We enjoyed their chicken wings, which were tasty, and the tiger prawns with garlic noodles were delicious! The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. We're so glad we dined in; the ambiance was very authentic. Parking was a bit tricky, but we can't wait to go again.

Sunflower is located on a corner in Potrero Hill surrounded by other cute local shops and restaurants. We often pass by it when driving or walking through the area but haven't had a chance to try it yet until today! We ordered: 1. The beef pho -- 7.5/10, good broth with just okay meat quality 2. BBQ pork vermicelli with imperial rolls -- 8/10, the grilled lemongrass pork was really good but I wished there was more The restaurant itself is pretty small and seems to get pretty busy; however, food is served quick so you'll be in and out in no time! It's definitely a no-frills type of place so don't expect spectacular service. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a "go to" Vietnamese spot in the area but haven't had much luck. I would say overall, this is a solid spot for San Francisco and would be worth going if you're around the area but not somewhere I would go out of my way to eat at. We usually have to make the drive out to Daly City or the Sunset for some decent pho, but nothing in SF will be as good as San Jose.

After a busy climbing session, I was in a need of a quick refuel and Sunflower Vietnamese called to me due to their house specialty garlic noodles. For me, this ultimately was a solid choice! The prawns were seriously JUMBO - like one butterflied prawn was bigger than my hand. I understand why there were only four in my to-go order. The noodle portion was huge as well - I ate the leftovers for several days long after I ran out of prawns. As some of the reviews mentioned, I did think the service was a bit gruff. But, being Vietnamese myself, I understand that is also just how some Vietnamese people sound - not really any particular attitude or treatment by the staff. I would definitely come back to satiate any garlic noodle cravings if I was in the area.

I absolutely love the whole menu at Sunflower! I noticed that they recently upped their prices by two dollars each item, but even with the price increase, Sunflower remains one of the most affordable restaurants in Potrero Hill, and San Francisco. When you walk in, you are instantly greeted by staff, although a bit standoffish they are extremely kind and welcoming, they're just busy! A party of two can expect to be seated very quickly with little to no wait. I will advise though that they tend to take a mid afternoon lunch for an hour where they shut down the whole restaurant, this is around 3 PM. They do not publicize this so be warned! All of the food is made fresh and brought out quickly. This is the type of restaurant that has no surprises no fuss and is simply about serving good food.

Shrimp garlic noodle ($11.95) - 2.5 stars. Very plain, no greens, exactly 5 pieces of shrimp buried under the noodles. Sat dinner 2025-04-26

Very low 3 stars overall. Just an ok spot. 15-20 minute wait on a Saturday around 6pm for seven people. They weren't full, but they just didn't have a big enough table for our group at that moment. Parking found fairly easily within a block. Service was a little abrupt and they overall seemed annoyed we were there (3 adults, 4 kids). * Shrimp garlic noodle ($11.95) - 2.5 stars. Very plain, no greens, exactly 5 pieces of shrimp buried under the noodles. * Chicken soup noodles ($13.95) - 3 stars. Fine for the kids, the chicken was very overcooked and dry.

Pretty flavorful broth! However, there was barely any meat and it was very dry. Plenty of seating and no waiting time! Good service!

We come here whenever we are in the area. The food is consistently good at reasonable prices and the staff are very kind. We enjoyed our lunch- so yummy!

The food here was amazingly delicious. I chose to eat here because it is a 15 minute walk from my apartment. The pineapple fried rice was perfectly cooked. The service was very nice. The cashier was a very polite and friendly person. I highly recommend people try this small but nice Vietnamese restaurant. I give them 5 stars

Went here for a weekday lunch for a comfort meal and got seated immediately. Ordered the beef pho and got it pretty quickly. They give you a side of bean sprouts, lime, and mint. The broth was pretty decent but I'm a bit disappointed the beef pho didn't have anything beyond slices of beef so that's why I'm giving it 4 stars.

Decent Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. Not the best Vietnamese in the city, but pretty good with fast service and close by parking. For a Vietnamese Restaurant, they don't have much of a section of noodle soup types (just i of each type - chicken, beef, seafood and tofu), no combos, no meatball, tripe, tendon or any of that. I often get the pho, rare beef or seafood. I order the rare beef on the side and it is more tender than when they just put it directly in the soup. The bags of sprouts, peppers and basil are small - so make sure to ask for another if it's not enough.

solid food in the heart of potrero hill on 18th street! honestly i can't say this place is super authentically vietnamese, but the food was still very enjoyable. service was great and prices were very affordable in terms of portions. ambiance is casual. the clay pot special was good but didn't contain much seafood at all, only 2-3 shrimps. the vietnamese grilled lemongrass chicken was a little dry/hard but the sauce was really delicious! my favorites were the shrimp spring roll and the curry eggplant! overall, really wonderful flavors and i'd recommend if you're craving some big portions and affordable asian food!

It was an 8 to 10 course meal (couldn't keep track) and it was hands-down one of the most delicious meals I've eaten. Every dish was sooooo good and perfectly cooked. And we were at table full of foodies with super high standards. We were so impressed by it and it was so unexpected. It could've been a Michelin star rated restaurant because it was that good. I think of all of the dishes, my most favorite was the caviar topped, shrimp, appetizer, and the beef carpaccio. Also, the bartenders were perfection as well. Every cocktail was so good. I can't say enough good things about this place! Will definitely be returning!

Server seems to hate the job and not wants to be there. We got the lemon grass chicken I give this 3/10. I highly suggest to pass on this one. The Bo luc lac "shaken beef", it is not your typical Vietnamese dish. The rice portion was more than the meat and potatoe itself. We literally got 5 piece of beef and like 13 piece of potato. It was like a 80/20 ratio. Maybe also due to that the meat was smaller cube size and the potato was cut a bit chunkier. They try to fill you up with the starch and make the plate seem more than what it is. If you get a regular shaken beef dish at other places, it's usually a lot of beef and bell peppers and even a nice salad to accommodate it. The beef tastes good for the 5 pieces they gave. But I rather would get the same meal for $22 at another spot and that itself will fill me up versus getting this for $26. Not worth it. The flavor of the dish was on point just not the portion and pricing on it. I don't think is fair. 6.5/10 Beef pho was really terrible. I never tasted pho like that ever before. Soup doesn't even taste like it's been cooking for hours with aromatics or even beef bones or onions and ginger. Taste like it came from a seasoning bag from a pho in a bag from the store and they strained it to get the impurities out and it taste like flavor Starnaise water. Or possibly made a couple hours from us receiving it. Again this is my personal opinion. 3/10
