Overall a good upscale Vietnamese experience! Dishes are on the more "high end" side of typical Vietnamese dishes but everything tasted like it was made with high quality ingredients and felt healthier than a more traditional Vietnamese restaurant. The restaurant itself was very vibey with good background music and the staff were all friendly. I enjoyed the dishes I ordered - I recommend the banh beo and banh cuon. The lychee pandan dessert was tasty! Good experience for special occasions. They take a Polaroid of you on your birthday!

Outstanding!!! If you're looking for upscale Vietnamese, this is the place to be. Sultry vibes, friendly service and food and drink that are hard to match! Took the servers suggestions and did not regret a thing. Shared plates make for a fun evening. Great date night spot!

We got the Chef's Tasting Menu at $90/pp. This is one of the cheaper restaurants where you can use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $150 dining credit. 1. A plate with 2 raw oysters and 2 rice cakes on the side. The oysters had a tart and herbal flavor. The rice cakes were soft and moist, topped with uni and cilantro, with hints of dried shrimp. The uni had a mild, sweet taste. 2. Banh Khot caviar: Two shrimp cakes, lightly fried until crisp, topped with caviar, on a bed of butter lettuce. The caviar was briny but smooth. 3. Bo tai chanh: beef carpaccio, to be shared. It was bright and acidic, topped with marinated onions, fried onions, and a lime. 4. Kale avocado salad: kale, cherry tomato, avocado, sunflower seeds, and tangerines. The ingredients were fresh and high-quality, but nothing distinctive here. 5. Lemongrass clams, topped with thinly sliced pineapple, with a tart dipping sauce in the middle. Well-seasoned with balanced flavors and textures. 6. Bun cha: Sliced pork belly pieces, meatballs, and carrots in a sweet and savory sauce, with rice vermicelli and fresh lettuce and herbs on the side. This was full of umami and one of my favorite items. 7. Pho: We chose one beef and one chicken. They came in small bowls; pretty standard, but maybe slightly richer broth than usual. 8. Matcha mille-feuille: A perfect end to the dinner. Rich and creamy without being overly sweet. Overall, a good sampling of elevated Vietnamese cuisine. Price-wise, this is a decent but not exceptional value compared to ordering a la carte; the main advantage is the curated lineup (especially to those of us who have never been before) and the few items that are off-menu.

As a Vietnamese American who grew up eating homemade viet food and have always hated more fancy viet restaurants since most of the time - it's just the classics on a fancier plate - I LOVED BODEGA SF. Service was excellent - warm and always down to help. Ambiance is nice - also warm and cozy but still cute enough for a date night. The food was stellar. Vietnamese dishes elevated and served in new ways. The Bun Rieu special was a standout - it was pretty much Bun Rieu in a pasta / dry form - got all the flavors on point and had me craving more. The canh chua sea bass and thit kho mushrooms were also a huge hit!! I really loved this experience and would for sure go back. My friends and I all wanted to bring back our parents lol. Thanks Bodega!

We kicked off the night with the Bánh Bò Gimlet, which set the tone for an amazing meal. It came garnished with a small pandan leaf, and every time you sip, the aromatic pandan fragrance hits you first--making the rich pandan flavor shine through even more! The appetizers were absolute dynamite. We tried the day's special stuffed wings--boneless wings stuffed with scallops, shrimp, and meat paste that were incredibly crisp, deeply savory, and served piping hot (be careful on that first bite!). The tuna tartare served on crunchy taro chips was wonderfully balanced--honestly, my only wish was for a few more chips because the flavor was so good. For mains, the tender beef cheek over celeriac mash with crispy enoki mushrooms and the rich Thịt Kho mushroom dish were both hits. Pro tip: definitely order a side of rice to soak up all those rich, delicious sauces! We wrapped up with dessert: the Mango Crepe Cake and the Lychee Ice Cream with a warm Pandan Mochi Bar. A quick strategy tip: eat the delicate mango crepe cake first! The pairing of the cool lychee ice cream over the warm, chewy pandan mochi bar is so vibrant and delicious that it will completely steal the show if you start with it. Can't wait to come back for more!

Stopped by on a Monday at 6pm without a reservation and was told a 2 hour wait for our party of two. We decided to wait because my friend wanted to use her Chase Reserve dining credits before they expired in July. After 2.5 hours, we were seated at the bar, which is reserved for walk-ins while the tables are for reservations. The bartenders were friendly, offered great recommendations, and service was quick. We order 2 cocktails each, 3 shared plates, and an appetizer. Everything was good, but nothing stood out enough to justify the long wait.

Came here after a long day of work and it was really solid food! Good: - This place is beautiful! It's so nicely lit - Great for a date or 1-1 catchup - The crab fat fried rice was amazing! - I also really liked the vermicelli dish but it was so small - the sauce was so good! Bad: - Pretty expensive food, ended up paying $88 for 2 people - Took a while to get our food - The portions are really small for how much you pay Overall wouldn't come again unless I had a gift certificate - it's so expensive.

Nice upscale viet cuisine. Came here for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Dining Credit. Appetizers: - Oysters w/ Smoked Trout Roe ($15): Soo good! I definitely wanted to order multiple of this and it was my favorite out of everything I ate. - Banh Khot Caviar ($16): The flavor was good but it was only a single banh khot. - Banh Beo ($19): Flavor was good and what you'd expect from banh beo but wish it had a little more crispy stuff on top for texture. - Blue Fin Tuna Tartare ($19): Yummy and a good portion for two. Hot Dishes: - Crab Fat Fried Rice ($36): Delicious! It would be even better with additional protein. - Beef Cheek Special ($42, was off the menu): Super tender and tasty but definitely got tired of it quickly. I feel like it needed some kind of texture along with it since everything on the plate was soft throughout. Personally I don't think I would get this dish again since I'm big on texture. Overall it was good with a variety of dishes. Everything was $147 before tax and tip so was a great choice for the Chase Sapphire $150 dining credit.

We had Bodega on our list for quite a while so were hyped to finally be able to give it a try. The aesthetic is not what I expected, lots of dark colored wood on the walls, floor and furniture. I assume at night time it had a dark and moody feel but, in the daytime, it made the interior look quite tired. Onto the food, we ordered the very popular Bun Cha and Shaking Beef. The Bun Cha was good but the Shaking Beef was great! So tender and marinated to perfection. My one big complaint is that the portion sizes are about 3/4 of what I would typically expect. Our waiter was attentive and took time to explain the dishes. Though it didn't quite meet the hype (for me), I'm glad I finally checked it off the list.

We had a really good birthday dinner here. We ordered 4 dishes, and it was so much food that we couldn't finish. The beef cheek special (off the menu, $42) was my favorite. The meat was so tender and the crispy onions and celery puree gave great textural contrast. We also really enjoyed the pork belly and meat balls appetizer ($30). The fish sauce it came it was so delicious! The crab fried rice was also super rich and delicious, and the tenderloin ($46) had a lot of rich meaty flavor. For dessert, we got the pandan mochi bar which came with lychee ice cream ($16). The ambiance was very nice too, great for a date night.

Ambiance: 4.5*s Food: 4.5*s Surrounding neighborhood: 1* Parking situation: 1* Came here on a Friday afternoon for a lunch date. Driving around to find parking here was a pure nightmare. The surrounding streets were filled with people living on the streets and leaving the car even if we managed to find an empty spot felt unsafe. The restaurant recommended us to use 233 Ellis to park, they mentioned we could get a discount there. We only learnt later that there is no discount on the $20 per hour ticket on Friday and Saturday. **AMBIANCE: the inside is a stark contrast to the going ons outside. Place is cosy but feels hip and well done. Makes for a cosy date place if you ignore the situation outside. **SERVICE: very friendly and they didn't force me to order and let me sit at my table for more than 20 mins or so while my dining partner was driving around trying to find parking. **FOOD: Modern elevated Vietnamese cuisine. *Lemongrass grilled wings-3.5/5- can be better especially with infusion of flavors, *Shaking beef:5/5- best dish on our table. Indulgence especially with the amount of butter used but well worth it. Flavors are splendid. *Hoi an chicken rice-4/5- broth was amazing. Rice was great. Chicken was cold and flavorless! *Vietnamese chicken salad-3.5/5-sweet dressing which I didn't fancy much. Veggies were sufficiently nice and crunchy. Chicken was boiled and cold. *Dry hu tieu-3.5/5- not a memorable dish but the same chicken broth as before which we loved. *Spring roll-4/5 Overall a good menu and some memorable dishes. Prices are decent as well.

Bodega is a cute and small Vietnamese restaurant near Union Square. If you weren't looking for it specifically, it's easy to miss! I came here with a party of 5 to celebrate a birthday and we're sat at the very front in a large, comfortable booth. FOOD: We ordered a bunch of items on their menu, from Bo Tai Chanh, Banh Cuon, Bun Cha to the Bo Luc Lac. Everything was rich in flavor with healthy portion sizes. The crowd favorite was definitely the Bun Cha, which was deep in spices and ultimately leaving everyone wanting another order or even something to take home for the next day. SERVICE: The food came out quickly once we placed our order. Additionally, we celebrated a birthday and they added a candle to our dessert. The staff at Bodega made it even more special because they took a Polaroid of us as a souvenir. I loved my experience at Bodega and can't wait to bring other friends and family here to try out their dishes!

I went today with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday. The food was amazing and so was the service. Our waiter was extremely kind and accommodating to a dairy allergy in our group. We all ordered the 12 course Bodega tasting meal. The food was served in small bites but also family style and it was all delicious. The portions were huge, the second to last meal was a bowl of pho and we all ended up taking it home because of how stuffed we were. The most memorable dish was the Bahn Knot Caviar and the Bun Cha. I will definitely go back to try the Chim Quay one day!

This is a gorgeous spot; the detail from the welcoming greens sign, to the cozy lighting, tasteful religious kitsch, and well thought out style, we had a wonderful visit. The decor made us explore the bar before we sat down; they have tables and different seating areas around, but it seemed like the bar was the place to be. They have a full selection of liquor, plus a cocktail menu, and killer tap list of mostly local draft beer. I absolutely loved their glassware too! The bartender was very friendly; I failed to notice the tap list above the bar was different from the menu so I was glad that was pointed out for my second beer. Prices are reasonable for the experience of being here. The other clientele at the bar were also friendly, it has a neighborhood vibe but is welcoming to all.

It was busy on a Saturday night without feeling overwhelming and the whole place had a really fun relaxed energy to it. The staff was also fantastic and super helpful with all of our questions. We tried an Old Fashioned and the Third Rail cocktail, which was similar to a sour, and both were phenomenal. Seriously some amazing drinks. We didn't get a chance to try any of their jerky this time around, but we'll definitely be back for it!

The parts that weren't tongue burning spicy were so flavorful though - The red eye: the espresso rub was subtle but a fun contrast - The thicc Jim: better than any slim Jim or chomp stick you'll ever eat.
