I used to come here for happy hours, enjoyed their food but I just went recently last Monday and I thought they over charged me on some drinks so I call but I guess it was right. Then I went again that Friday bringing friends with me enjoy their food and we order food and drinks. Mind you I look at the receipt this time to make sure everything was right. But today when I look at my credit card they overcharge me. I tip them $20 cash and they going to charge me $20.02 on my credit card! All the changes they've made have been unfortunate. No more sauce bar by the self-serve water. You have to ask for it. But, it did taste better than the last time I came back in May 2022, so I will be back (after my last visit I was so disappointed that I had no interest in coming back, but this visit made up for it). It's a better value than competitors, like Tasty Pot (since Tasty is like $20/pot now). I also really like that they allow substitutions, which other places don't. Boba drinks taste the same - good as usual. Tried spicy edamame as well. I actually really liked it. They like fry the edamame, which gives it a very nice crispness. I like that they have variety of broths compared to other places. We ordered lamb lover and lobster hot pot besides spicy edamame and popcorn chicken for starters. The service is quite friendly and staff is attentive. I took off a star as I thought the wok they provide is small and can't accommodate all the ingredients, especially when you add noodles, causing the boiling broth to spill or the wok to tilt while stirring, making it dangerous and hazardous, especially if you are visiting with kids. My suggestion to them would be to serve the ingredients in separate dish/bowl and let the patrons decide how much quantity of each ingredient they want to add to the soup/boiling pot. read more

The service was the worst that I ever seen in my life. Today a friend found out this new open restaurant and we all 3 guys curiously wanted to try out for our lunch. We got there around 12:05 pm and the restaurant had the opening sign saying that lunch hour from 12 pm - 3 pm. We went inside we saw an unhappy waitress and one lady sat at very front table. We felt that the waitress was not very friendly and eager to serve customers. After she showed us which table to sit, 5 minutes later we still didn't see that she gave us the menu to order or water so we asked her for the menu then she told us to scan the small QR code on the small box like napkin box for the menu and pointed us to the corner table for self service water. Assuming the customers know how to get the menu and water for themselves is very stupid thinking from restaurant management point. Especially during lunch time, working customers only have an hour for lunch, so they need to be able to get their order quick so they can enjoy their lunch. In contrast, We got inside the restaurant 10 minutes and we didn't know what to order or didn't even have a cup of water and the waitress was not helpful while the restaurant was super empty. We left and went to La Bou restaurant next door to grab quick lunch since we were running out of time. I think the management owner needs to improve on this kind of service or soon no one will come here again. read more

Went here on Saturday evening. It's on a busy street on Howe Ave in Arden area across from Blue House Korean BBQ. This place serves individual size hot pots that can easily fit 2, maybe 3 guests. The ambiance is cozy with cute lightening and I absolutely love the personal Polaroid photos they have of guests they've come across from. The ceilings have beautiful handwriting. The service was decent, but could use a little more attention. For the 8+ tables being served, only 2 were front of house assisting one another so there were brief delays on requests. Water, utensils, and napkins are self serve. The menu is a QR code on the table that'll give you access online. If you need accommodation for allergens or make changes, they offer up to 3 substitutions of equal or lesser value. What I wasn't aware of are sauces, they have dipping sauces that you can request with your food. I had ordered the kimchi based broth and opted out of most of the seafood options as my gf doesn't eat seafood. The broth was delicious and light, but as the broth simmered, it would get thicker and have more depth in flavor! FYI ask for extra bowl to place food from the hotpot that'll you'll eat later. Miso pork- pork belly- pleasantly flavorful. I was hesitant on this one and was pleasantly surprised!!! Mussels in here and shrimp. Udon noodles. I love me a good hot pot so I'm always down to try new places. Here's what's different here compared to others I have been to: -You select your soup of choice off an extensive menu, as opposed to JUST picking your broth base. What that means is you are getting all the ingredients included in that soup, without the choice to alter them. Choose wisely! -Your soup is delivered to the table with all the (raw) ingredients already placed into the soup broth. The serving is generous, but bc of that the bowl is overloaded with items, making it difficult to cook without crowding. Also, there's no control over how you'd like your items cooked, since you can't drop ingredients into the pot in your preferred order. -Your waitress lights the gas cooktop so that your soup can start cooking, but there is no dial to adjust the intensity of the fire. Nor is there an off button. What ends up happening is once the broth gets boiling, it's impossible to keep the pot from spilling over or from over cooking your food (without getting your waitress involved). Plus, the gas smell was intense for some reason. We were literally breathing fumes while trying to enjoy the aromatics of the food. That was not enjoyable at all. And probably very unhealthy. I did like that you can order additional appetizers and sides. I also loved the affordable price of this place. The ambience was also good, with unique decor. I probably wouldn't be back, but don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself and perhaps you'll find you don't mind these things at all! read more

I tried this place recently and it was pretty good! I've been used to going to Boiling Point, so it was nice to try a different place for hotpot. I got the Japanese Miso hot pot and my boyfriend got the Sesame Tonkotsu. Mine came with pork belly as the main protein plus mussels, fish ball, fish cake, imitation crab, udon and even quail eggs. The Sesame Tonkotsu which came with the same items, but of course the broth was Tonkotsu. It was a pretty full pot for each, so you definitely get your money's worth in my opinion. Overall taste was great, too, as both the Miso and Tonkotsu broths were made well. I think the price point is average and as I said, you get a pretty full pot for that price. They also serve boba which you can order to-go or drink while you dine in. If you dine in, they serve it in a cool mason jar-like cup (at least that's how they served it to us). I didn't get a picture of it, but we tried the brown sugar milk tea and it was tasty as well, so I'd recommend. The service was friendly and pretty quick, too. We didn't have to wait long before the food was brought to the table. The interior is also well kept, so you can tell the ownership cares. Truly a hidden gem, my kids and I wanted to try this hot pot place but we came during lunch time and hot pot was only available for dinner. But this place did not disappoint. We ordered lunch sets with fruit teas. I was kinda bummed out that they didn't have boba at the time but the drink flavors were on point and really refreshing regardless. We ordered the Shrimp tempura, Minced Beef, and Sukiyaki don lunch sets. The flavors of the meats were really good. Also ordered Ika geso and we loved the orange sauce! This place was such a cute place located near Sac State. I would have loved to have this place while I was a college student, because campus pho wasn't the business. We ordered the spicy liver as an appetizer, braised pork and egg, and the combination hot pot. The spicy liver appetizer was good, but it was cold, and i probably wouldn't order it again for that reason. The braised pork was on the dry side and could have used more sauce to compensate for the dried meat, but with their chilli sauce it was perfect! The hot pot itself had a great flavor and was my favorite thing there. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. I usually venture to Tasty Pot for my hot pot cravings, but this place is pretty close to taking the win. The only thing that I love about Tasty Pot is the sauce that it comes with! This past weekend, I decided to give this place another try. I tried this place one other time about 5 years ago with a group of friends. All I remembered was I didn't enjoy this place. Back then, I didn't really enjoy hot pot so it's very possible that was the reason why. So that being said, I gave this place another try and I was disappointed. The hot pot I ordered was the House Special - Spicy. It had a decent kick to it but the flavor itself was lacking. When it comes to these types of restaurants, I like the ability to choose what meats and veggies I want in my hot pot. Quite frankly, I don't eat a lot of the veggies that were preselected in these different hot pot options. Also, the waitress never came back to ask us if we needed more soup. Appetizers: I ordered the calamari and it was not crispy at all. It tasted over cooked as it was extremely rubbery and chewy. I also ordered the Gyoza and that was crispy. It wasn't dry on the inside, actually fairly juicy. It was accompanied by a dip that wasn't your typical dip. However, it was good. Last but not least, I ordered the Passionfruit Lychee Soju. Been craving hot pot so decided to try Boiling Ave. The food was delicious, but the service ruined the experience. We came on a Wednesday night and it was pretty packed We still got seated immediately though and ordered the House Special. We waited around 30 minutes for our food to come out, which is so long compared to other hot pot places I've been to. On top of that, the soup came out cold and after they light the fire, we had to wait for the soup to boil in order to cook the raw ingredients. That part took so long since the flame is pretty weak. It was definitely strange since the soup usually comes out boiling when I go to other places. It just lengthened our wait to eat. BTW, this is NOT on their menu but you can ask them to bring you sauces. The hot pot also comes with vermicelli noodles but you can ask to change that to rice at no extra cost. I didn't know that since this was not noted in the menu and I had to ask separately when the food came. There were only 2-3 servers for the whole restaurant and although they were very nice, the lack of staff increased our wait for things we asked for (rice took 5 min for them to give us). As for the food, I got my soup at a mild spice level and it was perfect - like hot cheetos level. The soup was very flavorful and the ingredients went well together. Definitely the best hot pot I've had in Sacramento thus far. For the price, I think you get a very nice meal. The staff was attentive and friendly too. Plenty of parking out front and seating for small to larger parties.
