There are two swings with the words "Life is Beautiful" in the back drop. Additionally, there is a selfie mirror and a green, vintage couch. There were many taking photos for social media. Review necessary for metal straw: Upon checking in to Yelp, you get an offer for a free metal straw. However, to redeem, one needs to write a review and show to staff to receive the straw. I happily enjoy writing reviews and was planning on doing one for Bober Tea before knowing of the straw, but having to write one on the spot for a straw was not ideal as I tend to take my time for reviews and was rushed. Expansive menu: The drink and food menu is expansive. There are several types of doughnuts with the most popular being the ube. There is a tea category here for all taste preferences and these include brown sugar to rich milk tea, milk tea, fresh fruit, chizu and just tea. You can then choose from seven toppings which are stir-fried brown sugar boba, chizu cream, passion fruit popping boba, lychee popping jelly boba, rainbow jelly, crystal jelly, grass jelly. The ice levels are 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. Additionally, there is a list of the shops eight drinks: strawberry chizu green tea, pink haze, brown sugar matcha latte, chizu taro latte, brown sugar oreo milk tea, brown sugar roasted oolong, watermelon milk tea, mango chizu green tea. Pricey: I had a large pink haze and ube doughnut coming out $12.12. These prices are on the steep side, being much more money than what I pay for boba and a pastry in San Francisco. I guess you're paying for Instagram experience (except I don't have social media)? Good drinks and dessert: Vietnamese coffee is my favorite coffee drink so choosing the pink haze drink was a must! While I DO NUT like deep fried dough, I gave the ube a try!! The pink haze had pros and cons. The pros were the boba was neither too soft nor too hard while the drink was tasty and strong, perfect for a caffeine fix; the con would be the pink hazelnut haze was too sweet, and I have a high sugar threshold. Surprisingly, the ube doughnut hit the spot for me, which is big for someone who loves foods and deserts sanz doughnuts. The ube doughnut was fluffy, tasty and the right amount of sugar. Overall, Bober Tea is cute. I don't fit into the targeted demographic of young customers posting for the instagram but am happy I got to cross off this shop from my bucket list. There are not many good boba spots around this area, so I am glad to see another one open up in the downtown/midtown area. Parking: there is street parking, but you may have to circle around a couple times to get a spot (at least after work hours). Setting: love all the instagram approved backgrounds! It's not too big overall, more for grab and go. Staff was very friendly! **I WAS OVERCHARGED!! THEY NEED TO UPDATE THEIR MENU PRICES POSTED INSIDE! The only drinks that I was charged correctly was "the OG" and the "pink haze." I didn't notice until writing this review and looking at the receipt that was emailed to me! ** - this doesn't change my experience and luckily I wasn't super overcharged, but something to look out for just incase it's a big difference. (I was charged $6.20 + $6.90 + $6.40 + $5.40 + an extra $2.18 (8.75%) tax + $0.37 HBID tax + my tip) Supreme grapefruit green tea (L, $5.40) +Boba ($0.6) +Chizu ($0.6) (total that I was charged $6.90, but it should have been $6.60) -You can't adjust the sweetness on this drink for those who like to. I don't mind since I almost never adjust the sweetness. It wasn't too sweet in my opinion, but sweeter than I expected. I thought it would have more of a bitter/sour sweet taste like the fruit, but it didn't. -Although I wish it had more of a sour kick, it was still tasty and they included a slice of grapefruit which was very fresh. Strawberry chizu green tea (L, $5.70) (I didn't add anything to this drink, but was charged $6.20) - This is one of my favorites here along with the mango chizu, but unfortunately they didn't have the mango in this location when I came. -I love the fresh strawberries blended in this drink with their cream, perfect mixture. However, I wish they had options to use other teas such as black or oolong, but nothing wrong with their green tea (very tasty), I just favor the other teas when I typically get boba drinks. The OG (Vietnamese coffee) (L, $5.40) -It won't have that bold coffee taste and doesn't taste like your typical Vietnamese coffee, but still pretty good! -Although it's not like your mom and pop Vietnamese coffee, it does beat having to do to 2 different spots when you want both coffee and boba tea drinks. Bober Tea opens so early and I'm here for it. If I lived closer to Bober, there's no doubt I'd be ordering here for my morning caffeine! We stopped in to get some drinks to pair with our lunch. I decided on the strawberry chizu green tea and my husband got the pink haze Vietnamese coffee. The strawberry was very good but the cream didn't have enough flavor in my opinion, but maybe I was just comparing it to the similar drink from Happy Lemon. It's really tasty once it's all mixed in together though! My husband's pink haze Vietnamese coffee was barely pink, but it was super tasty. The salted cream and dusted chocolate add a unique flavor to the coffee drink. It's perfectly creamy and bitter, and it had my husband wanting to drive back to Bober Tea as soon as he finished his drink. Our experience at this location was much better than the one we had at their first Sacramento location. Another boba spot in Sac? Do we need it? YES! I like to think that Sac has a pretty solid boba market. nothings too far and everything is good to great. When Bober made its way to downtown, I knew this would just elevate my affection for milk tea even more. I was a little slow out of the gate to give Bober a try (blame the Panny) but finally got an oppourtunity over the weekend to give it a go. This place is aesthetically pleasing on the inside coming equipped with some swings for cute boomerangs and even a little selfie station so assure you're looking like a snack. Now for my thoughts on the drink. I went with the "The Signature Milk Tea" option and I thought it was great. I have a sweet tooth and this hit the spot. I have have lactose issues so it hit more than 1 spot but still worth it! The Signature comes with a house made brown sugar syrup, stir-fried brown sugar boba, house made cream cheese and if thats not enough for you. they brulee that thang adding to an overall amazing taste. Well well...I haven't been downtown in quite some time. This place is just a few doors down from Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates. So Hubby went to GEC, while I perused the storefronts and came across a couple of places, this being one of them. Upon walking up, there is quite the line for this place, what can I say, boba is quite the hot commodity. I wait for quite awhile as people can't really peruse the menu ahead of time due to there only being 2 groups inside at a time (COVID compliance and all) and people having to step inside to hear for their name to be called. It is what it is though. Inside the place is quite peppy and incites happiness and just over all good wistful feelings. I felt perky walking in, as there is a cute love seat to the right and to the left a couple of very pretty fluffy seated swings. Very pink and reminiscent of the Trolls movie! Hehe! Onto the treats and sweets. There is a good variety of donut looking things behind the glass display. I asked what these confections are and the girl says they are mochi donuts. Sounds interesting, and then looking at the menu there is one item dubbed the Signature. So I go for that, however I forget to tell them 50% sugar. The lid is this crystal looking lid, very pretty, and the drink it self is very aesthetically pleasing. The flavor of this said drink is tasty, sweet, and although a little more sugary than I typically order (due to my air-headedness in forgetting to ask for reduced sugar), I really liked it a lot. It was delicious af! The boba were swimming in a sugary syrup that felt warm to the touch on the bottom of the adorable cup with little plastic animal ears sticking out of the top. If you want dessert in a cup, go for it! I felt it was a little too much but it was still super yummy and I will definitely be back to try more treats here. Of course, their drink selection is what makes them amazing. They have drinks with bases like milk tea, Yakut, fresh fruit, Vietnamese coffee, etc. Such a wide variety! The signature has been my favorite so far since it's very robust tasting, and sweet and creamy. The strawberry chizu is refreshing, would recommend for summer drink. The boba cups are so cute, with a bear lid (although extra plastic...) Service is quick, efficient, and friendly. Bober tea is the always reliable very instagrammable shop. I've been to the south sac one but this was my first time at the midtown one! Parking was a mess for me LOL. But if you know the area and know where to park (I paid for parking but there's probably free 2hr parking somewhere...) you'll be fine. The interior is cute as always! Flower wall, mirror for selfies and pink EVERYWHERE. It's just really small inside, so nowhere really to hang out or anything. You just take order, take pictures then dip. Finally boba in midtown!! Today is their grand opening and they are giving away free reusable metal straws (choice of metallic or gold color) with purchase! I ordered the Mango Green Tea with Brown Sugar Stir-Fried Boba and Kung Fu Tea with Brown Sugar and Konjac. The Mango Green Tea is made with real mango fruit pieces and juice, making this a very refreshing and sweet drink! The tapioca pearls (boba), stir-fried in brown sugar right in the front counter, are just the right amount of sweet and chewy! The Kung Fu Tea is great pick me up and the added toppings make it extra sweet. Make sure to get any brown sugar drinks at 50% sweetness to balance! The customer service was very friendly and accommodating. They answered all my questions and made sure to meet my allergy/dietary restrictions. (Thank you!!) Note all milk teas are made with a non-dairy creamer. All lattes are made with real fresh milk. All Chizu drinks are topped with cream cheese which contains dairy. This spot is pretty busy so be prepared to wait at least a little bit to order. My g/f and I popped in after yoga in the park. I grabbed a brown sugar oolong tea and my g/f got the purple taro drink. She enjoyed hers but I think mine was only ok. The boba balls were a bit too squishy for my liking and it was way sweet, even though I asked for mine to be 50% sweetness. We also each grabbed mochi donuts, which were ok. I got the taro/ube and she got the pandan. They weren't anything special and probably wouldn't get again. Tried Bober Tea for the first time, as they are part of the March Boba Bracket on Yelp. Their store is small, but, felt cozy. I love the cute, playful, fun decor of the place. Milk teas/brown sugar menu items are made with non dairy creamer. The only one on the milk tea menu that you cannot adjust sweetness is the wintermelon. I was able to get in and out quickly, as I was the only customer on a Monday morning (yesssssss!!). This also made looking for parking such a breeze!! As far as precautions for Covid19 is concerned: a mask is required, staff wore masks, and there are floor markers to ensure customers stay 6 feet from each other. Bober is known for their boba and their signature milk tea. I got the winter melon milk tea with boba, it was REALLY good. Normally you can choose the sweetness level but for the winter melon the sweetness level is already really high so you can't choose the sweetness level. It is very sweet, so you don't want to, but I really enjoyed it. The staff told me that it is very sweet and told me that I couldn't choose the sweetness level, I like that they told me that. I can't wait to go back to try their signature boba! They also sell donuts which looked really good. This place is an insta pic dream. They have really cute swings in front of a flower wall and other great spots to take pictures too. This location is on L street in the Handle District between 18th and 19th streets. There is maybe 5 parking spots on L street on a good day, so know that you most likely won't find parking right in front. You may have to circle the block once but that's typical for midtown. COVID Safety: There is a sign on the door that says they limit the capacity to 3 customers at a time and ask that everyone wear a face mask. Like most of the other businesses on L street the space is fairly small. They had hand sanitizer and the staff all wore masks as well. My first time at Bober Tea and I am a fan. I was staying at the Hyatt Regency and walked here. I got there around 1pm on a Thursday and the store wasn't busy. I took my order on the kiosk and paid through there. You could also order at the cashier but I like ordering through the kiosk so I can read through the menu without any pressure of someone waiting on me. The store is entirely pink, which I adored. There a swing set with a pretty flowery backdrop for IG worthy photo ops. I ordered the signature milk tea and my husband ordered the OG Vietnamese coffee. The wait was relatively quick since we were the only ones there at the moment. The signature was so good. Not too sweet and very creamy. The sugar level was on point for me. I tried the OG as well and it had a good Vietnamese coffee kick. A bit bitter for my taste but my husband liked it. Only one star off because I didn't see any caffeine free options since I'm a bit sensitive to caffeine. But overall, very good drinks. When I went it was packing despite placing an online order that was supposed to be ready for pick up in 15 mins, I waited outside for another 10 mins before deciding to come back. Pink drink: Not sure what exactly is in this but it was really really sweet, definitely recommend lowering the sweetness level if you can. It's got some sort of blended strawberry puree in it mixed with a heavier milk tea taste even tho it's jasmine green tea....weird. Hazelnut Milk tea: Pretty good but I did find the drink heavier the more you drink it. Very nutty indeed. Supreme mango green tea: The sweetness cannot be adjusted for this one sadly....it's a drink made with mango puree and jasmine green tea, which was very delicious but also very sweet. I'd recommend trying this with the passionfruit popping boba (yes, more sweetness). So far all of my drinks came with a cute bear war lids on top of an already plastic sealed top. Not sure if this comes in all drinks (don't think so) and though it's cute and prevents spillage for sure, it seems wasteful and not necessary. Indoor wise there's a gorgeous pink flower wall with two swings that is very picture worthy. Tip: leave a yelp review to get a free metal straw if you don't own any already. read more

This was really hard to drink and definitely overpriced for its quality ... We got the regular milk tea w 50% sugar (recommended by a friend who said that their drinks are really sweet). This drink was so sweet that it covered the tea flavor so it tasted like sugar milk at 110% sweetness. This Bober Tea is one of the original ones in California before they started to popped up everywhere. They are very IG worthy - known for their bright, pink, and pretty aesthetics. If it was for the interior alone, I would rate it higher. Parking is street parking and it can be hit or miss, since it is downtown Sacramento - I had to park a few blocks down and walk. I opted for my usual jasmine milk tea with their stir fried boba. The milk tea itself was creamy and watery with no real tea taste - I felt like I was drinking solely watered down soy milk with a bad aftertaste. The drink was not that sweet at 75% sweetness and with normal ice, the drink was warmish not nice and cold. I feel like I just found out about this franchise, and now I see it everywhere LOL. Love that they keep their signature floral, pink, IG-ready look consistent across locations. Their stores are like... Pinterest trope overload. For COVID safety purposes, masks are required and hand sanitizer is readily available. Their swings were still open for photo opps. Patrons can order at the front desk or on a kiosk on the wall. Most drinks can run up to $7/8-- worth it? Debatable. MUNG BEAN PANDAN LATTE (50% sweet, no ice, w/stir fried boba): We love a unique drink that rises to the occasion! I was pleasantly surprised at how light and floral the pandan tea was (not overwhelming at all), and how it complemented the earthy mung beans so well. This would definitely be my go-to if a Bober was near me (they seem to be everywhere but my city)... Their touted "stir-fried" boba, on the other hand, is simply... "Thicker" boba. Imagine regular brown sugar boba, but a smidge savory (still VERY sweet!) and more syrup. That's... pretty much it. The texture change (softer) was negligible. Came here after dinner next door with a friend. This was my 1st time going to a Bober Tea location and I knew they're famous for their cute decor and backdrops for selfies and yes....we took a few of course. Lol I had the chizu matcha latte and added the brown sugar boba. I didn't pay attention and didn't realize I could adjust the sweetness but, matcha is usually a pretty mild flavor. This drink wasn't very sweet even with the brown sugar boba. It was a delicious and refreshing. The cold chizu foam was good. The only reason I docked a star was because they ran out of their smaller cups, so me and the group I went with had to order the larger drinks. read more

The best location they have. I had the pleasure of having hailey or Katie? Sorry it was so hard to hear. I came in at 5:50ish today. Lol. This location is so consistent with my drinks, I love it. I'm well aware that this is their second location and it still comes best. 1. midtown 2. 65th 3. Natomas ^^ in order from the best locations to worst. I love how this location is quick and efficient. I never wait too long for my drink no matter how busy. They're so organized, love it! read more

This place is so cute! I love the inside decor with all the flowers and how clean/sleek everything is. The swings with the flowers wall is v cute for pictures as well. I ordered the supreme strawberry green tea with stir fried boba, and I was a bit curious about how stir fried boba would be different from other boba. It pretty much tasted the same LOL. The workers were friendly and we got our drinks pretty fast! We ordered at the kiosk near the entrance and my drink came out in less than 5 minutes. Looking forward to trying more of their drinks! Parking can be a bit hard to find when it's busy, but it's not too bad. read more

Was in the area so decided to try this tea place. There's a screen you can order from. There was a line to order and we prob spent 20 mins waiting to order. We ordered more than 10 drinks so it took some time once we got to the self ordering kiosk. I got the jasmine milk tea with agar boba and it tasted good. My friends tried the other drinks and said it was fine too. Will try another drink if I'm around the area again read more

I've read about this place, heard about this place and was always wanting to try. Was in the neighborhood and had time after an appt and finally said today is the day. I had asked a friend for some recommendations and I went with the brown sugar Oreo milk tea with stir fried boba. I didn't know what to expect but...Honestly...after having Bober, I don't know how I could ever have any other boba. It was so delicious, smooth and just such a treat. The location is on this semi corner and I was lucky enough to find parking nearby for a quick pick up. (Door dash pick up!) I really can't wait to go back and try others. I don't live in the area but have already looked up some near me. Trust me, I'll be making some stops soon! read more

Stopped in here the other evening because of the great reviews on Yelp. Had to park a few blocks away but it was after work hours so it was free. The Instagram factor is certainly present, which was illustrated immediately by a girl in a mini skirt and tube top having a selfie session against the rose wall when it was in the 40's outside. I assume they have removed the swings I saw in previous photos because if the wall alone can cause someone to strip down in the cold and stay inside for such long lengths of time, I can only imagine the energy those swings were bringing! Ordered the Mung Bean Pandan Latte and a Jasmine milk tea with crystal jellies. The latte had a lovely flower on top and the milk tea was sealed with the cutest lid. Presentation was great! I really enjoyed the unique flavor of the Latte and the milk tea had great Jasmine flavor. Probably should have adjusted the sweetness of the drinks down, but that's on me. Service was ok and I would try them again if I was in the area. read more

Update: After leaving feedback through their Square app receipt (you can leave a happy face or sad face to rate your experience, and there's a section to elaborate on your response), someone reached out to resolve the issue and I appreciate how quick they were to respond. I think after this experience with customer service at the shop (not the email response itself, but I'm appreciative for that), I would still wait before returning/return if I was in the area already. --- The customer service here isn't that great. I've been to this location and the South Sac location several times. I came here to order the new mung bean pandan latte since it is 50% off through 12/10 and I was already in the area. The young lady at the register said hi while she had another customer standing there that she had just finished helping (so I didn't want to run over and stand close to them) and I said hi and asked her how she was doing. She either didn't hear me or ignored me, and didn't reply, so I didn't think too much of it for those previous reasons in that moment. I ordered my drink, and accidentally mentioned the size as "medium" as opposed to "small" or "large". Some other boba places they have "medium" and "large" only, like Happy Lemon. The cashier replies, "We only have small and large." So I ordered the small and added boba. I asked what level sweetness she recommended, and she said they don't do any sugar adjustments for this drink. She left to go make my drink and turned over the register for me to complete my order. My drink cost $3.65 (with boba). She came back out, and I wanted to confirm that the drink was 50% off as mentioned on their Instagram, so I asked her. She looked at me like "are you serious," and I get that it's annoying/can be troublesome to have to go back and do any refunds/price adjustments. If it's really troublesome and she just told me just that, I would have just accepted it. Anyway, she then told me, "You didn't show me the discount," essentially blaming me for possibly not getting a discount for that reason. I told her I wasn't aware that I had to show her the post, because there's no mention of that and that I could show her the post. She didn't bother to look at the post. I have attached the Instagram post to this review. She asked me if it was specific for that location or a different one instead. I told her it said all locations. She then scrolled through her register to check, and confirmed that I did get the 50% off automatically and just looked at me. No "thank you" or any response after that. Felt like the employee wasn't very aware of the promotions offered and making up excuses/customer blaming as a result, and didn't have basic manners/courtesy. The mung bean pandan latte drink was otherwise pretty (comes with an orchid flower to top it off). Good taste to the drink in that the mung bean pieces tasted fresh and roasted. The drink itself was creamy but a bit on the sweet side (could be 1 level less sweet if they offered that in the future). The boba was soft, warm, chewy, and slightly sweetened...all aspects of great boba. I definitely recommend the drink! I don't think I'd go out of my way to come to this location again, and would stick to going to the South Sac location due to the poor customer service. read more
