If you're strolling Canyon Road to lookie-loo all the fancy-schmancy southwestern art, then you're…read morebound to see this popular watering hole and wonder, like Jamie W. and I did, whether it was worth a stop for a bite and a sip. It is albeit briefly. The patio was quite inviting though the live music was a tad dreary as she performed a weepy guitar as she sang. The bad news was really that their House Margarita was pretty watered down (photo: http://bit.ly/2KAcL47). Somewhat more passable were the $8.95 bowls we ordered. Jamie tried the Green Chile Stew which was meaty enough and provided a nice kick. The bolita beans and potatoes made it hearty, but the shredded cheddar was overkill (photo: http://bit.ly/2KBa7ew). Mine was the comparatively blander Pozole which they stress is homemade even though the tortillas tasted store bought (photo: http://bit.ly/2KIMl0j). Middling fare among the sculptures. FOOD - 3 stars...nothing too memorable here and a disappointing margarita AMBIANCE - 4 stars...best part of the meal was the patio SERVICE - 3.5 stars...kinda ok TOTAL - 3 stars...not a Grand Canyon find RELATED - Do you know the way to Santa Fe? Food was terrible with small portions and outrageous prices. Service was slow. I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get to our table. We sat outside. The musician on the keyboards was a nice touch, but the most annoying part to me was the constant interruption from a man in his eighties trying desperately to hustle us into buying something from his insanely overpriced western wear shop in the same plaza. He tried to guilt trip me into buying something for my fiance. I completely ignored him. He kept coming back for the hustle. Pointing to me he said "He said he'll buy you something." "I own the building" Blah Blah. We drove 800 miles to get here. We wanted privacy for conversation, NOT a hustle. And he never let up. Sat near us and kept yakking. The more I ignored him, the more he glared at me. They don't even come close to understanding that restaurant customers don't come there to listen to him trying to sell you his merch like a timeshare salesman. I felt like I was in a plaza in Barcelona's gothic quarter with people constantly coming to your table trying to manipulate you into buying a collapsable wooden bowl. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

It can get quite crowded in the winter time, but they do have an outside patio/courtyard that does open up a bit more space for seating come spring/summer/fall. The staff has been friendly in my experience, I can't say that I've ever had a negative experience thus far (knock on wood). Some random information: ~ A water station is available, which is a plus. ~ Parking is available, however, at busier times, you may have to find street parking and do some walking. And the best information: ~ If you happen to be a reader, there is a bookstore near by (Garcia Street Books) that opens around 10am, I believe. Coffee and books is always a win, a double win!

The space is large, and you can tell many locals gather there regularly, giving it a strong community feel. The service was okay: a man taking orders and handling the register was friendly and cordial, while the woman making the coffee was a bit dry in her demeanor. However, the coffee was excellent, so that didn't bother me at all. The croissants were soft, warm, and very tasty, a perfect match for the coffee. The café also features artwork hanging on the walls, (looks like they like cats very much ) and a small section of magazines and newspapers near the entrance, which I really enjoyed. The location is excellent, right next to a independent bookstore, making it a great stop before or after browsing books. Overall, I recommend this café for its quality coffee, relaxed atmosphere, and convenient location.

We tried a couple of different coffeeshops around Santa Fe, and this one was our favorite by far. I got the Murmuration of Starlings and it tasted just like the name! It was sweet without being too sweet and the rosemary, thyme and cardamom gave it a unique twist. This place is on the smaller side and there's not a whole lot of seating, although they do have a few outdoor spots. Our coffee orders also took a little bit to get, but we enjoyed that time reading their newspaper and coloring in their coloring book! Would definitely return here if I am in the area.

I'll taste their drip coffee and if it isn't any good, I'll keep going to the one I had planned." Listen, it's becoming more difficult to come by a good pour over, but good drip is like finding a unicorn. Not at Crash + Murder. The service was fantastic as barista allowed me a sip so I could make my call. It was delicious.
