $5.95. Topped with condensed milk, red beans, boba, mochi, and fruit cocktail. Unfortunately, the ice was pretty solid though and nearly impossible to scoop. The cashier was well-trained. He sneezed into his left hand during my transaction. Cute store. Lots of fun, local-drawn art on the wall. But the boba itself is pretty awful. I never thought anyone could mess up Almond Milk Tea. It's a standard at any boba store. But they were able to. Hard, chewy balls that were stuck together. Super-sickenly sweet sections followed by incredibly bland sections, even after shaking up the drink. At the end it was just disgustingly cloying. Luckily, I bought it to keep me awake on my drive, so it was effective in doing that. What's loca about the boba here? The only crazy thing was the long wait for your order. They have a good menu and a lot to choose from. You can customize and choose whatever you want. They have some food as well as cafe drinks among other things. The drinks were okay but not up to my taste buds. I was definitely disappointed with the boba here. The smoothie did not taste as fresh as advertised. Pricing was a little higher than most boba shops. Make sure you order enough to use card or you will have to pay cash. The positive part is that there is free wifi with the password posted above the front counter. There are some seating areas but it's not a big place. After going to two other places that claimed to be open but we're not, we finally came here. I ordered a milk tea. I drink tea every day, this milk tea definitely had no real tea in it. It tasted milky and sweet and I could not taste the tea at all. Finally I got a huge headache from not have caffeine that confirmed my suspicions. This is a ok boba spot for it to be nearby. I usually get green team sweetened with honey which is good, however the menu seems a little short. One thing I don't like is that they only have two cup sizes small and large compared to other places you have the option of getting a bigger drink. I usually get my drinks from Quickly's where I pay 4.50 for a larger drink at this location I paid 6. So you spend more money here for less. With the pandemic they only allow one person in the store at a time which is a plus at times if your getting something simple you can stay in the store to get your drink right away. I will go here again to try the grape slush it was my favorite drink in Florida. I hope this one rises to the occasion. read more

How do you like to drink your sugar? With milk and tea? Perfect! Usually boba shops brew a distinct variety of tea that is complemented by the milk and sugary-syrup-brewed tapioca pearls; however, Bobaloca here only really takes those basic ingredients and fails to make it special. The drink is too sweet. The milk is overpowering. And there is barely much tea in it. Hence the unstained-wood look of the drink (see photo). The boba itself is too soft like a memory-foam pillow. If you like it like that, you'll like this place. But after having a taste of the best boba milk teas that SoCal has to offer (particularly in Rowland Heights and Arcadia), Bobaloca is just subpar. In hindsight, this Bobaloca caters to the Burbank and Glendale demographics and tastes, specializing in more smoothies and slush drinks than classic milk teas. Pretty easy location to find right on San Fernando. Parking might be an issues on Friday/Saturday night. Definitely a smaller store. Walking in, the place looks a bit more slumber than most boba place. Lack of lighting I guess. It didn't look too packed when we walked in. The ambiance is pretty relax but it's doesn't feel as energetic as other boba places nor does it feel very welcoming. There quite a bit of space to sit and hang out. It's pretty quiet tho so it's more of a study area than to hang out with your friends Anyway, when you get to the cashier, it was manned by two older people. A man and woman, probably the owners. Very straight to the point and nothing more. The menu looks very typical of anything less than most boba places. I ended up with their Jamone milk tea. It tasted ok at most. Very sweet but slowly dilutes with ice. Can't taste the jasmine tea as much. The gf got the almond milk tea which was extra sweet. Doesn't look like there's too much craft going into their tea in this place. Overall, I'd give this place a 2.5/3 stars. Very typical boba place, slightly subpar compared to the typical. Could use a little more friendliness and a little more oomph. Definitely pricier menu for the taste that you get. read more

This is my first time here (6/2/2016). This cafe is located next to Moana Hawaiian BBQ. DRINKS I wanted something different so I ordered a regular size Lavender Milk Tea with Boba for $4.25 (including tax). I wasn't sure what to expect but it tasted like sweetened milk with Lavender essence and boba. The boba was soft, chewy but a bit slimy. It was a decent drink but I haven't decided if I would buy it again. Overall, the drink was interesting and okay. It wasn't outstanding but definitely a new experience. The boba was easy to chew and eat. Their drinks only comes in Regular or Large sizes. CUSTOMER SERVICE I was greeted and taken care by a young man, looks about mid-late 20's. Very friendly and polite. Another person, an older man was preparing the drinks. He was friendly and polite as well. AMBIANCE It's a small but long cafe. Plenty of tall tables and chairs with a 4 cushioned chairs at one wall. They had a small flat screen tv that played the news. The tall chairs were not comfortable, all of the tables were scratched, there were no outlets near the tables that I noticed, they have ceiling and floor fans that were in use (at least it was blowing somewhat cool air), they have large menu's on the walls, a cork board full of drawings by customers (I think) and it's very loud due to the blenders. There's no music and the tv was not too loud when the cafe is silent. This place is clean and organized, a decent place to hangout but it's difficult to work or study. Some of the customers are loud and obnoxious. When combined with the loud blenders, the atmosphere is no longer enjoyable. PARKINIG Free limited street parking. There's also the parking garage near the AMC Theater that's also free and limited. CONCLUSION I would come back again and try the other drinks. They have a huge variety of drinks, that being said the flavored ones taste a little fake, I had a large honeydew and my spouse had a blueberry, both tasted a little off. The thai tea boba was spot on! The service was okay, the lady was irked when I asked if she could run my debit card as credit to avoid 35 cent fee. (sorry, I don´t like to give my money away to anyone), she snapped at me, "If it says debit on the card, then I have to run it like debit." I said, then cancel the transaction and gave her a credit card. She was not happy, like I was taking her time. (we were the only customers in the store). The armchairs here are a little on the dirty side. I don't know if I would want to sit there as who knows when the last time it was washed. They have barstools available and those do look cleaner. It's a great place to hang out or get some work done with their free WiFi. I did not check what the speed was, but even if it's not as fast as you'd like, you are in the middle of Burbank. Your cellular data should be plenty good enough. They do have a lot of choices to choose from. The prices are a little high IMO, but then again, it's Burbank. I think their service is pretty avg. We had a party of 8, so it took about 10 or so minutes for our order to be complete. They have different prices for cash and card. So if you want to save a bit, pay with cash. Stopped by for boba today. I have a pretty long commute home, so since I was making a stop, thought having boba might help make my Friday drive better. There was about 5-6 people already at the shop, mostly teenagers, so thought maybe because there were customers, the boba would be good. Worked my way down the milk tea list and decided on ordering a large Honeydew Milk Tea (I usually alternate between taro and honeydew if there aren't any additional tea flavors I like). Immediately noticed how all the prices on the wood menu boards were covered in white hand written pieces of paper that are taped on. Luckily, I had cash or I'd have to pay an extra $0.30. Nearly $6 for a boba is pretty expensive. I paid and stepped aside from the counter to wait for my drink. As I stood there, I peeped labeled drink dispensers behind the counter and saw taro and honeydew flavors. Almost instantaneously, my drink order was ready and realized their drinks are not made to order. For $5.50, I would expect my drink to be crafted like most all boba places do. The decor of the shop is pretty dated with old posters. There are a few high tables and a counter to sit at. There is a dingy couch and a dirty glass coffee table, which appears to recreate a cafe feel. I don't think I could sit and relax on it, just wouldn't feel comfortable. I also laughed at the pretzel display next to the counter because it's lit as if there are fresh pretzels inside and then realized it was plastic! Once I got to the car, I swirled my cup upside down like I always do and poked my straw in to take a sip. Since it was a large, there didn't seem to be much ice so I didn't find it very refreshing. After a few more sips, I found the drink to be too milky. There is honeydew flavor, but then a plain milk taste lingers. When you chew the boba, I typically like the mix of the sweet tapioca mixed with the milk tea flavor. In this case, it was just plain tapioca and milk. When I love my drink, I usually finish it before I get home. This time around, I barely drank half of it by the time I got home. Just didn't enjoy the drink and doubt will go back again. I have an extra star for the texture of the boba, which if I actually liked the milk tea, would have really enjoyed the boba that much more.
