When we were going to seat down the short bald headed guy yelled at us and said "NO, NOT HERE" and sat us against the wall. Then he came to drop off the menu and basically slammed it on the table. The whole time he seems irritated and was kicking the chairs he was putting back in place. I'm not sure it's a culture thing but I know good customer service is universal. The place doesn't look clean and the menu was sticky and so was the table. YUCK we decided to stay because we were hungry and parking sucks there I had to go around a few times to park. After a long walk around Dolores park and looking at stores, we decided to try this place. Restaurant is small but cute. The aroma as you enter the restaurant made you very hungry! The man who greeted us was very nice. We sat by the window. it was not busy at all. Place is clean and quiet. They only had another couple there when we came in. We are a sucker for string beans and eggplant, so we ordered chicken with string beans and eggplant with spicy sauce and basil, rice on the side. The chicken was tender and the beans were cooked just right and still crispy. The sauce was tasty with the soy flavors. I love the eggplant! It had a lot of umami and the sauce was just delicious. Came here in a Friday for lunch. A couple of tables were occupied. I sat near the window. I ordered the imperial rolls from the appetizer and grilled pork and shrimp with rice form rice plates. The gentleman who looks like the owner came to take my order. He brought me water and utensils. He first brought the rolls and I ate them then he brought the rice dish but the plate was like a tower with the shrimp in top and one shrimp fell on the table as he was brining the dish. Firstly, they should just put shrimp on the side so it doesn't fall and the waiter should have acknowledged the shrimp falling. On the grilled items you can taste the gas from grill on the meat. Extremely solid spot. Their rice plates are very tastey and generous and has an option to do extra meat, which for meeting macro goals is pretty great and overall healthy. Their bahn mi's are pretty great too. The pho in my opinion is alright, nothing special, but also not bad. This is probably one of my most frequently visited spots in the Valencia district just due to how quick and good the food is, and their options are relatively healthy. While I usually only come here for the absolutely delicious Pho, specifically the seafood combo noodle soup made with Chicken Bone Broth and various varieties of their Beef Pho I which I normally eat alone taking myself on my own little lunch or dinner dates I have eaten here with friends and tasted their other cuisine which is just as delicious as their Bone Broth Pho. The place is small, intimate with limited seating so if you are planning on arriving with a group of 4 or more make sure you show up before or after the peek crowded lunch and dinner hours. Which is usually between 11am and 1 pm for the lunch crowd and around 6 pm for the dinner crowd. The staff don't rush, the art and furniture gives a traditional Vietnamese feel to it. You can have water or hot tea to drink though unlike more fancy Vietnamese restaurants the hot tea is served in the same type of glass as the water instead of a traditional tea mug so make sure it's cooled enough before having some or you may burn yourself unintentionally. The service is fast, the ingredients fresh, at first I thought the service was somewhat abrasive but I was simply misinterpreting the more casual atmosphere and type of place with abrasiveness. The staff are all very nice and direct and if you become a regular they will quickly know your "usual" including any preferences (for me it is the Seafood Combination Noodke Soup OR the Rare Steak and Flank Beef Noodle Soup always with hot tea) and I always come prepared to tip well. One thing that I also like about this place is it's prices. It's pretty affordable and reasonable and ideal for its location in the heart of the Mission a block away from the transportation hub at 16th&Mission. My huge bowl of Pho normally is around $17-$18, most drinks don't surpass $5 and all their entrees are around the same price range with a few around the $22 range but the portions are excellent for solitary dining or for sharing. I haven't tried some of their famous appetizers yet that almost everyone around me seems to order but the time will arrive eventually. Their bathroom is gender neutral and single stall and clean and nestled in the back which just adds to the comfy homely feeling combined with the friendly casual employees. They accept cash and every form of payment too so don't shy away if all you have is cash or you don't have any cash. I have quickly become a regular here and often come here 2-3 times a week for a late lunch or early dinner. read more

This is my go to spot in my neighborhood when I need some Vietnamese food. This place is pretty tiny so I wouldn't say it's good for groups. Service is very fast here and it can get busy during lunch hour. Something I notice is they don't tend to be very guest oriented. I've never experienced this, but I've seen them move parties of 2 sitting at a 4 top, to a smaller table after they're already seated to make room for bigger parties at a 4 top. I also observed them asking a single person to move 2 times to make room for bigger parties. My guess is they don't want a wait to start. Additionally, in the middle of our meal, the rolled out the compost bin through the center of the restaurant and it was so filled with food scraps that the lid was propped open and I could smell it.
