Earlier today my car began overheating on 394, near Penn. I managed to find this Bobby and Steve's location and get my car there. I was unbelievably amazed at the exemplary customer service that the mechanic on duty, Gaige, provided me. He not only fixed the problem effectively and efficiently - he managed to calm me down - not an easy thing at that time! He was patient, kind and so helpful. He took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions patiently (even when it was the second or third time I asked.) this was an awful experience. Someone was going to buy my van, so I had them do the new vehicle check at Bobby and Steve's right down the street. I had been debating putting a new starter in, so I asked how much it would be and figured what the heck I'll go ahead and have it done for the new owner. Oh my God. They told me everything was good and not only does the van now not start and run, you have to definitely feed it gas to get it started, it no longer is running right! I have always loved the sound of that engine starting, now it sounds like a car being tortured or something. On a vehicle I was literally going to sell in a couple days! Now I have to go bring it to another mechanic to try to have them repair whatever the heck just happened. I am devastated, and definitely not satisfied. This was awful service. If something was that wrong with the van they should never have turned it over to me without at least warning me. 100% unethical company! I would never give somebody a vehicle that had that issue back on the repair. And the last repair I had they brought it back and it was leaking. And I brought it in to fix a leak. I let that last issue go because I brought it back and they repaired it, but this time I'm saying stay away. I am so incredibly disappointed. Not only in the service, but in the way that the guy handled it. He pretended like nothing was wrong. That right there says don't go here. I would know somethings wrong and I am not a mechanic! Went in knowing my only repair was new brake pads. That's what I told Jason as well. After I dropped my car off and walked home, I got the text that is attached. I immediately went back and they told me I needed repairs on a lot more than brake pads to say the least. I immediately called a mechanic family friend, who (was obviously disappointed I went somewhere else) said that I was being taken advantage of. Bobby and Steves? *UPDATE* Claim submitted to insurance company due to lack of response from Bobby and Steve's auto world. After repeated attempts to contact the towing manager at bobby and Steve's auto world, I have yet to receive a response. My vehicle was damaged in a tow (not consented by me) last friday at approximately 1 AM by a tow truck operator working for bobby and Steve's. After 3 phone calls and a voicemail message expressing the urgency to respond, I finally received a call from the impound manager to discuss the damages caused and the process of repairing/reimbursing me for said damages. She referred me to the towing manager and said I should receive a call from him by Monday (today) at the latest. Still no response. No way to leave a message for said towing manager. No action or effort taken by their company to respond to my concerns. The people I have spoken to have been very polite and have tried their best to put me in contact with the person in charge of towing services, however it seems like I am being ignored by those in charge. In summary, I would NOT recommend bobby and Steve's towing services to anybody. Avoid them if you can. read more

I've been to the Bobby and Steve's in Downtown, South Minneapolis (Nicollet), Eden Prairie (Center Mall Area) and Valley View Rd and they are all clean and offer tons of amenities that are not usually found at a gas station. With that in mind, I purchased a Star Tribune Steal and came here to have my oil changed, and was greatly surprised at its dumpiness. The guys were friendly and I had no complaints about the service, but man this place needs to be cleaned up. read more

I was treated with complete disrespect at their towing facility. I was not allowed to use the bathroom and had to walk 20 minutes away to the nearest one that they recommended which was closed for construction. I was kept in a tiny door entrance for 3 hours and was not shown any sort of empathy or given any assistance. The woman working the counter was rude and cold. Make sure to have your registration and insurance on hand or they will not release your car for the overpriced fee they charge. This tow company damaged my front bumper and radiator/surrounding structure of my car when they hooked it up for towing. They then decided not to take responsibility for their negligence and sloppy work. YOU HAD ONE JOB, and failed. If you can't hook a car up for towing without damaging it, you shouldn't be towing. The tow truck driver stopped to help someone else without informing us, so we were left waiting without any idea what was going on and had to call him multiple times to see what was going on, ETA, etc. Then he doesn't call when he finally arrives at the dealership. When the truck driver from Bobby and Steve's dropped off my car, they gave my keys to some random guy on the dealership lot. My car was found the next day in a corn field about two hours south of the dealership. I highly recommend never using the services from this location. read more

I only went here because I had a living social deal for 3 oil changes. While they were accommodating when I lost my punch card for the deal, I was pretty underwhelmed by the service. Each time, they took about twice the amount of time I was told when dropping off my car (1.5-2 hours). Today, they also failed to reset the low air pressure tire light after having my car for a total of 2 hours (I was told it would take 1 hour). When I called them about it as I was leaving, giving them a chance to correct it, they were telling me, the light would correct itself when I drive my car for a bit (wrong) and in the end hung up on me because "I got the oil change for free anyway" (also wrong, I paid for the living social deal AND wasted 2h of my life on it)... Do NOT take your car here for ANY reason. They are criminals. I took my car there for an oil change, they didn't replace the oil plug, my engine ran out of oil, seized up and is damaged. One of the owners, (Randy) stated that they would "put a new engine in it". Great, I thought! They're going to do the right thing. When Randy called back and said he would NOT honor his word, I spoke to Scott (a manager) who stated, "Well, if Randy said he'd put in a new engine, then that's what we'll do." When I went to pick up a loaner vehicle, I shook his hand on it. They have now gone back on their word (twice) and deny any damage was done to the engine. They're offering free oil changes for a year. Seriously? Are they mentally slow? Why would I take my car there to be serviced for a YEAR when they couldn't correctly change my oil AND won't fix their own problem? I believe the irony was lost on them... This car was a birthday gift from my 24 year-old brother who lost his dad this winter. He used his inheritance to buy me a 2012 RAV4 with 27,000 miles on it. It was in perfect condition. I am a single mom who works full time and he wanted me to have a reliable and safe car to drive my son (and his new nephew) around in. We're not asking for anything other for them to fix their mistake. And the only way they can do that is to put a new engine in the car. It's that simple. The car was driven with no oil in it for at least 2 days, if not more. It was seizing up by the time I had it towed. There is absolutely damage done to that engine; it's just a matter of how much. I brought it to Bobby and Steve's because my company has a "corporate rate" with them. Never, never, NEVER take your vehicle here. They are the definition of sneaky and shady and take advantage of their customers. I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a "local" business in my life. In response to "Steve A's" comment: Steve A is one of the owners. He NEVER bothered to call me personally to discuss this issue. He is posting on here in the hopes of saving his reputation - which by the way, is terrible. My car was not just "low on oil". Don't minimize the issue. It was bone dry, as attested to by the BP in Wayzata when they checked it for me Saturday morning. And it was in the process of seizing up; it didn't because I stopped driving it. There is a pool of oil in my garage; damage was absolutely done and you and your staff have no way of guaranteeing there wasn't unless you replace the engine. You're offering a 12 month warranty? Weird, because Randy offered me a 100,000 mile warranty just yesterday. One year won't even begin to cover the life of this motor. There's a reason my brother bought me a Toyota - because they run forever IF they're taken care of properly. You have gone back on your word more times than I can count, lied and are looking out for one person's interest and one person's interest only - your own. The first words out of your OWN tow truck driver's mouth was, "So, what did they screw up this time?" If that doesn't speak volumes about your reputation and how you run your business, I don't know what does. read more

Wow! I am still blown away by the amazing road-side assistance I received today from AJ! I was the victim of a flat tire in the middle of the work day, and desperately needed help in getting my spare changed out. AJ arrived within 45 minutes of calling and was professional and personable. Even when it took over 20 minutes of hard labor to remove my rusted lug nuts, he remained positive and kept working at it to try and prevent the need to tow my car. Thankfully his perseverance (and strength) allowed him to successfully change my tire and he was courteous the entire time. I dislike to have to write a negative review about a company but I have given this establishment plenty of chances. Their communication isn't the best and they aren't very helpful. I was in desperate need and I was told that they could get my vehicle back going by the end of business hours. I waited until 9:45pm before I called and they hadn't even looked at my vehicle. I returned the next morning at 7am and they started looking at it. 1 pm came around and they told me that they couldn't fix my vehicle, because they didn't have the proper tools to do so. Stay away from Bobby and Steve's, they will damage your car even more than it already is. On Tuesday 8/7/2018 my front left wheel seized up and so I pulled over to the side of the road. I called AAA to request a tow and was told the West Minneapolis Bobby and Steve's would come out to tow me. After waiting longer than originally quoted the driver, Kyle, arrived with a flatbed trailer and drug the car with the seized wheel up onto the trailer damaging the axle and wheel of the car. When kyle unloaded the car he proceeded to damage the car further by trying to lurch and drag it off of the trailer causing the axle to separate entirely and forcing the wheel up and over the side of the trailer, also scraping the front bumper in the process. Kyle caused additional damage to the front left quarter panel by opening the door while the car was jacked up and getting inside the car. When I asked who I should call about the damage, AAA or Bobby and Steve's, Kyle became hostile and insisted there was no damage caused. I called Bobby and Steves on Wednesday 8/8/18 to report the damage and spoke to a service manager, Adam, who at first denied any damage and then changed his mind and said if I got it to him he would take a look at the wheel bearing. He then transferred me to the towing department to set up a tow back to Bobby and Steve's. On Thursday 8/9/18 I received a call from Adam saying that they never received my car after Bobby and Steve's took it the night before and he had changed his mind again was was not going to help me at all. I asked him to explain himself because just yesterday he said he would and he got aggressive and started yelling over the phone until the call ended. After tracking my car down to the South Minneapolis Bobby and Steves where it was dropped off after closing time and nobody was told about it I had it towed back to the West Minneapolis Bobby and Steve's that night. On Friday 8/10/18 I asked Adam to write me an estimate for the damage, he acknowledged and then hung up on me. The weekend passed and by Monday 8/13/18 afternoon I had not heard anything from Bobby and Steve's I called and requested my car back to my house and even after they dropped the car off I never received an estimate. When I called AAA for help they investigated and told me the driver admitted to rolling the wheel over the railing but still adamantly denies any damage was caused. I had to fix the car myself buying $356.57 worth of parts to replace their damage. read more

Today they had some issues with the machine hoist so they took a littler longer than expected for my oil change and tire rotation. I had my catalytic converter changed couple years ago and so I thought. They had charged me over $600. Last week I had issues with Catalytic converter and took the vehicle in to another mechanic. That mechanic said that I still had the old catalytic converter. Bobby and Steve's never changed it yet charged me. It has been about two years and that is why I didn't bother with it. I have completely stopped going there even though there is one just under a mile from where I live. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at an auto shop. Never going there again. I usually don't leave bad reviews but I felt this was necessary. I brought my car here to see what was wrong with it. I waited around all afternoon for them to call me. Then when they finally did, they had a long list of things that needed to be fixed. They quoted me at over $1000 for repairs and new tires. I spoke with a guy named Shue (not sure how to spell it) who was extremely rude and wouldn't listen to what I had to say. I kept telling him that I didn't need new tires, yet he continued to push it. He talked over me and would get defensive and angry when I tried explaining that I didn't need all that work done on my car. He made me feel terrible and felt like he treated me that way because I'm a young female. I finally just stopped trying. I went to another shop and my car was fixed for $130. What I went through was completely unnecessary and a waste of my time. read more

I went here for an oil change, they missed filling the coolant and were unapologetic when I mentioned it to them. They also gave me a list of additional repairs my car needed including a transmission flush, brake flush, running dyes through my system to find a leak, and replacing plugs and wires. I took it to another mechanic who showed me the leak with a FLASHLIGHT and fixed it for half the price. NEVER GOING BACK. This is the second Bobby and Steve's that has completely frustrated me. When towing my car, they failed to deliver it to my mechanic and ended up "losing" the car overnight, telling me they had no record of it when I called their dispatch. When I finally drove around to multiple B&S locations to try to find my car, I found it at this one. It took an additional 12 hours for them to deliver it to my mechanic. They only did this, finally, because I had to threaten to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Never again will I step foot in a Bobby and Steve's, even for a quick snack. read more
