There was so much wrong with my visit. For the prices, I expected a regular luxury spa, not a place like Russian Bath House. But this was worse than The Russian Bath House for much more money. This is why I will NOT be returning: Rude and disorganized reception at the front desk Unsanitary: -Employees led tours into the wet lounge while employee and customers wore street shoes. -Never cleaned wet lounge after 3 hours; lemons from complimentary water pitcher remained spilled on the floor entire time, as well as used cups. -No disposable hair brushes or combs. Only one hair brush and comb to be reused They do not provide slippers. You must pay $3 for flip flops or bring your own. They do not notify customers or this on the phone, website, or even at first check-in. I had to walk barefoot from the locker room to the front desk to ask to buy the flip flops. A manager condescendingly asked me why I was barefoot; I replied, because you didn't provide me with slippers or notify me that I had to bring my own! They run out of towels constantly. Main lounge is cold and only has uncomfortable straight backed chairs. Food was left on tables for a long time. One hair dryer in the locker room; broke after 2 minutes of use. All in all, awful. So much to say...decided to do a spa day for a friends bday when we called to set it up we were told if we wanted to be booked @ the same time we had to book as a group (4 of us)& a 200dlr depoist was required 50 per person COOL NP....my friend put it on her card (nikki) & we were told each person could pay their balance @ the end COOL NP....day of...we get there they only have 3 as a group I'm in some STRANGERS group ok np fix it keep it moving...we thought it was great that u could bring your own wine so we brought 3bottles...theres a 10dlr corking fee per bottle....locker room clean...NO towels...get to the lounge area request a bucket of ice & wine glasses....NOOOO WINE GLASSES they ran out they give us 4 plastic tumblers im like WTF this is a SPA no wine glasses, eventually ppl leave they wash out some & bring them to us...the glasses & the tumblers were plastic & looked old & scratched up like they were washed with SOS pads and they stripped the plastic...we order chips & guacamole, this lady brings us out 2 plates of broken up chips this shit was the crumbs in the bottom of the bag WTF how r u supposed to dip we had to request for whole chips, the dip was BIG chunks of avacado idk where the hell they get this lady from she said she crumbles up the chips like that...WHYYYYY smh...moving forward I had a body polish by a girl name SHASHANNA she did a great job..we when got out the shower there were NO clean towels...time to PAY & go....it took us 45 MIN to check out, we each wanna know our balance they can't figure it out, they STILL had me booked with a group I didn't know & they had the cc used for the deposit in MY name I told u in the beginning NIKKI made the deposit on her card, how the fuck do u have me in group b paying for group a with a card thats not mine the manager TERRANCE is a fucking idiot his only solution was to refund the 200dlrs on the card & start over the card holder said NOOOO just tell me the balance I will put it on my card, tell US what our individual service fees are & we will settle it later....this IDIOT TERRANCE goes in the back & does the refund anyway I swear it was a mess, then when mentioned the chips & guacamole they said THE FOOD IS NOT RAN BY BBB ITS RAN BY *** I said thats a stupid excuse *** represents BBB they are making you look bad...THE 1 THING THEY DID GET RIGHT WAS THE DAMN CORKING FEE they knew exaclty how many bottles we opened even though they didn't know how many we brought in, they should have been washing towels, cleaning glasses & telling the cook not to grumble up the damn chips instead of watching us....I almost forgot this lady that had to go off on them cuz her locker key wouldn't work & she came to the front 3times for help & nobody went to help her, another lady came out & asked for towelSSSS they bring her 1she said WOW I was hoping to get 1 for my friend 2 DAMN lol.... bottom line WE will never go here again....O THANK YOU TO THE 1 YOUNG LADY THAT FINALLY GOT THE BILL RIGHT SHE SHOULD REPLACE TERRANCE HE'S A IDIOT!!!......this 1 star isn't mine YELP is forcing it on me read more

I went to BBB this past Saturday as a birthday gift to a pregnant friend. Overall the ambiance is nice, and modern. The receptionist and staff were friendly and helpful. It was my first time having a wet lounge experience, and although it was a good experience I was a bit let down for few reasons: - Super NOISY! I was there for a relaxing time, but clearly others were there to ham it up! Staff did not tell them to quiet it down. But the fact that there was a bar serving alcohol probably contributed to the party like atmosphere. They have private rooms at a RIDICULOUS additional expense. Granted it may have been my bad luck that there were several groups of girlfriends there together, but I wanted to relax. - Hot tub was lukewarm and small - it seats about 6 - 10 max and that is pushing it!! I complained about the temperature and they gave me a complimentary wet lounge visit. - The locker rooms are entirely too small, both the space and the lockers. I think this is a major design flaw, because the space overall is huge, why they chose to create 3 mini locker suites with at least 20 lockers in each is crazy. I may have been there on a busy day, but we were on top of each other, trying to change into and out of bathing suits etc..NOT COOL Women have a lot of 'stuff' and we need room to get dressed. - ONE BATHROOM in the locker room!! you have to go outside of the locker room to get to the stalls. - Generic toiletries!! For the amount of money they charge for service, they can buy better products. They frequently ran low on towels but I was never without one. I had a great deep tissue massage, intense but good. I had a male massage therapist, he improved my flexibility and range of motion dramatically,...and I didnt even know I had a problem until he pointed it out. He was also able to tell me things I was doing that contributed to my issues and he was SPOT on!! This was the best massage I ever had and I've had many! My friend had the prenatal - she loved it, she is five months pregnant and she also had a male massage therapist. She said he was thorough and very careful about how he was engaging her body. Overall I had a good experience and made an appointment to come back because of the massage therapist. The wet lounge experience was a let down because of the hot tub. But they did apologize and offered to have me come back when it was fixed. They did not do space planning/design well at all. Alot of wasted space. They should have more than one hot tub, a bigger cold pool and fewer showers. There are more showers in the wet lounge than in the Locker Rooms .... go figure. I was so excited to go back to Body by Brooklyn! Several weeks prior to the NYC Marathon I had booked 2 services on their website. I was going the day after the marathon to pamper myself and recover from my first Marathon. The day before the marathon they called me to say that they had made a mistake on their website and one of the services i had an appointment for couldn't be honored. Instead they offered me a more expensive service as an alternative. I asked if perhaps they could honor the service, as it was their mistake, and I had made the appointment on their online website, and it was such short notice. They refused. The choice they gave me was to pay for the more expensive service OR cancel my appointment. I cancelled. What horrible customer service...if you make an appointment for someone-honor it. This was the worst spa experience. Too expensive, large facility, tiny whirlpool. The food was horrible, we were asked to save our PLASTIC forks... Plastic cups are used. We paid for 2 treatments, a massage and a scrub... the scrub was given to us in the form of a cup of seat salt we had to rub on ourselves while in the sauna. 3 showers 1 out of order. No available towels had to look for the staff to get the basics. Today I took my pregnant sister for a relaxing day at the spa. NOT! We waited an hour and 10 minutes for our food to come. When I asked about it the response was "we have a spa party" I was confused to say the least. Did not know what that had to do with other paying customers. After we ate which the food was horrible lumpy grits and hard waffles we proceeded to the wet lounge. The spa party was literally a spa PARTY!! Loud and they took up the whole area ! NO WHERE TO SIT THEY HAD A TOTAL OF 7 lounge chairs and a wooden bench. I spoke with the front desk and was told we can sit on the hard bench. My SISTER IS 6 months pregnant sit on a bench!! So the manager bought us chairs. So we left! Where is the relaxation on a bench? They ruined our whole day. HORRIBLE! Never will return If you can handle more than a spa party you should not book other PAYING CUSTOMERS. NEXT THE BBB. I WANT.A FULL REFUND THIS WAS NOT A RELAXING DAY. STRESSFUL!! So my Hubby & I decided to ease into the week by going to BBB since it was fairly close to us. The facilities were clean and because it was a Monday afternoon it was pretty quiet and empty (which we loved!) the pools are pretty small and in my opinion could comfortably fit 5 people at most. The area smelled like fried food - I think it's great they sell food/beverages but perhaps having aromatherapy or someone to frequently air the space would be welcomed!The steam room room was pretty big and even had a massage table inside (luckily I got a massage from my husband lol). There are 2 saunas- one that is warm and the other that was SCALDING hot! When I tried to sit in the latter one, I burned the back of my knees as the benches are stone (which obviously holds heat!) with wood only on the actual seating part! The locker rooms have codes so no actual locks are needed, but many of them were not working when we stopped in. A shvitz is a shvitz so this place gets the job done! Visited for the first time today with my partner. Overall, we had a great, relaxing time. Positives: very clean, very good spa services (I received a great facial and my partner enjoyed the sea salt scrub/massage). Prices are moderate and the staff was friendly. We were able to make appointments for spa services when we walked in. Negatives: Spa seems quite short staffed, and receptionist confused our spa treatments on multiple levels. The wet lounge - which we definitely enjoyed - was much smaller than we had imagined and only had one Jacuzzi! I can't imagine how the weekend crowd must deal with this. As more people arrived, it was harder to order food and drinks (which were all great) or obtain add-on services (such as salt scrubs and detox packs in the wet lounge). I also ended up waiting 30 minutes for my spa treatment, because I was told by the receptionist that it was 15 minutes earlier than it actually was, then they were running 15 minutes behind. One minor thing - we did not bring flip flops, nor were asked at reception if we needed them. Assuming they would be provided in the locker room, I was forced to return to the front desk to purchase 2 pairs (which were, to be fair, very moderately priced). But it would have been nice to be asked when we checked in. I give my experience 3 stars because of the confusion among the staff which definitely decreased the overall experience, which could be avoided if they bulked up their personnel. Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely return - even if one does not get spa treatments, the $45 fee to use the wet lounge is well worth it. read more

I spent the day here yesterday with my best girlfriend and had a great time. We had brunch, enjoyed the wet lounge, and each had a treatment. I had the 90 minute hot stone massage with Dorothy, and it was wonderful. She managed to eliminate a Brooklyn sized knot in my left shoulder. Maybe because it was a holiday weekend, but it was pretty quiet and there were times when we had various sections of the wet lounge to ourselves. The front desk people seemed a little confused, but were friendly and tried to be helpful. Don't let whatever ridiculous construction project they are doing under the BQE throw you off, once you're inside it is quiet and relaxing. Overall, the place is clean and well cared for. Had a Birthday party there recently, & the ladies & I really enjoyed this place. Loved that invites were sent online where everyone had the opportunity to select & pay for their own package prior to the date. Payments are not auto taken although online - they charge the group at the same time on date & time specified, & work with those needing an extra day. Helpful for those not sure when RSVP, as you need to provide card info to RSVP. Brunch & special drink made for the event - fantastic! Place was clean, really nice, & comfortable. My massage was amazing! Highly recommend. Skylar the event planner is very patient - trust I made her earn her $$$ with my need to make sure everything went smooth lol. read more

My Body By Brooklyn experience was less than desirable. My fiancé and I decided to go here after the Brooklyn Half Marathon on March 16, 2015. I will start with the so called pros: 1. There was a decent amount of parking directly in front of the building; 2. they only have three showers, but they are huge and can fit a half dozen people inside one; and 3. the staff, although they could have been a little bit more on the professional side, they weren't horrible. The restaurant/bar area was ok, but not very tidy. The sauna/steam room area was cool in that it was co-ed, but the cold plunge pool was out of order - not that anyone was really interested in plunging into a pool of cold water anyway. I purchased the Swedish massage - which is my favorite and I get a Swedish massage at least once a month. My massage was set to start at either 2 or 3pm and my therapist's name was Boris. I arrived at the waiting area approximately 8 minutes before my scheduled massage. However, my therapist didn't show up until 20 minutes later. I was waiting so long, that I asked the person (who I assumed was the manager) to make sure I had the time correct. She came back and said that he should be out shortly. I then waited another 10 minutes. When Boris come out to greet me, he looked a little weird and was speak so low that I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. It was as if he was high or something. When we got into the room, I explained to him that I was ticklish on my knees (I know it sounds crazy), but if he could please not touch that area b/c it is uncomfortable. He told me to lie on my back. face up - which I thought was strange. Like I said above, I get massages all the time and I've been asked to start my massage laying on my back. When he came back into the room, he told me to put both arms behind my head and started to apply lotion under my arm right next to my armpit which is a very sensitive area. I had the right mind to get up and leave but my body was exhausted from the race and I really didn't want to make a scene. He kept just lightly touching me with lotion and then when he got to my knees, he kept touching my knee! I informed him on several occasions to stop touching my knee and to also stop just applying lotion. I paid for a massage and expect that. He kept apologizing but doing the same thing. When I turned on to my stomach, he never really massaged my back but kept trying to tickle my armpits, rubbing his fingers between my toes, sliding his hand from my lower back to buttocks area, and pressing my head into the massage table. I finally made him stop because I was so tense and uncomfortable that I could not take it anymore. I felt so violated and disgusted that I immediately went to the front desk and complained. The young lady look at me with a blank stare and very much uninterested in what I had to say. I asked if anyone else ever complained about this guy and she said "never". At this point, I was in a rush and didn't have time to take it to a manager. I'm not a complainer, but I have to say that it was the worst experience of my life! If you ever go to Body By Brooklyn, I would advise you to NEVER get a massage from Boris. read more

I decided to have a pre birthday celebration here. We all paid for the wet lounge. The jacuzzi was cool, but like others have stated in previous reviews, it can't hold too many people. I ordered one drink which was called Peach Bliss, although I enjoyed the drink, I thought it was extremely pricey! The towels weren't replenished often. Once the water ran out, that was it. We had to drink water from the fountain. All in all I enjoyed my experience for what it was. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !! First let me start by saying, I'm 21 years old. I do not have time for these Yelp reviews but I just HAD to make one for this terrible experience I had. Okay so my best friend and I found this place on groupon for $30 entry.. We were debating between spa castle and body by Brooklyn being that it was a Sunday .. & after We read through the ENTIRE groupon to make sure the coupon was valid on weekends, we purchased it. We finally get there and the lady at the front desk simply said this groupon isn't available on weekends, even after we informed her that we read through the entire group on and even showed it to her.. Her manager was right behind her and he didn't even chime in to say ANYTHING. Anyways we already made our way down there so we just paid the $50 extra to get in. . Okay so first things first .. My locker was broken as took as I touched it the entire lock fell off. Then as we received a tour of the spa we realized it's only ONE room.. There's no pool, one jacuzzi and one cold bath that can fit 1 person at a time & that is all. This spa is the size of my bathroom! In the description on group on and pictures you'll think there's about 6 rooms! NOPE. We went to order drinks to somewhat make the best of our trip and the same person who was at the front was making drinks. They did not have any sangria, no dark liquor, just ONE drink was available on the menu out of about 6. My best friend and I got our drinks (that were good! ) and she ends up dropping hers so they had to make her a new one.. But didn't have any more ice or cranberry juice -_-.. And they told her that was the last call for drinks. It was 5pm!!!! The spa closes at 8!!! To find out they ran out of liquor. Finally we go for our massages, they then inform us that it is too late to get them !! Even after we asked what's the latest to go and she said 6:30pm. Omg just a terrible terrible experience, the WORST spa experience ever. I don't understand how you don't have ice, liquor, chasers OH AND FOOD!!!! THE KITCHEN WAS CLOSED THIS SUNDAY!!! I took my mother to Body by Brooklyn for Mother's Day and let me just say it was fantastic. I booked the VIP Suite Rental for 1hr which included private jacuzzi, sauna, fruit and champagne it was very relaxing. We also had free access to the other part of the spa which included another jacuzzi, cold plunge bath, sauna and steam room. The Staff was very friendly, the food was great and we really enjoyed our time spent there. I definitely recommend and will be going back soon. read more

**UPDATED REVIEW** Body by Brooklyn is REFUSING to offer a refund to my 2 guests who were assaulted by another guest stating that "they're sorry our trip was less than satisfactory". As mentioned in my review, the assailant was so hostile that cops had to be involved. I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I also want to point out that on their facebook page reviews and comments have been disabled. They know they are not handling this correctly and don't have the maturity or decency to do what is right. If I could give 0 stars I would. Where do I begin? When we arrived we were told we wouldn't be allowed in unless we paid $250 (btw, all that gets you is a bottle of cheap champagne and some fruit, no thank you!) but our bride could go in because she had a massage booked. Then we got into the spa and it was not as advertised. Website states there are Jacuzzis and plunge pools - correction, there is 1 of each and they did not appear very clean. I'm sorry, but $45 dollars for that? I don't think so! Lastly, two of my guests were assaulted by another guest and although management tried to have that guest removed, they did not offer us ANYTHING. To make matters worse, we had to check out amidst all the cops and the hysterical assailant. So much for relaxing! Not only was the spa extremely overpriced for what you get, it was a horrible experience and management did not care in the least. Like another reviewer said, "it's my own fault for going here despite the bad reviews about how poorly this place is managed." Do not go here. Waste of money and for a little bit more you can get such a better place and no attitude. The woman of color manager was a jerk when we complained about the noise. She made the entire think about herself and kept lecturing us about not complaining earlier. WHAT? We decided to leave and she basically lectured us out the door. Completely unprofessional and full of her self. You will leave this place far more annoyed than you were when you ever walked in. On top of that, it's dirty. There were like 15 people in this tiny pool and you could see the scum floating on top, or maybe their spilled alcohol. Do not go here.
