Shrimp rolls were amazing. Fresh plump shrimp with a great peanut sauce and fresh produce. Imperial rolls are next level. Honestly the best I have ever had. BoBo's is by far the Vietnamese in San Francisco! The imperial rolls are 100% perfect. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The canton clay pot has crispy rice, mixed in with perfectly tender rice accompanied with sausage, chicken, mushrooms and onions that had flavor profiles that's will make your mouth happy. The shaking beef is tender chunks of beef over perfect noodles in a delicious light gravy. If you're having troubles deciding on where to eat, look no further. Bobo's is THE place. read more

Authentic and delicious. Priced about the same as other Viet food here in the increasingly pricey Mission, but portions are generous, ingredients are super fresh, and flavors are out of this world. It's a one-woman operation, and food is all prepared fresh, so it may take while to get your order if it's busy - but well worth the wait. The lady who runs the place and cooks is really nice. The fresh lemonade: too watery and no taste. Beef pho: ordered medium rare but it was very very very tough. Broth and noodles were good. There was cilantro and onions in the soup already but there wasn't any lime or bean sprouts to add like all the other Vietnamese restaurants serve on the side. The fresh shrimp rolls: mostly lettuce. This place is a GEM. The food is incredible! If you're not sure what to get, ask Thuy. My boyfriend and I went and had spicy sesame with tamarin prawns, catfish, and fried pork rolls. A lady came into the store where I work and, in talking with her, I found out that she owns a Vietnamese restaurant at the corner of 18th and York Street. I'm always on the lookout for a good place to dine, and I like to do business with people who do business with us. So I went down to check it out the following evening. It's called Bobo's Bistro, and it's at 600 York Street. It's a little corner place with a homey atmosphere. Some restaurants pack you in so tightly that it's everyone on top of everyone else, but the spacing here is just right. There's a counter and a food-prep area where you can see the owner, Thuy, getting your food ready. I took a while to check out the menu, and decided to go with the Shaking Beef with garlic noodles. I used to think that Shaking Beef was some kind of jelly beef that jiggled on you plate like Jello, but that's not the case. Thuy brought me a nice big plate of perfectly cooked, tasty beef chunks on a nice bed of garlic noodles. The pieces of beef were just the right size, tasty and sauteed in burgundy. The noodles had plenty of chopped onions. Since I over-garlic everything I cook, I told her I'd get her to amp up the garlic for my next order. But that's not a complaint- the noodles and beef were both excellent. She made me up a nice big glass of fresh, not over-sweetened limenaide. If it'd been earlier in the day, I'd have gone with the Vietnamese coffee, but I couldn't risk it in the evening. Thuy came over and visited while I ate, and we had a nice conversation. I felt like I was visiting a friend's home for a nice, home-cooked meal. That's the kind of place it is, and Thuy's so sweet that I promised her I'd be back again. Sometimes I find a plate I like, and keep ordering the same thing over and over again. I know I'll get the Shaking Beef again, next time I stop in. But I want to work my way through the menu as time goes by. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Bobo's Bistro. read more

I was craving Pho and popped in for lunch on a Tuesday. I ordered the mixed seafood pho. Thy, the owner, rang me up and made my soup fresh. The noodles were cooked perfectly (not over cooked or mushy), the broth (my favorite part!) was flavorful and the mixed seafood was very fresh (not the standard frozen combo used at many restaurants). It felt like a home cooked meal. Great spot to have in the neighborhood. read more

I've walked past this lovely little restaurant so many times, and finally got to try it. At the end of a long week sinking into the comfortable cushioned bench seats and absorbing the colorful decor and music was so soothing! A number of menu items that were on the menu weren't available, so when I tried to order the lemongrass vegetables, Thuy (the owner) offered to make me a curry instead. Curries aren't my thing, but I thought, well, I came here to try something new-- and was caught off guard by how much I liked it. One of the best pork belly vermicelli bowls I've ever had! The generous portion of pork belly was perfectly cooked and tender and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. The flavors balanced perfectly and the noodles were cooked how I like them; they weren't mushy. My husband had the same thing and enjoyed it as much as I did. We also shared a plate of imperial rolls and loved their crispy shell and flavorful filling. Food was ready quickly and the lady who runs the place was friendly and kind. This place should be called Boo Boo's. First of all the picture of the sandwich in the window has plenty of meat in it, but the sandwich that you get barely has any meat at all.
